    Yeah I was thinking just build a cammed y7 head maybe ported and Polished. Port match headers for best flow.

    Yes with y8 head you will need the y8 fuel rail and fuel injectors, my last ek I did a y8 intake swap on my y7 but I had to use the y7 injectors and rail cuz if I used the y8 it would run rich

    • @Constantuned
      @Constantuned  3 роки тому

      I'm running hondata so I can change injector sizes. I ran the y7 injectors which worked but my duty cycle got up to 91 percent which was a little to close for comfort so I switched to some z6 injectors which dropped my duty down to about 60. Just started my turbo build and now I'm running 1150cc injectors

      So I did that head swap from y7 to y8 and the full rail is from the y7 and the rpm go up and down what I need ?

      @@user-vh5lb5od8m if its getting ruel and stays running, rail and injectors are fine that sounds like an idling issue so check your intake

    Can you use the same y8 harness and y8 ecu with the y7block/y8 vetch head? Plug n play or would it need some modification still besides the extended coolant hose.

    • @Constantuned
      @Constantuned  3 роки тому

      Most connections are on the head so it would be plug n play you would just need to install a knock sensor in the block which is already threaded for it.

    question, what timing belt you used and head gasket?

    • @Constantuned
      @Constantuned  11 місяців тому +1

      Y7/y8 timing belt are the same. This particular setup was a 2 layer OEM Y8 gasket. Bumps the compression a little bit over a fel pro or aftermarket headgasket. Its considerably thinner than most. Any y8 head gasket will work though. the y7 and y8 blocks are the same. Y8 just has a spot for the knock sensor. Dont think the y7s do.

    With the iacv wiring are you sure that was the right way to wire it? All the forums Ive went thru say that the orange wire was useless and to connect yellow/black wire to the green wire and the blue/black wire to the black wire.

    • @Constantuned

      What ecu are you going to run? If you are going to do a y8 swap and use an Auto EX ecu than i would run the automatic y8 intake.

    Will this combo make the same stock horsepower at a y8?

    • @Constantuned
      @Constantuned  3 роки тому +3

      The compression ratio with this setup is 9.96:1 compared to a stock y8 which would be 9.76:1. So in theory this would make more than a y8. But its a slight difference.

      @@Constantuned thank you! I’ve been looking for a y8 everywhere but they are either hard to come by or more expensive to the point a b series would make more sense. I have a y7 block and was thinking of getting a y8 head from my buddy. If he didn’t have to swap his block cause his last one got cracked I would’ve had a complete y8.

      Yeah y8 and y7 blocks are the same minus the provision for the knock sensor and the pistons are slightly different but only will change your compression slightly.

    So I have a 99 civic ex. The previous owner did a auto to manual swap and put a d16y7 bottom on the y8 head. So my harness is for the y8 auto. I got my new y8 intake manifold and throttle body for manual and new IAC valve. I’m doing the 3 to 2 pin conversion for the IAC and I have a manual ecu I’m going to repin . That all being said. I’m throwing a code for knock sensor. The d16y7 doesn’t have a knock sensor so what do I do?

    The reason there’s coolant lines on the iacv is because the iacv reads coolant temps and tells your car how high to idle

    • @Constantuned
      @Constantuned  2 роки тому +1

      No that is not true. the iacv duty is controlled by the ecu. It uses coolant and iat sensor. the iacv only has two wires to control duty.
