In this video i will do a Power steering fluid flush, without pump in less than 10 minuets
Flushing power steering fluid and eliminate power steering pump noise. this video will show you complete power steering flush of the system step by step...
Procedure
..Jack the car up to make the job easy and open the hood, locate the power steering reservoir and open the cap, suck the old fluid out by oil suction pump as I did or use Turkey baster
..Remove the hoses claps of the reservoir hoses and take it out to clean it with carb cleaner (if necessary)
Taking the old fluid out with a turky baster and add new fluid and steer the wheel lock to lock
it will suction new fluid from resivior and discharge old fluid from outlet(small hose) that one goes in to the cola bottl
...Do this method few times, till you see new fluid comes out from the small diameter hose,
...Connect the discharge hose to the reservoir and add fluid if necessary
... Turn the engine on and turn the wheel lock to lock to come out any bubble in the system(if there is any) and add fluid if necessary
...Lower the jack and Take the car for a 10 minutes drive - Авто та транспорт

This video just saved my ass. Wife has been putting coolant in the power steering reservoir.🤬 and I have no pump or vacuum. With no money😂... didn't even think of this. Your brilliant! My man, thank you!
lol thanks man, here is the detailed video ua-cam.com/video/jHoFcAlGs0I/v-deo.html
I guess the steering wheel symbol or actual “POWER STEERING FLUID” label must have been a mistake when making the car to you?
Damn thing is too dirty to read I guess, plus no steering wheel symbol. And what were you trying to say at the end?
@@bobbyhandley5581 as in the thing has a symbol on it & words
@@cslack813 do you know what your talking about lmao reread your first comment and tell me if the end makes sense..
Pfft. My pump auto flushes the oil slowly every couple months 😏
Lmaooooooo someone responding to this comment seriously in a about 3…2….1
My crankcase does the same thing. Replace filter every 3k miles, oil hasn't been in there for 1000.
@@heytasker you’ll never have an oil related failure. New oil all the time
Hahaha
@@Sharrieff93 I'm still waiting for it lol
Looks like he used the correct fluid. A bunch of Toyotas don't use power steering fluid rather transmission fluid.
Pretty much any Toyota built after 2000 uses power steering fluid
what fluid did he use? ive never replaced power steering fluid and im trying to figure out what fluid i need to use on my 2010 Lexus ES 350
@@hyypersonicautomatic transmission fluid is what he used for steering
@@stillhere7193you can use either or, at the end of the day they’re both hydraulic fluid, atf is just dyed amber/red
@@freepalestina48Noooo, you can definitely use PS fluid for pumps requiring ATF, but not the other way around. The additive and chemical packages on the different fluids are entirely different. You’ll deteriorate the pump seals and lines over time, and possible the pump gears itself.
Use EXACTLY what your car’s manual states. And always remember, ATF is NOT backwards compatible for power steering, but PS fluid is.
On my 2009 Honda CRV (I bought it new in 2009), I had a soft humming noise from the Power Steering pump. The car had 105,000 miles, and I flushed the PS system similar to what’s shown here, and the soft humming noise disappeared. It took about 1 1/2 hours to do. It took 2 of us and I used Honda PS fluid, 8 bottles. You keep flushing till the fluid comes out clean. Thanks …Jim
PS: No aftermarket PS fluid, nor automatic transmission fluid either. If you use any of these fluids on a Honda, you might as well not do it. Eventually you will replace the PS pump. My car now has about 130,000 miles and the PS pump is working perfectly, and with no noise.
Yes, people seem to not realize that Honda/Acura specifically designs their PS pumps and seals uniquely. You’ll see the good PS fluid bottles always stating what make car they are for. Sometimes, you’ll find that it will tell you if the fluid is FOR or NOT FOR Honda/Acura power steering.
However, it depends on the car. Most universal Asian PS fluids are okay. Some Honda/Acura PS fluid is made for Honda’s up to 2005, and there is supposedly a newer formula for cars 2007+, which is backwards compatible, but not the other way around (older fluid on newer cars).
Brake cleaner tends to dry plastic reservoirs and leads to weakening the plastic. I used purple degreaser and boiling hot water and spray the degreaser from the suction outlet and release the garbage at the bottom. Once every 30,000 miles is sufficient to keep your pump and rack and pinion healthy.
Water is the one I was told by my dad and when he show me I was shock how clean and new the reservoir look 👀
Hey, I HAVE to comment on this one. If you choose to do it this way and use a solvent, like brakleen, to clean out the inside of the reservoir, make sure the solvent you sprayed inside is completely dry and empty before refilling. If not, the remaining solvent can "thin out" your power steering fluid and cause a premature failure.
Not just that but if the brakleen is the OG chlorinated one, don't use it on plastics. Another good solvent for doing the cleaning is denatured alcohol; but as you previously stated, make sure the container is dry.
Excellent job, love it.
Thanks
Will take more than ten minutes for sure. Takes ten minutes just to get the tools out.
I just did this to my Lexus, and the power steering noise is totally gone. Thank you.
My hands don’t work very well these days. I’d love to be able to do that myself. My 2004 Tundra v8 been leaking and squeaking for few years now. She only has 281,000 miles on her. Best truck ever.
Hey chris where ya located
I did it in the same way on my Jetta 6 2012, but I also started the engine for a few seconds to activate the steering pump and change the oil there too
If the pump is in series with the lines at the reservoir then the pump is getting flushed the way he demonstrates.
I do it a similar way in my old 2003 Honda Odyssey. I hook up the return line using a brass barb coupling and two clamps to a long clear hose (so I can see it) and it empties into a container on the ground, whilst I get a 2nd person to start the car and turn the wheel for me, I already opened like 4 bottles of Honda PS fluid into one larger bottle for speed, they turn it on and start moving the wheel from lock to lock while I feed the reservoir. You have to be fast, that pump works at some serious pressure, you can go empty on the reservoir real fast, when I yell STOP they turn the car off. Just another way to do it.
Is the power steering system as sensitive about air bubbles as brake fluid is?
@@selwyn13 No, not at all. It's a small system compared to the brake system. In my case, the Odyssey takes only 2 or 3 bottles of that Honda PS fluid. I thought it would take more. While you're doing it this way, if you accidentally let the reservoir go dry because the pump pumps so fast, it'll start to squeal because it's sucking in air but as soon as you put fluid back in it sucks it right up and the air is ejected from the system.
So how do u identify which hose is the input and output line?
Just did my moms Toyota and it was weird to me that Toyota uses transmission fluid for the power steering.
They're really the same thing - hydraulic fluid with detergents. Just don't put power steering fluid into the transmission.
Toyota is not the only one. Ford uses mercon v for a lot of power steering fluids and other manufacturers use atf too.
@@HSS712So not really the same thing 😆
Auto repair place says I have power steering
leak, however, I see no loss of fluid in steering container
If I flush my power steering fluid - and still have a leak to repair. Will they have to flush again with the replacement of pump, etc.??
Thanks Sandy
I'm saving this video 👍

Done this way a few times. Simple...
What about electro- hydraulic reservoirs with only one tube attached to it?

If there is a filter in reservoir, CHANGE IT! It's cheap. You have to change it just like any other filter.
You have to buy a new reservoir. The screen in the reservoir is not replaceable. I dont know any brand that has a replaceable power steering fluid filter🤦♂️
@@matthewmorrone883 I meant that you have to change reservoir ;)
In some instances, I agree! It can be easily cleaned from the suction hose end….

Just use an old soap or shampoo bottle pump. Every oil change pump out the reservoir and refill it. Much easier and it will keep the fluid fresh.

I may need a new reservoir and high pressure line due to age (2007) and obvious lack of routine cleaning.
Love that broken ‘new’ looking engine mount
Even new ones can do that, OEM included. Annoying? Absolutely.
Thank you! 😊
Welcome!
I'm no pro, I just work on my cars but i must ask, Was the new fluid going into the coke bottle? You put it on the hose leading away from the reservoir as opposed to leading to the reservoir, the return line..i would think the return line would be best place right?

Did engine run when you do flush?
This service is 70 bucks at my shop. I avoid selling it on older cars that have never had the fluid exchanged. It ends up making things worse half the time. If you change the fluid regularly it does prolong the life of the pump and rack tho. Good vid anyways.
In your experience how long is the life of a rack ?
Nice, next video replacing the engine mount. She looked broken.

Question ..if you remove the hose dont u create air bubbles? Why not not rem9ve the hose and do it w su ctioning instead of removing hose?
