    I am a plus size woman, so please understand that before you judge anything else I'm about to say. I went to school for fashion design. One of the first things you learn is not all fashions are designed for all body types. When you have something that looks good on a size 2 to 8 it is not, I repeat not going to look good on a size 22 to 28. It has nothing to do with fatphobia. There are plus size designers that specifically cater 2 plus size people. Not all fashion is designed for all body types! And again before anybody in the comments comes at me I am a size 24 woman. I learned a long time ago that I can't just walk into any store and buy whatever I want off the rack because it's not all going to look good on me or fit me.

      THANK YOU. A larger size has to be redrafted. No one is out here crying that a designer makes for a differen bust size or shoulder width or whatever. If a designer could make $ and wants to do so, they will.

      I gained a lot of weight after I had my second child, however I have been a double d since I was 13 years old. Most clothes have never fit me properly especially formal Wear, as it is mostly designed for b-cup or smaller. That was one of the main reasons why I decided to go to design school. I want it to be able to create clothes that fit my body type specifically. Anytime I would buy something off the rack even when I was thin My bust size always made it hard. I would have to buy the clothing three to four sizes too large for myself and then alter them to fit the rest of my body

      That’s such a dumb example. If people were complaining about the price of luxury clothing, then that would make sense but simply wanting to look good in clothing no matter your size isn’t absurd. If plus size people started walking around naked or working out naked (since y’all believe workout clothes aren’t for them either) y’all would be complaining too because the issue isn’t about logic, it’s about you people just hating on people for not looking the way you want them to.

    Fashion designer and pattern maker here. Plus size takes work to draft a pattern for, the proporstions and rules to making a pattern are way different when doing anything above a XL-1XL. They also require much more fabric and the designs even change slightly to accomodate a larger frame. It is more costly to create a plus size garment, espcially when you get to 3-4-5-6XL. I have made many plus size garments and explaining this fact sometimes angers them. They don't understand cutting on grain and making a hoodie in 4XL is going to be 4-6M of fabric, a coat is going to be 6-14M depending on length, that is a lot of fabric, and that does not include the lining which is slightly larger than the outer.

      Bodies tend to follow programming. If something is introduced that benefits it, it will shift its focus to cater to it. If something benefits a system TOO well, it will adjust fast and cry a fit when it's taken away. For women, it's especially difficult because female bodies are designed to store energy and everything in modern culture artificially amplifies estrogen levels. If you curtail that hurdle, though, your body will see the deception and demand healthier habits. Keep it up.

    HE SPOKE THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH THOUGH!! As someone who is a buyer of high fashion. Most brands don’t go over a 12 and that’s more like a 9. I can fit and wear sample sizes and can fit in the runway pieces. Anything over that is custom made. A designer once said (I’m not saying who it was) told a client that was very large, “ IM SORRY! I’m a fashion designer. I DONT dress furniture!! “ the point is fashion designers have different looks and clientele for them. The real tea is, designers usually don’t make bigger sizes because of the costs. Exotic and luxury fabrics cost more per yard. The intricate brocade and beading on a couture piece can take 150 hrs to make for someone that’s a size 2. Imagine making it for someone that’s a 14 +? And considering most high fashion is over the top for most people the likelihood of selling things at that size would lose money dramatically. It’s reality honey! Hate to tell ya, but there are medical conditions that cause weight gain/obesity...which means that not all people can control their weight. And, yes, I do have one of those rare conditions. However, I don't think any brand/designer should be expected to make from my cousins 00 to a 36, an XS to an 8X. Not all designs are for all sizes. The same as an item of clothing made for me won't fit/look good on a size 6 person. An item of clothing made for that said size 6 won't translate in the pattern to a size 30 and still look like the same item of clothing. So, all that being said...make what ya want for who ya want and people look around for brands that are actually designed for plus size people.

    • @KateTheGoose
      @KateTheGoose 28 днів тому +6

      The analogy with discrimination on orientation and race doesn't make sense either way, simply because orientation and race don't affect your ability to wear clothes, and the only way a brand can discriminate you in that case is by refusing to sell you clothes, even though they fit you and you can buy them. But nobody refuses to sell clothes to a person because of their weight, you just don't buy them, because you physically cannot wear them, they don't fit, a brand doesn't have clothes that you can wear. This comparison of "discrimination" is ridiculous.

    Food deserts!!! WTF is a food desert. I have been in the lowest income bracket for all my 66 years, for all my life I've had 3 square meals a day.from cerials milk and tea for breakfast to soup, sandwich, and what ever fruit was cheapest that week, main evening meat was rather meat or plant based protein with lots of veg grown by my granddad on an allotment. My dad worked in the local steel works and my mum cleaned for lasy or working women.
    My kids were fed the same way and my grandkids are eating basically the same.
    So what is a FOOD DESERT?

    • @yvonnezed
      @yvonnezed 28 днів тому +2

      It seems to be a relatively new "thing", I can't remember the exact locale now, as it's been a while since I saw the video, but in some places in America, where the crime rates for shoplifting have skyrocketed, and it's dangerous for the employees to even be at work, they are shutting up shop and leaving the area. Not just one or two shops, but a lot! So it leaves these large areas without any proper shops to get groceries etc, and hence it's now a "food desert". The sad reality that people seem to miss though, is that the community creates the problem. A store can "handle" a certain amount of shoplifting, but when they are hit all day, every day, losing thousands of dollars a day, and said shoplifters are violent or dangerous, it's not safe for the employee's... then they get mad at the store's for leaving the area, and that they now have to drive three hours to get to a grocery store somewhere else... 🤦🏼‍♀️
      I am terrible at explaining anything, but I might be able to find that video about it and drop the link on the end of this for you, it was explained beautifully! 😊

    When I was a size 0 it was hard to find jeans that fit because many stores assumed you had to be petite. Well I’m not. People don’t realize that a small sizes are hard to find as well.

    Jeez, company shouldn't be forced to cater to everyone. It's their business, their money, their decision. People can find another brand that fits them.
    A lot of brands are actually moving away extreme sizes because the sales numbers are abysmal and cost of material is bigger.

    I am barely 5 feet tall. Every pair of pants I buy I have to alter. 3/4 length sleeves and clam digger pants are full length on me. And little people have it worse than that. MBA and WBA people can’t just buy off the rack either! My husband wears a size 15 shoe. Most stores do not carry that size. We have to order online and then they don’t fit and have to send back and order something else, etc. yes, frustrating, but it is what it is. These people are crazy

    That girl bringing up not selling clothes to Black people makes no sense because you can literally change your weight so it doesn’t really fit. People who say they can’t lose weight are just lazy and don’t wanna do the work.

      That's not actually true for some people..as someone who used to be 305lbs I worked out constantly as well as ate healthy and I would still gain weight..finally I saw a specialist who focused on my thyroid health and found that to be my issue..once I got the proper help I was able to lose weight..it's not always about fat people being lazy and not wanting to do the work 🤦🏾‍♀️ have a good day ✌🏾😊

    I used to be 350lbs. I've lost 185 lbs and feel like I can speak on this.
    As far as clothing goes, a bigger size doesn't always fit on a plus sized body. Plus sized clothing is made with curves in mind. When I was plus sized I knew plus sized clothing would fit me much better than an extended straight size.
    I've never been offended that not all clothes were made for me.

    Me and my sister had a big fall out over this argument. I make clothes and she asked for a shirt. I respectfully said no because not only trying to use alot of fabric is a pain on a regular machine plus no offense anything plus sizes wear just looks like a blanket. No matter how cute the outfit, it’s still not giving. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    He's not wrong.
    People were pissed when torrid added size 12 and I think 14. Because it isn't plus size enough. These people are the biggest hypocrites.
    I'm overweight, and this attitude is ridiculous. I want to lose weight and not embrace my size....but I know I'll never fit into that brandy Melville brand though and do not care to😂😂😂😂 I want to be healthy. Plain and simple. I definitely believe those aren't the picture of health, and they'll be regretting their choices as they get older and it becomes harder to live.
    YOU CAN'T CHOOSE THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN. YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT. 😂🤦‍♀️ It might be hard...if you have health issues. In particular, women with hormones..but it can be done...if you learn about the real way to regulate your hormones. Good grief.
    Eating healthy isnt as expensive as some of these people seem to think😂

    No brand wants their products shown in a bad light. If I see a mountain of flesh squeezed into a garment I know that designer isn’t for me.
