3:30 The dashcam info says she was driving at 104km/hr and most if not all of highways leading into richmond are 80km/hr limit. ICBC probably saw that and said if she were going slower, she could’ve had time to react and avoided the tire

I heard of a story, a guy on his sports bike riding along the mountains. Big white van was pulled over and decides to do the same U turn. Bam crashed and made the van into a V shape. Rider broke knees and elbows, luckily he was alive but had to go thru a long rehab.

Ten years driving downtown Vancouver for Loomis; a.m. and p.m. when rush hour was at it's worst. 200 plus stops a day, dark rainy when no pedestrian had reflective clothing. Got out just before the bike courier craze. Silk jacket for ten years no accidents, no complaints, no body dead. Must have had God as my co-pilot. Couldn't do it today.
My dad has been riding in bike to work for about 15-20 years and he's been hit by cars 3 times!
Hitting a tire on a dark road should have been covered under comprehensive!😡😡😡

She shouldn’t have been charged for that tire on the road! My husband hit a tire on the road by the ferry in daylight and he had no problem. That sucks.

Damn the regular gas price in Vancouver must be crazy. I live in Quebec and the price was about 1.17.9 before the pandemic in my area. Now it's almost half. I saw a gas station at 68.9 the other day and I've never seen it this low.

7:28 I believe the truck driver is in the wrong, correct me if I'm wrong but when you are being tested on your L, I remember that it is basically your job (as the person who wants to switch lanes) to find a safe opportunity to, not the drivers in the lane you want to go in, if you can, you are supposed to speed up to safely merge and if it looks like you can't get enough distance, you should just let the person pass first
I was going to wendy's on cambie, and driving along kingsway and 10th, turning left down onto I believe 7th ave. Some guy passes me and does a u-turn at the lights, where he ends up sitting past the stop line facing 10th, in the intersection blocking the road. I honk at this guy sitting in the intersection 3x until he pulls forward and sits in the middle of the lanes 5m ahead. Love bad drivers xD

I agree, the tire in the middle of the highway, late at night, should have been 'comprehensive' through ICBC. There's no way to see that in time at night. The driver was in the correct 'traveling' lane. C'mon ICBC
Let's see icbc besr driver and see him avoid a tire at night placed randomly. Seems like a trucker shldve picked up his shrapnel or debris. Probably kill a motorcyclist if they hit that tire
What's funny is. Honda gives you tire coverage which they repair your tyre. And claim the cost from icbc and justify it by 'hit metal object at night' at least that is what honda told me.
7:30 it seems like the truck driver would be at fault, but it would be 50/50 according to icbc. The truck driver does have to yield. But there was space at the start. And to icbc, closing off an open space to block someone from changing lanes makes you responsible.
Watching this in 2022 and I was so happy to find cheap gas today at $2.14. 😥

Gas is only 79.9 here in Moose Jaw. Cheapest I've seen since I was a kid, back in the 80s and 90s. It's 66.9 in Regina.

I believe guy wanted to do a scam, so he could get compensation for his already damaged bumper and injuries for whiplash for himself and for his friend. That dash cam paid for itself. Video evidence for insurance and Police.

For the dump truck, he tried to do the right things. He had his signals going and he was ahead. Most cars will let big vehicles move in as there is a big disadvantage if you get in an accident also the car had no courtesy for the dump truck.Either pass the dump truck or stay behind so he could maneuver the oversize vehicle. Technically dump truck is at fault. Personal view they are both at fault, basically fighting for road space.

Passed in 1972 or 3; for two years the Province elected a party that basically the WSJ and Barrons' called Communist. They protected farm land, brought in insurance, as American companies were raping people. MOST of their legislation is still on the books. It's a good system, currently also changing, like any system. The Province is like Japan in that they don't like out of area vehicles, including machineryi and ATV, quads. so you have to prove provenance from when it was bought. Too many bikers and vehicle gangs selling shit in other places, rolling back odometers. We don't have that problem. I have "pedestrian" insurance for 28 bucks a year in case a wheelchair or bike runs over me, or an uninsured when I'm on the sidewalk!!! You CAN get your own comprehensive as private insurance, if you want. but basic is govt. and you file stays active, so you don't start all over as a good driver discount if you don't have a car for a year, like private insurers. Claims are more straight forward as well. You also get a lawyer as your advocate. Private insurers won't do that unless forced.
I'm an ICBC vender and unfortunately that dose fall under a collision claim. I feel bad for Amy as that's a lot of out of pocket expense.
Same would apply in other Provinces... sucks but ultimately she ran over something that damaged her car... unless she can identify who the tire belonged to.
As someone who drives on highways at night a lot, I can tell you that if you can't see a tire on the road in time to avoid it, you are going too fast. It's called "overdriving your headlights." I have come across plenty of tire remnants and other junk at night and in the rain, and I can see them far ahead, and I don't have those super beam LED projector headlights, just standard run of the mill halogens in reflectors. My secret? I do 90 unless I can use my high beams, or if there is enough traffic for a hazard on the road to create a slowdown. I also slow down if I see anything that looks like it might not be flat road, even if it's just a weird reflection.

7:30 car is in the wrong. If you are behind someone signalling a lane change you need to give way. Vancouverites seem to think that a blinky light means to step on the gas. It was clear the dump truck wanted to change lanes.
Well the truck still needs to yield. Just because someone is using a turn signal does not mean you are required to yield. The only time you have to is with transit vehicles

I drive a bright white car that is almost impossible to not see and I can't tell you how many times I've been cut off and almost hit. That Katkorot should stay off the road.

Pretty amazing how there weren't MORE accidents in this video. As for the truck @7:17 - just because you put your indicator on doesn't equal free pass to change lanes whenever you feel like it. Granted, it was also kind of a dick move by the car to not let the truck in. This all could've been avoided if the car was a little courteous and let the truck in. Pretty sure a huge chunk of accidents and road rage incidents could be avoided if this were the case... definitely something I'm trying to be more mindful when driving.

Ya but technically all rear enders are the fault of the person behind. In this situation I think it's crazy because it's obvious the other driver did that on purpose

1:05- In most cases the turning Van would be at fault for failing to yield, The car probably should have stopped but chose not too. What makes it funnier is the car behind the van just blatantly ran the red afterwards.

1:45- What was worse about this clip is that the douche canoe in the truck had the audacity to flip off the cammer.
At 7:30 I think I know who that dump truck driver is. He has a reputation for that kind of behaviour on the East-West Connector. (HINT: He's from Surrey!)
I had a barge loading in False Creek and had to send away one of every five dump drivers. they couldn't BACK UP their own rig, and the city disallowed lineups on the street, so it was dump and run.

ICBC has historically never paid for hitting objects/animals on the road. The only exception is when the animal is moving.
Too many people turning .001 seconds after they signal. Lost my minitruck cause some idiot did this. Signal for a couple seconds, THEN turn. People that do shitty turns like this are so quick to blame others when they get into a collision.
