They should have mentioned that it was Roger Corman who gave him a chance at directing. The deal was he would be able to direct as long as he agreed to act in another one of the Roger Corman films
@jojopuppyfish. Howard starred in “ Grand Theft Auto” for Corman and Corman let Howard direct (and star in “Eat My Dust”). What I found kind of funny is that both movies had basically the same plot.
One of the best things Ron ever did was leave “Happy Days”. It was one of my favorite shows in high school until the September 1975 season. From that point on, to me, it became so bad and unrelatable, real junk. Pathetic, actually. Fred Silverman did not just change the show, he flushed it down the toilet.
When i read your comment i was sure you read mine about 10 years ago about happy days. When they went live, it went from a very cool, nostalgic well acted, realistic show to a teenie bopper joke of a show.
I was a huge happy Days, but I think the show got much better when it went to a live audience. The stories were varied and the relationship between the Cunninghams, Fonz and the rest of the gang was much more interesting and it was much more fun.
If Ron Howard had continued acting after Happy Days instead of directing he would've never been as successful as he was. He was already losing his hair and typecasting was a much bigger thing back in the 80s. He would've been viewed the rest of his career as Opie or Richie Cunningham trying to do grownup movie roles. He would've probably had to become a character actor which he's not really suited for.
Opie gets laid was my favorite Andy Griffith episode. Either that one or the one where Andy finds out Aunt Bee & Gomer were cooking & selling meth out of Wally's filling station.
"Parris Island Boys", the crossover about Gomer coming out of the closet is my all-time favorite. While technically an episode of Gomer Pyle USMC, it features several characters from the Andy Griffith show.

Ron mentioned the p0rn idea briefly on the Letterman show in the '80s. Why make it the headline except as a cheap attempt at click bait? I think we've found the level of this channel.
Graham's interviews are always good but I think his interviews with Ron Howard are noticeably BETTER.
Glad you enjoyed this one so much! -DF
I really enjoy Graham's process of engagement with his interviews. Execllant
Graham, luv your interviews. Thanks. Graham, Ron and Brian all great talents.
Opine Gets Laid would have been the moment where Ron Howard jumped the shark.

These are hardly in depth interviews. Also overlooked is the fact that Ron skipped acting throughout his teenage years.

Graham is a great interviewer.
He found his thrill on Blueberry Hill as I recall.
I thought they was going to talk about Sticks😂😂😂

Season one had a charm and authenticity that could not be maintained over the course of several years. But it didn't have to be so cartoonish.
My issue was the way they dumbed Potsie down.
I’ve never seen it.

Who is the actress in the thumbnail and still @ 0:41? is that a young Cheryl Ladd?
This is excellent
Class act.

Or a lifetime of playing father roles in sitcoms and lightweight comedies.
Let’s go Cardinals!

@ Lynn Turman. Was that supposed to be funny?
Mine , was Barney on a motorcycle.
Lol.

Darn I guess I missed those episodes.

Time was ticking when he was 26 or 27?
I have an idea about a buddy picture with an talking pie..,
Like Ron and love his movies. Don't care for his daughter.
Why do you feel the need to share that dissatisfaction? Weird world.

which one? Why?
They’re just sitting too close together it’s odd give him some personal space
What? You provided a glimpse into your weird little mind.
Watching clips about a film director and you don’t understand camera angles?! That’s sad.
Opie Cunningham!!!!
Nasat it's just enough to question
cool
I'm surprised his name wasn't Dong Howhard.
Opie Cunningham, Sex Machine
Click bait extraordinaire!
Seems to have worked, eh?

A sissy, I knew him when he'd come over to Grant High once and a while to play basketball in early 70s.
So?
Look where you are now compared to that sissy lol
That was a long time ago. Are you still the same person you were in the 70's? Sounds a bit like jealousy.
Hey Graham what was that baseball bat behind you
