Just took delivery of my ‘21 TT RS here in the US. For me it’s about straight line speed with sublime interior and engine note. And unlike in Europe, this car is FAR rarer than most Porsches, which adds to the value. I love Audi’s unapologetic modern design language - it’s a real head turner. Checks all of the boxes. ✅
I had a real hard time deciding between a used MY19+ TT RS and a new MY22 BMW M240i. Ultimately the latter was too good of a value to pass up (and purple!), especially after TT RS prices got all jacked up in the US post-pandemic. But I still keep scrolling the classifieds for the right TT RS, it's just so magnetic. Enjoy your ride!
@@vomErsten Yeah, I paid a shit ton for this car, and prices are due to plummet. But I can't look back. TT RS will be a bit of a classic in a few years, especially with electrics being shoved in our faces. Congrats on your M240i. Enjoy
Okay so this is going to shock all of you. I have owned about 14 Porsches including the 911 Turbo S. I currently drive a 2021 Spyder. Love the car but it isn’t a daily driver. Nearly brake my back getting in and whilst the lines and sound are fantastic I am going to but a 2023 Audi tt RS. It’s so much more practical and the practicality supersedes the sound of the Spyder. It is marginally faster and technologically more advanced. A change is good and although i have never owned an Audi, don’t think I will be disappointed,
Had 2 Boxster S 3.4L and now a TTRS. I like them both in different ways and there isn’t anything I dislike about either really Prefer the Audi interior, prefer the Porsche PDK, prefer the Audi engine sound, prefer the Porsche handling and so it goes on Just own both at some point and your sorted lol
Recently bought a MK2 TTRS manual, thankfully plenty of non-filtered sound in mine! Agree with you about the relentless performance, astonishing pace on a b-road.
Great balanced vid Pete, I have a 2018 ttrs roadster stage 1 running 506bhp/465ib with carbon intake and after market exhaust, it sounds immense and goes like a rocket, safely 😁
Every time I see you outside your home doing these videos, it reminds me of your carvid 19 video series. Man, you and some other UA-camrs helped a lot of us get through those crazy days of lockdowns and full hospitals Porsche
Ok, I’m 1.5 years into my ownership here in the USA. Where I live, Porsches are a dime a dozen. Corevettes and BMWs as well. Everywhere I go with this TTRS I get looks and comments. There are literally more Ferraris around than TTRS’s. I have an exotic that I paid $62k for. Haven’t had a single issue, it gets amazing MPG when I’m not on it. I did a stage 1+ tune, so I’m just over 500 hp and it’s just a ballistic missile! Love it!
2 years in for me, and I also paid 77k since I bought a new '22. I've done the same upgrades as you along with 18" wheels, better brakes, and a rear sway bar. This car is incredibly practical for my wife and me.
Great review ! I currently own a BMW Z4 e86 coupe and I’m looking to change to an Audi TT RS. My budget will only allow me to go for a 2009-2010 Model , but for that I still get 335hp and also the option of a 6 speed manual. Very much looking forward to my first test drive !
I absolutely loved this video, the camera shot from the RHR wing was awesome. That sound from the 5 cyl on full chat is addictive. The RS would be my choice.
Many thanks Pete, for this video and the previous review you undertook on the TTS. I have very recently bought my first TT, which is a 2017 Sline 2ltr 227bhp Quattro model, that only has 25k miles on the clock. Still playing with and getting used to it, and the noise it makes when in Dynamic mode is phenomenal! This I think is what you are referring to as a slightly older model, before they messed about with the noise, etc. requirements of modern cars. Am planning to take it down to Italy in the summer; can't wait. Cheers, Andy.
A little debacle of mine this! I Spent a lot of time specking a 718 to a great spec of mine, then ended up ordering the new RS3, Awesome! After a few months I could no longer take the torment...I don't know whether its what one calls "The Porsche effect" or what but ended up then ordering the 718 in Feb and cancelling the RS3! Can't wait until I take delivery later in 2022/23
The 5 cyl engine was precisely why I bought an RS3 8Y, it really is a legend. The RS3 is a future classic and the last ‘new’ Audi to get the in line 5, sad times. I considered the TTRS but couldn’t get away with two seats (the back seats are only useful for humans called Douglas Bader). The big elephant in the room though with all these cars is lead in time and subsequent inflated second hand prices. My RS3 is the first brand new car I have ever had that went up in value as I drove it off the forecourt - crazy times.
Bought RS3 on 19 plate in March, best car I've ever owned. Traded in S6 on 68 plate. 'Crawley Audi RS3' video on here was my purchase. Amazing car!! Though prices are hiked up.
Amazing review, love hearing honest feedback of both cars and not some random drivel, genuinely informative as well, subscribed. The latest TT RS is so on point, it might understeer when pushed on a track but in the real world on the road, in all weather, there's not much that will touch it this side of a GTR, that thing is a BEAST. The Porsche is lovely don't get me wrong, but if you're not tracking it to the limit, the TT is a serious contender. Interior is beautiful, exterior is beautiful, performance destroys most things up to supercar level and the grip is other worldly at speeds way in excess of what most people are comfortable driving at. That engine and exhaust note as well, man, change of pants please.
That TTRS is awesome but for me personally I'd have the 718 anytime. I had to sell my 981 Cayman S in October last year and it still pains me. Porsche are just something else.
That's interesting to know. Looking to save up and get a 981 cayman either non S or save up a few extra months for a S. Was surprised to see the mk3 TTRS now going for 30k in the UK which is around the same as a cayman S. Hard to choose
@@zaink7037 Save up and wait a little longer for the 981 S mate, it's absolutely worth it. The base Cayman 981 feels a little underpowered in my opinion.
The problem is…. they’re all great drives in different ways. Spoilt for choice. Enjoyable video and thoughts. I love the aural sensation of driving and have bought cars on sound alone…. only to regret the other variables later!! I am lucky to be enjoying the Porsche thing just now. But a quality TT is a fine beast for sure. Enjoy your new car
IMO, you made the right choice. Residual-wise, obviously prices are going to drop closer to pre-Covid levels, but it seems Porsche will almost certainly fare better than any other brand. I also think by nature, the Boxster is more of a junior supercar...a supercar for the road...than the TT RS, which to my mind is more of a junior super GT. I also think that the TT RS convertible is a fast and capable convertible but is master of nothing other than speed. From the Boxster GTS, I can see you naturally progressing to either a GTS 4.0 (classic supercar brought up to date), a 911 992 Cabrio (more pup friendly), or maybe even a McLaren 570S Spider (arguably the best convertible supercar). Of course, from the TT RS you could take any route you liked, but I think the natural path looks quite different. All that said, you may well find that the GTS 2.5 is the best sports car for your tastes on UK roads, bar none, and very hard to find a good replacement for.
i had a choice between the mk3 TTRS and the Porsche Caymen 3.4 litre in guards red, with the 20 inch wheels, the TTRS in Sepang blue with silver wheels was just stunning ,and is the drive, and although i previously had a mk3 TTs in Tango red ,i wanted a car that i could keep forever and possibly tune and enjoy it , without a doubt the TTRS is in a class of its own , its a piece of eye candy inside and out, being able to see the engine and being able to service it, and clean it, makes a closer and more in depth ownership experience,, the TTRS is in a class of its own and that makes it special, if you buy the boxter you will probably upgrade in time to a 911.
You made the right choice, 2.5 flat 4 and all. I own an RS3 and I will never throw it around corners like you can with the GTS. Power….yes the 5 cylinder loves to make it. But then again so does that forged amazing flat 4 you have. It just hasn’t been fully tapped yet. Porsche makes some of the best turbo engines ever in my opinion.
Loved your video and completely understand why you bought the Porsche. I have owned neither and was leaning toward the Cayman. (That Porsche mystique.) But, then, I drove one and discovered how loud the engine is. Just bought a 2018 TT RS. Had been looking for a TTS, but when I found a 5 cylinder, I just had to buy it. It has a nice growl, but with the engine up front, the cabin is much quieter than the Porsche. I find it to be more refined and livable. (And, I do plan to put my bike in the back!) Cheers!
For all round ability cost and quality the RS wins in my opinion. Got mine for £52500., for the basic RS including the comfort and sound pack. Brilliant car. Limit the options to what you really need and represents good value against the Porsche.
Fantastic video Pete. I had the same dilemma, took delivery of a new 72 plate TTRS roadster, nardo grey and yes it's an awsome car but where's the noise from that 5 pot engine gone. So when a friend of mine decided to sell his Porsche boxter S 981 roadster and gave me 1st refusal I just had to acquire it. It's 10 years old, one owner, 26500 miles, full Porsche history, in white. OMG it sounds amazing, that flat 6 engine with no opf filters has done the trick for me. So much so , do I now sell the TTRS, well the answer to that is......... NO I just can't bring myself to part company with it. So the Audi is my autumn through to winter car, and Porsche is my spring to summer car. Yes I do realise I'm in a very fortunate position to own such vehicles when all my grandson has got coming is EVs. Thanks again for your time Pete in producing your channel and thanks for taking the time to read my story.
I agree with your conclusion re the TT RS, get one before they dulled the sound of the engine. Yet, even though the Porsche 718 4-pots don't sound great, they don't sound bad by currrent standards. Some of the best sounding engines have become almost unrecognizable.
Loved this video! I own a 2008 TTS and adore it. Bought it in Jan to replace the commuter C class I had pre-pandemic for a bit of fun now I don't do the big miles although in future I'm hoping to stretch to a TTRS that's a couple of years old, budget allowing.
as a long term owner of a ttrs convertible... what a wonderful review!.. Should i have bough the porche? Who knows ? My car is a sweet spot - 6 years old - all the noise you want ! all the performance you need. Soft top so you hear the engine .. But you never know what is on the other side of the fence I never had a porker .BUT . i was and still am Happy with my choice - i will NEVER sell it, I sell it - every time i drive it I smile ( what else do you need? ) great review - thanks
That is a decision I would not want to make. On the one you have the aggressive lines of the TT and on the other you have the timeless lines of the Porsche. Either way I don't believe you can go wrong. Another great video Sir.
People should start to understand horses are not the only quality of a sportscar - its the package (weight, chassis, steering, feel, etc..) If sportscars would be just about 0-100/0-60 then Teslas would be the best sportscars ;-) Great Vid as always! Thanks
I have had 2 Audi TT's, 1 roadster MK2 and 1 Coupe MK3 Quattro proline S which I recently sold with pain in my hearth. BUT!! just a few weeks and then I get my Cayman S from 2016!!!! Can't wait 🙂 Tnx for the great video.
Had a similar dilemma when I came to buy my TTS in 2020 over a slightly older Boxster 'S', as the practicality was what I needed. The RS is tempting, but I would have delete the fixed spoiler as I did with my 'S'.
Having had several Audis I am with you on the Porche well...just being a Porche and thats why it wins. Audis are gloried VW's and having lived through the cost and reliability nightmare of having an Audi with no Warranty I would never ever go there again. Enjoy your Porche and sleep well knowing you made the better choice for You
I haven't watched the video yet but I would imagine it's because a car that's fast in a straight line is fun for a day, a car that handles like a Porsche is fun for a lifetime.
I had a well specced mark 3 Audi TTS coupe and loved it, but it missed out on the 6 cylinder warble that it’s predecessors (and current day competitors) has. Coming from various BMWs and Audis I completely understand Pedros allure of the Porsche badge, handling, quality and kudos. So I sold my beautiful ara crystal blue TTS and got a porker! I have no regrets whatsoever. If I had been in pedros shoes though I wouldn’t have bought his 2.5 litre 4 pot 718 GTS. I would have put my name down on the long waiting list for a brand new 718 4.0 litre 6 cylinder GTS and spent the year on the list saving up the extra £10k I needed to buy it.
Another great vid. Despite all the reasons for the TT I think it’s still got to be Boxster. The Porsche definitely has more wow factor from an aesthetics point of view for me anyway. Looks more special imo.
The Porsche and TT are both great cars, however as I am also an owner of a two seater soft top car it depends greatly on your lifestyle.. I have another daily runabout (Dacia Duster) to do the shopping, put my bicycle/dogs in the back going to the garden centre etc. I would say the Audi TT is a better choice if it is going to be your only daily car.
I fully understand what you’re saying. Nice to have a choice. For me a TTRS. Porsche I think, are overpriced and overhyped. For me, it’s all about speed and practically.👍😁🤔
Thanks for another awesome review. I would certainly agree that a used MK3 TTRS is the way to go as I’ve been the very proud owner of a Launch Edition TTRS Coupe for nearly 3 years that was specd with close on £14K worth of options. It’ll be 6yrs old in October, still looks like New and has only covered 19K miles, feel free to let me know if you’d like to review/compare this unrestricted version as I’m not that far away🤔
Mate of mine bought a brand new TT-225 Coupe in 2003. He's still got it ! Used only on holidays in the summer months now. Rust issues have started creeping up though :(
I’ve owned 2 TT’s in the past and I’m onto my 2nd 718 Cayman now. I would definitely choose the Porsche with out hesitation. Great build quality, great performance for the road and bucket loads of kerb appeal. Looking forward to the first review of your Boxter.
Sir Pete I say it every time but it’s true! What a fantastic video! All great points and very well compared. I totally agree with you. the mid engine convertible platform of the Porsche adds a element the Audi just can’t quite match. Audi TT is my dads dream car. One day I hope to own a Audi TT rs and be able to share it or even gift it to my father in future
Great episode. TT all the way! I've been driving a manual petrol Mk2 3.2l for the last 2 years and loving it! Bike fits only front wheel off. My 17 years old daughter or my wife also fit in the back for short journeys.
Have a 2018 ttrs in Merlin Purple & love it . Engine Alone for the win . I think had you tested an abt 2018 ttrs-r model roadster in black you would have chosen that !
Hi Pete, I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on the TTRS. Its supercar performance for sportscar money. I just bought an mk2 TTS and have just sold my Mk1 TT roadster. I can't get enough of these cars hence why my next car will be an Mk2 TTRS. I just think the Mk2 looks better for some reason, more aggressive. By the way, Audi has invited me to a test day on the 16th. Thanks a million for the tip on "keep on asking". Apparently, it works!!
Pete, believe me, you bought the right sports car. Nothing beats the mid-engine Boxster. I love that car, having owned 3, its fantastic. Besides, your wife already has two TT's.
Pete, your closing statement was right along where I was thinking, looking at the market pricing on used, seem to be a lot of car for reasonable money.... - do you know what model year Audi started going over the top of the exhaust filters, was it 2019 and onwards? Cheers!
I had an RS as a loan car when my TT roadster was in for service and I preferred the standard car, fast enough for fun whilst staying within the speed limit. Of course I would go back to a Boxster if the prices were not so high at the moment.
I bought a new Boxster S with the Sports Chrono Package in 2011 and then traded it out for a used 2014 Carerra S (991.1) in 2016. When I bought the Boxster I also considered the TT, but the handling and the feel of the Boxster was so much better, much more communicative. The trouble with an open top car here in Central Florida is the weather, because of the heat and humidity, driving with the top down can be quite tiring, so I ended up with the 911 Coupe. My biggest criticism of Porche’s in general is the PDK programming, in normal mode it upchanges way too early (yes you can drive in manual mode). Putting it in sport improves that but to really push the car sport plus (part of the Sport Chrono Package) brings it alive. My 911 doesn’t have Sport Chrono but since the warranty is expired I use a Cobb Tuning gizmo that allows me to change the PDK shift points to be more aggressive. So going back to the original question lower powered Boxster or TT RS, for me it would be the Boxster all day long.
PP, for me the Audi TT RS would be my choice, but it's nice to have a choice of two wonderful sports cars. Everytime you do a review of a car and open the Hatch or Boot, I always expect the two pups to pop their heads up, which always makes me smile. 🙂 Great video again, your giving Harry's Garage a run for this money with your content these days, keep it coming PP. 👍
I totally understand where your coming from I have a 2018 TTRS and love it! In saying that when I do change it ( no time soon)I will be probably be looking at a Porsche.
Hi Pete, Loving the content. I have been lucky enough to own both a brand new Boxster and a brand new Audi TT S over the last few years. I bought the TT first and loved it. Beautifully built with quality materials and fast enough for me. I my ownership not one problem over 12K miles. Looked amazing when washed and waxed. Thought that I would treat myself to the ultimate "affordable" sports car so purchased a Boxster. Worst car buying decision I have ever made !!! From the start nothing but problems. Rattles from the soft top which Porsche were never able to fix. Electrical gremlins with the door windows ( burnt out motors ), climate control malfunctions and warning lights coming on for no reason. It took Porsche 6 months to sort these. Rear brakes locking under breaking and on one occasion causing me to do a 360 just before a bend. Porsche would not take the car back for a refund, but eventually offered to buy it for £13K less than I paid at 9 months old. I sold it to an independent dealer for £11K less than I had paid new. So much for slow depreciation !!! I truly hope that your car is faultless during your ownership as the experience I had with the car, the supplying dealer and Porsche UK means that I will keep clear of Porsches from now on.
Sometimes you have to go with your heart and not your head and I think you went with your heart on this purchase. You made the right choice. As for me,if I had £60,000 to buy a car I would be looking at a really nice second hand Range Rover.
That's a tough one... we spent a lot of time looking and thinking about that very same dilemma...Tts or Ttrs. It came down to two factors... a certain UA-cam channel called "Petrol Ped" and our need for three pedals! We became the very proud owners of a brand new 2017 black edition Tts. We love it! haven't regretted it, it is a fantastic car! 👍
Boxster or Cayman GTS for me, but it would need to be the 6 pot. Great choice though. IAM masters? How is that going? Are you going to do a video on that? I have my IAM test in 3 weeks, hoping for a F1rst.
I somewhat followed your extensive search for a new car, it also helped to shape my own personal decision to buy the Porsche Cayman as I did not want a convertible, I just wanted a modern classic analog Porsche that will age with me down the line. I opted for the 986.2 as most cars appeared too modern, fast and expensive. The sound and soul of the flat six or four are distinctive so I agree with your choice of the flat four GTS, the Audi is too contemporary for my liking but hats off to the 5 cylinders TT RS.
A cracking great video! I love the sound of this TTRS, but I’m hearing, I believe, solely the audio that your mic inside the car pics up, which would include any synthesised sound. It seems that the sound in your clips of the car tearing past the camera on the roadside, have the sound from your interior mic, which is not helpful, if true, because it would mask how it actually sounds from outside and in those clips from an external camera, that’s when I would expect to hear that outside, driveby sound. That aside, you did a wonderful job of this review, and I am really enjoying your reviews across the board. I have had a 2017 718 Boxster S, and loved it. It was a 10/10 car, and a pure sports car. I sold it because I had moved overseas, ish. Now I have a 2021 Audi S3, which I will say, is fairly close in all measures of performance to that Boxster S, but a little more refined, and a little bit less sharp. I keep seeing TT’s around at the moment, and miss my Boxster so you can see why this video speaks to me. On Audi engine choice - before buying my S3, I drove an RSQ3. I chose not to get that, in favour of the S3, primarily because I wanted to zip away from 0 with just a light touch of the accelerator pedal, and minimal turbo lag. That 5 cylinder engine in (at least) Q3 guise was WAY more laggy than the 310hp 4cyl engine in the S3. That massively lower lag is what swung me for the 4 pot. Would it not be the same story with TTRS vs TTS?
I just want to say congrats for this video! It was amazing and i enjoyed it very much! I hadnt understood that you are losing all the extra space of the coupe by skipping into the roadster, until you said it. In this case I would pock the Porsche too. But in general, I am more into coupes than in roadsters, and in this case i Would go for the TT.
Hi, this is the second or third vid of your i have watched (i think the road trip to Cornwall somewhere south is my favourite so far. Did your dog take acting lessons) enjoying the content, thanks. In this vid, what was the road you found fantastic to drive? Keep up the good work.
Hello Mr P, hope all is well. I think the Porsche is great and the TT, but i went for an Exige S2.. Totally raw driving and its great. And yet again Mr P, another great vid, If I could I would pick the Porsche
£60,000 is a lot of money and if one had to spend it all…….mid engine sports car any day. Like you said, top speed power isn’t everything when using the car on the public highway, I’ll let you be the judge which car is more user friendly on the roads….I speculate the Porsche would be the favourite. Great content Pete, always looking forward to watching more and more.
Just in the process of negotiating the purchase of a TTS. I had a TT RS on order in 2020 but that was cancelled for some reason (hint - global pandemic). Having driven the TT RS and the TTS and the 718 Boxster, I reckon the TTS is all the car I will ever need. BUT I will always have the memory of my TT RS test drive, that noise, that blistering acceleration, the salesman breaking his knuckles hanging on as I booted it down a dual carriageway (think he thought I was just an old dude who would toddle along rather than a guy who has driven performance cars for 3-decades).
I have a Audi TTS MK3 and I bores me rigid. I was thrilled at first because it replaced a 2005 Mercedes SLK350 but quickly realised the TTS isn’t a roadster, it’s a golf convertible. The noise isn’t great so that instantly struck the Boxster off my list so now I have a BMW Z4 M40i. It’s closer to the SLK350 than you can imagine but better. What’s best? Having these choices!
Cayman but I’m a bit biased 😂 Like you, i always promised myself a Porsche, should i be fortunate enough to be in a position to own one. No regrets and still loving it nearly 3 years in.
Hi Pete. I have a the tars but with the proper wheels and black gloss on the sport pack that press car looks like a pram. I have to say both are amazing cars, but i need the occasional kid in the back etc that the Porsche can’t do. But ultimately if you need a daily driver, all weather, all road , all bends bullet the t does it all. And as you said, the sad end to the sound of that engine at full can’t needs to be rejoiced before its gone for ever. Great vid as usual.
Great review however my son is a mechanic and the number of new BMW, Audi, Mercs and Range rovers that continue to front up with issues is astonishing. And the cost of the parts is just mental here in Aus. It seems the Euro badge vehicles are just not built with reliability or the quality of old. A preety poor situation when you are shelling out AUD$ 70 - 80,000 Plus in Aus.
I understand your dilemma, having owned a TT mk1 225 bhp (and didn’t take up the spoiler recall option), then went Porsche Boxster S and then Audi TT again and then back to Porsche Boxster S. I loved my TTS, but the Porsche is in a different league, I would only change it for a R8.
Hi Ped 👋🏻, with missing many of your videos due to a change in when I'm around, I didn't know Charley had gone. I must say you've made a great choice and I fully understand you being able to have 2 convertibles. I bought my own mini convertible a month or 2 ago and I love it. I still have the f56 as well. Obviously the issue was always needing space for the dogs but I suppose your arrangement with Henley means that you have a family sized car when going down to Cornwall. It's great to see you doing well for yourself.
In 2001 I picked up my TT Roadster in Denver and it was already dark. Then I had to drive 3 hours back up in the Rockies to get home. It gets so dark in the mountains and all I could think (after oh my God what fun) was that I felt I was in an airplane because of the layout of the dash. If only they would give me a manual I would buy another one immediately.
We bought a new blue TTRS convertible 2 years ago and its a fantastic car. The on going maintenance is a massive factor, servicing of a porsche is ridiculous if you take it to Porsche.
Audi is fantastic, no doubt, and that sound is just WOW. Had a couple of Audi's. BUT! Once you've had the Porsche experience you'll never go back. Had numerous of these now. Resale is always better for a Porsche too. Still think you should get the GT4. The Boxster is great for the wifey.

I have a 2018 TTRS (Stage 2 unitronic) 550bhp - honestly it kills most things on the road and I absolutely love it!! 🚀🚀
Thanks for the sub and welcome to the channel 👍
@@Jasonrm92 appreciate it Jason. Hopefully then will start my search the middle of this year
Great review. Thank you. Just got my second TTRS in 2022. I love it. Also had the Porsche Boxster and enjoyed it as well.
Would have to go with TTRS. Both great cars. All wheel drive is the deciding factor here.
Both are great cars and I get your choice mate! Although I'm not a big fan of convertibles.
Porsche all day long Ped, I have to say this video sees a difference in your confidence on screen, you’re going places fast 👍
Agree, your confidence in this is cool.
i had a choice between the mk3 TTRS and the Porsche Caymen 3.4 litre in guards red, with the 20 inch wheels, the TTRS in Sepang blue with silver wheels was just stunning ,and is the drive, and although i previously had a mk3 TTs in Tango red ,i wanted a car that i could keep forever and possibly tune and enjoy it , without a doubt the TTRS is in a class of its own , its a piece of eye candy inside and out, being able to see the engine and being able to service it, and clean it, makes a closer and more in depth ownership experience,, the TTRS is in a class of its own and that makes it special, if you buy the boxter you will probably upgrade in time to a 911.
I've always been in love with the ttrs audi
You made the right choice, 2.5 flat 4 and all. I own an RS3 and I will never throw it around corners like you can with the GTS. Power….yes the 5 cylinder loves to make it. But then again so does that forged amazing flat 4 you have. It just hasn’t been fully tapped yet.
Porsche makes some of the best turbo engines ever in my opinion.
A really super vid. Good content, no filler. Loads of nice continuity details like looking up at the plane again as you got into the car etc.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Loved your video and completely understand why you bought the Porsche. I have owned neither and was leaning toward the Cayman. (That Porsche mystique.) But, then, I drove one and discovered how loud the engine is. Just bought a 2018 TT RS. Had been looking for a TTS, but when I found a 5 cylinder, I just had to buy it. It has a nice growl, but with the engine up front, the cabin is much quieter than the Porsche. I find it to be more refined and livable. (And, I do plan to put my bike in the back!) Cheers!
👍
For all round ability cost and quality the RS wins in my opinion. Got mine for £52500., for the basic RS including the comfort and sound pack. Brilliant car. Limit the options to what you really need and represents good value against the Porsche.
2018 TTRS is what you want … pre WLTP regs & had the full sports exhaust sound … the last of the very very best ones …
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
That is a decision I would not want to make. On the one you have the aggressive lines of the TT and on the other you have the timeless lines of the Porsche. Either way I don't believe you can go wrong. Another great video Sir.
Cheers Jason 👍
People should start to understand horses are not the only quality of a sportscar - its the package (weight, chassis, steering, feel, etc..) If sportscars would be just about 0-100/0-60 then Teslas would be the best sportscars ;-) Great Vid as always! Thanks
My neighbour's Audi TT is 14 years old and would pass off as brand new whenever he valets it. I can see why they are so popular.
Has he traded in his '57 Bel Air convertible?
I’ve always wanted to get one , I couldn’t imagine buying an Audi that’s a few years old out of warranty though.
Two nice Cars to choose from! I'd go Boxster because it's a Porsche and like you it's something that I have craved and continue to do so! Enjoy
👍
Had a similar dilemma when I came to buy my TTS in 2020 over a slightly older Boxster 'S', as the practicality was what I needed. The RS is tempting, but I would have delete the fixed spoiler as I did with my 'S'.
Just bought a 2018 w/5k miles. Amazing car! Sounds incredible and I think it handles great on the road.
Nice 👌
Having had several Audis I am with you on the Porche well...just being a Porche and thats why it wins. Audis are gloried VW's and having lived through the cost and reliability nightmare of having an Audi with no Warranty I would never ever go there again. Enjoy your Porche and sleep well knowing you made the better choice for You
Vw's gloriosos 😂😂 que diras de un lamborghini entonces q pertenece al geupo vag
If you can’t afford it then just say it 😅
I haven't watched the video yet but I would imagine it's because a car that's fast in a straight line is fun for a day, a car that handles like a Porsche is fun for a lifetime.
This. Gotta be the Porsche for engagement and overall kudos
👍
The Porsche and TT are both great cars, however as I am also an owner of a two seater soft top car it depends greatly on your lifestyle.. I have another daily runabout (Dacia Duster) to do the shopping, put my bicycle/dogs in the back going to the garden centre etc. I would say the Audi TT is a better choice if it is going to be your only daily car.
£60k for me would have to be an Alpine. Also love that road in a MINI. 😁
I fully understand what you’re saying. Nice to have a choice. For me a TTRS. Porsche I think, are overpriced and overhyped. For me, it’s all about speed and practically.👍😁🤔
TT RS for me Ped, great review and not a massive advert, like the good old days 👍
Had a Mk1 3.2V6, loved it, and the sound, still miss that.
You've had 2 Porsches but can't spell Boxter (sic) mk...
Loving your new Boxster GTS, excited to see many more videos with it in the coming months!
When you leave school and get a job you can always save up for an Audi
Great episode. TT all the way! I've been driving a manual petrol Mk2 3.2l for the last 2 years and loving it! Bike fits only front wheel off. My 17 years old daughter or my wife also fit in the back for short journeys.
Cool 😎
That 5 pot is just sublime with a great sound and isn't too shabby down the road 👍👍
Lucky you to get an RS as a loaner, they always gave me a base A1 as a loaner while servicing the Q7 at the official Audi dealer
@@randomsurfer3963 We got the E-tron?, like our Q5 but electric...very quite, it was kind of unnerving...
@@thesollys9540 Electric cars can be a bit disconcerting at first without the usual feedback you get from an ICE car..
Porsche for me.
The TT is basically a hot hatch coupe, the Boxster is a proper sports car.
such a difficult question! Audi lover for many years but the boxter is a very beautiful car. And don't forget, it's a Porsche!
PP, for me the Audi TT RS would be my choice, but it's nice to have a choice of two wonderful sports cars.
Everytime you do a review of a car and open the Hatch or Boot, I always expect the two pups to pop their heads up, which always makes me smile. 🙂
Great video again, your giving Harry's Garage a run for this money with your content these days, keep it coming PP.
I truly hope that your car is faultless during your ownership as the experience I had with the car, the supplying dealer and Porsche UK means that I will keep clear of Porsches from now on.
great review, i think i would go for the boxster gts, but not practical for farming community, so in that case how about a lada niva gts 😀
What a sound!!! Great choice of road - I travel that road every day to work in my S4 Avant and the bendy bits are epic with the paddles. 👌👌👌
Fully agree that the filters have ruined the growl appeals of many cars. Great review buddy. 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi, this is the second or third vid of your i have watched (i think the road trip to Cornwall somewhere south is my favourite so far. Did your dog take acting lessons) enjoying the content, thanks.
In this vid, what was the road you found fantastic to drive?
Keep up the good work.
My dogs just love being on camera 😂
Hello Mr P, hope all is well. I think the Porsche is great and the TT, but i went for an Exige S2.. Totally raw driving and its great. And yet again Mr P, another great vid, If I could I would pick the Porsche
£60,000 is a lot of money and if one had to spend it all…….mid engine sports car any day. Like you said, top speed power isn’t everything when using the car on the public highway, I’ll let you be the judge which car is more user friendly on the roads….I speculate the Porsche would be the favourite. Great content Pete, always looking forward to watching more and more.
The practicality of the hard topped TTRS (with a nice sun roof) would do it for me.
Morning PP, these just have such a distinctive sound, lovely. 👍👍👍
LOL 😂
I have a Audi TTS MK3 and I bores me rigid. I was thrilled at first because it replaced a 2005 Mercedes SLK350 but quickly realised the TTS isn’t a roadster, it’s a golf convertible. The noise isn’t great so that instantly struck the Boxster off my list so now I have a BMW Z4 M40i. It’s closer to the SLK350 than you can imagine but better.
What’s best? Having these choices!
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I like the Red Detailing Inside the Interior
Hi Pete, you made the right choice, boxter every time.
A very useful informative and entertaining video
👍
Evening all! Hope everyone is doing well and had a lovely weekend. Friday and Saturday at Oulton Park was great.
Tt rs an amazing car I've a tt s love my car owned for 9 years never gone wrong changed front and rear disks last year original disks from new .
I currently own a MK3 tts and I love it, my next purchase will be the ttrs I just think they are iconic cars
Just bought a 2018 TTRS Daytona - is that the year where filters don’t get installed up to the noise?
In 2001 I picked up my TT Roadster in Denver and it was already dark. Then I had to drive 3 hours back up in the Rockies to get home. It gets so dark in the mountains and all I could think (after oh my God what fun) was that I felt I was in an airplane because of the layout of the dash. If only they would give me a manual I would buy another one immediately.
We bought a new blue TTRS convertible 2 years ago and its a fantastic car. The on going maintenance is a massive factor, servicing of a porsche is ridiculous if you take it to Porsche.
Great review, Pete and a very provocative question - but the answer is always Porsche
