I've been a Red Wings fan since before Stevie Y came onboard at 18 years old and almostly became Captain. He's been that ever since. He was always great, he was never a problem at all. Back then the league had Gretzky, Lemieux and then Yzerman. In that order of talent level IMO. He could score you 50+ or be a great two way Center. Scotty Bowman (9x Stanley Cup winner) told him that he had to be the great two-way Center to really put Detroin over the top, The rest is history. Fans can be fickle be but as far as he's concerned I don't recall anything but adoration for him, that is still very much there today. Devil fans were yelling "fire Lindy!" after two games last year, before they ran off 13 wins in a row. That was embarrassing to their fan base - big time. That's a fickle fan base if ever there was one. Be glad Ranger weren't ever part of anything like that.🤯 Stevie is, as you probably know, the Pres/GM in Detroit and so far he's working his magic like he did in Tampa. The Florida game was very winnable and yesterday we beat Boston. I'm happy with the "Yzerplan" so far. Detroit is a year or two away from being an elite team again. Tomorrow we play your Rangers. It should be a good game I think. Good Luck! @94cupchamps 😄
@94champs Team success, maybe. He was a huge offensive threat early in his career and even to this day, his 155-point season has only been matched/beaten by Gretzky and Lemieux (and he had 137 and 127-point seasons). And then he had the most iconic goal in franchise history in '96, and was hugely successful as a 2-way forward and in terms of team success for the last decade-plus of his career. I think Howe and Lidstrom were better Wings, but the argument between Lidstrom and Yzerman is VERY close.
This is possibly the most ridiculous thing said on the internet today. If Gordie Howe had the training, support and equipment today's players had he would dominate today as he did when he played. @@TheGeishakuula
@@scottwarnez1404 or maybe he would just be average. If you just compare hockey today to 20 years ago, 40 years ago, and maybe to those times Montreal dominated... Even the "Great One" wouldn't be that great. Go see highlights, compare those goalies to 2020 and come cry again here
Speculate all you want about what Gordie would have done in modern hockey, but Nick and Stevie actually DID it against a level of competition that necessitates the wearing of helmets. As a Wings diehard for 5 decades I rank Nick and Stevie higher than our beloved Gordie, and it’s not close
You can only rank a player for how they did in their own era You can only speculate how someone would’ve done in a different era, although some would be great in an era Howe is not only the best Red Wing, but top 3 overall

The selection of Nick Lidstrom for the Detroit Red Wings was a bit of a surprise as he is not the first player most people would think of. HOWEVER, when looking at his consistency night after night, durability, playoff minutes per game, and his mind for the game, it's no wonder he was the one player who became the franchise's rock solid platform for success. I had said to myself it was going to be a sad day in Detroit when Nick retired. Sure enough, once he and Nick Kronwall retired, we Red Wings fans had it rough.
What most people would do or say or think... well, most people are sheep. Lidstrom was great. Comparing players from different eras is impossible. I saw Nick's whole career and he could do anything you'd want from a defenseman in the European style of hockey. He wasn't a fighter, not saying he wasn't able to be rough. As a forward Yzerman was a great 200 foot player that sacrificed his own scoring totals to be what Scotty needed from him to makes the Wings a Stanley Cup Championship team. What's next? Scotty Bowman wasn't the best coach of all time?
For the Hurricanes, Ron Francis was by far the best player for the franchise, when they were the Hartford Whalers. Check out Francis' stats. Huge. Howe for Detroit, no brainer (I thought).
I think this guy doesn't know the difference between a MOVE and a FOLD. He rates as the best Shane Doan Dale Jets 1.0/Coyotes player of all time, while rating Howerchuk the best Jets 2.0/Thrashers player of all time, even though Dale Howerchuk NEVER EVEN PLAYED FOR THEM. He played for the original Winnipeg jets that MOVED to Phoenix, and was retired by the time the Atlanta Thrashers/Jets 2.0 where in the league. Meaning he literally named 2 DIFFERENT players as THE best of all time for the SAME team, or named a player as GOAT for a team he never played for and couldn't have played for as the team did not exist when he was in the league. So of course this guy's going to totally disregard ALL Hartford Whalers players, because in his mind, that team does not exist and has nothing to do with the Carolina Hurricanes even though they're officially recognized as THE SAME FRANCHISE, just with a move and rename.
Gordie Howe was the best Red Wing and still is. 4 Stanley Cups, a 26 season career and waw so good he inspired the Great One. Also Alfredsson was the best Senators player. Played 17 seasons with them and has 1,157 points and he carried the team long before Karlsson got there
inspiring an all time great does not make someone one of the best ever, I was inspired by my friend Steve as an all time great metal worker, doesnt make it so.
First of all, I'd put Yzerman before Lidstrom. Secondly and more importantly, Wayne Gretzky wore #99 because Howe wore #9. Howe is called Mr. Hockey for crying out loud. Also, should probably have specified that a player will only be picked once in the list. Because, y'know, LA, St. Louis, NYR ...

Yzerman wore #19 in honour of Trottier, and Burnaby Joe chose it because of Stevie Wonder.
Yep I'm a Devils fan and got offended by that too... Hextall was the first to score in both playoffs and season and then Brodeur matched this and ended up the goal leader with 3 total goals near the end of his career!
No question Pavel Bure was the greatest Canuck of all time. He led them to the final in 1994 and amazing goal scoring and one of the most exciting players not only in Canuck history but in league history. His career was hurt by knee injuries or he could have done so much more.
@@ColonizerChan much less impressive. there wasnt enough hockey talent to field more teams. the overall talent levels have skyrocketed since then. players now are simply incomparably better.

@@chrisgcc4059 Not so fast. Their equipment is much better that is for sure not sure about the players themselves. Like Bob Pulford said when asked if Gretzky would make the roster of the cup winning Leafs teams of the 1960's he states he would be the fourth line center.
I’m sorry, but it’s already bad enough when you say Lidstrom is above Howe, but to say he is CLEARLY the best is insane. Nick Lidstrom was amazing, and is at the minimum top 3 Red Wing all time, but his battle is with Yzerman for #2 because Gordie Howe is that guy and probably always will be.
Also very underrated are Terry Sawchuk, Ted Lindsay and Red Kelly. Gordie Howe himself said, that terrible Ted led the team with his fiery personality.
I'm a longtime Red Wings fan, and while I was a little bit surprised Howe wasn't named the best player of all time for the Wings....I ain't gonna take too much issue with anyone saying Lidstrom. Oddly enough my favorite Sakic moment only indirectly involves Joe Sakic. Sean Avery was playing for the Wings and got up to chirp Joe Sakic. Brett Hull sat him back down and told him "You don't get to talk to Mr. Sakic."

This is “recent” bias regarding the Red Wings. While Nick Lidstrom maybe the greatest defenseman who ever played, Gordie Howe was the greatest Red Wing who ever played. Not only was he a great goal scorer in an era when goal scoring was down, he was an extremely tough, intimidating and effective two way player. Nobody dared messed with him. The few who did regretted it deeply. The late Lou Fontinato ( RIP), could attest to the extraordinary strength that Gordie possesed, after a tussle with him in 1959. Gordie did not look for fights, but he did make those who took cheap shots at his teammates pay the price. He also was a great skater and passer. His long loping strides made him look much slower than he actually was. Anyone that played against him will agree with that. He also possesed one of the hardest wrist shots in the game. This is a tough call for me, as I am at the age where saw much more of Nick than I did of Gordie. But you missed this one guys. P. S. Gordie played on Stanley cup winners in 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955. He played on runner ups 4 times in the 60’s.

Really thought Bure would of put in the Canucks spot so Jagr could be put in Panthers spot. Also really shocked not to see Scott Niedermayer on this list for either NJ or Anaheim.
Niedermayer is not the best or most iconic player for either the Ducks or Devils. Anaheim is clearly Teemu Selanne. Paul Kariya would easily be second. New Jersey is clearly Martin Brodeur. Second would likely be Scott Stevens or Ken Daneyko.
A lot of people consider Gordie Howe the greatest player of all time. Even Wayne Gretzky considers Howe the greatest of all time. But according to this video, Howe wasn’t even the best player on his own team. Classic
Tough choice for some teams. I can pick like half a dozen guys from the Bruins that you could argue one way or another. Esposito, Orr, Bourque, Bergeron, Neely, etc.
I’m a lifelong Wings fan. I grew in the 2000s, when the Wings were the best franchise in the league. I was 5 years old when I got into hockey, so #5 became my favorite player for that reason. I started watching, giving it a chance, but still wondering how many flaws there would be; it took until the 2nd player, haha: Winnipeg / Arizona, and you don't pick Dale Hawerchuck? Shameless... But let's continue! Buffalo ... (here's an argument that could come up with several of your picks - where does 'longevity' factor into the equation?) Hasek was phenomenal, but for a pretty short time period. My pick would be Perrault, who I realize you gave love to, but, considering longevity, he has to be the man. Honorable mentions: Pat Lafontaine - pure skill?: Alexander Mogilny! Calgary? That's a tough one. I'll accept your choice, but, Al MacInnis played there... not to mention all the other players you mentioned, AND more... Okay, though. Chicago is a close one too... I'll accept Makita BASED on longevity (but, wait, that DIDN'T count for Perrault in Buffalo? See...??), but, Bobby Hull? Had he not bolted to The WHA, where he scored ANOTHER 5,000 points!, he could still be considered the best. And what about Denis Savard? PURE SKILL WISE, he was arguably the best Hawk ever. But Hull may have been the most feared (skill wise) player of his generation (the 1960's) Colorado: I instinctively knew it was going to be Sakic, but, if you're talking "franchise" (and you even mentioned Sakic played his entire career for one franchise, and started in Quebec - so, are these FRANCHISE players, ALL TIME, or not?) then the answer is Peter Stastny, period. (And that's not taking ANYTHING away from Sakic, who was one of the greatest players in league history!) Detroit: Can't even bother to respond to that pick... ugh. Seriously? A little history lesson needed here. Florida: Longevity? Again, all over the place here... You argue for some players DUE to their longevity (like Lidstrom) and then take a guy that PURE SKILL WISE, yes, was the "best" player to ever play for the team (and he'll be mentioned TWICE, I assume, as he would even more so take that honor home for The Vancouver Canucks!)... But, come on; for a generally terrible franchise, Luongo has to be the winner here, balancing longevity and skill. Montreal ... ????? Okay, I mean, it's really a "pick 'em" situation here... So many possibilities. I can't say Beliveau is wrong, but... I wouldn't pick him. Maybe I'd argue for Ken Dryden. Rangers? No... NO... NO NO NO NO NO! Oh, my... NO! SOOO many other players; hard to say which one of them (all the 'original six' are difficult, of course). But anyway... On it could go... but finally, the Winnipeg franchise is Atlanta, where Kovalchuck would be the best player ever... NOT The Jets of Hawerchuck, who are Arizona now. Cheers... Glad you picked Dionne over Gretzky for LA, anyway! 🥰
No. Beliveau is simply on another level. He is the correct choice. Maurice Richard may be the heart of the Habs. Beleiveau will always be not just their soul, but the epitome of the Canadiens player as well as their role model. If you could make the perfect Canadien, it would be Joseph Jean Arthur Beliveau.
We say that the only reason that Montreal has so many Cups is because of the territorial draft rules. One may notice that once those were abolished, and those players largely started to retire, the Canadiens won 2 Cups, and none in the last 30 years.
Maurice Richard est un symbole Québécois car il était un simple mortel qui travaillait dans des usines en même temps d'être un joueur de hockey professionnel.

I think you dropped the ball, or maybe dropped the puck, with that Lidstrom call. I'm a die hard Bruins fan that doesn't focus on much else, but even I can tell you Gordie Howe should unquestionably occupy that spot.
@94cupchamps And God's honest truth if I were to make a "have to explain it" call (mostly just a pot stirring off the board call), I'd pick Fedorov over Lidstrom since you can go into his flexibility between defensive and offensive roles, his Hart and Selke win in the same year, and his sheer dynamism. But yeah, for the Wings, it's got to be Gordie.

LMAO what!? So many issues with this list including wrong numbers but as a Wild fan I'll comment on that. Gaborik?! Koivu has hundreds more points than Gaborik and is the only player to have his jersey retired by the team as they recognize he was the best player in franchise history. Interestingly the best though, is Kirill Kaprizov and thats not modern day bias. His point rate out paces any other player by a significant amount. Also, Gaborik didnt even play half his career with the team. By that logic Gretzky should be on the top of all 4 teams he played for
yes Mikko Koivu is Minnesota legend but he wasn't better than Gaborik😀. Gaborik played only couple seasons in Minnesota. if he played whole his carrer there stats would look different.
@@lukass4759 that makes no sense unless you put Gretzky, Orr, Jagr ect as the top for all the teams they played for. Also, gaborik is only like 100 career points in front of Koivu so it's not like they weren't comparable, the difference is Koivu was the face of the Wild for 7 years longer and had more impact for the team. Again though, Kaprizov will pass both of them pretty easily.
I would have put Lafleur before Beliveau for Montréal and Howe before Lidstrom for Detroit, but Lidstrom was phenomal. He deserve to be in the conversation
First off no chapter for the AVs... rude lol. Gotta say though I would've picked Roy over Sakic. Don't get me wrong Sakic was and is still amazing. His contributions to the team and the city of Denver are amazing. But were talking about the greatest player on our team. Patrick Roy literally redefined how the position is played. Basically every goalie today has modeled their game after him. If you google greatest goalie of all time his name comes up. Hell you could argue Roy should be listed for the Canadiens too lol
I remember seeing Sweden play Canada and Joe Sakic singelhanded won it for Canada he just scored for fun it seemed (i think he got like 4 in a 7-4 win).
I get wanting to give a nod to other great players other than the top one, but the idea that anyone else in Caps history comes close to it not being Ovechkin is crazy. I'd also have Nick Backstrom solidly the 2nd best player in team history, as well.
Personally, I would rank Mark Messier high on this list somewhere. He won the most Stanley Cups with 2 separate teams. If he did not do it himself, he had others do it. I would put him high on any fantasy team that I would create.

I put Clark ahead of Sundin. The Leafs never got as close to a Cup as they did with Clark, he bled for the Leafs and all Sundin did was pad his stats. Had the Leafs not traded Clark in 94, kept Potvin and made some of the changes they did, they would have won a Cup.

@hg GOAT at what? He sure wasn't the best goalie. Hasek has the best numbers by far of any goalie. Playoff wins is the least indicative stat of them all in trying to determine who was the best goalie. Hasek had 6 Vezinas and 2 Harts. Roy has 3 Vezinas and zero Harts. These are the awards that matter in judging a goalie. Sorry you lose! Brodeur had 4 Vezinas and zero Harts, Sorry but you lose again. Looks like Roy was the 3rd best goalie. I buy Joe Sakic (Colorado) cause he was great, but Peter Forsberg was the best player ever when he was healthy (my opinion). They took the wins for Colorado together.

@patrickgaudette.Born in Montreal in 1943.The Rocket is my favourite player all time. The Edmonton Oilers, led by Gretzky,in the 1980s,after a period of Soviet dominance, restored Canadian preeminence with their dazzling speed and skill.(Mario Lemieux also pitched in.)So Gretzky didn’t fight.Neither did Mike Bossy. Some guys skill is so great, who cares if they didn’t fight?
Gordie Howe is rolling in his grave. Wow!
Most of these 32 teams can't match a player as good as Stevie Y, let alone Mr Hockey.
@94champs I don’t know what you’re trying to prove with your comment.
Only 40+ years old player to score 40+ goals in a season.
Gordie Howe is called Mr. Hockey for a reason
And Yzerman, in turn, "The Captain".
I would pick Lindstrom over Yzerman.
"Niklas Lidstrom was clearly the best Red Wings player ever ... " NO hockey expert would put Lidstrom ahead of Gordie Howe.
If Gordie Howe played at the same time, he'd never be legend. He just happened to play at the right time
This is possibly the most ridiculous thing said on the internet today. If Gordie Howe had the training, support and equipment today's players had he would dominate today as he did when he played. @@TheGeishakuula

You can only speculate how someone would’ve done in a different era, although some would be great in an era

Absolutely underrated legend.
I was at Brodeur's first game and my family had season tickets for the Devils since day one until 2004. Saw him win the cup 2x.
Mike Bossy’s 9 consecutive 50 goal seasons is an NHL record
Gretzky and Ovechkin also had 9 50 goal seasons, but not consecutively

How can you not pick Mr. Hockey for Detroit ?
Because Nick Lidstrom was better.
You Must be a Gen Z'r
The selection of Nick Lidstrom for the Detroit Red Wings was a bit of a surprise as he is not the first player most people would think of. HOWEVER, when looking at his consistency night after night, durability, playoff minutes per game, and his mind for the game, it's no wonder he was the one player who became the franchise's rock solid platform for success. I had said to myself it was going to be a sad day in Detroit when Nick retired. Sure enough, once he and Nick Kronwall retired, we Red Wings fans had it rough.
Both Wayne Gretzky _and_ Bobby Orr would tell you that Gordie Howe is the best NHL player ever.
It should be Howe.
And it's not even close.@@tml184
Yeah, Gordie is Mr. Hockey. No-brainer IMO
Agreed.
Ron Francis not being on this list is criminal. Almost double the points as Eric Staal, and still mostly played in the “modern” NHL.
Absolutely!
Also, Rod Brind 'Amour. Can tell this presenter, who did a good job with MOST of this list, is a youngster,.
yup 1000% Francis all the way
I think this guy doesn't know the difference between a MOVE and a FOLD.
I like how like half of the H Sedin clips were of his brother Daniel 🤣

Also Alfie played almost his entire career there, nearly twice as many games as a Sen than Karlsson.
Karlsson was the most skilled, but any Sens fan will tell you Alfie was the best Sen to date. Cheers

I'd put Federov over Lidstrom too, but definitely Yzerman all day.

Not picking Gordie Howe as the greatest Red Wing is the reason why millenials shouldn't make lists.
As a gen z, i like this comment. Even WE know the answer is freaking Gordie Howe.
Lidstrom was great. The argument is never Gretzky or Lidstrom, it's Gretzky or Howe is the best ever
I'm a longtime Red Wings fan, and while I was a little bit surprised Howe wasn't named the best player of all time for the Wings....I ain't gonna take too much issue with anyone saying Lidstrom. Heck, I wouldn't even have too much of a beef with anyone saying it's Yzerman, either.

But Hull may have been the most feared (skill wise) player of his generation (the 1960's)
Colorado: I instinctively knew it was going to be Sakic, but, if you're talking "franchise" (and you even mentioned Sakic played his entire career for one franchise, and started in Quebec - so, are these FRANCHISE players, ALL TIME, or not?) then the answer is Peter Stastny, period. (And that's not taking ANYTHING away from Sakic, who was one of the greatest players in league history!)
Detroit: Can't even bother to respond to that pick... ugh.
Alfredsson was 3 wins away from a well deserved Conn Smythe. He simply did more than Karlsson for the Sens.
Hawerchuk was never a member of the Jets you are referring to.
Ha! I have his rookie sweater. You speak the truth. He was retired before the second Atlanta franchise came into existance.
We know they are two separate franchises, but in terms of Winnipeg, there is no newer player that can touch Hawerchuk.
Glad goaltenders were included in this list
It must be Maurice Richard for MTL. Even today montrealers consider him the greatest and most important player in NHL history
What do people outside of Montreal say?
We say that the only reason that Montreal has so many Cups is because of the territorial draft rules. One may notice that once those were abolished, and those players largely started to retire, the Canadiens won 2 Cups, and none in the last 30 years.

And I would have "The Captain" ahead of Lidstrom, and Federov may actually have been just slightly better.
I’m laughing. Each clip you showed of Henrik Sedin was of his brother, Daniel Sedin. Henrik was number 33, and Daniel was 22.
By that logic Gretzky should be on the top of all 4 teams he played for
Let's not forget that he has Hawerchuk as the greatest player of a franchise that he never played for.
@@dannycarlow8204Lmao missed that.
yes Mikko Koivu is Minnesota legend but he wasn't better than Gaborik😀.
Yes, Koivu may may have more thank Gaborik 5:40
I would have put Lafleur before Beliveau for Montréal and Howe before Lidstrom for Detroit, but Lidstrom was phenomal. He deserve to be in the conversation
mr. howe and mr. yzerman would like a word with you. also, nick lidstrom's surname doesn't have an n in it.
Like many, I expected Howe on the Red Wings list...but the argument for Lidstrom is quite strong, too. Ditto for Maurice Richard vs Jean Beliveau.
Lidström was a stud, no question, but I have Yzerman and Howe ahead of him...
MR. HOCKEY would have been the right choise...
Yeah yzerman is definitely better and Terry sawchuk
First off no chapter for the AVs... rude lol. Gotta say though I would've picked Roy over Sakic. Don't get me wrong Sakic was and is still amazing. His contributions to the team and the city of Denver are amazing.
But were talking about the greatest player on our team. Patrick Roy literally redefined how the position is played. Basically every goalie today has modeled their game after him. If you google greatest goalie of all time his name comes up.
Hell you could argue Roy should be listed for the Canadiens too lol
Babcock screwed Modano out of his 1,500th game.
I remember seeing Sweden play Canada and Joe Sakic singelhanded won it for Canada he just scored for fun it seemed (i think he got like 4 in a 7-4 win).
All these hall of fame legends and Jared McCann lol
I get wanting to give a nod to other great players other than the top one, but the idea that anyone else in Caps history comes close to it not being Ovechkin is crazy. I'd also have Nick Backstrom solidly the 2nd best player in team history, as well.
I'd have to put Mats Sundin, Salming and Sittler, ALL ahead of Keon...
Really I am a Leaf fan and I would ask you how many cups did Sundin, Salming or Sittler win for the Leafs.
Salming is the best
Personally, I would rank Mark Messier high on this list somewhere. He won the most Stanley Cups with 2 separate teams. If he did not do it himself, he had others do it. I would put him high on any fantasy team that I would create.
Well, got 2 right, Gretzky & Lemieux.
Ovechkin correct
What changes are you making?
Loved Marty Brodeur. Favorite goalie all time. I will say i think Scott Stevens could make a case as well as the best New Jersey Devil but im not going to to argue with Marty.
Huh? Gordie Howe gets passed over?
1) Gordie robbed.
2) Pekka Rinne is too good
Canes should be Ron Francis
Blue Jackets Bobrovsky
Also Hawerchuk should count for Coyotes, not Jets
Rubbish!!! Yes, the franchise has changed but are you going to tell the Winnipeg fans that he played in Arizona??? Hawerchuk will always be a Jet!!!!!
Nice job
😂this is a terrible list.
Lidstrom??? Have you ever heard of Gordie Howe????
Or "The Captain", or Fedorov?
I wholly agree with lidstrom
I feel like longevity for one particular team factored in too strongly in this list....Howe, Messier, Kurri, Roy...the list goes on forever.
Leech over Messier is a HOT take
I often called a prime Messier the most complete payer active
When it comes to all time rangers, I’d put Leetch above Messier as the bulk of Messier’s career was spent outside of NY.
I think Lundqvist is a good candidate as well
You are wrong about Brodeur, Hextall has recorded 2 goals.
Marc Andre Fleury for the Golden Knight after how they did him dirty?
Also where Gordie Howe?
This has to be a troll list
Lidstrom over Howe? Insane.
I'm not a Red Wings fan. But Lidstrom is no higher than 3rd best all time. How can anyone not say Gordie Howe is the best? Followed by Yzerman.
Lidstrom is above Yzerman. Especially when you consider one of the best defenseman of all time. Literally the perfect defenseman.
Then Fedorov.
Fedorov would have been my vote, simply for his flexibility @
Sergei was amazing, but, Mr Hockey, and The Captain, were better.@@Stukov81-TTV
Igor Larionov is the best player to ever wear the Wings jersey.
“Lidstrom was the greatest Red Wing”

As a Leafs fan, I love the Keon pick, but I think Sundin is the best Leaf. He holds every franchise record for scoring. I agree, Toronto is tough as well as Montreal. I agreed with the Beliveaue pick. Roy is second of course. You did say Perreault "Parrot" it's pronounced pier-o! Just saying as a dumb American myself blessed to live on the north side of Lake Ontario and having grown up watching Canadian TV both English and French speaking channels
The Rocket had an even greater influence on Le Blue Blanc et Rouge, than Big Jean or Saint Patrick.
The Leafs were handily the toughest call. Cases could easily have been made for Lionel Conacher, Red Horner, Turk Broda, Teeder Kennedy, Johnny Bower, Tim Horton, Alan Stanley, George Armstrong as well as Keon
Sundin was a great player but never won the cup for Toronto. Keon was part of four cup winning Leaf teams. Hard to top that.
Both Mats and Felix were incredible during their brief stints in Van.!@@geographyinaction7814
I believe honorable mention should go to Bryan Trottier., the proud owner of Stanley Cups, 4 of them as a member of The New York Islanders, 2 more as a member of the Pittsburgh 🐧, and 1 more as an Assistant Coach of The Colorado Avalanche. He also won The Calder Trophy, The Ross Trophy, The Hart Trophy, The Conn Smythe Trophy, The Frank Selke Trophy, and The King Clancy, and He's also a member of THE NHL HALL OF FAME, and he's The most decorated Indigenous
athletes of ALL TIME.
Also, fot this alone you could've made this a three way tie between BOSS, TROTS, AND DENIS POTVIN.
the winnipeg jets team he used isnt the right jets team....the old jets moved to arizona so he did the coyotes twice essentially but didnt include the thrashers/jets at all
If we restrict ourselves to past Thrashers/current Jets I would say Laine is probably tops. Maybe Wheeler, or Kovalchuk or Hossa
Atlanta is in Georgia
@Staszu13 I always will vote Kovalchuk. I know Laine probably is overall better but I grew up with Kovalchuk and he was I believe their first pick so I'm biased
@alainbellemare2168 yes it is congrats on knowing that!
100% agree with Nick Lidstrom.
pretty sure it's sacrilegious not to pick gordie howe lol
He's only good enough to be in the top 4 greatest in league history, not #1 for the team he played for.
@@dannycarlow8204 silly me lol
- Arizona should be Tkachuk or Hawerchuk. They get old Winnipeg's history.
- Jets should be Wheeler or Kovalchuk since theyre the Thrashers
- Detroit should be Howe. I love Lidstrom but c'mon, Howe is literally the 3rd best player of all time.
- Tampa should be Vasilevsky or Kucherov
Rest are hard to argue
By the numbers Hasek was the best Goalie.
…which numbers? Genuinely curious. Maybe Venzinas and Harts…but not Cups, Conn Smythes, etc. nor wins.
What about Patrick Roy?
Everything within his control - yeah, of course Vezinas and Harts. EVERYTHYING else was beyond his control. Even the analytics all go his way. He's not my favorite goalie but there is no arguing with the numbers. Ozgood had 400 wins. Is he a HOF goalie? Is he the best ever? Where does Ozzie fit in all of this? You tell me. Feel free to believe something different about the Dominator, I just don't see it. There was a playoff game with the Devils back '90 or '91 that went (2 or 3) (15 minute) overtimes, ending up 1-0 Buffalo. Probably the game I ever saw. It must be here on UA-cam
Roy is the goat. Only players with 3 Conn Smythe. Most wins in playoffs.
BTW, the best goalie in the league gets the Vezina and the League MVP gets the Hart trophy.
I buy Joe Sakic (Colorado) cause he was great, but Peter Forsberg was the best player ever when he was healthy (my opinion). They took the wins for Colorado together.
My swedish ears hurts. it's LiDström not Lindström. How hard can it be?
Honestly for the coyotes in my opinion the best player is datsuyuk, because of his sheer skill and creativity on a bunch of goals he scored.
Jeremy Roenick???
