Seeing your darling dog, waiting for his chicks, made me cry. I had a Springer Spaniel who did exactly the same when we had chicks. Even when they were hatched by the broody hens, he would alert us by not leaving their nesting box, telling us that the first babies were here. Sadly he died suddenly. You provoked a very precious, tender memory that I think I had deliberately quashed, because it's still recent. Thank you. xx God bless you and keep you all safe.
It’s always sad when a memory in the form of a tear rolls down you cheek....I can understand that this precious video made you cry...take care, stay safe and healthy!
When I was a child we raised pigs. Sometimes we had to bring the runt in & bottle feed it. We had a poodle that would wake mom up when the little pigs squealed & wanted to be fed.
Don’t forget that you can harvest the root part of the cilantro, the thick white stems right under the surface, the root part is used in a lot of Asian dishes, especially used it paste form where you grind it down or process it into any marinade or curry paste
That lettuce looks heavenly!!!! Making my mouth water! And the spinach!!! My favorite green leaf!!!!! That was super awesome!!!!! AWE Bubba is the sweetest thing ever!!!
Thank you for sharing your early vegetable harvest and your new chicks with all of us. It truly helped to lift up my day. Bless all of your family for these precious moments.
Love today's video. Bubba is so caring and attentive. Good boy Bubba. Loved your garden harvest too. I can't wait to have my own home grown garden. Starting some seeds today's indoors. Thanks for sharing. God bless 💗🌻🙏💗🌻🙏
Good morning Sarah and Kevin ! Really enjoyed watching your harvesting in the greenhouse, great job. The Poppa Pooch watching over his brood was priceless, he has his job cut out and will step up and do his duty.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
We looked back for this one again. Thanks for all you show, teach and do, and for your cheerful attitude toward events. We wanted to see how you arranged your greenhouse. We are 82 & 72, and are only a year into this new era of our life. We have forgotten almost everything we ever knew as kids.
Preserve herbs by putting some plants in puts in your kitchen-fresh and available! Cilantro also lasts long cut when they sit in some water in a glass.
The green house is absolutely wonderful and a lot of work but well worth the harvest for sure. Love your puppy and how he talked to you with his eyes, wagging tail and soooo sweet over the baby chicks. Great system on chicks for sure. Enjoy your GREENS lol and saving lots of green $$$ at the store for outdated greens. Gods blessings and thank you for sharing.
Congrats on your brusting springtime on the homestead, fresh food & new baby chicks what a delightful day. I just picked our chicks up Thurs and their doing great! God bless you and the girls 😍🙏💞👼
My favorite salad for tender lettuces like what you harvested is a Wilted Leaf Lettuce Salad. We fry bacon, boil eggs, add chopped scallions or finely diced onions and make a warm vinaigrette with the bacon fat, vinegar, a little sugar and water. It makes a delicious lunch as it is hearty with the crumbled bacon and eggs in the salad.
Ì do something similar in the Summer but I add Chicken and Tarragon to the Vinaigrette sometimes even a couple of New Potatoes (Especially when the first Jersey Royals appear) . It makes a great lunch or dinner and it's a big hit served as a starter to a dinner party.
Let some of the cilantro go to seed and you get coriander. You can also dehydrate cilantro. Not as good as fresh. Maybe try infusing olive oil or vinegar (note: never tried these but in my head it makes sense lol).
I let mine go to seed and then reseed themselves for a fall crop. I then cover it with cloth and it will keep in the garden all winter. In spring, it will take off and start over again.
Corriander seed is amazing in homemade pickles. Cillantro is one of those plants that doesn't lend its self well other than fresh. I dry some by just lining a shoe box with paper towel and set it in a sunny window to dry. I add it to Mexican rice or add it to salsa if I don't have fresh.
I love Bubba. I'm so glad that he got to see the chicks once they were in the tub. Thanks for sharing your first harvest of this year. I've been harvesting kale and romaine for about a month, but I'm in a warmer region. Thanks, too, for the tip on drying and powdering kale to use in soups, etc. I so enjoy your channel!
All right! You guys Rock, this green house plan worked out in a big way. You are so proactive in getting the garden growing and eating well all winter. You guy's are sooooo good. God bless
I talk about your videos so often that my hubby is starting to know who I mean when I say “Kevin” or “Sarah.” 😂 Another great video, thank you so much! This has a great solution to a problem I had with getting a new batch of chicks this year (I have some 20-week roosters ready for freezer camp, and need to buy some pullet chicks to replace them), when it’s still too cold out for chicks less than a month old. We’re trying very hard to keep things small and not grow faster than our budget in our homestead efforts. I’m grateful to have channels like yours to look to for ideas and inspiration!! Keep up the great work!
Does anything beat the sound your shears make cutting thru fresh greens? Wonderful!! Bubba needs a pay raise for his babysitting services!!! BTW, watch out for those late season freezes where you are!!
You are blessed with nice weather. I could finally see the ground, all tho brown. The snow was almost all gone. Snowed yesterday !! Should be gone by Monday. Everything is looking and growing great in the GH. Love the chickies. You can tell alot about people by the way they are with animal's and kids. Your GOOD people. Stay safe and healthy. God bless.
Bubba stole the show bless him, Im impatiently waiting for my seeds to germinate, love to see those little green shoots appear. Chicks are looking so good and yes Id like to check back and see weather the pointy eggs did produce cockerels. Enjoy the first harvest
I am so glad I have made you part of day for the past few years. I really enjoy the positivity you spread during this time. I live in Western NY and cant wait to get back into my gardens. With all this stay home time I have I have done as much work as weather had allowed but craving warmer weather. Stay well and safe. Love you guys like family
I look forward to your videos every other day. I started my homestead about 2 1/2 years ago when a group donated a bunch of meat rabbits to us. Initially I thought, I would just butcher and be done, then found your channel on meat rabbits and thought I would give it a go. We had chickens for eggs and a garden. Since beginning watching your channel, I have added dual purpose barred rock chickens, Quail, rabbits, expanded our garden, began a green house, and elevated garden beds both inside the green house as well as in the garden, and have begun bucket gardening. My husband was initially resistant to meat rabbits, but has since begun to love it in tacos (lunch today), ground as burgers and in meat loaf, as breakfast sausage, in rabbit pot pie (which is dinner tonight) and rabbit and dumplings (dinner last night). We are currently hatching out barred rock in our incubators (we have 2) 1st batch to hatch in 9 days second in 14 days. They are much smaller than the cornish cross when you put in the freezer, however very tasty, and we want to be as self sufficient as possible, though not as cost effective with feed as your route. My daughter just bought a homestead and closed 3/13. You and your family are our role models. Thank you for all you have shared and inspired.
Thank you so very much for this one. I needed a smile. The greens made my mouth water and I loved the dog and chicks. I live in Italy and things are very bad here. And so sad. There are hardly any people who do not know someone who has died in the last month. Funerals are forbidden and no buriels. So cute cheepie chicks and yummy greens was a big boost. Be safe and keep smiling, we need it out here. Give bubba a hug.
Great video this morning Sarah! It just warmed my heart to see Bubba and the baby chicks are so gosh darn cute! Thank you for all you share with us. Take care! ~Lisa
Our Rotwieller is besotted with the chicks when we get them, she lies by their pen and sleeps but wakes at the least little chirp she hears. Very sweet
Guys i just wanna thank you for sharing what u do ,i love your channel and in this crazy world of ours at the moment i just love watch your vids and forget about the madness 😀👏👏👏
I needed this today. We are in frightening times and some but not all will go on this video made me peaceful i am raised up from a low spot. Thank you and your family.
So excited for you and spring is springing up everywhere. Loved the garden already bursting for you in the greenhouse. Looks so delicious. The chicks are so cute and I am glad to see them ......... so cute and exciting. I am glad to see you both healthy and doing well. Stay in that wonderful fresh air and enjoy your gardening and animals ............so fun to watch spring popping out! Blessings
Suggestion- if you fill the bowl with cold water while picking, the lettuce stays turgid. No water, the greens go limp on their way to the kitchen.
Gee, you both are as cute as your little chicks. Bubba was lovely too. So do include him more on your videos, if possible please. ♥️
It’s always sad when a memory in the form of a tear rolls down you cheek....I can understand that this precious video made you cry...take care, stay safe and healthy!
God bless y’all. i will pray for both of you
We had a border collie when we were kids that would lick our ducklings dry after a swim in the laundry tub, dogs are wonderful
When I was a child we raised pigs. Sometimes we had to bring the runt in & bottle feed it. We had a poodle that would wake mom up when the little pigs squealed & wanted to be fed.
I feel your pain. I have a small Chihuahua who is my world. She's 11 and I don't know how I'll go on living when she dies.
Don’t forget that you can harvest the root part of the cilantro, the thick white stems right under the surface, the root part is used in a lot of Asian dishes, especially used it paste form where you grind it down or process it into any marinade or curry paste
Cilantro bolts extremely fast especially once it starts warming up in a high tunnel
A positive attitude when many are fearful is one way to draw others to the peace we have in God.
lechatbotte amen
Mr Turkey in the greenhouse doorway!!! Bubba waiting for his chicks!!!!! 😍 LOVE IT
I can't wait to see how many hens vs roosters you got to see if the pointy egg theory is true! Beautiful harvest also! Thank you for sharing.
I wondered too!!!
I am from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, frankly, I admire these agricultural designs, as well as raising chickens. Thank you for that
Bubba, the Chick Daddy, made me smile. Thanks for such an uplifting video, food for the soul.
Watching those chicks brought tears to my eyes. Life is so amazing! Thanks for the whole video. I long for spring so much.
The dog with the chicks was so cute. The spinach made me want to get mine growing now lol
That lettuce looks heavenly!!!! Making my mouth water! And the spinach!!! My favorite green leaf!!!!! That was super awesome!!!!! AWE Bubba is the sweetest thing ever!!!
Love the white chicky!
Oh my gosh how bubba is with the chicks!! It's so cute I can't handle it 😍😭
Thank you for sharing your early vegetable harvest and your new chicks with all of us. It truly helped to lift up my day. Bless all of your family for these precious moments.
Bubba is adorable! I love how he looks at all the chicks.
I just love baby chicks...they are so addicting! I have a cat that loves to get in my brooder and sleep with my chicks. And she will not hurt them!
Bubba is precious & protective of his baby chicks 🐤 Sarah your gorgeous greens 🥬 yum 😋
I love that you talk to your pooch like he is a human! I do the same! People probably think I'm weird but I don't mind! I love my dogs!
Love today's video. Bubba is so caring and attentive. Good boy Bubba. Loved your garden harvest too. I can't wait to have my own home grown garden. Starting some seeds today's indoors. Thanks for sharing. God bless 💗🌻🙏💗🌻🙏
How have I never seen Bubba? How have I never heard about Bubba? Bubba is adorable!
You touch your plants with so much love and tenderness. It makes me smile to see how much you enjoy what you do. Keep up the great work.

Oh how cute baby chicks, and Bubba is protecting them, absolutely beautiful garden already...
Fred.

The turkey's comments are fun. That is a great hatch. We love seeing farm babies.
Really enjoyed viewing the chicks and green house.
The green house is absolutely wonderful and a lot of work but well worth the harvest for sure. Congratulations on your bountiful harvest! Thank you for sharing your beautiful baby chicks! God Bless you both and your beautiful family!

Let some of the cilantro go to seed and you get coriander. You can also dehydrate cilantro. Not as good as fresh. Maybe try infusing olive oil or vinegar (note: never tried these but in my head it makes sense lol).
Margaret Thompson I was coming to say that cilantro seed can be saved and ground as coriander 😁 That’s my plan for about half of mine this year.
We chop it up and freeze it.

Does anything beat the sound your shears make cutting thru fresh greens? Wonderful!! Bubba needs a pay raise for his babysitting services!!! BTW, watch out for those late season freezes where you are!!
Woohoo! We decided to add ducks to our micro-homestead this year. They are only 2 weeks old and SO big already!!
