In the, for what its worth department, I was 14 when Apollo 13 made history. I remember it well. The first time I saw the movie, I knew they all survived. I was still on my feet cheering when I saw the movie. I have seen it at least 2 dozen times since then. I still jump out of my seat and cheer. My grandchildren did the same thing the first time they saw it, too.
That's what makes him a genius everybody knew in the audience those astronauts survive but it felt like it was brand new and then do the weightlessness scenes was incredible they had a built a set inside of an airplane call the vomit comet and they had to do a hundreds of times he is incredible director he was definitely robbed
Grahm to me has the best interviews he asks the right questions and he let's them think and speak freely he let's the interview flow naturally nothing feels forced
A beautiful mind was such a great movie. The supporting cast was just spectacular. The writing. Pulling it all together. I wouldn’t give you a plug nickel for the stuff being put out now.
Just hearing Ron Howard in this clip I could imagine (no pun intended) that if he ever gave up his current lifestyle he'd make an excellent American diplomat.
I love Apollo Thirteen as much as I love The Right Stuff. Movies made about the American Space program can be some of the greatest undertakings known. Getting the Governments support and contributions concerning national security information can be next to impossible. Only a brilliant director could have done what Ron Howard did and a humble and compassionate man to share the story in the way he did. No Awards ceremony could convince me otherwise. He is Brilliant!💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕
The only reason l went to see Apollo 13 was because Ron Howard directed it. Leaving the theatre after l said to my date that Ron Howard is a shoe in for best director Oscar. Ron didn’t even get nominated. The motion picture academy has no credibility in my opinion.
At this time in human history, Ron Howard should go back into the space themes. It's truly incredible what people are doing/discovering in that industry albeit its superficial in terms of a story of human experience. I'd give it another go Mr. Howard.
You people have no idea what Ron Howard had to go through making Apollo 13 to do the scenes of weightlessness they had to go on the vomit comet that's an airplane that goes straight down for 20 seconds so you only have 20 seconds to film those scenes and they did it hundreds of times Ron Howard is by far the greatest director I've ever seen, everybody knows the outcome of Apollo 13 and how he directed it it felt like it was brand new he's a freaking genius,,HE WAS ROBBED,,
An oscar award is NOT necessarily an accurate judgment of a film or one’s work, look who’s voting (the same people who gave Will Smith a standing ovation) it’s subjective - remember Elisabeth Taylor won an Oscar for Butterfield 8, the worst film in her career. The Academy is filled with many jealous, backstabbing, narcissistic members, for every Ron Howard, there are 30+ Harvey Weinstein’s.
The Oscars cannot be the standard for someone’s work. Besides, there tends to be too much known about the Academy now and how it operates. “Best that people do not know how laws and sausages are made.” - Otto von Bismarck
Really? Oscar (best director) snub for Apollo 13? How? I’ve actually been weightless, and that movie captured it. How if the ever living heck did he get passed over?
He won for a beautiful mind as payback for blowing it and not nominating him for Apollo 13! He should have been nominated for Apollo 13 and should have won!
IMO Nightshift was better, funnier than Splash. Michael Keaton too. Apollo 13 should have won everything. Our family saw that movie in the theater multiple times and we replayed the VHS tape (I know) over and over.
This once again, just proves that the best person he did the best job ever that could’ve been done doesn’t get included. It was a travesty, and it took away from the respectability of the Academy.
What's up with the Japanese Manga? Seems like every time i see a video with Brian Glazer there is Manga everywhere. 😮 Kind of creepy without context of some sort.
The problem with all these studios is the old guys think they have to go woke. They have to cast against storyline. They have to follow the diversity trend. I promise this will cause their demise if it continues.
Oh heavens... someone who is super wealthy and famous for pretending to be other people and telling stories didn't win an award given by other people who are wealthy and famous for the same insignificant activity. It's a tragedy. It's horrible. How can they go on living. All the people commenting here struggling to live their lives yet they give even the smallest crap about celebrities not getting an award? What in the world are you concerned about?
I'm sorry, but for those people outside of the industry and simply just movie-goers are not fans of producers of movies and simply do not care about that. Actors, yes, directors, yes, but producers, most common people do not know what a producers does. We do not care about Brian Glazer.
Ron Howard is an absolute legend, but best of all, seems like a very nice person.
He is a very kind and very nice guy ❤
It really is crazy he wasn't even nominated for Apollo 13
Agree
That still burns me up.
Agree!
Too many other great movies that yr
I'll never get over it. 😢
Incredible work Graham. This series is a new level for you! Congratulations. We need more! :D
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching - DF
Agree. Loving it
Is the whole interview in one spot? I am watching snippets.
One of your best discussions, Graham. What a group!

I will go see a Ron Howard movie the same way I will go see a Spielberg's. Unquestionably. In my mind, he cannot do wrong.
A beautiful mind was such a great movie. The supporting cast was just spectacular. The writing. Pulling it all together. I wouldn’t give you a plug nickel for the stuff being put out now.
Ron Howard is a national treasure. So happy he wasn’t on the island like so many others
These interviews are wonderful and on another level than most. Excellent work.
Just hearing Ron Howard in this clip I could imagine (no pun intended) that if he ever gave up his current lifestyle he'd make an excellent American diplomat.
Agreed
8:28 I love this question, and the answer is simply amazing. This is really what people should be looking for to build success.
I’m a little bit more in love with him now. 47 years married! BRAVO

What a thoughtful and deeply honest interview of Imagine and it’s founders
Apollo 13 was a wonderful movie
I love that. Share the knowledge for the next run.
What a lasting loyal friendship, beautiful!
The only reason l went to see Apollo 13 was because Ron Howard directed it. Leaving the theatre after l said to my date that Ron Howard is a shoe in for best director Oscar. Ron didn’t even get nominated. The motion picture academy has no credibility in my opinion.
What a breath of fresh, traditional, air
Ron Howard’s voice is the same as when he was in Happy Days !
I love Night Shift, and it's a classic for me.
Same. I prefer Rod Stewart’s “That’s What Friends are For” more than Dionne Warwick’s & Co because of the movie.
Wonderful partnership
What a remarkable person.

They need to develop a “Oscar of refusals” like the impressionists did in France like the salon,of refusals!
Apollo 13 is a movie I can’t turn off when it’s on TV.
Class!
Night Shift was probably one the funniest movies I've ever seen!
Ron speaks like a well written, fully rehearsed script by an actor that we can’t see working. Just flow. That’s so rare and difficult too.
I totally agree.. no BS OR “look at me”.
Apollo 13 is one of the Greatest pictures ever made!!!
Ron Howard is a Brilliant Artist , William Wyler would be proud!!! Imagine ………💜♾️🌟♾️💜
Do you know how they did the weightlessness scenes??
Bryce is amazing in her own right.

unrelated question : when will UA-cam add a 15 second back /forward button?
Hollywood based on the Academy is still like a petulant child unable to give credit where it is due yet Ron has risen above that.
The academy is a joke although I am glad Everything Everywhere All At Once won everything
The Oscars cannot be the standard for someone’s work. Besides, there tends to be too much known about the Academy now and how it operates.

I loved Night Shift.
Howard managed to get the whole famdamnbly into Apollo 13....
Really? Oscar (best director) snub for Apollo 13? How?
I’ve actually been weightless, and that movie captured it. How if the ever living heck did he get passed over?
Night shift was hilarious 👍😂
He won for a beautiful mind as payback for blowing it and not nominating him for Apollo 13! He should have been nominated for Apollo 13 and should have won!
Ironically, Mel Gibson (who RH was then directing in "Ransom") won that year.
IMO Nightshift was better, funnier than Splash. Michael Keaton too. Apollo 13 should have won everything. Our family saw that movie in the theater multiple times and we replayed the VHS tape (I know) over and over.
Night Shift was great! (And my family had it on VHS also!)
Is that Brian's art studio, with the giant cutout waifus?
Two twenty, two twenty one, whatever it takes
Parents, nurture and protect your children. They can do great things. Yes, I didn’t mention money.
But you, ... you didn't mention *money*
This once again, just proves that the best person he did the best job ever that could’ve been done doesn’t get included. It was a travesty, and it took away from the respectability of the Academy.

Apollo 13 (not nominated for best director).

And your comment has What to do with this interview with Ron Howard?
Screw Ron, Erin died in a trailer court in Indiana. Where was Ron?
Oh heavens... someone who is super wealthy and famous for pretending to be other people and telling stories didn't win an award given by other people who are wealthy and famous for the same insignificant activity. Have you been constipated your entire life?
I'm sorry, but for those people outside of the industry and simply just movie-goers are not fans of producers of movies and simply do not care about that. Actors, yes, directors, yes, but producers, most common people do not know what a producers does.
We do not care about Brian Glazer.
I was happy to hear what he had to say, he is part of Ron’s story.
Troll
Most people do care who wants to know the story behind their creative process. I like what they are showing.
George Lucas did not direct the star wars films... he produced them. But everyone knows Lucas=star wars.
Just because you don’t understand how movies are made doesn’t mean others don’t. Your ignorance is not our responsibility.
I don’t care what Bryce has to say lol at all
Calling it a snub is arrogant.
You lost, deal with it.
Poor Ron has to listen to his daughter's nasal valley girl voice.
I thought his true masterpiece above Apollo 13, and perhaps even A Beautiful Mind, was Cinderella Man. . . . Though all 3 are great!
The first nudie musical, what a great thing ....😂😂😂😂
