    In the process of installing a built 6.0 beast with a TVS in mine, this video was gold as a refresher to remind me what needs done. Thanks!

      Your welcome, for your Chevelle the best oil pan for your setup will be a Holley 302-2 it’s the one I used and will clear your center section and steering linkage just fine. You will have to relocate your alternator to the high corvette style or similar to clear your steering box, also your floor will have to be massaged a bit to clear that transmission. Finally make sure you mount your transmission high enough in the body to give you the correct driveshaft angles so you don’t get any vibrations.

      Thanks for the additional info. So my ls1 / T56 is out of a 99 Camaro. My brother works at a salvage yard that specializes in Corvette's. What year Corvette do I need the drive assembly from to work with my steering box?? THANKS in advance!!!

      @@larrymead7174 you can use after market adapters too, some aren’t very expensive, but factory parts usually are always better, so for sure 1997-02 corvette drive will work, for the alternator relocation. 03-06 may work as well but being for ls2 im not 100% positive, however if you plan to use A/C, depending on your motor setback where your motor mounts land you may have to do a complete relocation of accessories on both sides, in which case aftermarket may be the way to go. However Holley came out with a mini compressor that mounts in the stock location but may fit on your application, im currently going to use one of these for my 72 C10 and I’m possibly going to use one on my 1970 Chevelle, I haven’t had the chance to see if it will clear yet but if using A/C that may be an option for you as well. You may be able to clear the factory compressor on your Chevelle though, much depends on your engine setback because those mounts are what interferes with the A/C compressor.

    Are you supposed to support the rear once the engine/tranny is out to keep it from tipping on the hoist?

    • @curtrobinsongarage5452
      @curtrobinsongarage5452  9 місяців тому +1

      I never have on these cars. If your rear jacks are located on the subframe where the trailing arms attach it will balance fine. If you are concerned you can support the back but I have never been worried about it. I don’t lift these cars on the pinch weld jack points either, I always jack on the front and rear subframe points further inboard and further forward on the front and further rearward on the back for stability., if you pause the video you can see where I lift them. Very valid question though.

    The 99 ran hot huh? All you can do is change all gaskets. Or at least everything that boiled grease.

    What county are you in? I see the Utah Arch plates. I have a 2000 Z28 and would love to delete EGR but Weber County Emissions…

    I’m going to be taking the engine out of a 95 z28 never worked on a Camaro is removing the computer necessary?

    • @curtrobinsongarage5452
      @curtrobinsongarage5452  Рік тому

      The 95 engine is completely different than the one in my video. Your motor is an older LT1, the one in my video is an LS1. However the steps should be very close to the same as the car bodies are almost identical. So I would say yes if your computer is located in the same location it would be easier to pull it and lay the harness on the motor as you remove it vs unplug everything while in the car. But you could do it either way. One way is just a lot faster.
