    Oh yeah!! Chris Knight, my favorite artist. My only prayer is my favorite song because I'm a good old boy stuck in the big city and it sucks! Awesome artist and my close favorite to him actually is Colter wall because of you introducing his music on your video. Thank you sir.

    I watched this episode a few days before Thanksgiving. This was great for me since my plastic skeletons are still about the house and are staying for a while. Couldn't find my severed arm though but I do have a severed foot. Halloween should run at least to the day before T-giving. Thank You for extending this. And of course the guitar geek stuff is always a holiday. Tuesdays are holidays and this missed episode was a true blessing. Thanks Y'all! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

    Hi Tony, Noah and Levi from Ludlow, Shropshire, England. I picked the show up from around AT35 and have watched since, as well as catching up on the back catalogue. I have learned so much and been introduced to many new artists. Thank you a truly great show. I would add a side note re Halloween coming up. We have a couple of villages down in the Cotswolds called Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter. Nothing to do with witches or ghoulish things, but a fun snippet. Have a great Halloween.

    Hey Tony, I love your acoustic Tuesdays. I watched a video where you had a Bourbon, honestly my favorite beverage. Joseph from Wisconsin around Madison, I think why I love your channel so much is even though I have electrics, resonators but my favorite guitars are my D28 Martin and believe or not I bought a Fender DG60 I travel with. Guitar snobs would say it’s a cheap guitar but I am one with this guitar. Keep up the awesome work and keep drinking the good Bourbon, Evan Williams is my brand, what’s yours?
    Take care Tony, heading downstairs to entertain my dogs, stay cool and keep these episodes coming.

    #littlewins I have been playing my guitar for about 4 years. I have always wanted to play since 4 grade. I finally started playing 4 years ago and since then I have been really getting better. I have been getting a lot better and many people have committed that I'm getting really good. I'm tuning in from Iowa.

    Hey All. I was just watching some old videos from acoustic Tuesday when I came across Tony’s favourite singer, That’s right, Molly Tuttle. And I can see why she is loved by not only Tony, but a lot of people. She makes flat picking look so easy it’s unbelievable, so I wanted to try it. Well, I failed terribly, lol, man, I could use some tips, so from a fellow amateur acoustic guitar player, I’m calling in a favour for all tips I can get. Than you

    How do you play a song where you have regular chords and barre chords while using a capo for those barre chords?

    • @tacguitar
      @tacguitar  6 років тому +1

      Victoria, One thing that helps is starting to learn basic transposition, meaning taking a song from one key and moving it to another. This will help inform capo position and if a capo can indeed replace any of the barre chords :-)

    Shoutout from South Bohemia, Czech Rep.
    I own 2 Furchs and intimately know quite a few others. Proud to have such a high quality guitar maker here!
    [Furk] is a little more correct pronunciation but not quite there yet. By the way the name is most likely of German origin. We pronounce it the same eg. Scotts say "Loch" like Loch Ness. Or, speaking of music, the same way you'd say J. S. Bach.
    Czech (look, there's that ch again..) Republic has long musical tradition, many famous composers, in the classical era close relationships with Italy, Austria, Germany. Also Jazz, Swing, Folk, Country and later Bluegrass had strong following and solid player base here. Tho nowadays it all seems inclined toward Rock and Pop and YT a bit too much.

  • @LexingtonDaniel
    @LexingtonDaniel 6 років тому

    Another capo use: There are songs where we have 3 guitars going in my band... I'm on a Baritone so I'm a fourth below. One of the other guys is playing in first position and the third guitar capos up to grab different inversions. If we were all first position regular tuning it'd sound muddy and we'd be stepping all over each-other but having the three different positions using different chord shapes mixes it up enough to give us separation and complexity to the song.

    • @LexingtonDaniel
      @LexingtonDaniel 6 років тому

      For example if I'm playing a D (shaped like an open G on the baritone) one of the other guys is playing an open D shape like normal and the third is capoed at the 10th using an E shape

    Hello from the Outer Banks NC. #smallwin - after 20+ years of guitar playing I've been asked to join a band. We'll see how this goes, fingers crossed. #famjam : My 11 year son , a drummer, has now gotten to the point there HE comes to ME to ask to play/practice music together, the best part is seeing how happy he is when we "get it right", so fun. Finaly, I have a question: How do you fly on a commercial flight with your guitar? I've had nothing but bad luck with this.

    • @tacguitar
      @tacguitar  6 років тому

      James, Thanks for watching!!! As for flying there are two approaches. 1.) You can ship it to your destination this way it is insured or 2.) invest in a flight case this way if you have to check it at least you have some solid protection, but above that you should try and keep your guitar in hand all the way to the gate until they either gate check it or allow you to bring it on the plane :-)

    #smallwin I've been playing live since march at open mics. last Sunday an incredible musician named Teddy Boy Roix (older musician who is just the coolest guy) went up after I played this one open mic I've rarely ever played. The guy running the open mic walked up to me and told me I should have no issue getting paid to play around town and even that Teddy Boy had said to him "finally someone worth going up after" I don't know anything about Teddy Boy as far as his musical accomplishments, however at this particular establishment, he is obviously the most respected musician. Having his blessing was awesome. After he played he came up and shook my hand, asking if we'd met before, and telling me how great he thought I was. It was truly a #smallwin

    Tony, you forgot as part of Halloween jokes to say the guitar has some "killer" tones... I knew about Furch guitars, but despite the fact they are made 6 hours away from where I live in Germany it seems it is easier to find them in stores in the US than in Germany. So far I have never seen one in any shop I visited.

    Austin, TX. Love show! I wish y'all would give one playing tip each show and end every show with a quick tutorial on a song ending flourish, so at the end of the year we would all have 52 flourishes we could all use and credit Acoustic Life TV. You could have people send in their original flourishes too and have a "Name That Flourish" weekly contest and then we could all identify the flourishes by name! God Bless!

    #youknowyouareaguitargeek when you are losing sleep over the sharp point on your string snip pliers and they are spring loaded so won't close in your guitar case's toolbox, so you get up in the middle of the night and pull the springs off the snips with pliers and then Dremel the snip tips to a nice soft round and now you can go back to sleep knowing next string change if you slip you won't scar your guitar's top or bridge!

    I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all you do. Most of all, giving acoustic artists a review and bringing them to light to average joes like me. Up until I have discovered this show, i have grown tired of mainstream music and thanks to you I now enjoy all of the artists you have on the show. To name a few of my favorites Caitlin Canty, Otis Gibbs, Jeffrey Foucault, and Benjamin Tod along with Lost Dog Street Band. You guys keep up the good work and once again thanks for changing my life for the better.

    My thing is using alternate tunings so a capo is useful for when I want something like DADGAD but everyone else is in standard. I'll just put a capo on the 2nd fret so I don't have to tune strings higher than their standard pitch & risk breaking a string.

    # SMALL WINS.......Here is a small win..... I bought my first classical guitar a Córdoba C5. The hysterical part of this purchase, is I live in Alabama, and my guitar decided to go out west to Colorado and back to the distributor where I made my order. After calling this distributor and asked if they knew where Alabama is, they told me there are two hubs for UPS and it was misplaced. Either way my new guitar decided to take a road trip before coming home to me. Small funny win for sure... 😂😂😂 feel free to announce this on your show. My name is Jackie from Albertville, Alabama 👍. Thank you and love the show.

    Thanks for another great show! Another use for capo (at least for me), is to provide wider effective nut width. For example, on my 1-11/16" nut, capo on 2nd fret changes to 1-3/4" nut. This makes fingering some chord/runs/segues a lot easier (for me, a number of Neil Young songs). Shout out for the spot on Furch (Fu'ruch - almost 2 syllables, "ch" like church, and roll the "r" - I grew up in a Czech community) guitars! Love 'em! I reckon y'all are doin' a mighty fine job! Steve from Brazoria, TX (trivia: y'all is a contraction of "ye all" the plural of "ye" and came to America from Scottish immigrants!)

    #YouKnowYouAreAGuitarGeekWhen, PLUS, #SmallWin You look around you, and on the carpet are a dozen picks of various colors. You don't pick them up. Why would you? There are 50 more within arms reach, and the colors look so much like fallen leaves, and you realize your October decorating is done. THEN, you think about Eva Cassidy's haunting version of 'Autumn Leaves'. Listen to it and understand how to find the key, then ID the chords and changes, then learn the song right then and there, because you have taken Tony's Fretboard Wizard course three times, and it is starting to stick. TRUTH. (So grateful for the good work you all do.) - Claudia M, Wyoming

    The #guitarsenal who named all their guitars with female names is cool. I have a male guitar named "Chuck". My human friend Chuck passed away some years ago. He gave me a song to keep as my own, that he wrote. It's called "The Trailer Song". CHORUS: "Trailer's aren't made for everyday life, with cheap walls of paneling that looks so nice. There's stains on the ceiling where the water comes in, and I don't think I'll ever buy a trailer again". Thanks Chuck, I miss you.
