  • Hey Good People,
I just happen to have two 2015 Chrysler 200 S in the shop at the same time. Both cars were giving their owners the blues lol. I wanted to give you guys my honest review an opinion about these vehicles incase you might be in the market to purchase one of these, or if you already own one, what to expect.
In the video there are two different engine sizes. I go over both of them and tell you guys my opinion on each of them.
I hope you enjoy the video.
    Your favorite Mechanic,
    Alex

If you guys are having a service airbag light .. look under front and back seat you'll see a yellow plug on both driver & passenger side.. squeeze them a lil to make sure plug is all the way in , a total of 4 yellow plugs.. the connectors gets loose over time
    .. thank me later 😊

I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 and it has 335,000 miles with the original engine and original transmission. I do Uber and Lyft and this car is great for that. I absolutely love my Burgundy Beast. I haven't had any issues that your talking about. I've had mine for almost 5 years. This is a great vehicle but just like any vehicle you have to take care of it or you will be replacing the engine at 96,000 miles.....LOL

Oh and also when this man says avoid quick lube places, take that to heart. A couple months ago I had a Journey under my wrench that had cheap conventional oil in it. All of the oil pathways were plugged and one of the lifters seized which wrecked the rocker. The bearing on the lifter was half gone and took most of the cam lobe with it. It was a great day for me, not so much for the customer. Cleaning metal shavings out of an engine, and changing a camshaft isn’t cheap. Don’t cheap out on oil. It’s going to cost you a couple months of rent payments in the future.

    • @MichaelDavis-cy4ok
      @MichaelDavis-cy4ok Рік тому +4

Years ago I used to change oil at a Toyota dealership. The oil drain plug on one vehicle was a female Torx drive plug. A buddy of mine was changing the oil and had to fight to get the drain plug out. Some idiot at a quick lube place had used an impact wrench to install the drain plug! It was stripped out, and when it finally came out, the drain plug broke in half.
Those places will hire any idiot off the street, give them almost no training, and just throw them at your car.

I work at the plant that makes the oil cooler. There are many problems with the build process. I have seen the aluminum "knock off" versions of these and they seem much better build quality and durability. However I did notice a slightly smaller opening for the water side of the cooler on the aluminum version.

Hi @Alex, The Car Doctor! Currently, I need a gas/fuel pressure sensor replacement on my 2015 Chrysler 200 baby. I love my car! I feel its very simple for any mechanic to work on. ALso, nobody will disagree when I say the sound system is nice even to be a factory system. Anyways, My question is how much would you charge me to replace this. I do not have time nor any of male family members. I'm just wondering how much this typically costs? I like to know my car issue before I go into the shop and be very knowledgeable. Thanks! I have a 2006 Chrysler van with 247,000 miles. The engine is cast iron 3.3L (Damion) the tranny works fine: I did change the fluid & filter. I do have electrical problems though: the headlights sometimes won't turn off and sometimes turn themselves on when I'm away. I have to constantly jiggle the switch. The instrument cluster blinks when it's the coldest winter; and I think it came from the factory with the engine light on. I also have a little water leaking on the passenger side in the cab (not the heater coil): I think it's from an A\C drain hose that's too short to drain properly. But I drive easy; and it's a very dependable comfortable vehicle. I probably won't buy another one though. Thanks for a great video!

Make sure oil is changed on time, transmission fluids changed at least every 50 thousand miles air filters changed at two oil change intervals. Pvc valve change at 60 thousand miles. I still have the original sprak plugs at 124000 miles currently.

I currently have a 2016 Chrysler 200 and everything you said in this video is very much true. I have been going through hell with this car. First, it was the ticking and burning smell. Then it was the jerking and stuttering. Oh and don’t let me forget the oil gasket leak and replacing the house it sit in. Now it’s replacing the motor. But that’s not even the sad in frustrating part. The sad and frustrating part is knowing something is wrong and the dealership keeps sending you away telling you everything is ok, when it’s obviously not. ( all because your still under warranty) Soooooooooo with all that being said THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU … for getting on here and being honest about what’s happening and what to expect. Much appreciated.❤

omg I got a 15 200 and ive recently had the burning smell too, mechanic said its the head gasket seal or sumthn like that, getting it fixed next week, hopefully that'll fix it and it won't be the oil cooler. but ive also had that trans problem the guy was talking about where it well randomly not let me shift out of park, tried to take it to mechanic but the two times ive tried the check engine light goes off. he also said to change the trans oil but I thought these trans were sealed where you couldn't

I bought the 6 cylindar in 2017. It was a retired rental car. It was kind of a vanity purchase. I didn't really need a 3rd car, but I thought it would be handy. I didn't have a huge budget for this purchase, and I was sick of boring Toyotas. I was excited about how much I was getting for $10,000 and particulary that it was a 6 cylindar.
I still love the car, and it's fun to drive. Within a few weeks I started getting a light for the passenger side airbag. I could reach under the seat and play with the wire harness and it would go out briefly. Asked about that and was told it's super expensive to fix. OK. Wouldn't think so, but I just left it as is. Main thing was this past winter I had to replace the intake and exhaust manifold. Car had 150,000 miles on it, very disproportionately highway miles. So that was disappointing. Still love the car though. It's like having a high maintainence girlfriend that brings great joy to your life.

I believe the problem with the oil cooler is that it sticks on the plastic threads, so when you try to loosen it it seems that someone over tightened it. This puts a lot of stress on the plastic and it starts to leak. This happened to my 3.6 and I'm the only person who's done oil changes on it.

I've had my 2016 200 Limited with the 4 cylinder since new and just turned over 150,000 miles last week. I've had no major problems with it and it's been a good car. Lately the transmission will shift harshly maybe once or twice a month but it's not getting any worse so I'm not worried about it yet. I work 35 miles away so I drive 70 plus miles every weekday and get 30 mpg nearly every tank. I'm totally a lay person, but for whatever my opinion is worth, I think Chrysler overreached by designing it with such a sophisticated transmission. Should have kept it simpler. I noticed the rough shifts right away. It can be minimzed by good driving habits. Took it to Aamco, and they told me there was nothing wrong with the tranny, that's just how it works. That was 5 years ago, and I haven't had to replace it.

Alex my name is Chris and can I just say that I’m looking for a video for a specific problem with my friends 2015 9 spd AWD V6 , even though it wasn’t something that you covered in this video , I just want to take a moment to say that for 1 you got a new subscriber while watching this video. 2 you have a excellent screen presence and personality, funny and not afraid to correct yourself if you’re saying something and then you’re like “ wait I think that might be wrong”! I think it’s great that you are just being you, unlike some other channels that edit their content so it’s perfect and they look and sound perfect. What a lot of techs forgot is that behind the editing, Timelapse”s and other things that are done they make it look so easy which isn’t the case EVER! So I just wanted to compliment you on your channel and for having a great lighthearted attitude when doing it. I always think it’s important to tell people on YT if they’re doing something good and you absolutely should be proud for how you’ve developed your own style of videos. I enjoyed watching your channel today, keep up the good work! Chris K 😊

Thank you for the informational video. I've been a Lexus technician since 1998, and with Nissan 5 years earlier. My youngest sister has the 200 Pentastar, and she's regularly having me check it out for her. In fact I'm stopping by her place after work because it stalled on her. She said she smelled a "chemical" type smell coming through the vents so she turned off the AC. Shortly after that all the warming lights lit up like a Christmas tree on the combination meter. My first thought was "Great, electrical problem". I had told her to buy a Honda or Toyota, exactly like you mentioned in the video, and then she gets this Chrysler! Ugh Hopefully it's just the alternator. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again. Appreciate the time you took to put this video together.

Ended up rising the alternator and serpentine belt (it smoked the belt before i could jump back in to turn it off). Charged the battery, and she's good to go. Sorry so late getting back. The second time it failed I hired someone to fix it, he broke that one while installing it or installed it wrong, I was told the shit was still leaking and that caused my engine to tick. 184k. I still have the car it runs and drives but it’s ticking. The oil cooler is now fixed correctly. I ended up getting another 200. This time AWD C with EVERY opinion ever offered on theses cars. Had a cam position sensor issue and lifter issue @ 42k on my 3.6 awd 200s. Babied this thing from 11k miles. Royal purple and wix xp filter every 3500 miles, premium fuel. Still failed.
Before that there was a severe transmission problem due to Tcm programming errors. Also the infotainment system had an error in this thing and wouldn’t come on for awhile sometimes so Chrysler told me to update it and that resulted in a bricked system, dealer told me 1500$, I sent it for repair for $400 after shipping. I love this car, it drives solid. Great power when you need it, 29mpg average for me. Comfortable, awd has been superb. Just has issues. The mechanic that replaced the engine told me it was a nightmare job, there is hardly any extra space in the engine bay. I love the way it drives though.

I have the 2015 Chrysler 200 C AWD 3.6 liter V6. I have had to change the radiator, radiator housing, cap and hoses ( about $1500+ due to overheating and the upper hose dislodging off causing it to overheat again ) and now it shows a flashing check engine light ( nervous on what it could be and the cost to fix it ) . Currently waiting for tow as I write this. I have about 152k miles on it. It’s a fast car, great gas mileage and has been reliable.

I’ve spent about close to $2k-4k in repairs ( new radiator , radiator cap hoses housing , water pump, gasket etc ) and it’s about 245k miles. I keep up with tje maintenance of the car and tend to the little things it needs. As of this moment, the check engine light is on, mechanic says there is a problem with the alternator ( since the battery light has come on a few times ) and it has problems with the cam shaft crank shaft area as well. I don’t drive the car out of town anymore. The car still runs and has great gas mileage.

I bought my "2015 Chrysler 200 Limited" in 2020 with only 49,000miles. Fortunately I bought it from a certified dealership because 5mo's later at only 52,000miles the "Tigershark" engine BLEW! Thank god the Chrysler Corp. was willing to work with me on an extended warranty & replaced that engine with a new Mopar engine. I have had EVERY problem with my car that it is known for, the latest being the drivers seat heater no longer turns on, & a possible electrical short somewhere has caused the seat module to stop working so I can no longer raise/lower the seat or move the seat closer/farther from the pedals! I was drawn to the looks & comfort when I purchased this car not to mention desperate for some wheels after 13yrs of riding a bus but, HAD I KNOWN THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW, I WOULD NEVER HAV GIVEN THIS CAR A 2nd LOOK!

Radiator cap was leaking pressure and ultimately caused gasket or head cracking.had no issues since. 160 k miles now.
