I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with this engine, it’s currently at 250,000 miles and counting without any oil consumption issues, it’s been the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned, it’s never experienced any issues, it’s never even had a check engine light on before, just put gas in and go, I’m confident it’ll make it past 300,000 no sweat

This is amazing, I wish my 2.4 tigershark engine last at least 100K, my 2018 compass is only at 34K miles without any oil consumption issue, but I take care with 3000 miles oil change intervals with full synthetic.

Lucky. My 2014 Cherokee is a piece of shit. I hadn’t even put 30k miles on mine before it stated having transmission and electrical problems. Stalling for no reason, the column stocks becoming unresponsive for no reason and the wiper blades coming on, hard shifting and transmission slipping, some air vents won’t blow air but others will. And one day when the battery went bad the service transmission warning light and check engine light came on and my transmission sounded like an explosion and shook the whole car when I tried to put it in gear apparently the TCM is bad and many other problems.

I have 2019 promaster city with 108K miles, I already replaced the radiator a few months ago. Today code reader shows a P0302 misfire cylinder 2.
I know I shouldn't panic, it could be a spark plug or a bad coil but I read that I'll be extremely lucky to make it to 200K miles, that's a bit discouraging.
I'm contemplating on fixing it and selling it, overall it'll be a loss or maybe come out even

Change oil every 4-5k miles. Don't rely on the oil life monitor. That will get you in trouble. The tigershark uses oil for the vvt system for the intake valves. Clean full synthetic oil is a must. As the manual says check your oil level regularly. I would aim for atleast once per month. People going months or not at all checking oil level on any engine is asking for trouble. If you don't know how to check and add oil then learn. Its basic car maintenance. People having oil consumption issues need to get their dealer to do the pcm flash. That resolves the oil consumption in 95% of cases. The rest may have a bad engine due to running it low on oil too many times or a manufacturer defect. If the engine is shutting down don't keep trying to drive it figure out what is wrong. Many cases in the 2.4 its low oil. There are very few other issues with this engine other than maybe a thermostat here or there. Overall reliable and built simple. No GDI no turbo etc. Simple is better why everyone now wants a turbo I don't understand. I have had turbo vehicles before and do not want another one.

Hey guys. I have had my renegade for over 3 years. Couldn’t get FCA to do anything about it using over a quart between oil changes so I started putting in Lucas oil stabilizer. After putting in a quart for 1/2 quart for every oil change and using Lucas when it is a little low for the last two years, I have stopped it from using oil. (Almost non existent now). It may use a 1/4 every 3500 miles but not even enough to have to worry about putting oil in it every 509 miles like I used to. Try it. Worked for me. I think they should have replaced my engine bc it’s bull to have a basically brand new vehicle using oil. I’ve had 3 jeeps with over 300k miles and none of them used a drop of oil but this newer one. Good luck

Bought 2019 Jeep Compass . Burned oil a lot till about 20K or so. Had to add some thicker 10w-30 during those days. Then it stopped burning. Now at 40K+ or so it does not burn oil any more. Been changing oil every 5K or so. So far so good. Only major issue was the small aux battery from Chrysler died 2x. 3rd replacement battery was not Chrysler brand. Time will tell. But because of you all telling me about oil burning and my previous experience with oil burning, Im getting paranoid. Im checking oil every week.

I own a 2015 dart with a 2.4 multi air. Bought it new. 272k miles and still running. I've never done anything in the engine bay except plugs twice air filter twice and an oil change everything it suggests. I've hit 2 deer, a ladder on the interstate, a fallen tree top, armadillo, and a few road gators, aka tractor trailor tires. I've got a hitch on it and pulled a lawn mower, four-wheeler, golf car,t and stuff from the hardware store occasionally. I know I'm on borrowed time, but I'm hoping to make it to 300k.

2014 dodge dart limited with the tugershark. 184,822 miles currently, change oil every 10k miles (full synthetic high mileage). Usually down about 1-1.5 quarts after 10k miles. No major issues. Had to replace wheel bearings twice, oil pressure sensor, and do a software update for the Bluetooth. That's it, still running with no issues. Just before 200k gonna trade it in. Hard to believe I seemed tk get the 1 single tigershark with like no problems, or maybe people are just using the wrong oil or something. In past 150k miles I've had to top off coolant twice too.

My 2014 Dodge Dart SXT with the 2.4 Liter MultiAir Tigershark Engine has been extremely reliable for me indeed! My engine has never had an excessive oil consumtion issue like some of these 2.4 engines reportedly have displayed! There is an open recall on the majority of these engines for replacing what is known as a MANIVERTER. Manufacturer EMISSIONS RECALL: U90 2014-2016 2.4L IN-USE NOX - CATALYST EFFICIENCY Status Stellantis says "Remedy Available" I have been waiting as the dealer is waiting for replacement parts! Supply chain, present economy, etc. causing delays as I have been waiting for 4 months as of this comment listed here by me!

I have a 2021 RAM PROMASTER CITY with 20,000 miles on it. No oil consumption and no problems. My last service it appeared the mechanic did not change the oil filter and loosened the old filter such that it was leaking oil. I to have heard the engines are very reliable in the long term only sparkplug and transmission fluid change. I think the vans and engines are getting a bad rap due to the low quality of available service.

Change the Oil at 40% usage and change the oil filter at the same time. Use Full Synthetic Castrol High mileage oil. About a 1/2qt every 2200 miles. Change your own oil and let it drain for 30minutes.

Ive got a 2016 dodge dart with the 2.4. So far.. its been.. reliable, but very very underwhelming. It has very low power output, which seems to vary day to day. Its electronic systems are.. finicky to say the least, and i have had the reflash for the oil consumption. So far it is holding up. Im at 120K, however, fuel mileage is dropping. Where i used to get 28-32 normal driving, i now see 23-25. I have swaped a few parts.. like an exhaust and cold air intake. But from my understanding those should help, not hinder.

It's definitely a pain to work on, especially if you have the 4x4. In addition, to knowing that it failed to compete with Honda's K20 series. There is a bulletin that the reason it burns oil is there is a tuning issue with the ECU. If you bring your vehicle with the oil burning issue to any Dodge/Jeep dealership, they will reprogram it for you. If memory serves, it does have something to do with engine breaking and how it works with the PCV valve. I usually run an oil flush cleaner and an oil additive when doing engine oil changes, which keeps the engine healthy. Fiat definitely could have done a better job with this vehicle, but of course, they're more focused on their flagship vehicles. Nothing should be "sealed" when it comes to vehicle lubrication. I conduct my oil change intervals every 3,000 miles for engine oil, 30,000 for the PTU and transmission in addition to using oil additives for longevity.

I have a 2019 jeep compass with this engine. Last year the whole engine had to be replaced in March. This year, the new engine started failing again. Out of the blue I got a dashboard warning, and temperature skyrocketed. When I opened the water compartment it was full of emulsified, gooey oil...I am expecting an answer from the official part manufacturer...definitely not a good engine.

He’s right maybe it’s just since it was a work van and it was on the fleet that people didn’t maintain it nor checked the oil when they were supposed to because I work for AAA and at my location the had a few road masters from Ram with the same engine and it sucked ass it would suddenly loose power on the highway every light was on it left me a couple times on the side of the road then there’s my mothers 16 Cherokee she got hers with 26k miles and we did have to take it to the dealer once because it shut off while driving , turned back on but not a good sign nonetheless they said it needed oil it had no Oil but the car was still 2k miles away from the nxt oil change with them , they changed it for us and the tech told me that these new engines burned oil and instead of changing oil at 5k miles to change at 3 and to always be checking 2-4 times a month just to make sure , ever since then I’ve always kept up with her maintenance myself from the brakes to suspension even to it’s first tube up she’s now at 150k miles because she worked doing Uber smh but its all about who drives it how they drive it and how they maintain it tbh it sucks they suck a lil but aye most cars nowadays always tend to skip a beat every now and then
