I got lucky. I read the book first and let me tell you it messes with your head waaaaayyyyy more than the movie. The movie makes it easier for the person watching to realize he’s actually insane the whole time but in the book the reader is convinced that teddy isnt actually andrew and that the doctors are trying to trick him.
I can't believe people actually believe what the pretended narrative is!! And it makes the story so so much better when you know teddy is actually sane! I think the writer does a wonderful job in sorting out the casualls from the critical thinkers. Any deep thinker will know that Teddy is actually sane!
Thanks for your this comparison video. "Boss" is a term of endearment that might be used by a psychiatrist toward a patient (usually much younger) or by a coach to a player, etc - used to soften status differences. The doctor does call his patient "boss" upon entering the room to reveal himself as a psychiatrist- earlier in the film. I do agree the film does a good edit by taking it out at the end avoiding some confusion while adding suspense.
I recommend Charles Mc Leans "The Watcher" 1986. Its very much about the Question: Is there a chance left youre not insane even though your expiriences feel crazy.
I’ve wanted to watch the movie for a long time, since I’m fond of Leonardo DiCaprio, but I just had to read the book first. I’m so glad I did!!! Eeek’ I usually sip on books, but I pretty much bolted this in maybe three sittings? Including reading the sample to make sure I’d like it, and a bit beyond it? I have so many passages highlighted. His writing!! I’ve been so tired of reading books that just... aren’t very well written. I’m an editor. It kinda bugs me, because it’s very hard to separate work from pleasure at this point. I notice the issues and that makes it hard to just get immersed. I didn’t do that much with this at all. That’s one of the biggest compliments I can give. 😂
I absolutely agree with your interpretation of the ending in movie and book. I also liked the movie ending a bit better, but still thoroughly enjoyed the book (even after having seen the movie first)..
I disagree with what you said about them taking out the activity with the orderlies? Idk how that’s spelled but every time Teddy is in the room they are wary and uncomfortable around him.i think seeing everyone go from playing to stopping cuz he is there or interacting with everyone but teddy would’ve added a lot. Same with Chuck seeing him and his psychiatrist ways would add to our skepticism
Please if you have an analayse of this book can u provide me with it i really need it and thank u in advence i hope u will answer me as soon as possible 😊
I think the best interpretation (especially of the movie ending) is that the conspiracy is real. Teddy is actually Teddy, and Shutter Island is genuinely esperimenting and so forth, and are looking for a way to properly control and silence dangerous critics, as well as an example of the effectiveness of their experimental method.

Excellent comparison, I was looking for a video like yours. Thank you!

The book is way better. And this comes from someone who watched the movie first. I love the movie but the book is a masterpiece

I read before I saw the movie. Very good book
He dies call him boss in the movie at the end but its right before the monster line
Watch the movie again he does call teddy boss... literally just watched it on tv.

Personally, I interpered it like we're actuarlly not supposed to know the truth about him.
