I'm not gonna lie I really love the background music
Great job, clear and calm explanation without disturbing background music !
Wow, thanks so much 👍🏼
I like the clarity of his delivery
Appreciate that
Nice! I’ll need to watch this again since I’m a “newby” when it comes to this particular flush job. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome
Am not disappointed watching any of your videos sir.. The video you made on how to change ATF and filter on civic is still the best.. Nice work
Thanks so much
Thanks for your time! I have a 2016 civic, but you’re videos help me get the best understanding of what I need to do
I appreciate your comment and glad I could help👍🏼, hopefully I gain a subscriber
This is great. I'm hopping to get the courage to work on my own car to save money, have a good running car, and gain knowledge. Videos like yours help a lot.
THANK YOU.
You can do it!
Thank you for teaching this to us. my power steering is making some squeky noise so people in forum suggested me to change the fluid. Now i know how.
Glad it helped, appreciate your comment
Hey very informative video. I remember doing this in auto school and using a machine. This is a totally different approach to that and very DIY friendly. Thanks a lot!
Appreciate your comment
My go to videos for my 8th gen civic..
Incredible thank you so much for this! I’ve never changed the fluid and was surprised at the “whine” I was hearing thought it was the transmission. Literally perfect 👍
You’re welcome, Thanks for commenting
@@dannysdiygarage How much power steering fluid roughly did you use to flush the system in this video ?
3 of those per vehicle,
Thank you for making this
very nice and calm explanation. Ill be flushing my fluid this week end using this video, thank you
Good luck, appreciate the comment
Danny that was the easiest and best way I've seen to change the power steering fluid. You ought to patten this, this makes life a lot easier. Thank you so much for all of your videos. I could never have changed the a/c expansion valve if it wasn't for your video on how to do it, a lot of work but you explained and showed me how to do it, and with great success I did it and now I have 40 degree air coming out of my vents. God Bless.
I appreciate you, thanks so much
Patten?
Subscribed! Thanks for the clear camera angles and concise explanations without ramblings like other videos. Quality shines through!
Thank you, appreciate the feedback
Everything under the hood looks so clean!
It’s well taken care of 👍🏼
This is the most technically sound process among all the ones I've seen. Thanks
You’re welcome and good luck, thanks for commenting and hopefully you subscribed
Great video Danny, thank you for posting
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate you watching
I wish I could do this on one of my family members cars. Or my own. But we don't have traditional power steering. PS is always a fluid people forget.
Thank You so much! Simple clear easy to follow directions. Very Happy with results.
Dealer wanted $167 to Flush and Fill, cost me less than $35 for 3 bottles fluid 4' of 3/8" ID clear tubing and a 3/8" Brass Barbed fitting.
Awesome, thank you for letting me know it worked.
And do they really fully flush 🤔🤔🤔
Great video man, very helpful... good editing and everything... thank you! I subscribed.
Appreciate you
Nice presentation its loud and clear, the garage it’s clean too well keep up the good work ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! 👍
Really helped me out, thanks Danny 🙏
Glad to hear it! Appreciate you commenting
I have a civic 2009 since 2020 and I’ve been working on it thanks to your videos very detailed and the right information thank you a lot!
Appreciate you sharing this, glad my videos helped, thanks for your support
Smart💡and interesting way of doing things. Thank-you, Danny! 😊
Appreciate your comment
Beautiful video and very helpful. The PS fluid in my daughter's 2009 Civic was filthy and a garage recommended a flush which would have cost Lord knows how much. I bought a 3-pack of fluid on Amazon, the tubing and fittings that you recommended, drilled a couple of holes in the lid of an empty vinegar bottle to catch the fluid (my rig was not near as well made as yours but it got the job done), and followed your steps from there. It was a quick and easy process, and it was very fulfilling to see all that dirty fluid come out and see the clean stuff in the reservoir. Thanks to videos like yours I'm able to keep the Honda running like a champ while saving a ton of $$. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate your gratitude ❤️
Very well explained step by step. Cheers
Appreciate your support
Your explanation really help me to understand how can I do it by myself
I appreciate your patience to explain during the whole video,
Thank you so much, grettings from México
Hello from California, hopefully you joined the ride, great to hear from you
Clear, concise and very helpful video. Thank you
I appreciate your comment, thank you
Awesome video great tutorial
I didn't have a syringe, but had a spare turkey baster that came in handy. I didn't expect to, but my steering actually feels liberated!
Glad to see that turkey baster finally got some use.
Thank you! It worked wonderfully. Great teacher.
Appreciate it!
Thanks to you, I just flushed my power steering reservoir !!!! very easy and buck saving $$$$!!!!!
Nice job!❤️
Gratitude brother for all information.
My pleasure
Excellent video. This seems better than the turkey baster method. And the used power steering fluid will be a great addition to my pantry!
Appreciate it, if you more used fluid for your pantry, I’ll give you mine 👍🏼
Superb methods.
Keep it up.
Thanks.
thanks for the comment
Nice video love the vibe
Its like Jazz night in the shop!
This is the only video Ive seen where the music was not too loud
Sometimes I get it right and other times I screw up
Excellent video. I wish I knew it was this easy several years ago. Just flush a 2007 Accord that had very dark fluid due to minimal changes. It needed 5.5 bottles of Honda Power Steering Fluid ( they each hold 12fl oz) to get it to a pale brown color. That was good enough for me. Reminder Hondas are very sensitive to particular fluids, therefore only use Power Steering Fluid by Honda!
Thanks and appreciate the great information you added to help others
They're mostly just sensitive to transmission fluids, Lubeguard Synthetic Honda Power Steering Fluid is way better than the basic OEM Honda stuff.
SUPERB VIDEO!!! I’ve watched over a dozen videos on this procedure and yours is the best by far!! Very nice background music; not too overwhelming and loud. Just wondering if you know why most videos recommend only genuine Honda fluid and not to use the other brands that claim will work for Honda cars?
I’m sure other brands work fine, for the difference in price, I’m just not willing to risk it, hope that helps
The squirt bottle top was great!
Thanks for the input, 👍🏼
Great video! Just subscribed! Where did you get your nifty blue suction at? Thanks again!!!
This is about 10 years old, but Amazon has these link below or harbor freight has them also, probably a lot cheaper Powerbuilt 648756 Suction Gun a.co/d/8rbhFAo
In all your videos the engines are so clean..., would you make a video some day on how to clean it?
My 2005 Civic has 194,000 miles and the fluid may be original. The steering was a little hard so for three bottles of fluid and 40 minutes of labor, I changed the fluid. The steering is definitely lighter so this was overdue. I used aviation grade alum tubing which snugly fit into the return line. Position the hose clamp and the old stuff came out easily. Instead of buying a pump, an old squirt bottle of Dial soap😁 evacuated the system. Thx Danny.
Thanks for sharing Barry 👍🏼
Great video, Thank you. The only part I would have liked to see added is cleaning the screen in the reservoir, especially for older Hondas.
Great addition
Cleaning the screen is risky, you don't wanna damage it in any way.
How many bottles did you wind up using?
Thank you for the details and good camera angles. It amazes me how many videos there are out there to work on cars that skip steps or don't provide details.
2 bottles, yeah it’s really hard to think of every detail and get good angles that show what you’re doing and still get the job done in a reasonable amount of time, lots to learn, thanks for the compliment
Thank you for this very informative video. You took yhe time to explain everything in a concise manner that a DIYer would understand. I would like your opinion about water pumps. I have a 2008 Civic and it's almost 200K miles and the water pump is original. There are no leaks and I have been changing the coolant on a regular annual basis. In your opinion, should I change the water pump now or wait until it starts showing leaks. I have been quoted $700+ to replace and I heard that Civic's water pump is very difficult to DIY. I appreciate your input. Thank you.
I would wait, one of my civics has 165 k so a diy coolant pump video could be in my future also
Hey Danny,
The reason for securing the hose onto the lid was so that the hose would not move around? Thank you for the amazing tutorial.
Appreciate your comment
Thanks Dany
Appreciate you watching
Awesome video, it’s satisfying to see the progress of the old fluid being pushed out by the new fluid. Looking to flush my 08 Honda Pilot power steering fluid, how many of the 12oz bottles did you end up using?
Just over 2 bottles, so plan on purchasing 3 per vehicle
@@dannysdiygarage thank you
Excelente video, gracias por compartir.
Cuántas botellas de líquido se usaron para el sistema?
2 bottles
Great video danny. How many power steering bottles did you use?
2
@@dannysdiygarage awesome thanks Danny Great videos!
Hi Danny thank you so much for your videos, I really enjoy them and find them very thorough.
Question: when you put tge whole thing back into place, how do you do it without making a mess?
Rags, but it’s actually not that messy
Thank you Danny@@dannysdiygarage
@9:33 next step missing ... it should go into how you disconnect the kinked hose from the reservoir and reconnect the return line to it before you top off the reservoir, which you did but it wasn't shown. Other than that, it was a great video! Awesome angles and that camera mount is nice and steady. It felt like I was looking over your shoulder with those over head shots! OMG, I just knew that bottle was gonna do a 'Spindle Top' oil geyser, but it stopped just in time! I'll set mine in a 'overflow' pan though, I know me.
Warren, thanks for watching this video so closely and adding feedback. “❤️ I Love It❤️” Great that you learned something and enjoyed watching, good luck on your PS Flush 👍🏼
Thank you for the video
you're welcome
Great video!
Appreciate that
Thanks Danny for the great tutorial! After replacing my power steering pump I get some whining when I accelerating to high rpm. I think I still have air since I see tiny bubbles in my reservoir. but I'm not sure
Hopefully the air will work itself out
@@dannysdiygarageGot my Power Steering smooth after the flush :). My car still whines, but only when I revv up the RPM. I bought an aftermarket Steering Pump pre installed with the Pulley,... So Could it be the Pulley making the noise?? Appreciate the Help!
It’s possible your o’rings are leaking, watch this video Honda Civic Oil Leak, Power Steering noisy

Danny, I've seen both your videos on power steering flush & brake bleed process, and I love both of them.
Question: I want to buy two jar containers , one for the POWER STEERING FLUSH MACHINE & one for doing my brake bleeds, what ounce container size would be needed for collecting the fluids
For these two jobs?
Troy, I appreciate you watching my videos, as far as the "Power Steering Flush Machine" the container I used was a Mayonnaise jar, as you could see it's a little lacking on the amount of fluid it can handle, I would double that, however for the brake fluid the Mayonnaise jar size is good.
Thanks for the video
You’re welcome, thanks for commenting 👍🏼
It would be nice to see your clean up process - disconnecting the flush machine and reconnecting the hose to pump reservoir to see what process you followed to keep fluid from getting everywhere when cleaning up and reconnecting.
Great feedback, thanks I’ll make note of this
excellent video. I think I would turn the backround music down just a touch, but other than that it was very informative and straight to the point.
Thank you
Thanks man !
Appreciate your comment 👍🏼
Thank you for the video. Thinking. Should I do this when the engine is not hot. Maybe the power steering fluid will burn the PVC hose if still hot.
It doesn’t matter, warm fluid will flow better, but it really shouldn’t matter unless you live in a cold or freezing climate, I’m in California.
Simple, effective and practical something the average Joe could do.
That’s my goal, to help others
You could also try using a pump (similar to a liquid soap bottle) with tubing and manually drain the fluid into an empty container.
Thanks for adding
How many bottles of PS fluid did you end up using? Thanks for the awesome videos, helped me on a few jobs now on my civic 👌
2 bottles will do it
@@dannysdiygarage thank you brother
Hello Danny, after the fluid changes to clear and you have topped off the PS reservoir, how did you remove the return tubing that was filled with PS fluid? and not make a mess? I have a 2010 Accord V6 that I would like to do this service on myself. This looks pretty straight forward for a DIY'er. Thankyou!
I used rags to catch any fluid that wasn’t manageable
Great vid!
appreciate your comment
Owh step 1 must turn on the engine, after that just turn left and right steering only. Finally turn on the engine.I must try Mr Danny way.Tq sir Danny
Good luck❤
Great video
Thanks, Appreciate you
Great video. Why not turn the steering wheel back and forth manually the entire time and skip turning the vehicle on at all to prevent any damage to the motor?
The pump needs to turn to get the fluid out, you could remove the belt and turn it by hand if you’re worried about it, or just skip that step and leave that tiny bit of old fluid in there
Most definitely
Great video Sir, Question is your O2 Sensor aftermarket or Oem , If Aftermarket what brand works with honda civic 2007 , Oem are pricey , thks
Mine is OEM, I don’t have that answer
In my opinion, aftermarkets from a well-known brand are fine. For Honda Civic 2007 LX, Denso 234-4350 is the perfect one. It’s cheaper than OEM a lot but pretty much same quality without Honda Logo.
Very good one.
Appreciate that👍🏼
A hand operated vacuum pump connected to the return tube is an easy method to remove most of the old fluid from the system without operating the pump.
Great tip!
Hi bro, liked. subsribed. how much new fluid I must get to do this. Is 2 liters enough?
2 bottles minimum will do it, I used 3
Hello Danny, an other great video. Can you please tell me where the power steering reservoir is located on my 2015 Honda civic? Not sure if I’m blind but I can’t find it 🤷♂️
sorry this comment got away from me, however I do not have that answer, what did you find out?
@@dannysdiygarage lol no problem. Well apparently some of these Hondas have an internal electrical power steering which doesn’t need fluid replacement. I need to investigate a little more about this. I saw this comment online in a forum.
Need to do this on my Acura TL
This is easy to do, good luck and let me know how it goes, next get those valves adjusted 👍🏼
At the end, in power steering flush machine, what was second hole for?
Vent, as the fluid goes in the air needs to come out
I am in the process of getting the o ring replaced. How many bottles of Power steering i need to flush the whole system? Also can I just flush it without starting the car? TIA
2 bottles should do it, yes follow the video
Would you recommend changing the power steering reservoir with the red cap on any set interval? Wondering if power steering fluid were initially neglected, if it would cause buildup of sediment or something in the reservoir that can affect new fluid when flushed with your method?
That’s a great point, definitely replace it if it looks ugly 👍🏼
@@dannysdiygarageif you get some power steering fluid over on the belt what would be a good way to clean it off ? Just wipe it off or need to use a cleaner ?
@@vandiyplant921 absolutely 👍🏼 keep belts clean
Awesome 👍👍👍
Thanks 🤗
do you have suction tool for different fluid types? or do you just use one for everything?
I use the same one for everything except brake fluid, brake fluid has its own
You don't need to get all the fancy hose to drain the off the power steering fluid from the return hose. Just use a 1L soft drink bottle and secured it nicely.
Correct
Dan do you have a video on how to change the "O" rings on the power steering pump? Sure hope so my O ring is leaking
I don't, but I think mine are also leaking, I just don't know when I'll get to that.
@@dannysdiygarage Thanks Danny for getting back with me so quickly. I found other videos on youtube that show how to change the "O" rings, seems easy to do. I ordered the rings and will arrive tomorrow, so I'll probably install them on Friday, depending on what time they arrive. Thanks again.
Let me know how the job goes
I dont have that same container with a red cap where would my power steering fluid reservoir be
Danny, what ounce is your mayonnaise jar?
Would a 30 or 42 oz jar be sufficient??
Larger the better,
should the drain jar (your ps flush machine) be level with or below the PS reservoir?
Doesn’t matter
If you have 150k miles on a 2010 civic and the return hose has never been removed. Do you need to be careful - maybe rub some power steering fluid on the hose before removing the hose clamp and removing the hose from power steering fluid reservoir?
Or would it be ok to remove the clamp and hose without conditioning it first?
Twist and pull, yes anything you you can do to make it easier is smart
Is the return line the thicker or the thinner hose? Thank you.
Same size 3/8
What drill bit did you use to screw the holes into the lid
I don’t remember, I think I used a stepper bit, these have many different sizes, and just drilled till it fit
Can you technically use the turkey baster method 3x and have all new fluid?
Not exactly, it will be better than not doing it at all
Do you know if my 08 manual has gear box fluid, the corolla does. Not sure about the civic
are you asking if your 08 Civic Power Steering has a gear box ? if so no, it has a rack just like the one in this video.
Reservoir nipple was shut via clear tubing ( time: 5:03 ) after return hose was disconnected. Missing from instructions is reconnect of return hose to reservoir. How was that done without introducing air back into system ?
its the return hose, the little bit of air that enters will be easily removed automatically in the reservoir
Hello! I have only have ramps and not stands, can I donor by just turning on the engine a few times and not turning the steering wheel?
Drive onto two pieces of carpet or something that will let the wheels turn easier, hopefully this makes sense
Quick question why do you need two holes in the cap of the jar .... what's the second hole for ?
2nd hole, It’s a vent
Curious why you started the engine, then just turned the wheel and then started the engine again?
Do they do diff things?
Starting the engine primes the pump with new fluid, it’s high pressure so only do this for a few seconds, the engine needs to be off during the turning of the wheel, if the engine is on when turning the wheel the pressure will be way to high and drain the reservoir in 3 seconds, hopefully this answers your concerns 👍🏼
Hey man l would like to know much fluid l need to complete this project on my civic
3 bottles
Should be in the description
That’s the video I’ve been always looking for. However, the item in your link is currently unavailable as of now.
These should work also JoyTube Hose barb Thru-Bulk Bulkhead Fittings 3/8" Union Adapter Plastic Fittings for Aquarium Water/Fuel/Air (Pack of 6)
@@dannysdiygarage Thank you. I found it.
Cameras should be closer to the hose to see the transformation of dirty fluid to the new fluid. And you forgot to bleed the system for residual air. Lastly there is hot and cold fluid fill.
Appreciate your feedback
There’s no need to bleed, if you don’t run the system dry, new fluid in and old out👍🏼
Does my vehicle need to be raised? I want to do this but I don’t have a jack.
It doesn’t have to be, it make turning the steering wheel a whole lot easier when the wheels are off the ground
