      Really? Don't you think you could have climbed up there and knocked down that tiny fire with an extinguisher? I'm serious. No heavy and dark smoke and pressure and the fire only got bigger after they vented it with no water available. They stunk as usual. The only way they will ever get better is if the turn real firefighting into a new game.

      @stucker1347 Рік тому +1

      @@JB91710 You truly have no idea how “tiny” that fire is. I agree it is a smaller fire at the time of arrival but I would say it still most likely required a hand line for extinguishment. Are you saying you would not have stretched a line? I see a lot of your comments on many videos, this is not a “transitional attack” type of fire on arrival

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 Рік тому

      @@stucker1347 If you can't see the fire from the exterior, you have to vent the fire room Windows, go inside and find it. The prime objective for any firefighter at any fire SHOULD be to find what is burning and turn off the flames to prevent extension and reduce heat and to protect victims and entering firefighters who are bringing in any other tools they need to mop up including additional hoses. In this case, all signs said this is a small fire so the easiest and fastest things to use are O2 or water bottle extinguishers to stop the fires spread and protect any victims. Bringing up any hose first would be way too time consuming and we saw what happened. How many ffers went up there with no firefighting tools? Where they positive there were no victims exposed to that fire? I doubt it.
      P.S. You have no idea how great it is to converse with a mature thinker who asked questions for clarification and to learn something. The vast majority of repliers sound like pimple faced juveniles.

      @@JB91710 Well thanks, I guess, but I’m not trying to learn tactics from you. Nothing personal, I just don’t take advise from people on the internet unless I know for a fact who I’m talking to. I was asking you whether you would have stretched a hand line on this fire? Because I would definitely be stretching a line here. I understand your point of knocking it with a can if you can. FDNY has a “can man” that I can almost guarantee was in the room before the line. My point is, even though it appears small from the exterior, it most likely required a can. If it needs more than 1 can, just stretch a line. You’ll probably need it to continue moping up checking for extension and hitting hot spots.

      @@JB91710 Turn up your hearing aid. The truck boss reported heavy clutter floor to ceiling. It’s possible the truck company couldn’t get to it. Eventually it got to them and the engine knocked it down. It’s always great when losers like you on the girls softball team critique the NY Yankees! What’s even greater is you never once fought a fire in a building like this.

    Impressive knockdown of the fire. Not sure I would use the aerial to vent the window. I have seen aerials damaged that way, and they are expensive to repair or replace. I was also surprised that they left the aerial in the window when the flames were shooting out. Not good for the aerial - can compromise its structural integrity. Excellent ladder work . That’s what we did in Harlem and the Bronx all the time. You want fire blowing out the windows so the engine can push the heat out.

      @@Jimmythefish577 Have you ever been inside a burning building? They had water to the apartment and they 'smashed' the windows out. What do you imagine happened from there? When the windows were 'smashed', smoke and heat exited the apartment. Allowing for somewhat better visibility in the apartment. The fire is now more visible to the engine company so they can put water on it. It was a crucial tactic to find the fire and put the fire out in the apartment. You clearly have no clue about ventilation operations in a fire building.

      Nearly all 6 story MD’s have rear fire escapes with a gooseneck ladder to roof. This would be the Roofmans secondary means of egress. Also a roof rope if things got really bad. They could do a single slide evolution off the roof.

      @@jhamil4622.... so what? Yeah New York is unique, it's an amazing city, but you think they'd know what theyre doing by now. But no their firefighters are amateurish at best. Compared to the rest of the developed world all US fire departments are amateurish too. I don't think they're taught the importance of water, and how it helps to get water on the fire as soon as possible. UK firefighters get water down within 30 seconds of arrival on most occasions. Show me a video on here where your scruffy 'swagger men' are doing that! I bet you can't. The way you do things over there beggars belief to those of us over here. I'm not the only one who thinks that: there are thousands of comments on here from seasoned European firefighters, so you're telling me they're all wrong? Not having it. Why don't put down your Stars an' Stripes, get off your high horse and think about it impartially. Yes us Brits get it wrong.... Grenfel Tower springs to mind.... but nearly every video on YT depicting US firefighters makes us Europeans look on agog. You have an engine crews who seem very reluctant to get the water flowing, and then ladder crews whose only role it seems is to completely destroy the property they've been sent to save. Give me the European model ANY DAY!
