My first thought on the battery life was that you can just plug in a more capable battery. I very quickly realized how dumb my idea is. Apple probably has thought about how to prevent you from doing such an obvious thing.
I’ll bet money that they won’t let you swap out the battery, and have it hard wired for “high power demand”. This whole thing is one big over priced gimmick. Edit: well I was wrong the battery is removable and not hardwired, but it still uses a proprietary cable and connector, so I wasn’t wrong they are still trying to screw you over.
Most are lighter especially if you consider the battery. At that point it’s over 1kg! I’m picking mine up today either way, wish they had skipped the front screen and used a quality plastic or cloth on the front to cut out some serious weight. I think most who complain are using the dual loop band as that greatly helps spread the weight, but I’ll wait to see if anyone makes an aftermarket band

As long as its easier and more comfortable to pull out your phone, open a laptop or turn on your TV then VR will never reach mass Adoption. When its a pair of AR Glasses and not a pair of VR Goggles, in 20 years time when technology permits, then it might be a thing .

I already attended several XR events, you get Vision Pro display clarity and Micro OLED with even higher FOV with built in battery and AR2 chip from Qualcomm + Wifi 7 in a glasses form factor with a 138g of weight... We are just 2 years away at max 3.... Infact to me Vision Pro is outdated as a hardware in this price point, what I have seen is well beyond Vision Pro

What is coming is more impressive this year in prototype which is dimming glass part only where the pixels that display content, rest stay full transparent.... Battery life not sure yet but AR2 is really good in battery life...

2:45 This alone will kill the Apple Vision Pro. I may not have Netflix, but a lot of people do and one of the big reasons for VR glasses is having a giant screen everywhere you go. Of course you're only able to watch at most a 2 hour movie on there if you never pause or rewind it and start the movie quickly without searching too long.
the Meta Quest 2 is less than a tenth of the price and while it doesn't show the real world in perfect clarity (a bit of a greyscale haze) you can tell where you're walking; it has most of the same app capabilities (but can also run Netflix and UA-cam, being that it can easily link with a PC) and might even have more of a sightline than apple's "if seeing is so good why didn't they make a Seeing 2?" Yes, AR is different from VR, but this is more like VR Lite, being that a phone can do all the things it can and has 10x longer battery It needs improvement, don't spend 4000 theoretical dollars on this
VR has always stayed niche and will always stay niche. 3D movies failed because of it and most people who wear glasses (myself included) wish they didn't need to, many wear contacts to avoid having something on their heads at all times
I was born nearly blind in my right so I've been wearing glasses for almost 41 years, and you ain't lying, and forget about 3D/VR/AR for a good chunk of the population with vision issues like myself, as it will never work till we get Star Trek Holodeck rooms.

I saw MKBHD show off the remote screen for the macbook, that was the only thing that impressed me about it.
yeah you dont need a 4000$ headset for that. Meta Quest 2 or 3 also handle desktop VR like a champ.
