Revolutionary New Fire & Smoke Simulation
Introducing a new realistic physics based fire simulation system powered by AI. This system allows for an ultra realistic fire and smoke simulation within EmergeNYC. Currently it is set up on all car fires, manhole fires, all new non structural fires and a small selection of building fires as I still have to convert each building fire to use this new system. Fire and smoke collides with walls, ceilings and more allowing for realistic simulation of smoke accumulation in a building and through rooms. I had to also redesign how you take smoke/fire damage. The new system uses a volume for each room in the fire and calculates smoke density and temperature as well as your proximity to the fire to calculate damage to the player. I made some improvements to the fire spread logic as well. Fires now only spread horizontal and up or just below them to other fire nodes but fire no longer drops down an entire floor. This system is still in the early testing stages to see how it performs across all hardware. More building fires will be added in the next updates.
New Procedural Emergency System
EmergeNYC now features a new procedural emergency system. This allows for virtually thousands of new calls across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Montgomery County meaning you won’t have to respond to the same calls each playthrough. The new system is able to place emergencies in hundreds of different possible locations. The new system also automatically detects the emergency and generates the emergency information, address, box number, assignment and sends out the tones to the assigned units all procedurally. This makes adding new emergencies to the game much easier and faster so look forward to more new call varieties in bulk in future updates.
Redesigned Car Fires
Random car fires can spawn on any road or parking spot on the side of the road. There are over 30 new vehicle fires with a dozen paint schemes for each vehicle. Cars can also spawn wrecked, flipped over, on their side and with or without victims inside. All vehicle fires now utilise the new fire system. You can open the doors, trunk, and hood of cars now by left clicking the door. Fire can hide in the trunk, hood, and inside the car. Car fires are more difficult now as they spread throughout the car and it takes longer to put out. There are new bus fires and garbage truck fires as well as a few other special vehicles.
Redesigned Manhole Fires
Manhole fires have been redesigned and can spawn on any of the hundreds of Manholes on the map instead of going to the same 4 or 5 manhole fires. Manhole fires now utilise this new fire system as well. Manholes will smoke and flare up and make realistic popping noises. Once a manhole fire reaches its max intensity, it will constantly shoot out fire and the next nearest manhole will explode and catch fire. This makes manhole fires more interactive and challenging. Manhole emergencies have been added to Montgomery County as well.
Other Non Structural Fires
Many other variations of rubbish fires have been added using the new fire system such as dumpster fires, trash/rubbish, scaffoldings, food stands, news stands and more.
Procedural EMS Calls
EMS calls are now also procedural. They can spawn anywhere on the street and injuries are completely randomised as well as the look of the patient. This means you can have thousands of unique EMS calls instead of the same ones every game.

Fixed AI walking into outrigger of truck causing it to move
Fixed Division 4 icon showing 5 in Manhattan
Fixed Ladder 57 getting stuck leaving quarters
Fixed Engine 85 getting stuck leaving quarters
Fixed AI Battalion 5 and Ambulances not responding in Manhattan
Fixed Squad 28 door not opening for AI
Fixed some units having brooklyn radio audio when ai acknowledges the run
Fixed Ladder tips pushing the truck off the building sometimes
Fixed pressing E causing AI to pick up or drop a hose sometimes
Fixed pressing the hosebed keys causing you to deploy a line if an ai is at the hosebed
Improved click area of roll up doors
Improved click area of climbing up and down portable ladders

Fixed hydrants not being networked
Fixed issues with Montgomery County hoses causing major frame drops in Multiplayer
Improvements to multiplayer nozzle spray sync
Fixed more units with light sync issues in Montgomery County
Fixed other players causing truck to move when climbing down ladder to turntable
You can now use the middle mouse camera toggle in multiplayer

What a great update was not expecting it
Good update but please keep updating the game. The fire looks odd at best and could use a little touch up but the smoke looks pretty cool. There are still so many game breaking bugs (Tools can't be returned to apparatus, screen blacking out and random crashes, medical system still not displaying right, vehicles and pedestrians still having strange behavior, FF AI still getting stuck for no reason, air tank not lasting more than 5 minutes even at a stand still, hoses flying around, outriggers making the truck bounce, simulated time progression too quick instead of being adjustable etc...) that would make the game even better. I really like your work and hope you keep this project moving forward!
not to even mention the weird ass playermodels that look like they got a torticollis with their stiffed shoulders, the UI design which is TERRIBLE looking, and the outdated models that shows the game's age... the game feels a lot like it's using a ton of placeholders, hardly allowing them to call this version the 0.9.8, like it's about to release. Hope they fix these things before releasing
love the update, love playing this game had it from the being. just got out of the vol..fire service last year this game is super fun, keep up the great work.

Still very buggy, i played the new update for 10 minute first call that went out was a building fire my air kept running out super fast like i had enough time to get in the door and that was it also had to jump up most of the front entrance stairs to even get into the building as they were to steep trying to enter the 2nd story i got stock in the door way could not make access to the 3rd floor building got smaller so i gave up also had to keep connecting and disconnecting the supply hose in order for water to keep filling to the truck. when i tryed to use the deck gun i was put under the map

Nice Update! I've had the game since it came out and also followed development before you could purchase the game. I've had my fair share of issues with the game and shocked to see that the game is still being updated but also happy to see it. I just hope you can bring on additional talent, even if it's just people wanting to work on the game to help improve it because I feel like that when updates come out there is always bugs that come with it or things that just feel unfinished. The whole game is clunky and feels old and I think bringing some people in could help the development. Still happy to see the updates though.
I understand what yall saying their are glitches but every game has glitches some are worse than others but this game is pretty good over all the truck models are the best I’ve seen the ai is a little weird but it’s a good game to hope on to for two hours and then play something else me and my friends have a blast thanks for making this game

Idk if your gonna respond to this but I got two question
1. Are you adding a more units like battalion 8, or rescue companies special units
2. Are you gonna add additional maps? Like Bronx or staten. Island

not sure if this would help to give suggestions but, can you make the new “war of the worlds” game your making, playable on apple devices? Such as a macOS (in which i am using). Id greatly appreciate it as my father wont be able to afford a windows pc neither a gaming one.
This is cool but unfortunately this game is a horrible experience. I jumped in the other day with a buddy to see how the game was progressing, and just experienced issue after issue and ended up uninstalling again shortly after. The menu's are a mess, the game can't decide what resolution it wants to run it, menu's open over the top of other menus. I really thing basic playability should be focused on before all these content updates. We didn't even make it to the stage where there was gonna be a fire to put out.
Idk what your issue is but so far I’ve had a great experience maybe give it a second try

Hey, flipswitch, if you ever decide to add more spare apparatus into the game, I have some recommendations for you
*Please note that all of the apparatus I'm recommending were in the FDNY*
Rescue 9: 1996 hme saulsbury which is what all the rescue companies had back in the day
Battalion 5: 2002 Ford excursion
Division 4: 2000 crown vic
Squad 28 second piece: 2002 gmc workhorse

Please make Manhattan playable, fix Montgomery trucks not syncing with sirens. Update trucks and make scenarios menus open and work, and overall pay more attention to MacBook players
I love emergenyc but I would like to see 4 inch supply line as a relay line option and I would like to see cpr for medical emergencies and Montgomery county needs the ai like New York does.

@@firefighterprodigy EmergeNYC came out in 2016. It's been about 7 1/2 years since the earliest builds released, a little bit closer to 7 by the time we started getting the city. Any 40 series card should be more than capable of running the game on max settings, assuming the other parts in the PC are of equivalent age and parity.
I suspect there is a huge slew of performance optimizations that could be made between models and the code that could significantly improve performance in the game.

how is it powered by AI?
Instead of having to code every detail on a call. You just give a pool of options to AI and the AI will generate a call.
For the other part you tell the AI how fire is supposed to spread in real life and it will do the heavy lifting of simulating the smoke and fire(which makes it different every time and realistic) rather than having to code the spread of fire and smoke.

Still low FPS for Multiplayer! C'mon Raf! We have been asking for better FPS since the inception!
Its really just up to the players and their systems, you can see in the video we were doing a game of 12 and had smooth steady frames.
This guy is an idiot, no matter what settings you use the game is not playable at all

The game is getting worse as time goes on. The fires are lame. Nothing like it used to be. Very little challenge. Love the buildings that have no interior but a fire is in going in an empty shell. Too many water leaks, gas leaks, manhole fires, dumpster fires and false alarms. Almost never get a good working fire anymore.
Game still plays like shit poorly optimized buggy gameplay and horrible controls
