Crazy how Lazar hadn't had any points thusfar in his Devils tenure on the 4th line, now broke out for a goal in each of his last 2 games. Good stuff and a aolid, good win by the Devils. And man the Blackhawks goalie was tested with a boatload of shots and stayed up strong throughout most of this game

06:34 Bedard still is a youngster, lot to learn. You can't do that on NHL. Blind pass to center in offensive zone will lead to bad turnover and this time half-breakaway and eventually a goal.

Hawks playing a back to back but showed a lot of energy. That give away at the blue line was the difference. Soder played well considering he faced 39 shots. But he needed to stop that breakaway. Hawks let the Devils go to the net too often and too easily. They need some defensemen who can push bodies out.

I noticed it as well. He has to think defense first and not counter attack. Because if the other team scores there is no counter attack. It's a minus. He will learn over time. Or with the head coach putting his face in it a few times. The double edged sword for a creative artist/ sniper like him is that if the play doesn't work out , the pick goes back the other way In a hurry.

How many years will the rebuild take in Chicago Blackhawks? Will they miss playoffs again?
I hope they miss the playoffs this year, they need another top 3 pick. I say Hawks are Cup contenders in...4 years.
3 year MINIMUM
Success has ruined the blackhawks fandom. You need minimum top 5 Defenseman, top 5 center, at least a few top 100 skaters in forward and d and a good/great goalie to be contenders.
Blackhawks have only a future number 1 center and maybe a few top 4 defenseman. Remember, prospects are prospects until they prove it in the NHL.
It will probably take another 3 years to make the playoffs and 5-6 until you guys are contenders.
They do not have the core defenseman right now. If they can do that they can advance. You cannot win in the NHL consistently giving up 40 shots a game.

Why does bedard look so slow? Seems like he’s skating at half the speed of everyone else
He seems like a playmaker and a shooter, i.e. not gritty or fast or physical. His hockey iq is fun to watch, but he needs teammates to support him.
He is only 18 years old. He is not even close to done developing physically or mentally, which makes his skill all the more impressive.
He did take a shot to the ankle the other day against FL and went down, but ya generally he's not super speed.

Where is this hocky IQ you're talking about? He's always out of position on both ends of the ice hunting for easy setups right in the slot or breakaway opportunities if the other team fumbles the puck at the blue line. And he's constantly just winging passes on a wing and a prayer and giving the puck away for odd man breaks, and then not hustling back after he does it. I don't think you understand what hockey IQ is if you think that's it.
Bedard doesn’t belong in the NHL until he of course gets older, learns to skate faster, get tougher and not act like a brat by breaking his soft stick on the net on the empty net shot.

If Chicago were a better team Bedard would get that development time. But he is better than most of what they have. So play. Bobby Orr joined a horrific Boston Bruin team when he was 18 way back when. And it paid dividends.

To be fair to Chicago, Vitek played his best game since maybe January, and the devils are super deep. Though its kinda funny that the goals came from a guy with 0 points all year, a dude that's only there to hit people, and an AHL call-up.
Hughes plays a ton of minutes. Someone else finally had a chance to be The Guy.

You're kidding right? Blackhawks are like literally the worst team in the NHL. They're bottom feeders and will be for years to come until they get a decent roster put together. They stood a ghost of a chance against the devils.
