Something to also bear in mind is that with the Grenadier being a new product from a new company, you're going to want a strong dealer and servicing network because things will go wrong. And they just don't have that yet. That's not to say the Defender won't go wrong, as we know they will, but Land Rover have a huge dealer network.
Of course, as a UK channel, Autocar doesn`t hesitate long to declare the LR as the winner of the test. As british review and reviewers normally do! The LC is a heavier car than the LR and and has 143 HP (!) less than the LR, but is still able to do its job as effortless as the LR. This should be a reason for reflections. But not for Autocar; the british car just HAS to be chosen as a clear winner.
To be fair, the Land Cruiser has been very underwhelming and many reviewers that are not British are also saying the LC is meh. The Lexus is the one to have.
Much as these tests seem impressive ….. crawling speeds over shocking surfaces ….. to do 15 - 20 mph over heavily pitted surfaces continuously makes more sense.
Another (well-known) motoring channel recently put the same 3 vehicles (and the G-wagon as well) through a much more challenging offroad course and the Land Rover Defender (sadly) really struggled... Compared to the Toyota and the Grenadier, the "new" Defender is more of an SUV/school run vehicle. It might perform well in quite easy/short offroad tests/challenges, but you wouldn't want to take the Defender on any sort of overland trip. The owners of Land Rover and Jaguar are pulling out all the stops to destroy these 2 brands.
Hmmm , not exactly a fair fight , big 5 door versions against a 3 door , though Id take the Duster and save meself a few quid . Would have been interesting to see how the Duster and Jimny compared to these overweight expensive lumps that most people will only ever use to go to the cafe on a saturday or pick the kids up !
Where was the summary? Poor effort IMV. Personally its the Ineos for me just for the unbreakable build, next the Toyota and sadly last the LR for its shopping run looks and ubiquity.
Of the 3 only the Land Cruiser is built to last a minimum of 25 years in the world’s harshest conditions. The Ineos is unproven and has BMW drivetrain and the Land Rover is, well we all know what the Land Rover is 😂
@@jcdenton8750 Well what would that say to you, then? If they have actually owned the car, maybe they're qualified to correct the twisted opinions of peasants driving around in their cheap, plastic Jap box.
That's the old Land Cruiser or at least up to the diesel J300 series. This one on the video is J250, a Prado not the full size Land Cruiser and yes, there have been a lot of issues with J250.
Overpriced and overhyped. Top Gear did very recently a comparison between the new Land Cruiser, G-class, Ineos and Defender on their channel and they chose the LC250 as the winner.

Matt, What happened to the wonderful 2 door Land Cruiser you tested a few years ago? It would be a better challenger for the Defender.
Love the Defender only if it was built to last😅

why is there no g class??
It's like double the price
Can't believe, the defender is the cheapest of the lot 😅
To justify the thumbnail I personally think you should have 6 to 10 vehicles not just 3 👍🏻🏴

sorry, around the 8min mark... so does that mean, that you no longer have to worry about your thumbs being broken with modern cars?
Land Cruiser is really cool

Toyotas are trash now, only good point was reliability which they no longer have.
Great video let down by terrible sound 😢
Was the Land Cruiser the only one you didn't have to reverse during that last test?? Also weird, the British guy picking the British car?? lol
Bring back The Empire!
Easy win for Great Britain 🇬🇧
Are you referring to the French Ineos or Slovakian Defender as British?
Where was the summary? Poor effort IMV.

Lets be honest if trapped in the wilderness, and these three were available anyone with any sense would choose the landcruiser.
Toyota reliability is terrible now

Uh oh, you just know you're going to summon a LR fanboy saying how he has owned LR for decades and that they never broke down 😂😂🤣🤣

These new Land Cruisers are cheap pieces of 💩

What about Mercedes g class?
