Amazing review as always Joe. I loved the way you summarised the comparisons between SQ7 and X7 M60i. I went for a test drive today, and I must admit that when you drive a SQ7, you completely don't realise that you are driving such a big 7 seater SUV. I watched your review on X7 M60i, but didn't get chance to drive that one yet to experience the differences. Other car we are considering is a 7 Seater RR P530 which has got the same engine as X7 M60i. But the price for that one is like £40k more than a SQ7!
Great review Joe and agree with your conclusion. We are on our second SQ7 having had the diesel one first and now the petrol v8. It’s a fantastic family car. Negatives are: - no dimmer switch for screens at night- need to go through the menu options which is a pain - fuel economy is tragic about 19 mpg - hybrid v8 would be nice option - steering feel. There is none but still enjoyable to drive enthusiastically - plastic steering wheel paddles feel cheap Other than that it’s great. Would have bought another diesel though it that was an option as that engine was perfect and sounded decent too. Not as good as the petrol obviously. Oh and no faults in 6 years of ownership of both cars. Built like a tank.
exactly same plastic paddles I already had in 2013 Octavia 3 RS :). I have MY2025 Q8 and those paddles are present as well ;). probably only in Bentley and Lambo from VW group they are not present ;)
Had one of these for three years (thanks Joe for the original review - which helped persuade me) and get a new one in a couple of months. Feels a bit boring to get the same car again but, needing a family car, I couldn’t find anything else with 7 seats which also sounds awesome and is fairly swift - not at this price point anyway. The new one has a pan roof and the old one didn’t so good to hear your thoughts on that Joe. Thanks for the review! Love your work and always I tune in 😊

I have a ‘24 X7 M60i and this SQ7 was an obvious option. Really didn’t like it, and it felt old. It’s obviously due a proper refresh. The rumors of an SQ9 are interesting though! Might make the switch to Audi once that is released.
It's a shame that Audi stopped fitting the brilliant anti roll bars to SQ7 when they switched from diesel to petrol. They've set that exclusive to SQ8. Those anti rollers make a big impact on body roll and handling on the diesel SQ7 and would have worked wonders in the petrol pot.
It's opt-in the US with sports differential for5k. I've owned one both with and without and it makes tremendous difference. Without the adaptive roll bars thae car doesn't feel eager to turn. It protests a bit and leans over. Add the adaptive bars and it begs you to turn in. It can attack a corner and doesn't feel so big and ponderous. Bonus is that it greatly improves the ride in all modes especially on side to side movements. I consider it a must have option if you drive enthusiastically.
I just transcribed the subtitles at 16 minutes where he described "Dynamic Driving": "Yesterday off camera I did push it through one of my favourite twisty roads and it was pretty respectable, although once you started getting near it’s grip limits the car just started to understeer and that was with everything switched off. I guess that’s what you want in your big seven seater family car. It’s the safest way to approach ….. grip limits, but it wasn’t disappointing. I was still having fun, but I was very aware it’s weight and it’s mass. It didn’t shrink around me in the same way that, let’s say, Audi’s RSQ8 or RSQ8 performance does. Those models seem to defy physics altogether, whereas this one, although it does a good job at pushing physics to one side, you’re very aware of it’s size and of it’s weight." I always hear good things about what the SQ7 TDI, RSQ8, Bentayga, Cayenne and Urus do with the active anti-roll bars. I've had several Mercedes with ABC suspension, and it transforms handling. I think it's a huge loss not having those as an option on the SQ7 any more. This would be a show-stopper for me. Audi UK, please reconsider.
Joe said the BMW X70 M60 was the obvious competitor to the SQ7, but it's nearly a second slower 0-60. However, he clocked 3.97 in his last X7 test in Dec '22. Good enough! The Mercedes AMG GLS is also comparable, though even more expensive. I'm not taking sides - I'm considering all three, but it's difficult to separate them, and none of the reviewers are any help. 😞
Absolutely, it's only natural that 8-9 year old cars are going to cost a fraction of the price, just make sure you have a nice reserve to pay for any major mechanicals.
Great review as always. I was looking through all of your previous SQ7/SQ8 reviews and I don’t think you’ve ever reviewed the optional “S Sports Package” which adds active roll stabilization and sport rear differential. Would love to hear your thoughts on SQ7/SQ8 with this package and how that improves handling in the twisty backroads.
While i'm glad they added a petrol V8, a diesel V8 made more sense for 90% of people. It still had a lot power while being extremely efficient. Now the diesel V8 is dead. Is it more fun than the diesel SQ7? Absolutely, but then again, it's an SUV. That 0-60 is really amazing though.
There is an argument for both, but the V8 Diesel was never massively efficient in this bus, it also costs 10% more at the pumps, not much in it when you factor that in.

Guessing someone buying at this price point it’s not that important? No business user would touch this with a barge pole! BIK will be massive. EV route for them. So very few will be sold!
I would think they are mostly being leases, and I’m guessing around £2k/month. It’s still a lot, no doubt, but more people will find £2k a month (which they probably can’t really afford) than have £100k cash in their account to buy one outright. Nuts either way.
FYI you weren't in launch control. You have to be in S not M (plus stability control fully off and auto start/stop off, engine at operating temp and the steering wheel straight ahead) and the revs will torque boost till about 3,000 rpm. When in launch control you'll be 0-60 mph in 3.5 to 3.6 sec.
Lol... only under 100k new! Sure I'll buy 2. So detached these days. EDIT: I mean the car manufacturers... getting away with thinking of a number and trebling it.
@JoeAchilles1 genuinely did not like my own comment... that was someone else... and the heading of the video is literally titled .. and under 100k new.... im assuming if you had been implying anything other than it was reasonable you would have said nearly 100k for a jacked up s7.. or such like. Reading my comment I guess you have taken it a little personally.. the detached reference was directed at audi... and the car market in general, throwing up prices at a rate far higher than even the crazy inflation for the last few years. But you have a platform where it probably should be challenged... I get that would probably not help the access to their vehicles for review though.
Great review and I love the engine. However a very very small % of people need 7 seats and even less want/able/need to spend £100k. The ZF box is not that reliable under full torque. A £40k EX30 is faster and better looking with plenty left over for holidays. I

FYI you weren't in launch control. You have to be in S not M (plus stability control fully off and auto start/stop off, engine at operating temp and the steering wheel straight ahead) and the revs will torque boost till about 3,000 rpm. When in launch control you'll be 0-60 mph in 3.5 to 3.6 sec.
the grill uff bigger and worse imo than BMW XD
Lol... only under 100k new! Sure I'll buy 2. So detached these days. EDIT: I mean the car manufacturers... getting away with thinking of a number and trebling it.
When did I say "only under £100k"? Why did you like your own comment?
@JoeAchilles1 genuinely did not like my own comment... that was someone else... and the heading of the video is literally titled .. and under 100k new.... im assuming if you had been implying anything other than it was reasonable you would have said nearly 100k for a jacked up s7.. or such like.
Reading my comment I guess you have taken it a little personally.. the detached reference was directed at audi... and the car market in general, throwing up prices at a rate far higher than even the crazy inflation for the last few years. But you have a platform where it probably should be challenged... I get that would probably not help the access to their vehicles for review though.
Who the hell has got £94k for a stupid car when people can’t even afford heating bills
Madness
Isn't q6 better? New face
Great review and I love the engine.
However a very very small % of people need 7 seats and even less want/able/need to spend £100k.
The ZF box is not that reliable under full torque.
A £40k EX30 is faster and better looking with plenty left over for holidays.
I
Joe, you’re using the words ‘little bit’ too often. It’s distracting.
Another Volkswagen in a nicer dress 😮
"...and under £100k new".
Under £100k? Aww, how Audi look after us, hey? 🙄
Audi are taking the micky. This is their “haha look what we can do” car
Lol saying under 100k like it’s some kind of bargain gtfo 😂😂😂
This or a BMW X7 M60i…….
