This looks delicious! I was heading to Aldi anyways so I grabbed the sausage, potatoes and petite diced tomatoes. Came home and my mom and I quickly cut everything up and threw in in the crock pot. The Packer game starts at 3:25. I put it on high so we will have dinner ready after the game.
@@EatingonaDime This was delicious but next time I plan to add instead of salt some Tony C. creole seasoning. We thought it needed a little zip. I sprinkled some on my second helping and it was perfect but a little salty, which is why I would omit the salt. I'm going to try adding a bag of green beans next time for an all in one meal. Thank for a fast delicious recipe!
I make something similar. I had another dimension, I saute onion, green peppers, mushrooms and the sausage in a frying pan with a little butter before adding to the crockpot, this adds even more flavor
I love your channel. A lot of people need to learn how to cook easy and affordable meals. I have over 45 years of cooking and I would not bother trying to teach the average person to cook gumbo or many other things. I am retired so I can cook things that take hours to make of constant monitoring. Crock pots or great for avoiding constant work. You are being a blessing for families who may not have much cash or time. You have my best wishes.
There's no reason for anyone not to learn how to cook now - so many UA-cam videos with recipes and instructions right from the bottom up. They even show how to use a knife to cut and dice - LOL! But crock pots, a rice cooker, and an air fryer make my life easy on any given day!
This recipe is awesome the only diced tomatoes I had was a can of Rotatel with green chilis and I didn't have white potato's so I substituted with red it was very sweet and with a little bite to it SO GOOD!! Thank You
I made this over the weekend and it was fantastic! The melding of flavors settling into the potatoes was scrumptious. This is going to be a frequent meal. I started the crockpot at 2pm, watched football until church at 4pm. Got home at 5:30 and it was ready as were we. (didn't have Italian seasoning but used Tony Chachere's. It was great.)
Sounds really good, and I love the ingredient variations mentioned in the recipe. I'm definitely going to be making this one for a meal prep in the upcoming months.
Even easier is a recipe that I love: Cut up potatoes and carrots (onions are ok, but I never add them) sliced sausage (we prefer Ekrich brand summer sausage). Salt and pepper, and one bottle of beer (a basic beer is best, like MGD or a Bud), cover and cook on the stove (not a crockpot) for 30 minutes. That’s it, turns out great!
My granny use too make the most delicious flavored smoked sausage, potato🥔 and onion 🌰 😋 in her cast-iron Skillet yummy 😋 were one of my childhood favorite dishes as a kid. It was a great way to get me to eat onions 🌰 which are not a favorite. I just don't like the raw onion taste..Gotta have some good ole seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, butter and a little bit of oil to crisp up those potatoes..I like making things in my crockpot! It will feed a lot of people, especially perfect for family or friend gatherings, parties, events etc...Especially in the winter time I use it alot like Soups, chili beans, chicken and pasta dishes...Mac * cheese etc...
Im thinking I'd like to add chopped cabbage to this recipe. Any ideas as to when i should add it ? After how many hrs of cooking ? This recipe looks soo easy and delicious !!! Thank you for sharing 😊
Yum! Sounds like a great addition! Add your cabbage near the end of your cooking time about 15-20 mins if you’re cooking on the stove, 20-30 mins if you’re using a crock pot depending on if you’re cooking on low or high. It wilts down quickly but takes a few mins to soften, you can keep checking it to assess how cooked you want it for your preference.
Good video and I’m trying this for sure! I have a Cuisinart multi purpose slow cooker that will cook up to 450°. It’s great for browning meat before slow cooking. One teensy peeve of mine is calling all slow cookers crockpots. Sounds a bit OCD but I have to say it 😜
I’m allergic to cats, so I cringed a little when the cat walked in the first time. However, when he/she sat by the fridge and meowed, that was adorable!!
My time saving. Take a can or two depending on how many you're feeding of progresso minestrone soup add left over boiled potatoes or canned whole potatoes, frozen or fresh corn on cob and sausage, onion, green pepper, celery, tomato opt . With a little old bay seasoning basically the same dish without the waiting time. Add biscuits or a bread with a salad and it's a cheap, timesaving cozy warm meal in minutes.
Looks really good and I love meals I don't have to worry about. I wonder if I can add some mushrooms to this?........ Also can this be made in the instant pot on slow cooker setting?.......
I make this in the IP but not the slow cooker mode. It doesn’t work as well. High pressure- 8 minutes. I like to sauté the sausage first and deglaze the pot.
I made this recipe yesterday. Followed the recipe and what I like to do is see what part of this recipe works for me and my husband. First of all I followed the recipe like the video. The only difference was that I had some Andouille Smoked Sausage and so I used that. House smelled amazing while it was cooking. The Sausage and Potatoes were great in my opinion, but my husband hated the Andouille Sausage. So, next time I will use a different sausage, and maybe use some homemade Rotel in there instead of the tomatoes. Just tweak it to some of the things that we like better, and that way both of us will enjoy. Thanks for the recipe.
I have a brother that doesn't like onion. He is ok if he doesn't run into a chunk. I personally don't like raw onion. Since we mostly see each other during summer, I have to camouflage the onions in my potato salad. I mince the onions in an electric chopper to ultra small. Then I soak the onions a few minutes in some dill pickle juice, because I add chopped dill pickles to my potato salad. No raw taste, and no raw onion chunks to bite into. For my lasagna, I also chop the onions very fine. My brother knows they are there, but can't taste them, so he is ok.
It's not that I don't like onions - I love the flavor and use onion powder ALL the time - I'm allergic. The juice of the onion causes my stomach to produce WAY too much of the enzymes needed to digest it causing excruciating pain. However, if the juice is cooked out (after hours of cooking) I'm fine so when it comes to crock pot cooking, I'm usually good regardless of the size.
Great stuff. Thank you! Tip?!? Do you hear the echo? A microphone would help your videos sound more professional…. Give one a try and see for yourself!
I love the fridge I had one almost the exact same, different brand but the same design. I hated the fingerprint dilemma! You can clean it all you want but without the special polish cleaner that costs much more, it was a waste of time

I buy that smoked sausage quite often, good flavor and not expensive. This meal combo looks to be a winner. And onion is a necessity.
I make something similar. I had another dimension, I saute onion, green peppers, mushrooms and the sausage in a frying pan with a little butter before adding to the crockpot, this adds even more flavor
But that kind of defeats the point of the ease of the crockpot if you are cooking it before you add it in.
You have one well fed cat. Love is a wonderful thing.
I used Italian sausage and fire roasted tomatoes......so good.
Definitely missing the peppers! But easy enough to add. I usually make this in my air fryer but may try the crockpot.

If you don't care for raw onions but like the taste, try grating your onion. You get the flavor without the chew.
Yes. Smothered potatoes and sausage. We didn’t add tomatoes tho. Now I need to make it.. in my magnalite.
The same effect as rotel is salsa seasoning can of diced tomatoes season to taste . With the salsa seasoning and diced package onions

Russet not Rusted, FYI. Thanks for the recipe!
Only use russets for baked potatoes. Yellows work best for many recipes and are not grainy. Yellows also make the best mashed potatoes.
