The BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Porsche Cayenne are three of the most sought after midsize luxury SUVs and have long been regarded as being among the very best in the segment. All three cars have recently received mid-cycle refreshes for the 2024 model year, and they remain as popular and advanced as ever, even in the face of compelling full-EV alternatives such as the BMW iX and Mercedes EQS SUV. So which of these three German legends is the best choice? Join me as I go through an in-depth comparison to give you the answer. Today, we will be comparing the volume selling BMW X5 xDrive40i, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4Matic, and the base Porsche Cayenne with the V6 engine.

I pick Porsche
Good assessment. The BMW and Porsche are very closely matched.
After test driving every other interesting luxury SUV, it came down to the Cayenne and X5 far above the rest of the competition.
For me, comfort was the deciding factor. The multi-contour seats in the X5 are the most comfortable of all the cars I tried. Even with the fully upgraded Porsche seats, the BMW was still more comfortable.
Been very pleased with the 2024 xDrive 40i, but I’m sure I would have been just as happy with the Cayenne. They’re both fantastic vehicles.

Please note, the sport seat from cayenne 2024 more comfortable then X5M 2023. Please be fares.
@@ibrahimalmotawa967 It depends on the seats. Many X5M come with the carbon fiber seats. In that case, the Porsche seats can be more comfortable.
I’m talking about the BMW 20 way multi-contour seats in Merino leather.
That’s what I have in my 2024 X5 and to me it was more comfortable than the Porsche sports seats by far.
I’m also fairly tall at 188cm/6’ 2”, so having a separate recline for the top of the seat is really nice. Also, the little wings on the headrest support your head very well and reduce neck strain.
The Porsche seats are nice, but I prefer this specific BMW seat.

If you’re ok driving a Volkswagen with uncomfortable seats, then good for you.
I hear the “Porsche” seats can be ok for woman and small men, so it makes sense that it would be perfect for a short little half man like you.
X5 all day! Benz front looks like a small pickup and the Porch looks 20 yrs vintage just my opinion
