In 1996 I was a deputy sheriff in Louisville Kentucky. There was a celebrity golf tournament held there each year, and I was lucky enough to be assigned as an escort for one of the scramble teams- Clint Howard, Ned Beatty, Mikey Jones, and Julie Hagerty! For two days I hung with them, drove them around, and dined with them. I cannot even begin to explain how NICE they all were! Absolute down to earth folks, and SO FRIENDLY!! It was one of the coolest moments in my law enforcement career lol.
he was the most adorable sweet little boy actor, just like his brother. Awesome guys and very good child actors who had great parents who didn't let Hollywood corrupt or lead them in the wrong direction.
He really seems like a genuine guy. He was just on Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossol Podcast and we got some great insight into a man with over 40 years in the business! Thanks, Clint.
The horse used too much time. Dave is a jerk for sure. He said "nice to meet you" after Clint already said he had been on the show and thanked Dave for that.
Many of us grew up watching Clint on TV. Although it's true that he shared the big screen with a giant bear, everyone's favorite show always seemed to be the Andy Griffith Show. His portrayal of Leon is just too funny beyond words. I think many of us guys can relate to wearing a cowboy outfit back when we were kids. In a time before political correctness sucked the life out of everything we say and do each day. I hope this interview wasn't really as short as it appears to be in this clip. Clint, thanks for being a part of our lives. I still watch some of your films and TV Shows from the past.
Loved Clint as Leon on The Andy Griffith Show. Would have been funny if he'd come on stage with his signature "partially eaten sandwich" in hand and then offered Dave a bite..
He is not taken serious as a actor on Letterman. This night he was a fill-in . It is a shame he never received the respect of most actors working side by side. He was always Ron Howard’s brother.
That was pretty cool. I kinda remember that show gentle Ben. But I lived with my grandparents and they always watched Flipper. Then I moved in with my Aunt and uncle and my Aunt love this show called lost in space. She loved the Robot B9 and Dr. Smith. And then she would let me watch Bat man. She was always there for me. Man I miss her. James Ray Bond.
I found this hysterical interview that Clint did online- Actor Clint Howard, brother of director Ron Howard, said he's no longer accepting roles because of his less than leading man looks. "Let's face it, I'm not easy to look at," Howard said from his suite at the Holiday Inn in suburban Indianapolis, where he was playing the lead in Showboat at the Big Top Musical Theater. Casting directors admit Howard was offered many of his jobs because of his rather mutant looking features. Howard was offered a role in the film Mask without even auditioning. The movie focuses on the short life of a teenage boy who suffers from a skull deformity. "Enough is enough. From now on I'm only going to take quality roles, leading roles." Directors in Hollywood have routinely rejected Howard for roles, even joking he had a face that could 'sink a thousand ships.' "They can kiss my dimpled ass from now on," Howard said, revealing his brown teeth. "I can act real good." Howard has enjoyed the good fortune to work over the years, largely due to roles given to him by his brother Ron Howard. A notion Clint Howard refutes. "I didn't get those jobs because I'm his brother. Pure acting skills, that's what it was." Associate producers on several of Ron Howard's films said Clint Howard was never auditioned and nobody else was up for the roles he played. "That's complete bullshit," Howard said, his thick eyebrow wrinkling. "I've heard those rumors. Just go ahead and ask my brother. Hell, I starred in fucking Gentle Ben. Ron wasn't even shit back then. Get your facts straight."
He seems like such a nice down to Earth fun guy. I hope he's still successful in anything and everything he want to achieve. He's a much more talented actor than he gets credit for. His parents really raised good and decent boys who turned in to good and decent nice men. They also seemed to really care about them as their sons, not as $$$$$$$ like so many parents of kid actors. The parents seemed like good people, too.
I always felt so sorry for him. One of the most adorable child actors who grew into one of the homeliest adults. (Same thing happened to Dickie Moore) So sad but at least he is financially secure. He actually looks pretty good in his 60's (and Ron has gotten very unattractive). Life can be so strange.
Ron Howard talked about his sudden & rapid hair loss as a young man and attributed it solely to the stress of being an actor. He said at the very worst moment his thick hair was literally coming out in clumps in his hands while showering. More like it runs in the family with his brother here and father going bald before age 30.
Their parents kept Clint and Ron so grounded ! Such a loving family !
Clint is underrated as an actor.

Greatt anecdote. I worked at a luxury hotel, and you never know who you will meet.
By any chance, did you ask Ned Beatty why in the world did he take that role in "Deliverance"?
Great interview! Loved Clint in everything! Great character actor.
he was the most adorable sweet little boy actor, just like his brother. Awesome guys and very good child actors who had great parents who didn't let Hollywood corrupt or lead them in the wrong direction.
I just finished reading The Boys, memoir of Ron and Clint. I really loved it.
Clint is one of the true greats of showbiz, he's a total pro and a nice guy who tells great stories.
What a chintzy interview! I wanted to see so much more from Clint.
Clint whenever you show up on the Big Screen it's always a joy … keep up the good work … !
When DAVE cut Clint off the interview, it reminded me of the reason I don't like Dave, " I have a horse coming on next "
@@caroncoache1753 ... I never was a Letterman fan.

Almost 60 years!*
He’s the man!
He also was on Star Trek. "The Corbomite Maneuver", 1966. He was so awesome.
Yes indeed
How old was he on that show?
Clint was 7 years old when he was on Star Trek😊
@@profilercms Clint was only 7 when he was on Star Trek😊
Please, have some tranyhah
No matter what video you watch there is always someone leaving rude comments, so tiring. Clint you are an awesome actor, keep up the great work! 😁
And he probably gets more leg than you do. Jealous much?
He made a really cool alien as Balok in Star Trek!
He's not rude because he always offers you a sandwich.
Clint is awesome. The negative comments are left by inadequate losers with no talent or skills.
@@Mozart1220 What do you mean when you say he gets more leg than you do? I don't get it.
Clint Howard will always be the character from star trek, little dude drinking "trania".
Creeps the hell out of me.
Balok 😳
Umm actually it's spelled Tranya🤓🖖
Thats what I thought of first ...Star Trek ! That was creepy.
I think he was in most star treks...ds9 and voyager for sure
Clints films are so crazy especially as he grew up. Great actor.
Clint is an awesome actor..and deserves all the best now and in the future..
He looked a little stunned that the interview was over so quick.
i think he must of been expecting 2 segments and they knocked it down to one
yeah he did. very likable more so than rude dave
The horse used too much time.
Dave is a jerk for sure. He said "nice to meet you" after Clint already said he had been on the show and thanked Dave for that.
I love that guy.
clint howard rules! loved him in evilspeak, ice cream man, and his cameos in horror movies.
His brief spot in Night Shift was Great
Only 27. The poor Howards didn't get to keep their hair long.

He made that PBJ look good.
Such a nice comment until you had to go full boomer and whine about "political correctness" on a topic that has nothing to do with it whatsoever
He always played a creepy or obnoxious guy in movies but he seems like a really nice guy IRL.
What a truly lovely guy.
He'll always be the "The Smog Strangler" who was also a very generous tipper!
Tobias Lehigh Nagy
Big fan - he has always been awesome and funny when he wants to be.
I watched Gentle Ben when I was a kid. I liked the program.
Loved Clint as Leon on The Andy Griffith Show. Would have been funny if he'd come on stage with his signature "partially eaten sandwich" in hand and then offered Dave a bite..
PB&J !
Gentle Ben was a great show!
I loved watching "Gentle Ben" as a kid! I even had a Gentle Ben lunchbox! 🙂
Yikes! Never, ever have I seen a Clint interview!
It was pretty cool! Thanks for posting!!
There's a really great interview with him and Joe Bob Briggs.
I loved ‘Gentle Ben’ and ‘Cotton Candy’ - He’s a great actor
If you haven't seen the Clint horror film ICE CREAM MAN, you're missing a hysterical classic.
Great actor!
I like him in "The Wraith" movie.
The best actor of his generation, hands down.
hard to argue with that
@@STEVEHEROLD Weeeeeell, I did like Gentle Ben.
😅🤣😂
Clint was also in the movie The Wraith with Charlie Sheen in 1986. AMAZING movie.
Both Clint and his dad Rance appeared in Seinfeld.
And both on the Andy Griffith show
He was on a Star Trek episode too.
And in the movie The Wraith with Charlie Sheen.
ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL With P.J Soles and the RAMONES comes to mind every time I see him. JS

Thank you, Steve.
don't forget Balok on Star Trek
Yeah that was great
Dave was too cheap to get a photo, I guess
This man is very talented and underrated. He has some great roles but capable of much more.
He always seems to make a small appearance on his brother's films.
That's always my fave thing! I look for the clint cameo.
Yes. Ron always gave Clint a small part in any film he directed. He'll still continue doing so, I'm sure.
Can't believe they didn't show a picture of BALOK!!!!
Tranya! I relish it!
I was looking for the same photo... LOL
A 4 minute interview? Wow, talk about Dave having been generous with his time.
Just like his brother and father, Hair today, Gone tomorrow!
Dave shouldn't have sat so close. Now all his hair has traveled down to his chin.
At least he doesn't wear a dopey baseball cap to cover his bald dome like his brother.
I recommend “The Boys,” published in March 2022, an autobiography by Ron and Clint Howard.
Clint Howard was a great actor.
One of my first childhood movies was gentle Ben from 1967. Kid was born to act.
Clint played also in an episode from Marcus Welby M.D.. he played the son of Diana Muldaur and he was very great.
For those who don't know, Sterling Holloway was the original voice of Winnie the Pooh.
Yes he was!
That was pretty cool.

James Ray Bond.
i love Clint!! This appearance was weird... i can't tell if David really likes him or is being off....
loved clint in the ice cream man
Nice guy. And I loved Paul Ford in "never too late"
He's a young Dennis Franz here.
Dave was pretty awkward with actors in those days.
A three bedroom house in Toluca Lake. If he still has that then he's doing very well.
How simpler things were back then. Look how nice people were. Lottery tickets.
They should really give Clint his own show!
Nice Steely Dan at the end.
Can't believe they did not show his "Star Trek" credit!
He was 27 here... He looks 50 😐
27 ??? 😂😂😂
Friggin Howard’s lose their hair young.
Happy Birthday, Clint Howard. (April 20)
When I saw him in Apollo 13, I had forgotten he was the baby-faced ships captain in Star Trek
He was scary on Star Trek
Seems like Dave kinda brushed him off
What a career

I always thought he was a dummy. That shows he's a damn good actor!
Clint is a cool dude..
I had a gentle Ben lunch box
Slinky, Tango & Cash
Not only did he have a full head of hair as a child actor is was blond as hell. Amazing how dark it got as he got older.
We need 1978 TV movie "Cotton Candy" released to DVD or at least a clean UA-cam version....
Its leon from the andy Griffith show
Remember him in Austin Powers as the guy from NASA when Dr Evils spaceship was in outer space
I thought all of the comments would mention that

The ice cream man 😭

Letterman's a jerk - always has been. I never could figure out why he was popular.
Lexi Groban, me neither. He was such a condescending host. I don't understand why he was popular then.
@William he unzipped his pants first
He is the typical lefty
Dave came off as a prick
The cutest kid on TV back then... Oh then , timmy .,, Lassies owner ...
Great video. This guy is very interesting, he has the most striking eyes, I don't want to be offensive but his eye are the strangest I've ever seen.
Check out Charles Manson's eyes. ;-)
Love the bear. Love child performance s !
Wow, that was super quick and hardly an interview.
How about some Tronya?

Surprise, David Letterman didn’t show that Clint Howard played a space alien on Star Trek with William Shatner
Seems like a nice guy.
He was funny in The Waterboy.
Clint is definitely not living in his brother's shadow.
And so what if he is?
