    U-Turn Turntables
    Vinyl albums are an item of pure beauty. From the album art, the shiny black disc, the liner notes, and the listening experience; vinyl records capture as much or more mojo and magic than the music was originally recorded with. The album is only half of the equation though... you need a turntable.
    U-Turn Audio out of Woburn, MA is producing some remarkably beautiful turntables that function as amazing as they look.
    The Orbit turntable made by the fine folks at U-Turn Audio is a fully customizable turntable that you can design to your specific music loving wants and needs. You can pick the color, platter style, cartridge type, and many more custom options making these turntables built exactly for you.
    Jack Rose
    Jack Rose easily has carved out a spot among the upper echelon of American primitive guitarists, yet he somehow flies under the radar. He has been compared to John Fahey, Peter Lang, and many other guitarists associated with this raw, solo guitar style. Although the comparisons are aplenty, Jack is unique in his tone, approach, and his compositions.
    His compositions alone drip creativity. When you drop the needle on any of his records you need to brace yourself for a sonic journey that is full of curve balls, detours, and a tone that encapsulates all things American primitive guitar. He embraces dissonance in such a way that it becomes his musical fingerprint and he uses it to create an oddly comfortable vibe.
    G7th Heritage Capo
    Yoke capos are one of the most convenient capo types available. They are beautifully designed to stay on your guitar when not in use, and very easy to recruit when a capo is necessary. For a while there was really only one high end yoke capo option until this company came along...
    G7th capos have made quite the name for themselves in the capo world with some very sleek designs. Namely, their performance and performance 2 capo took the guitar world by storm with their ease of use, reliability, and aesthetic appeal. Funny thing though, G7th is the type of company that never stops innovating or asking players what they want or need out of their capo... which is where their new heritage capo came from.

    #smallwin When my guitar teacher goes on tour with his band every few months he brings in a substitute to take his classes. I saw the sub the first time in April. He came again in July. As he watched me play he had this big smile on his face. He said, wow, you've really made some progress. He reminded me of where I was back then versus where I am now and said the difference was amazing. I guess that's what comes from joining TAC and practicing every day. So thank you, Tony, Noah and Levi.

    Hey guys! So pleased the CD arrived with you safely. Thank you SO much for checking it out, I’m really glad you enjoyed it! I’m not sure it’s a concept album as it doesn’t necessarily have a story behind the pieces or the structure. The idea to do two versions of each piece came out of the fact that my go-to music to listen to is generally heavier stuff, full band and occasionally instrumental, yet what I play is acoustic fingerstyle. My love for metal has always been present in my fingerstyle music, so I wanted to experiment and add extra instruments just to see how it turned out. The experience was so rewarding that I can say with confidence that I will definitely approach my next record in the same way. I’ve since had a 7 string acoustic built for me, so this will lend itself very well to the heavier versions of the songs.
    I’ve just ordered my guitarsenal tshirt, I’ll be sure to include the acoustic 7 string in the photo!
    Thank you again for reading my letter and checking out the CD. I’m a massive fan of the channel, so this really means a lot to me.

    From Dover, Pa. #SmallWin I tuned my Taylor 855ce 12 string up to standard and found that it's not as hard to play as I thought. I may have to buy another 12 string I can tune down a step like I always had always done before. Cheers to all from the Acoustic Tuesday Show!

    This episode sparked my interest in yoke style capos! My first capo was just a bar with elastic band (~$1 in 1965). My next was a yoke style Hamilton (~$4 in 1967), then to a Hamilton self-tensioning (~$6 in 1969). I recently bought a D'Addario Planet Waves NS Tri-action. Don't know how it will hold up; but, it's not bad (especially for ~$15).
    Now - I want to explore better quality capos!
    Enjoyed the show!Steve from Texas

    #largewin So I design custom electronics and last WED I delivered two really cool products last week @ Express Live! in Columbus Ohio. I do all the amps & isolation speaker cabinets for front man of Barenaked Ladies guitar and singer Ed Robertson. Ed uses my setup for both acoustic and electric guitars. I will work up a drawing of this crazy setup soon. Ed's son Lyle is heading to Berklee College of Music for guitar in the fall. Ed had informed me of this on the Rock Boat last FEB. I was following Lyle and Arden on the boat and had this inspiration. I grabbed a pen and paper and an IPA and headed out on the deck to design POYP. Piss off your Parents (hopefully not). This design was pretty crazy. Anyway it ended up being an acoustic/electric amp with transformer coupled DI output, headphone output and a bunch of things no other company would do. Last WED I delivered this to Ed and he flipped and then a bunch of other people tried it, the techs (all of which are crazy good guitarists) Kevin Hern the guitar/keyboard player and others on stage before sound check. I also showed up with a new 10" isolation cabinet that is under 40 pounds and will work for BNL when they travel outside of NA (i.e. flying). I got a huge shout out during the show and they wrote me a theme song and played it during the show. Also KT Tunstall and Better than Ezra was flippin crazy. Great time!

    I will add a couple of notes on the G7th Heritage Capo. My quest for the best capo (been through a ton of them) was to find one that would fit the various radii of my guitars (9"-16") PLUS be able to fret my 12 string Taylor without buzz. No capo has surmounted that challenge until the Heritage. I bought the six-string wide version to accommodate my Martin 000-28vs AND the 12 string. I noticed that the pad on the 12 string version had a different (saw tooth) pad. So I spoke with Simon Campling at G7th about this and he sent me the 12 string pad for free. They are easily exchanged but there is no need as the 12 string pad works perfectly on the six string AND it frets the 12 string perfectly. All problems solved in one capo that has a lifetime warranty. Outstanding customer service. Highly recommended. Should you ditch your Elliot? Probably not Tony. Every Elliot capo user I've spoken with is devoted to theirs.
    I did a two-part UA-cam video on my Heritage. The second part shows the replacement of the ART pad from 6 string to 12 string.
    ua-cam.com/video/Z-phn1VIcFg/v-deo.html
    PS: I should also note that I had a G7th Newport Capo fall apart on me and G7th sent me a new one free of charge or postage within a week! Unbelievable.

    #SmallWin CAPOS. I bought a brand new 12 string Shubb capo. I found that my old standard 90's Shubb worked better because the rubber had softened over the years and worked much better on the 12 string than the new one. Also with a Shubb, you can tune down the guitar a whole step, put the Shubb on the 2nd fret only covering the first 5 strings. Instant "D" tuning and the chord shapes are normal!

    Greetings from the SF Bay Area. #smallwin: my greatest, latest small win is the purchase of a new guitar, a 1993 Bourgeois OM ( number 53 in Bourgeois' production), with a cedar top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides. My first impression was, "Wow, this is a LOUD guitar!", loud, but with deep resonant tones -- rich, powerful lows, ringing highs, and a clear, articulate mid range. It is a stunning instrument, as I know you can imagine, given your reverence for Bourgeois' guitars. I am now in the process of re-recording all of my tunes to be sure they sound as good as they possibly can.

    #SmallWin 42 years ago I played the banjo but let life get in the way and put it down. Recently with an empty nest I decided to pick up the guitar and banjo, so looking around the house and there it was "the banjo" :) It still plays perfectly (stored in a nice hard case the whole time). I did put new strings on even though the 40+ year old strings did tune. PS: In the case is the original hand written reciept from Sam Ash in NY from April 1976 where I spent $479 for banjo and case.

    Great show Tony. I have a question about your capo comparisons with the G7 Heritage and Elliot capos. Solid breakdown on them both. My question is from your own experience what makes these two capos $100 better than the typical capos. I love my Shubb, and I'm trying to understand why either one of these Yoke style capos is worth that substantial investment. I appreciate the education. Rick

    • @plumiegirl47

      I have a Thailia capo and it does the job. I kind of like that you can leave the G7 on your guitar and it has a lifetime guarantee but the company is only 11 years old. I liked their web site. For me I am playing for fun beginner so it works for me for now.

    • @tacguitar
      @tacguitar  6 років тому +2

      Rick, Great question here and I believe the price is related to both the material and the fact that these are precision machined capos. In my experience with both of these capos there is a significant impact that they have on tone due to how solidly built they are. Because of the tighter tolerances on both of these capos I feel that there may be more resonance maintained. Just my two cents :-) Nothing wrong with the Shubb I still use mine frequently :-)

    Tony & Noah!
    Greetings from the Windy City as I mentally prepare to do my 3rd open mic in the last 40 years. Maybe you can help me (and probably many others. As a person that grew up with size 13 shoes and size 8 hats, both (at the time) very hard to come by, I am now faced with a familiar dilemma in that most fingerpick manufacturers 'large' size really doesn't cut it for the size of my hands. I'm not a giant, only 6'3" , but no-one seems to realize that ALL kinds of people would like to play fingerstyle. Since this isn't an overly complicated mechanism we're talking about, maybe by you addressing it on AT the awareness can be slightly raised. Thanks.
    Keep on keeping on!
    Don Loe

    • @tacguitar
      @tacguitar  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching Don!!! Two pick manufacturers that may be able to accommodate or at least worth reaching out to to see if they make a larger pick would be ProPik (Guptill Music Inc), or Acri Fingerpicks. These folks may be able to do custom picks :-) In the meantime I will keep my eye out :-)

    With this new Capo from G7th, I see another problem. Yes the pad will "tilt", but its curve remains the same. This is why I have asked you a couple of times to test the Thalia Capo. They have separate INSERTS to fit an individual fret profile. The profile on the G7th remains the same. It just leans to grab the higher strings better. They come with 7 different profile inserts. www.thaliacapos.com/ ... I do not work for nor do I represent anyone from Thalia. I just think its an awesome capo that nobody knows about.
