You did that the hard way... You can easily pull the motor out from the top even with the hood in place. I'm a proud owner of a 94 Pontiac Trans am that I'm in the process of restoring.... I pulled my motor out from the top with the hood in place... The LT1 is getting replaced. With a 383 stroker LT1..
What up how’s it going?. I have an 02 Z28 that iam fixing to do that on. Need my Ls freshed up. Does the tranny need to come out as well or can I just do the Engine from bottom?
I’m thinking about doing this myself. What is the hoist rated at to lift the whole front end I think dropping the cradle and putting the replacement on the cradle will be my best bet. But I have a t56 please reply
I got me a swap comming up. Throwing a t56 out of a 98 m6 trans am into my bpm a4 98 trans am. Then ls1 and 4l60e in my 3rd gen.... Should be fun good video btw
That's not logical in my opinion. If you have to do anything that requires the removal of a V6 you might as well install a 5.3 while it's out. Mine is on tires now prepped for the swap. I spent over a grand for the v8 parts and k member.
Holy crap!!!! That looks like it's going to be a nightmare putting the engine back in!! Are you going to stay n/a? Would a 6 liter from a truck be a good option for this car?
Scott Craft I’m definitely not looking forward to putting an engine back in 😂a 6 liter would def be a good fit. I’m still trying to see what my best option is considering the damage to this engine.
Good work. I've got to get my z28 going eventually. Will be another build. Went all out in the first one now I've got to do it all over again these 4 bodies are fun cars and they don't cost much to build a strong platform.
If your doing all that work put a 427 stroker ls3 in it. The bigger stroke will smooth out the idle for a bigger cam as well. Fun 10 sec car. 9's with the juice! Ford 9" and there indestructible! Heavy cast block and heavy trans and your going backwards. That's like driving the car with your wife in it for ever. lol.
well I watched this a while back for the entertainment value, now I get to do it myself after a hydrolocked rod breakage..the same thing yours experienced from what it looks like..wish me luck dude and thanks for that inspiring video.
A few floor jacks and blocks of wood then once unbolted I lowered the car back down to the ground. After that I hooked the engine hoist up and lifted the car like in the video
@@RegularGuyGarage thanks for your quick reply sir! So you put jacks underneath the kmember? I also have these two triangle looking both by front wheels it looks like is from the kmember, should bend them?
About to swap the LT1 in my 95 Z28 and this video really helps!

@Vend Master yeah it's easier than taking out the k member from the bottom...
@@keilylmm6377 Only reason you should pull it from the bottom is if youre doing a v6 to v8 swap
Nice of your lady to help. Mine would just be standing there yelling at me for spilling all that transmission fluid.
I miss my 2000 built metallic blue z28 after watching this. Awesome content.
Thanks 👍. I honestly miss this car. I should’ve kept it to daily drive
My choice between the g body and f body I believe has came to a close cause why do I have to get it from the bottom…
I’ve done the engine hoist body lift myself twice with my ss works great furniture dollies are my friend there.

I would pull the tranny too. It’ll be more work to try and support the trans to keep it in the car than just take it out as one
Thanks a lot for help bro., will do. Your cars looks 2 fresh!!
I use to want one so bad tell I seen what you gotta do to take the engine out

Wish i knew how to work on cars like you man, hope she comes out better than new and kicking ass!
I believe there are easier ways to remove an engine.
That is by far the easiest way on these cars.

Hat's off. That's a small area to work.
jimbo9357 thanks
Where did you get the car cover?
LT11988 it’s actually a 5 Gen Camaro cover that a friend of mine gave me and surprisingly fits the 4th Gen as well. I use it on my 2017 also sometimes
Nice video

Not sure what you’re getting at. I removed a 5.7 and put a 5.7 back in...
@@RegularGuyGarage oh lol I thought it was the 3.8 camaro

Regular Guy Garage I've got a it blazer with a 6.2 diesel and I'd like to swap a 6 liter into it. Can't wait to see how this Camaro turns out.
Regular Guy Garage LQ9 and call it a day
So how did you loosen up & remove the bolts holding the k member to the car?
Mostly looks like a pain due to lack or work space
Forget the 4l60e and get a 4l80e
Randall Wyatt yea so he can lose horsepower, all he has to do is get a stage 2 4l60 and he is golden
No the 4l60 is junk do the swap and never touch it again.

Nice! I have a 02 SS on my channel as well
This guy needs more subs, he’s building a new engine in his driveway, pretty impressive
Dang....You really move a long!! Very nice. I need to pull my LT1 and freshen it up.....Different rear gears!
Camaro Time It looks much easier than it was when the video is sped up 😂
Don’t let your girl come back in your “shop” with them flipper floppers on...
Glad to see a project car like this one in a channel! Will definitely keep up with your build. Coming from a proud owner 02 SS 💪🍻
Cant wait to see what that car can do
Should have a running engine soon enough. Just waiting on parts
Nice! Gettin it done🔥🔥
Y not just put jack stands under the body then move cherry picker
I was thinking the same thing. Boy likes to work harder and not smarter...
Nice work!! Love the shea tree build.. always awesome to see a real build. Real time..👍👍👍 keep up the awesome work!!
Wow looks like a big pain in the butt cool though
Tough job impressive 👍🏻
Big D thanks!
I feel ya bro I dropped the engine on my Camaro on my own.
What year is yours? Any mods?
Talk about doing it backwards...
Did those corvette wheels jus bolt on? Love the channel man
I believe that's how all wheels work! ;)
uhhh....holy shit
Do you still have the rims? I want those for my 99 z28.
I have a 02 SS as well on my channel

I'm very happy too say I bought this car I have big plans for it
That was easy.... twin turbos
Hell yeah!
Just subbed! wish I could do all that to my trans am need to rebuild my transmission:(

how did you unbolt the kmember without it falling on you? im stuck between that. any tips
