For the luxury or hobby watch market, 200 is a reasonable price for titanium. But the apple watch is designed to be disposed of every few years. This is what makes it expensive.

Hold up. Machining aluminum is super fricking easy. It's one of (if not THE) easiest metals to machine. Titanium is one of the hardest metals to machine. It's not as simple as a $10 price difference in materials.
@@jxmai7687 I highly doubt titanium would be as notoriously difficult to machine if it was a simple matter like that. Though I know next to nothing about the subject. Though it is so notorious to machine, even I knew about it.
@@jxmai7687 It's not as simple as just using a different "cutting tip" for Titanium. Machining titanium has various intricacies that need to be accounted for, such as it being prone to work hardening if your speeds and feeds are wrong or if you prematurely back out of a cut, it dulls most tooling very quickly, it overheats tooling, it is far more prone to chatter, it can catch fire when machined, the benefit of coolant is much higher, and machining aluminum is just slower overall.
This price policy is nothing more than pathetic... 1000$ for a fkcing stand, they are out of their "mind" - and with them i mean people who buy this shit, in addition to a 5k monitor 🤦♂
Apple is master of marketing. I've worked for them for 3 years and it's really ALL psychologisch. First lesson; - iPhone (= i phone... so i. I = "me" and me = most important, meaning people will always do whats best for them) - Making a phone heavier than necessary (heavy equipment = often related psychologically to better equipment) That's why 'iPhone users often find Android shockingly light weighted and 'cheap') - Their devices work PERFECT... if you own ALL of them. If not, you will find obstacles which make the boundry lower for you to invest in other Apple devices - etc
Their sales training is also AMAZING... I'm not allowed to say it all, but there are: - clues about body language which we have to pick up - products are placed in xyz-position to make people ACTIVELY do a bodylanguage clue.... (if you can't understand this, learn it somewhere else) - products are heavily priced (expensive = must be good... like a Rolls Royce is 'better' than a Suzuki Swift. Even though both could last the same miles) - their sales technique due to fake interests in your life, hobbies, grandkids their shoe sizes... it's all part of 'upselling' later on. And funniest thing to me... Steve Jobs (former CEO when I was working for them) was NOT AN INVENTOR he literally stole old ideas and rebranded them. Marketing = KEY.
And at last but not least... they are LITERALLY targeting dumb people. Don't get me wrong, I do not DISRESPECT people with Apple devices, I just tell them that Apple targets those who are easiest to influence. Business people (materialism), kids (easy to use OS) and 'avg Joe' (easy OS). Because Android can 'do too many things you will never use' while Apple takes away things you should be able to use (external Apps, waking up with adjustable music as alarm...not just default sounds, etc) So they have the perfect marketing and products.. Expensive. Easy marketing. Short words. Great designed website. Just to sell.. A 27" screen. iMac... but without the Mac.
On the surface, it seems like you're absolutely right, but I disagree on the point about pricing. The reason is that Apple employs dozens of senior software engineers for anc so why they produce a technology they couldn't profit? It is not charity and just like they do for design, durability, and other aspects. Beyond just the material costs, the salaries of these employees are significant. Apple has to not only ensure that its workforce is well-compensated but also make a profit. And as the company grows larger, it becomes harder to match the lower prices of other manufacturers for things like watch bands of similar material quality. As a senior software engineer, I can say that Facebook, Google and Apple not only produce a product but also improve the mind behind the product.
I am so relieved that I never wasted my money on an apple product in my life, I've always hated the iPhones because why buy such a restricting phone when you can buy a much more durable and affordable one that will last twice as long...
I bought my I-phone SE16 for $60. I like it because it is small enough to fit in my pocket and has an industry-standard miniature phone jack for audio output. Later I-phones are large, cumbersome and have only a proprietary multipurpose connector, no mini-TRS headphone output. Consequently I won't be buying any of their later models.

Not an apple fan: $200 for Ti may still be too much but it’s not as easy as “titanium is only $1.50.” The tooling required to machine or manufacture titanium is just that much more expensive. I’m sure apple isn’t using crazy grade of titanium but the printers/ cutting machines will cost much, much more to buy and operate.
And, if you're willing to spend $50 extra for a software upgrade on the $179 AirPods 4, you might as well buy the AirPods Pro 2. Way better ANC/ sound and you can find them on sale for under $200 in certain markets.
Yes, you are right that Apple's pricing is worthy of criticism, but the price difference for the Apple Watch 10 is certainly also due to the sapphire glass in the titanium version compared to the simple ion-X glass in the aluminum version
yeah but then you cant say you own an apple monitor. wouldnt want to look like a DIRTY POOR would you?? anyways, im going to go drive to starbucks in my tesla now.
Apple is so ahead of the competition, they look ahead and already include the inflation of which amounts to prices in ten year's time. No other company can do that.
To be fair that $10 of titanium is the raw material cost. Now machine it into the right shape with a CNC that eats the machining bits faster than steel and then polish the titanium which also takes longer to do than steel. That extra work is what costs more than steel because all metals aren’t created equal. Not saying it justifies the $200 but it does involve more production costs than steel and likely a separate production equipment setup to some degree.
Consider that in the 80s, phones were almost as rare as spacecrafts. So no.. looking at the mass production and availability they have to be priced as rice.

High-end android which is going to be full with third party staff, or iphone which is going to have the same settings, menu and options exactly as Mac from box without nees to have sparate accounts, users, software, configurations, and many more. That is the reason. People do not want spend time doing more actions. They just want to start using. That is why it is hard to change ecosystem. Because ecosystem will always work better than combination of different products. For this reason, the time person will spend doing configs, dowloading separate app for each android staff, charged by apple as money. Like whether you pay, or spend your time, which you can use to make money or for family. However, using iPhone with windows is nightmare. For microsoft dudes better to use android only.

no they did not hahahha at least not in Brasil
They still give cords here, at least
Yup, I bought a S24+ a couple weeks ago. It had one USB-C cable included, but not the adapter that plugs into the electrical outlet. So, I guess technically you can charge it with what you get in the box if you have something with a USB-C socket that you can plug that cable into. However, they did not include the adapter which plugs into the wall outlet, and that is what I think most people are talking about when they say they don't include chargers anymore. In the past you got the cable AND the plug to stick into the wall.
My wife wondered why I was so adamant about not buying Apple, Samsung, or Google phones when upgrading. Went with Motorola Edge 2022 (despite being in 2024, ATT didn't offer the 2023 or 2024 options as upgrades /shrug) and I'm very happy with it. A quarter of the price to do everything the same.

$200 for just the titanium upgrade is insane.
afaik it's not even an upgrade, since the titanium casing is actually pretty sensitive to impact..
titanium is actually a lot more difficult to machine than aluminum. so i understand the price increase. but yeah, a completely unnecessary "upgrade"
@@dkcwenge yeah, not defending Apple, but the bulk material cost is a fraction of the total. The extra time and tooling costs to make a complex rounded shape like that would probably 10x the cost of manufacture.

In case of titanium, the cost is mostly for machining and polishing it but it would still be cheaper than Apple is asking for it.
That would be an extra $200
most expensive part on steel or titanium AW is that sapphire glass with rounded edges... Aluminium AW doesnt have that.
For the luxury or hobby watch market, 200 is a reasonable price for titanium. But the apple watch is designed to be disposed of every few years. This is what makes it expensive.

@@username7763 No it isn't. You've just illustrated that the luxury or hobby market is as overpriced as the Apple range.

Apple wasn't always sht, the early iPods were actually good. Had a 360gb brick one for years, took a beating and the battery lasted well - actually got my money's worth and nothing else did that at the time. Anything newer than that I wouldn't touch with a 10ft barge pole tho.

Hold up. Machining aluminum is super fricking easy. It's one of (if not THE) easiest metals to machine.
Titanium is one of the hardest metals to machine.
It's not as simple as a $10 price difference in materials.
They can use the same machine for both, but just use different cutting tip for different materials, may be cost $1 extra for each cut.

Apple is master of marketing. I've worked for them for 3 years and it's really ALL psychologisch.
First lesson;
- iPhone (= i phone... so i. I = "me" and me = most important, meaning people will always do whats best for them)
- Making a phone heavier than necessary (heavy equipment = often related psychologically to better equipment) That's why 'iPhone users often find Android shockingly light weighted and 'cheap')
- Their devices work PERFECT... if you own ALL of them. If not, you will find obstacles which make the boundry lower for you to invest in other Apple devices
- etc
Their sales training is also AMAZING... I'm not allowed to say it all, but there are:
- clues about body language which we have to pick up
- products are placed in xyz-position to make people ACTIVELY do a bodylanguage clue.... (if you can't understand this, learn it somewhere else)
- products are heavily priced (expensive = must be good... like a Rolls Royce is 'better' than a Suzuki Swift. Even though both could last the same miles)
- their sales technique due to fake interests in your life, hobbies, grandkids their shoe sizes... it's all part of 'upselling' later on.
Because Android can 'do too many things you will never use' while Apple takes away things you should be able to use (external Apps, waking up with adjustable music as alarm...not just default sounds, etc)
So they have the perfect marketing and products..
Expensive. Easy marketing. Short words.
Great designed website.
Just to sell..

As a senior software engineer, I can say that Facebook, Google and Apple not only produce a product but also improve the mind behind the product.
it has been about 3 or 4 months since the last time I clicked the like button on a video. Thanks for the new click!
In Apple Pricing, a great deal is when you buy 3 wheels for your computer at $200 each, you get the 4th wheel at half price. What a Deal!!!!

Technology gets smaller, better and cheaper to produce, but the wallet keeps getting bigger
The wallet keeps getting smaller, you should say
I bought my I-phone SE16 for $60. I like it because it is small enough to fit in my pocket and has an industry-standard miniature phone jack for audio output. Later I-phones are large, cumbersome and have only a proprietary multipurpose connector, no mini-TRS headphone output. Consequently I won't be buying any of their later models.

@@deadaimusic1889 Large part of the blame lies on consumers (especially in the US market) whom would rather spend hundreds of dollars extra either just for the perceived prestige of having a logo of an apple with a bite taken out of it on your electronics, or out of being too ignorant to look around for alternatives (such as Android), and because "everyone else has Apple so I must have Apple too".

Not an apple fan: $200 for Ti may still be too much but it’s not as easy as “titanium is only $1.50.”
The tooling required to machine or manufacture titanium is just that much more expensive. I’m sure apple isn’t using crazy grade of titanium but the printers/ cutting machines will cost much, much more to buy and operate.
