4th Gen Camaro 3.8L Removing The Engine

In this video I remove the engine from the bottom on the 2000 3.8L Camaro. I also leave all the ac lines connected so that way I don't have to evacuate the ac freon. Dropping from the bottom was pretty straight forward, just disconnect anything that goes from the car body to the front subframe cradle. Like front brake lines, slave cylinder hose, fuel lines, lots of wiring (even a few connectors inside the passenger footwell area). All in all, took about 6-8 hours from start to finish for my first time pulling an engine.

I originally came to your channel for the c10 Carburetor diagnostic video but ended up watching this one cause I used to have a Camaro just like this. I remember my first engine pull was on a 2005 Altima at work. I haven’t tried pulling an engine at home yet. This video definitely inspired me to do it soon tho.

If you remove the intake and all the accessories you can pull it out the top but it's a pain in the ass.

There really wasn’t too much to remove to take it out of the bottom. Just as long as you have the space and ability to roll a big heavy cradle assembly. Definitely think the bottom is the way to go on these cars

Do you consider a 3800 supercharged?

Absolutely considering it. It will require a lot of modification and aluminum welding which I can’t currently do. I think a turbo would ultimately be a better option ;)
