@Joe Achilles, you too and keep making great content. I love it. BTW, if you are interested in reviewing an IS500, let me know. I would be happy to provide mine as the test vehicle and since it is in the US my family and I would be happy to host you.
That other driver: blind-spot or just bad timing with looking around and just looked away as you approached him. Well done for avoiding it. Your reaction was exactly the same as the one's I've had lol. Merry Christmas.

I've owned five TT's, from the mk1, mk2 TTS and TTRS and mk3 TTS and TTRS. Always worked for me, I don't need the rear seats, but did need the luggage space for fishing gear. My 2019 TTRS was sold a short while ago. Fantastic car, still turned heads and plenty fast enough for daily use. I miss it, now in a new RS4 as finally I have accepted my fate and need more room. The price of this car is nuts, my TTRS was £60k when I ordered it, but then Audi know people will pay it and all 100 will go like hot cakes. Shame they didn't make a mk4 based on the new RS3, that would have been awesome.
I too have had a similar RS3 journey and now also have a RS4. Due to the inclusion of a dog (outvoted by wife and daughters) into our family, our (last version to be non OPF) 2018 RS3, with a heavy heart, had to go. The sound that car made with stock Sports Exhaust (unlike the newest model) was utterly savage. Got to say though, love the RS4….its so multipurpose, equally as quick and definitely turns heads...
Great video Joe. I took my 21 year old TT out for a spin this morning, the first time in two months. Clearly mine isn't in that price bracket. It's still great fun though. Anyway, merry Christmas, I hope you have a good one.👍
6:35 you can see Joe is using 1ft of rollout on the timer (top right). This reduces the 0 to 60 time by about 0.3 (Audi will not use any rollout as is standard outside of USA).
@@InfoAction_ The clock doesn't start until the car has moved a foot. Comes from the days of drag strip timing lights. Modern cars launch so hard that it makes quite a difference and Audi will not have used rollout in their official figures (outside USA)
The only time my TTRS had the back seats up was when I collected it. It does such a good job of hauling my golf clubs around that I can’t see it going any time soon which is unusual
Being the owner of a 2021 TTRS, I’m really not a fan of the aero fins on the front of the car, nor that additional height of the wing on the back, which looks like it came off of someone’s modified 1995 Honda Accord.
First of all Joe thank you for all the awesome content in 2022, wishing you all the Best for 2023 - an even bigger and better year. You must have been driving in stealth mode for the drive to not see you 🤣 but hey these things happen. Happy New year all the best Brother.
All the best Joe, cheers for the great content. Audi what are you thinking charging £85k + for a TT RS and not giving it any extra power or torque above the standard TTRS ...absolutely barmy, get 6 month old BMW M5 Comp for £75k, no brainer !.
I used to jog in LA, and I discovered real quickly that people tend to look left to the near lane of oncoming traffic and barely glance to the right. I used to deliberately slam against cars that didn't stop properly when they crossed the sidewalk without looking to the right. I saw them do it with car traffic a lot also.
Another good video Joe. Shame about the close shave but at least that's all it was. Yup the TT is not for me, even if I was able to afford it! I'll stick with what I have methinks. Happy Christmas to you!
Great review as usual. Entertaining even without the incident - it happens, but impressed you didn’t have more expletives. And on that point… this might actually something to raise with all car manufacturers. I like to think I’m a pretty decent driver, but a couple years back I completely didn’t see a car coming down the road as I was turning right out of a junction. Nothing happened but I’ve more and more noticed just how much space the left hand drivers mirror and a piller take up. Surely car manufacturers should be less concerned about having super strong a pliers in case on the very very rare occasion a car might flip, and ensure better visibility on the a pillars.
Very true. Sometimes in such occasions the A pillars can block a full bus! Also, daytime running lights are another dumb step in the wrong direction. Lights are not just to see, but also to be seen.
3.28 secs to 60, that's nearly the same as the legendary McLaren F1!! Get your mind round that!! Such a shame many sporty coupes like the TT won't be replaced - thanks partly due to the SUV craze and partly to even more stringent emission legislation. I wonder how long the likes of BWM 2 series will hang on...
The 2 series will probably live on longer simply because BMW will continue making inline 6 engines, whereas audi is killing it's 5 cylinder production line with the TTRS and R8 (and the huracan of course). Even the RS3 looks like it's near the end when they stop taking orders.
Great video Joe, enjoyed the content this year. TTRS not my bag, but the winds of change have consigned the iconic TT to history, which is a shame….especially as it’s shrugged off its “hairdresser” image and is a proper little sports car. We’ll miss this type of car in 5 years time….
This is definitely the coolest version of the TTRS, glad to see a proper farewell. I almost bought one instead of my 21 M2C, but the S55 is just a way more exciting engine, despite the cool factor of the 5 cylinder, plus Im not ready to move away from manuals. I hated the (very) hard limiter right at 6800rpm, and the speed always felt a bit more like a novelty. It's super quick to 60, but it's the kind of car that honestly feels a bit dangerous in turns, the chassis balance is all over the place because they push the engine all the way to the front, hanging out over the front wheels. It's the kind of car that's exciting to look at, but I think would become boring after a few weeks of ownership. Also, Joe, if the Carbon Ceramic brakes aren't available at all on this Iconic Edition, it's because they had alot of problems expelling heat. If I remember, the rotors would start to come apart, and I remember reading a few cases of guys on track who had the CCB's get so overheated that the calipers were melting. I was going to spec a TTRS with CCB's, but after test driving one equipped with them and being very underwhelmed, on top of reading all the horror stories about the CCB's on the Audi forums, they seemed like a pretty dumb decision. The standard brakes aren't amazing, but if the Iconic Edition can't be equipped with CCB's, I guess at least Audi was aware of the issues with their CCB's and isn't continuing to sell a very expensive, very flawed brake option. Overall, very glad I went for a manual M2C over a TTRS. Though, I am happy to see a proper swan song for the 5 cylinder TTRS.
Happy holidays Joe! Brilliant video as always! On the other hand this seems like a marketing trim for this car, but being an Audi and limited edition, it will hold its value quite ok
People that drive like that idiot in the beginning should NOT have a drivers license at all. How they even got one to begin with is beyond me. "I go now good luck everybody else" If you know, you know
I think everyone misses the point with this car, its 1 of 11 in the UK for eg so your buying a collector car, simple as that. They will all be sold no problem I think and will be locked away never to be driven. I do think they should have come with carbon ceramics, alcantara headlining and even more done to the interior, perhaps got rid of back seats and done a rear cage/crossmember etc and done some fancy bucket seats but they probably knew full well they wont be driven so why bother haha,
lol Spanish drivers so close Joe!! I`m always a bit nervous driving there after the new year for my 90 days in the sun( south spain) thanks to brexit!!!! cant wait after watching this.
The car doesn't actually feel like it has more torque, in fact, no car does. You actually don't feel a car's torque from the driver's seat. What you're really feeling is the low RPM power because of the improvements in making the car lighter.
The Porsche 992 GT wing suits a bigger car, like a 992… Not sure how I feel about it being put on a car so small. The 8J had a perfect wing for the car size.
The standard RS wing for this 8S generation was also perfectly sized. This wing is a tad visually ridiculous; it is functional, but at odds with the design heritage of the model.
In my opinion, Audi missed an easy opportunity to make this car much more dynamic than they did. With just a front LSD, better tires and a better alignment, it could easily transform this car into something special out of the box, instead of leaving it to the aftermarket to fill those gaps.
