I have a TT MK3 since 2017, and I still love it. It’s my first car with an automatic gearbox, and I’ve never regretted that decision. It picks gears perfectly and smoothly. I’m also glad it’s quattro, the few times that I pushed it really too much in the corner, I did lose grip a little, but I always felt in control. The self-parking feature isn’t always great, as it will just give up if a pedestrian sets off the sensors mid procedure. Also I remember that I had to get used to the lane assist initially (sometimes you need to push it through, if it misreads the lines), but when it goes right, it is helpful. The climate control is really good too, you can only set one temperature for the entire car, but I prefer that. Yes, the sides of the chairs are weak (I had them fixed once as well), but it feels good to sit on them, and during a drive, sometimes they randomly inflate, to remind you you’re driving a special car… one thing to mention: when you unbuckle your seatbelt, it hits a hard plastic, it’s not bad, but could have been improved. Also if you close the boot while sitting in the car, that sounds like you’re breaking something, but I think they engineered it so it sounds good for the person who closes it.
Hello from Canada. I have a 2018 TTs with Quattro. I drive it through our Canadian winters. With a good pair of winter tires my little car can handle most snow and ice. I love my TTs.
Had a MK3 TTS and besides a water bump bill for £1,000GBP, it was a reliable, comfortable, fantastic daily driver Coupe. I would definitely recommend it especially for the used market prices.
I must say, it has come to my attention that reviews u guys do on this channel are holding the exact info I want to hear when looking into buying a older car,! So hats of to you guys and thanks a lot for the great content!

He did say the RS deserves it's own video so if you or anyone reading this is in Sydney should hit them up. It's something I'd be really interested in seeing cos I'm considering a RS.
I have a Mk2 3.2 for me it hits the sweet spot and the fact you can pick them up for 15-20k now whilst also being P plate legal in some states, boggles my mind that they haven’t caught on much.
Same here, they're an absolute Gem, I have to say though the Mk2s can be made to look timeless inside and out with a carplay headunit does just about everything the mk3s can do with a lovely vr6 sound track bit thirsty tho XD
Always fancied the 3.2 but sadly here in England the running costs on big gas cars make them pretty much un useable as a daily. I'm looking at a MK2 TDI quattro Black edition as my next car.
It's surprising that they're not at least 5X the amount of subs considering (to my knowledge at least) they're somewhat in a league of their own cos not everybody is looking to buy new making it such a great concept for a YT channel. I must admit I've only been around for a year or so after a shout out from Al on The Skid Factory.
I almost bought this car, but ended up with A5 2020. It has also frameless Windows ans they drop down 1cm when opening the door. I got my car recently covered in snow and ice and the windows stayed that cm down so I could open the door, even when fully frozen. I find that smart, I bet TT does that also with later models or with software update.
Have always had a soft spot for these things but unlike Adam, have always thought the original was aging extremely poorly. Top spec RS trim, but if i have to slum it (and i do) a TTS will suffice! Maybe one day... Great, entertaining review guys, as always.
Great review. In no way in the market for a new car (just bought something else off the back of your videos!) but always so well presented and such great advise. Thanks for putting in the hard yards and tackling such an underserviced review market.
'looking for a car park near the hair dresser'....love it! These cars have been popular over the years and are enjoyable to drive and practical to boot. It's just a pity that these will soon be disappearing from the market.
No way! I love your channel and literally just started looking at the TT S this morning. Went straight to your channel to find a review and it wasn’t there :) Check UA-cam a few hours later and BANG! Love you guys! ❤❤❤
13:44 I own a convertible and had exactly this issue with drain boxes - passenger side was flooded with water, 4-5 cm deep. I claimed this directly by Audi, since user’s manual does not mention maintenance of these drain boxes, how should I know. In the end Audi refused to repair the car under warranty, they just compensated 400€ for the damage, and I paid 1100€ on top of this 🤦♂️
I like your review... very charismatic , funny and informative. Love this blue colour, top notch. I'm having trouble parting with my mk1 Audi TT! These mk 3's are still in my opinion lovely looking
0:09 i hear yours is lovely too. I always liked the Design/Aesthetics of an TT - I'd want a TTRS for the delicious inline 5, but i'll stick to JDM. I've learnt my german-car lessons by way of a mk5 Golf FSI
Switch back to German. Japan hasn’t moved on and isn’t investing in sports car and engine technology for a while now. German DSG and engine technology is leaving Japan behind.
My 2001 tt quattro is still going strong and lots of fun to drive with a few upgrades like Haldex controller, stage 1 and few suspension and brake modes. It is a sports car because it only has two seats and with rear seats removed like the sport model there is good storage. The tt makes so much sense in northern wet climates whereas rear wheel drive sport cars are not getting the power to the ground. If you want more space get a hot hatch or an SUV! Then there is that 5 cyl engine in the newer models, just puurrfect!
I’ve had a Mk1 225 Quattro for 20 years, and the last 5 years I’ve also had a diesel golf which is nearly ready for the scrap yard. I’ve traded the TT in for a Mk3 TT but I’ve gone for the TDI. Diesel Power 💪 and crazy mpg 😁
Hey guys hope this saves someone the hassle of going down the Audi TT path, don’t get a mk2 unless it’s a manual, dsg maintenance and servicing is not worth it it at all. I loved my 3.2 but if I had my time over I would’ve just got it with a gear box that doesn’t bring sadness
No they are just annoyed with the delusion that mostly comes from the west. Fucking they them bs, I prefer to be called sir and king, pls refer to me as king, sir, and master because I associate my self as a 16th century king. Not delusion, because I said so.
Also anyone interested in a TTS or a TTRS, the RS while clearly the faster, louder TT, the cost of replacing disc brakes every 30,000kms or so is ridiculous (~$3000 a pair) compared to the more refined TTS
There is definitely an RS tax once you hit that level. The base and TTS are really no worse than maintaining a golf but once you go RS everything seems to get much more expensive.
@@drodes a little bit more expensive. But 8 pot, two-piece 370mm brakes are no joke. The reward - the sound. The sound is the only reason you need it for. Everything else is a bonus
As I understand TFSI engine is not reliable at all…camshaft sprocket are getting worn out due to the low oil pressure especially in audi plug in hybrid, as you mentioned timing chain needs to be replaced and carbon build up is something you have to deal with. It’s really terrifying ordeal.😊
I have the mc 2 and drives brilliantly and certainly doesn't drive like any golf especially when you activate the sport button then it flies like a rocket and I have had and driven a fare share of muscle v 8 cars
I'm about to sell my 3.2 Mk2 (2008), and it makes sad just thinking about it! It only has 80k (miles) on the clock, but it hasn't been without its issues, including water in the battery compartment, issues with xenon headlights, front bose speakers conked out, and probably some other stuff I can't remember... But I dont care! The car is just so much fun to drive, especially as mine has the S-tronic gearbox and Audi Magnetic Ride. Despite being a relatively old car, it still turns a few heads. Gonna miss this little beast... 😢
I own a used MK2 TT base model for almost 2 years now and had a lot of issues fixed when I first got it and now its in working condition and just maintain normally until something else breaks (which I hope not) but will do take note on the water pump
Love me some TT. They are one of the most underrated quasi-performance cars, but that’s mostly because they’re better than the equivalent Golf and usually cost less. You look at basically any TT and the equivalent ‘fast’ golf is more expensive and weirdly more coveted. TTs are a bargain compared to a Golf of any kind. They feel more special and the first ones at least feel like you’re getting something quite bespoke for peanuts. If you want a real sports car, get an MX5. But if you’re buying a bloody golf, just get one of these.
Have owned two Mk 1s (coupe and a roadster) and owned a mk3 for 6 years , loved them all. Older TT Mk 1 needs committed owner for required maintenance items due to age. Lower km Mk 3 should be pretty much built proof.
Had my 2016 roadster nearly 8 years now. Had the thermostat housing / water pump done under warranty but not much else needed doing in that time. Despite being a roadster its a great fun daily driver for me, now the kids have left home. Problem is I don't want a hulking SUV and I don't want an EV so when it comes to replacing it my choices are limited. I sit in other cars and I look at their interior and think - this would be a downgrade and I would regret buying it. So I seem to be stuck with it.
Well, I wanted a 5feet ship as a daily, a car that was sporty, definitely a coupe, with trunk space, and couldn't handle my 750km*2 usual trips well and without consuming too much. With all these criterias, there was actually one car that matched: Audi TT 2.0 TDI. I tried it, expected it to be a boring engine, and it actually was really cool to drive. Lots of tork, a really cool grawly sound. So if you're short on money (and you want a daily, else go and take a mx5) you should try a MK3 TDI. They are manual by default, they are cheaper both to buy and to own, and if you give them a chance, it might surprise you. With that mk3 they did a really good work on the exhaust sound, especially for a diesel.
@@raidden-1583 I have driven Diesels since I have my license. I got enough of these even had to swap the DPF of one of my cars because it literally didn't wanted to regen anymore. Thank god it was a Bimmer, therefore costs were certainly low when doing everything yourself and having the software to register is also ez peasy on BMW. But yeah, a Diesel? Nuh maybe as a Daily Comfortable Sedan I would consider going for a Diesel Skoda Superb Sedan or a Passat B8 2.0 TDi 190hp Sedan.
@@xxzmk If I said "try it out", it's because everyone dislike diesels, I expected you to too. But this one, and tbh, Audi in general is really good at making sporty diesel, will surprise you. It's true tho that it's still not recommended if you do 10-20km a day and not really enough road to clear it out. Despite it's pretty tough, actually the most reliable of all mk3 tt's, but that wasn't the point.
@@raidden-1583 I actually daily a diesel currently because I have to travel like 160km a day. But after april I will have to only drive about 40km a day and driving a Diesel can be frustrating at such ranges. I already had issues with my DPF despite long range travel etc. Don't get me wrong I love Diesels and how they can be really punchy and sporty but they lack Acceleration Performance in the upper 100-200 speeds and as a German who loves to speed on the Autobahn it can be frustrating when a mere Polo GTi with a 399€ Stage 1 Tune wrecks you totally on the left lane and costs in every aspect less.
A fantastic continuation of Audi’s original Bau Haus design. So many people forget, VW engines/transmissions usually perform/last better when they aren’t fitted to a VW branded vehicle.
Ok so from a UK owners perspective, no it's NOT just a fancy Golf, in a world of samey looking cars the TT is a beacon of individuality, at least in my opinion...and I think VAG is stupid to cease production after 20+ years of such an iconic car. I've owned 2 TT's over the last few years firstly a Mk1 225 Quattro then something else not quite so good ($hitroen ds3, was just gutless) and now a Mk2 TT Tdi 170 Quattro, which I bought quite by accident as it happens, and have owned for a few years now, and I have to say as someone who has owned (50+) cars and driven a lot more cars over the years, having worked in the Motor Trade, My TT is just brilliant, no reliability issues, well apart from the rear light earth issue which I fixed, it handles decently, goes round corners well, and feels nicely solid on the road in dry and also more importantly wet conditions with the Quattro, and in a lot of instances a whole lot better to drive than a lot of much newer cars I've driven. Would I buy another TT.... hell yes... I never thought I'd sell my mk2, as shes pretty low mileage and I'm happy with her, but recently I've been looking at Gen 3 TT's but the spec I want seems pretty hard to find, without spending mega bucks, so as for now I think I'll be keeping my 15 year old Mk2 TT. Btw that Blue TT you have on test is just gorgeous 👍👍👍
My friend had one of the older models with the 3.2 liter vr6 with almost 300000 kilometers. It was and still is a good sports car and fun to drive but i never really liked the exterior design of any generation
I don't like german cars due to their over- engineering etc. BUT I must say that the lack of a center screen is very very nice to see! I hate those screens (I barely use) and they distract most of the time (often those screens are way to high mounted and the driver need to turn them off manually).
My 16 year old step-daughter when she hopped into my 2001 Alfa Spider, with its central cluster of gauges angled toward the driver. "It's so.....analogue!". Yes, Hanna. Yes, it is.
audi's tt mk3 is the most reliable audis car btw lol...the mk3 is prety good to go,every german car need often services(they are not hondas after all) but this mk3 tt is actually realiable
Nothing goes wrong with them because no one bought one unfortunately. Joking. On a serious note, drove a base auto (non S) coupe on an Audi drive day in 2017 back to back with an S3 Cabriolet. Liked both of those cars, but even with less power and being on the same platform the TT felt way more sports car like. Surprisingly quite unrefined compared to the other cars (A4, A5, A7, S3 Cab, Q5 and Q7), a bit loud but in my opinion the driving position was felt more sporty and the car felt faster than the S3. Having owned my dream car (NC MX-5 manual) it felt pretty good to me. I do work in an Audi dealership the only thing I've seen booking them for service / diag in was water pumps / thermostat housing - probably the one sore point on say 2017 on 2.0 TFSIs and not cheap to do at the dealer, although one of the first ones also did something stupid like I think all the widow glass unsealed and fell into the car or something bizarre like that. From brief drive, crap ride, loud but fun and fast and I'd probably not be turned off if it had an AAP warranty for a couple of years. Oh and 60k, 120k services are very expensive as you due spark plugs and transmission fluid (which one customer asked me "why is that so expensive, is it made of myrr?")
Whatever area of Australia youre in looks exactly like a mirror image parallel universal variation of the santa monica / palisades area of los angeles. Wild.
I went against my better judgment and purchased a base model T-Roc mainly as it was $36,990. I figure I’m $6K ahead, enough to pay for maintenance and repairs. As for the TT I really like it.
Howned a 2018 tt rs and love it and feered it i must say . A différent monster . I think the tt s is the sweet spot . I hown now a 2024 golf r and a 2020 audi s5 sportback and if à tts can behave sonehow like à golf r . There is a silice of danger that can be less .

Great, entertaining review guys, as always.
Mk1 is retro cool and with wider wheels and on better suspension a little lower look great.
Corn feed your tts. U will be surprised
Great review as always! I have a MK2 manual TTRS if you wanted to test, I'm based in Melbourne though...
Have a 1.8T Mk3 and only issue I've had is the water pump needing to be replaced. Remapped to 265hp and 300ft-lbs, no dramas.
Jim never fails to dissapoint 😂😂 "Bloody VW engines" 😂😂
No way! I love your channel and literally just started looking at the TT S this morning. Went straight to your channel to find a review and it wasn’t there :) Check UA-cam a few hours later and BANG! Love you guys! ❤❤❤
We can’t rule out the possibility that we’re telepathic
Hope it happens to me regarding the ' 380 '😅.
Great review, the more videos I watch the more I want a TT. Certainly feel the Matt from Carwow influence here, can only be a compliment.
I love the twist you did to your usual intro, very engaging!! Road to 500k in 2024!!
I have a TT Mk1 3.2 V6 it's a better built Golf R32 in a better handling package and at a cheaper price (and less thrashed!)
Yes, this!
MkI TT V6 is a thing to behold.
@mattdebyl8806 I've owned two R32 golfs so I can say it's true without bias.
13:44 I own a convertible and had exactly this issue with drain boxes - passenger side was flooded with water, 4-5 cm deep. I claimed this directly by Audi, since user’s manual does not mention maintenance of these drain boxes, how should I know. In the end Audi refused to repair the car under warranty, they just compensated 400€ for the damage, and I paid 1100€ on top of this 🤦♂️
I have mk3 tt quattro 230 bhp mapped to 300 and it goes really well when needed and drive steady can get high 30s low 40s to the gallon ..Great car
Have you tested the Mercedes w177 current shape A250 ? Sorry I couldn’t find a search function in your videos. Cheers
Love the back-seat review - you looked like a ham & cheese toasted sandwich I squashed together today 😂
I like your review... very charismatic , funny and informative. Love this blue colour, top notch. I'm having trouble parting with my mk1 Audi TT! These mk 3's are still in my opinion lovely looking
hello. im torn between a 2012 C250 coupe vs 2010 Audi TTS 2.0, which one has better reliability & lesser issues? thank you
0:09 i hear yours is lovely too.
Any chance of doing a video on that Escort behind Jim?
Great review, but when are you going to review the TTrs😁 Pretty please 🙏
I’ve had a Mk1 225 Quattro for 20 years, and the last 5 years I’ve also had a diesel golf which is nearly ready for the scrap yard. I’ve traded the TT in for a Mk3 TT but I’ve gone for the TDI. Diesel Power 💪 and crazy mpg 😁
Completely unrelated but is that an eco boost in the escort? Definitely want to know more about that machine! Can we do a Jim’s cars feature? 🥳
You guys are tops. Wot an effort. Very entertaining.
I have a mk3 tt ultra diesel and love it to bits fast and 60mpg. Costs £20 for road tax.
Im in the UK. 184bhp and 149 mph.
"everything he needs or she needs or they need" Okay inclusive king! We love you for it!
No they are just annoyed with the delusion that mostly comes from the west. Fucking they them bs, I prefer to be called sir and king, pls refer to me as king, sir, and master because I associate my self as a 16th century king. Not delusion, because I said so.
Nice review. How about a review on the infamous BMW i3?
I have an Audi TT Roadster from 2013, best car i have ever owned.
The TT RS is the most fun car that i have driven even better than a new RS 6
Also anyone interested in a TTS or a TTRS, the RS while clearly the faster, louder TT, the cost of replacing disc brakes every 30,000kms or so is ridiculous (~$3000 a pair) compared to the more refined TTS
Don’t replace the brakes with OEM factory ‘butter’ ones. Save lots of money with aftermarket - as everyone does
There is definitely an RS tax once you hit that level.
@@MrTroytroydefinitely right on that and worth it. After I drove a friends TTRS my TTS felt like a real step down.
Gen 3 tfsi engines are very reliable.
When the "What goes wrong?" section is a whopping 7 minutes, you know it's a banger.
Yet, wasn’t bad at all
😂😂😂
so do the TTS-line and TTS have the same engine and its only a computer tune diffremce, or do the TTS have a bigger turbo pr spmtjing else ?
TTS bigger turbo. S line has GTI engine
Same engine but bigger turbo and tune differences.
I could be wrong, but I’ve heard the R engine has stronger internals as well.
The only thing I can afford is his dressing code totally nailed it 💯♥️
Wish you did the generation before this one but will take it. 👍
The Mark 1 TT was incredible and still my pick
370z for me. And 200k subs here we come!! 😊
Great review, I’ll still be waiting for the TTrs review
This or the 370z from your videos as daily driver?? For what would you decide
Such a dream car. Unfortunately those at about 60k miles with the 2.0 TFSi cost min. 20k € in Germany. And many of them are autos and not manuals.
The beauty of Albert Biermann, who now has transformed Hyundai/Kia to the next level.
A fantastic continuation of Audi’s original Bau Haus design. So many people forget, VW engines/transmissions usually perform/last better when they aren’t fitted to a VW branded vehicle.
Mk2 tt is my favorite so far I had the mk1 To bad this car is not being made anymore 😢
My pick of the bunch of TT's are the 2nd Generation TTRS - with a Manual.
Yes.
Thats the only car with audi's 5 cyl with a manual box.
What would be the best engine to go for?
How about testing a ZB Commodore?
Good call, love to read those, its not a Commodore comments😅.
Great video - but can we perhaps look at Jim in the drivers seat and the rear - I do feel that will likely reveal a different result. 6’2 is a lot
Don’t take it to a dealer and halve your costs on big services.
Who else wants to buy these guys a beer? 🍻
What color is that? Or is that a wrap?
Ok,i need to meet zofia😂❤
Loved that voice.
Good video, but you should have touched on the TTRS a bit
How long do you guys have a car normally when you do a review
Was this filmed early in the morning?
Howned a 2018 tt rs and love it and feered it i must say . A différent monster . I think the tt s is the sweet spot . I hown now a 2024 golf r and a 2020 audi s5 sportback and if à tts can behave sonehow like à golf r . There is a silice of danger that can be less .
Who would lust after one of these with so much choice? Not including the RS in that (like you blokes didn't).
well done, and you're such a pleasure to watch.
I am Hungarian and I don't understand a single word about what that (probably russian) girl says. But hey, at least I had the subtitle in a language I recognize. :)
Happy owner of a 230HP 2.0T. The interior quality is just far far superior to the Golf and even the S3.
So tired of reading this hairdresser comment about the TT
Just drive cars you like the look of!
Overused joke that middle aged and/or boomers make that everyone rolls theirs eyes at
Its similar to all the cat jokes for women, move on😅.
Hairdressers drive 4bys. It’s so dumb.
Adam and Jim can you please review a VW Passat specifically with W8 engine
Don’t think we got the W8 here.
@@mattdebyl8806 I wouldn’t say they’re common but I have occasionally seen them pop up in used car market places
If you want a great german car always buy the manuals
Water pumps. If there's anything in this world... that straw that breaks the camel's back... the thing that flips me over the edge and wants to buy an electric car, it's flipping water pumps.
Very true about screens. Especially European cars, as soon as the screen looks old no one wants them.
Unless it's a 911 screen
To add on to the interior aging well, I think those massive touchscreens in cars are overrated.
Bulshit, beautiful car, I’m not a vag guy, but this is a beautiful car.. I like the gti even, but my tast is the tt (if I was a vag guy)..
