That’s real nice, thank you! Yeah, That D16z6 has been in the back of my mind for a while now. I really would like to get it built up and running great
Clearly this guy got free head work. All the work they performed is standard work every machine shop does also happens to be the same work they perform on every cylinder head as well. But this guy was acting like they were performing magic tricks 🤣🤦
Overheating is such a pain in the ass. Some it I feel likes it's almost better to leave the heater core as a secondary radiator if you do encounter overheating issues. It could potentially save a head gasket job! Nonetheless, good stuff Rob, glad to see you back out in the garage getting work done!
The thermostat housing is really constrictive on the Y8 when I port the main oil feed galley at the oil pump and in the oil filter housing I also port part of the block where the water pump sets to the tube and on the other side of the head port the thermostat housing coming from the tube. Just a few mm of opening these holes up changes the flow rate dramatically.
Hell yeah man they did a great job! Wish I had that awesome of a shop around me. You should throw on a Jasma racing cam to top it off. Great investment Rob!!!
AY Bro.... Finally I've Found my Car's Issue..... it has a D16wa Engine and it starts rising up the Temperature on Highway right after 10 to 15 minutes on 3 to 4000 RPMs...
That's a horrible idea, as scotch brite will score the mating surfaces enough for catastrophic head gasket failure. This happened to Speed Academy's SR20 a year or two ago when they rebuilt the engine. They have a video showing their error and where/how it failed. You never scuff the mating surfaces for any reason whatsoever on any two pieces with metal to metal contact.
Hell yea! Awesome video definitely wanna find a shop around me that can do similar work! I have a z6 I’m rebuilding and really wanting to look into getting this done! If you don’t mind sharing about how much did all this cost?
Hey buddy I really need some help cause I ended up doing the same thing to my 94 coup I also have a turbo but I have everything together I have a y8 motor with a z6 intake and injectors with the factory harness and computer I do believe
You should have got a bowl blend and polished the combustion chambers bro otherwise that's not really going to make any dramatic difference at all as you still have the same restrictions in the stock runner's
How much did they charge you? I looks great and they have some really awesome equipment over there at advance head shop...I was a machinist and welder in the army and had the chance to work at a place called Flatland Forge in Midland TX with a lot of CNC work. (After I got out of the Army). I would LOVE to work with a shop like that or at least learn how to run it. Thanks for the video!
14:25 “This honestly serves no purpose”!??? Really? De-burring is essential to avoid the risk of having fine metallic particles floating around in the engine. Did they wash the head again after all that machining? I’m guessing not. Oh dear.
This guys really did a great job with the head. It looked brand new, a port, polish job would make it nicer.
Polish something carbon will eventually stick to. Yep sure
@@YungEagle3k racecar
@@YungEagle3k a good polish will keep the carbon off longer
Changed the dates a stole too
HOLE. LEE. FUDGE. GEL. US. AS. FUDGE. Damn that was awesome to watch. Thank you to the shop for letting you film that.
Rob you are awesome, it’s nice to see you are back again keep going I would like to see that D16z6 running again take care
That’s real nice, thank you! Yeah, That D16z6 has been in the back of my mind for a while now. I really would like to get it built up and running great
I'm glad to see this video, just picked up a y8 head from the junk yard this morning and plan to have all this done

That head gasket is very thin for the head that already looks hella rectified??

it's the small things that count
Wow! You said Thank you a lot of times. You are a truly grateful guy. Good job on the rebuild.
Hell yeah man they did a great job! Wish I had that awesome of a shop around me. You should throw on a Jasma racing cam to top it off. Great investment Rob!!!
god i remember the white crx project from years back glad yall stayed loyal with hondas only reason ive stuck around haha
Awesome video. Cylinder head looks mint!!!! Can't wait to see it fired up!
D series is a very cool budget friendly engine for track use eh, how has it held up so far? Do you feel it is fast enough as is?
Cant wait to see it all put together!
👏👏 d series!
What valves, springs, retainers you use? And how much was the complete service you had done?
Wish they were closer to Houston. Top notch!
how much was service btw
how much and how long did all this cost
i had the same question, just gonna call up Advanced Cylinder Heads
I got mine done for 200$
Engine parts cleaning pr0n. Yes, please.
Wish I had such a machine shop in my area 😢
i litterally stop doing my job to watch this video
Clean AF! How much did the whole service cost?
More than the car 🚗.
Great man good learning for my civic projekt 🎉
What was the total cost of sending the head in?
If you want that D16 to run good port and polish the head it will make a huge difference.
You should definitely do a rebuild on the z6
nice is there a recommended So Cal shop that does this too?
AY Bro.... Finally I've Found my Car's Issue..... it has a D16wa Engine and it starts rising up the Temperature on Highway right after 10 to 15 minutes on 3 to 4000 RPMs...
It’s.. it’s so beautiful.
how much does it cost bro?? and do you have to do valve adjustment after?
Hey, to forget to use a scotch break and clean the engine and marry this clean cylinder head to a clean engine
I love your videos ^_^

Cost of all this?
Samuel Bishop im trying to find out too man
About How much did the head cost you to get cleaned up and machined
Luis Casablanca probably 500 or more
Looks great! I’m assuming a valve adjustment will be coming after installing/running? If so please do a update with it! Great content, keep it coming.
Thank you! Yes, next video we install the cylinder head and the video after that we do the valve lash adjustment and fire the engine up!
How much did you pay for whole head job ? I have the same head and want the same service as yours.
How much did it cost?
thats the most important detail
Very, very, nice. What did they charge you.
Great video! I really learned a lot!
Hey buddy I really need some help cause I ended up doing the same thing to my 94 coup I also have a turbo but I have everything together I have a y8 motor with a z6 intake and injectors with the factory harness and computer I do believe
If you getting all this done why dont you go turbo build.? Or at least future proof it for such ?
Nice job 👌
This video is good for beginners
Idk I can get a pretty badass 5 angle valve job on my vgs-20 it just takes longer
You should have got a bowl blend and polished the combustion chambers bro otherwise that's not really going to make any dramatic difference at all as you still have the same restrictions in the stock runner's
Do you have dual spring balve
Did they do any before/after flow testing to show the improvements to top end that this valve job made?
Not on this particular head, no.
I wish we had this kinda shit at our shop, valve jobs are a fucking pain with our machine.
Hell yeah bro. Going to be sweet
I paid $120 to get my Saturn dohc cylinder head resurfaced. I screwed up the timing now I have to get new valve seats and new guides.
Decent channel lad
Did you checked the block for warping?
I put a straight edge on the top of the block and didn't see any obvious gaps

@@RefineMovement I guess that means it would normally be super expensive! I bet they gave you a break for advertising, though.

That’s not a micrometer. It’s a vernier calliper or gauge.

please reply. thank u :)
The vtec head
How much was this job
Anyone know what the tool at 14:26 is called? For smoothing out edges
Calvin K “Deburring tool”
I’m pretty sure that’s not a micrometer...
You’re right, vernier calipers.
That's a dial Caliper not a micrometer
Replacing the head gasket is routine maintenance on a dseries.... I resurface 5-10 a week! B-series is significantly more reliable
I would bought a b16 for the price it costs to get a head rebuilt.
He's probably trying to stay in a stock class for racing
All of this for a D series.
Take that thermostat out, or at least put a 160 in it
Should have done some upgrades to to the cam and or valve train. Even a port and polish
Eh, my goal wasn't to add any small amount of power, just trying to get reliability out of my engine
