I pulled mine from the top last year then reinstalled from the bottom with the transmission prewired on the k-member. Used my engine hoist and a chain to jack the body up since I don’t have a lift. By myself had the full unit bolted in and wired pretty quick. Lifting the engine with an ls lifting plate made it easier.
Didn’t want to unbolt any of the front suspension so we could just roll the car out. Plus I hadn’t seen anyone pull it from the top before so said heck it why not hahahah
i found your series on this swap and man i love it. what video can i watch to see your explain the engine and trans mounts and how you built them? can you send a link. ?
I think as far as the mounts go it wasn’t very in-depth covered on film however you’re more than welcome to check out the first video of the playlist and you’ll be able to see some of the mounting solution however stay tuned and you’ll be able to see the new mounts real soon.
Why pull it from the top when you have a lift? Or was it just to see how much harder it is? We can get these out at the shop in about 2 hours. We just unhook the shifter, steering shaft, struts, brake lines, drive shaft and the mid pipe of the exhauast. Then just lower the subframe and it's out.
Oh yeah dropping the subframe is the best way. It was just to see how much hard it was. With tube front I can just unbolt it from the engine plate and pull it straight forward. Check out the latest videos!
I just pulled my 5.7 along with the t-56 attached out of my 2000 z28 through the top. It wasn’t all that bad to be honest. I did remove the hood and pull the cylinder heads prior to trying to lift it all out. I’m considering installing the heads before I go back in now that I see you came out with them on? 🤔
Monterey Maroon Metallic. T-Top car. I bought it in March and I completely replaced the suspension with lowering springs, adjustable shocks, adjustable panhard rod, new sway bars and bushings. Also threw in a set of Procar racing seats too while the car was down. Engine is getting gen 4 forged pistons/rods from Scat and Icon. Gonna run Stage 3 extra valve clearance cam from Summit Pro LS line and all the goodies to go along with it. Should be a certified ripper when all done!
@@HOSSgarage this is too funny. I saw you made a new video and was listening to it wile I work. Here UA-cam recommend this video from months ago. I thought it was part of the new one and thought the k motor was bad. Anyways, I like ware the build is going with the lighter motor setup. It’s going to be a better track car.

Maybe it’s a dumb question, I ain’t got no shame cuz I’m still learning lol. But how would running rich make metal?
I have a 2001 ss and one of my starter mounts broke off, it mounts to the engine right. I need advices on what I should do
Man super video, straight to the point, quick shots, not a bunch of unnecessary talking or music. Love it.
Thanks! I try to make it as entertaining as possible and just be real with y’all! I’m glad you’re here!

My buddy has a plate from some company named Dirty Dingo... guess they’re Aussie
I've done it both ways and from the bottom was by far the easiest wasy.
Is there a video you would recommend to watch to know how to do it?
@jonathon5140 they just have instructions with a few pics on LS1TECH I haven't searched on here but I'm sure they have some on here also
I'm trying to figure out top or bottom. If you had to pull the trans and driveshaft anyway, what's the benefit to pulling through the top?

Clean garage shop.
Yeah I am a stickler of keeping work areas organized and clean. Helps with efficiency and productivity.

Going to try it soon. LT1 though
I will light a candle for you my friend! Thanks for watching the video! Did you see what Engine is in the car now?
My car? Has an LT1. Just bought a 383 LT1. Short block
Just did this, LT1 through the bottom. It was easy as long as you have a hoist (to lift the car) and tall enough jack stands.
Nice job Bro...let me know when you need a hand
Elron makes a nice flywheel!
Agreed! 🔥🔥🔥
What engine are you putting back in?
Stay tuned! It’s gonna be crazy
It’s in. Check out the new video!

Pumped for what's to come ;)

This week! Gonna upload soon as it’s in! Can’t wait!
That's what I call saving weight :)
Now if only the driver could drop weight as easily 😂

So depressing. Good luck bro
Not gonna lie I sure do miss the sound of the 5.3. The new setup is definitely not going to disappoint

Take the hood off!
@@fv1291 that hood hasn’t been on the car four years

You already know! Fuego!!!!
Don't blame what's in the motor. More like a bad tuned
Nah the tune by JD was great. That engine had low oil pressure prior to dyno runs.
