My favorite line in "Ash Versus Evil Dead" was when Ash was back in the cabin and was trying to remember where the book was, and said "Was it on the table (Evil Dead 2), or in the basement when I went to find Sc--- (Evil Dead 1)" and gets cut off. Great meta humor.
Forgot to mention, there’s a fan edit that edits all three movies in to one and addresses a lot of the continuity issues and tries to make it one movie. Would be awesome to do a video review on it.
Anyone can make them work together all you have to do is cut out the recaps and ending of each film and link them together and they play fine as a whole. If you cut the Recap of 2 and start the movie right when it picks up from the ending of part 1 with Ash being attacked by the force and pushed through the woods you can watch them as one movie easily.

With the new Evil Dead coming out next year called Evil Dead Rise the Remake is pretty much a one-off especially if the new one gets even more love because then it will start a new Series of its own.
There is an ultimate cut fan edit online that stitches the three movies together perfectly. You know that flip Bruce does when auditioning that he used when fighting his possessed hand in Evil Dead 2? You can now recreate that same flip in DUSK, with Marathon 2 esque twin broomsticks to boot!
Army of Darkness is secretly the perfect Dungeons and Dragons movie. Ash spends the whole time acting like a player character, messing up at every turn with seemingly brazen disregard for the consequences.
I always wondered why these little Easter eggs were in the evil dead movies I'm so glad someone touched on the subject no one I know would have ever thought that deeply into this , I love cinemassacre please keep an coming and I'll keep watching !!
Evil Dead II is a classic! My best friend and I used to rent it from our local Blockbuster every weekend for like 2-3 years. To this day, when my wife wakes me, I say “ who has awakened me from my slumber. “
I thought it was truly the end of Monster Madness in 2016...I'm glad I was wrong. Thanks so much, James, for bringing it back...and changing it up as always.
Great sound editing. Super pumped. Our whole family will be watching this every night in October. We have been huge horror film lovers for years because of cinemassacre. And old school gamers. Watching now in our video game movie collection room. With our signed James Rolfe Cinemassacre dvd from years ago!
The Evil Dead series is what inspired me to make home movies as a kid (Your movies and Sam Rami's Spiderman series as well) The fact that these were made with such a small budget and that it blended genres, Bruce Campbell really brought out that classic lead man persona with his charisma, one-liners, and stage presence.
I’m so Happy!! I found the Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 on Hulu Showtime and right as I finish them I find you’ve dropped this!! So awesome. James I hope you make your own indie Horror Film one day. Your love for Universal Horror would translate amazingly into picture.
No I don't believe so for whatever reason He was removed from Kombat Pack 1 some issues happened or whatever I don't know the full details so Ash got replaced with the Joker because I guess He was closer to being finished.
He better have more one liners than Johnny Cage, or I riot... alone.. and possibly flip a coffee table and immediately pick it up.. and blame the dog when the lady gets home and notices a scuff.
Saw evil dead 2 back in 91 as a eleven year old. Love the scene when he gets ready to battle in the shed, hooking the chainsaw to his hand. Turning his double barrel into a sawed-off........groovy!!
The series was so damn good. It hit a perfect balance of comedy and horror, had top notch character development and consistently kept things interesting. Bruce Campbell's become a great actor, too.
I'm glad you said that tidbit about the Xena and Hercules connection it was always one of my favorite shows and I had no idea they were related but looking back it does seem very similar in some ways
For my 10th birthday I went to spend the weekend with my older cousin. It was 1999 and he took me to a 99 cent movie rental place and told me to pick out 5 horror movies that I had never seen. Easy, my 10 year old self had written off horror as a genre that I could watch after walking in on Candyman and later A Nightmare on Elm Street. I picked Hellraiser, Event Horizon, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness. I had no idea that AoD was the 3rd movie in the series. I just figured that if I was going to be tortured with horror movies all weekend, I could at least see something cool like a guy with a chainsaw in medieval times. What a terribly awesome weekend. Thanks Rodney for making me face my fears and sparking a love for horror movies.

I had no idea they made a series and then I was looking through Netflix or Google play I can't remember which one and they had it on there. I could hardly contain my excitement and couldn't hit play fast enough. I have tried introducing these movies to my friends and they just can't understand the amazingness that is Evil Dead.
I have been waiting for monster madness for what seems like an eternity!! I've never been more excited to see a UA-cam notification in all of my life!!! ❤
Same. But instead we get Rental Reviews: Halloween Edition... :P
"That's right, shop smart. Shop S-MART. YA GOT THAT!!!!!!"
Evil Dead II is a classic! My best friend and I used to rent it from our local Blockbuster every weekend for like 2-3 years. To this day, when my wife wakes me, I say “ who has awakened me from my slumber. “
Am i the only one who is literally mouthing the words "Its Cinemassacre's Monster Madness"
I thought it was truly the end of Monster Madness in 2016...I'm glad I was wrong. Thanks so much, James, for bringing it back...and changing it up as always.
I want those orange lights hanging in the intro on the upper left and right of the release the Kraken display. Also, really enjoyed this video
Great sound editing. Super pumped. Our whole family will be watching this every night in October. We have been huge horror film lovers for years because of cinemassacre. And old school gamers. Watching now in our video game movie collection room. With our signed James Rolfe Cinemassacre dvd from years ago!
"Who the hell are you"?
"Names Ash Housewares".
The Evil Dead series is what inspired me to make home movies as a kid (Your movies and Sam Rami's Spiderman series as well)
The fact that these were made with such a small budget and that it blended genres, Bruce Campbell really brought out that classic lead man persona with his charisma, one-liners, and stage presence.
I know it's cliche but....
GROOVY!
I love the Evil Dead I can't wait for Ash Williams to become a Mortal Kombatant in Kombat Pack 2.
Same here.
Wasn't he deconfirmed? If he wasn't then i'll finallly have a reason to buy that clusterfuck of microtransaction just for him.
Yup
Holy hell I never thought I'd see Cinemassacre x Kraken! So awesome haha. Amazing episode.
Someone's in my fruit cellar. Someone with a fresh sooooul!
The re-make is one of the BEST re-makes I've EVER seen. Is most definitely my favorite remake, tied with Carpenters The Thing.
Classics :)
Saw evil dead 2 back in 91 as a eleven year old. Love the scene when he gets ready to battle in the shed, hooking the chainsaw to his hand. Turning his double barrel into a sawed-off........groovy!!
"Didn't your mother teach you how to knock?"
I'll teach you how to knock WHEN YOU FIX THIS DAMN DOOR!
Oh yeah. Its Cinemassacre Monster madnesssss!!!! Ive been watching every year since 2007. A treat every year.
I’m still disappointed Ash wasn’t added to Mortal Kombat 11.
... Yet.
If they do a kombat pack 2
That makes sense
The game is great
The series was so damn good. It hit a perfect balance of comedy and horror, had top notch character development and consistently kept things interesting. Bruce Campbell's become a great actor, too.
Evil Dead 1: Ashley
Evil Dead 2: ASH
Ash vs Evil Dead: both names are used.
My life has meaning again, Monster Madness has become a holloween theme tradition in my October. You’re the man James!
The Remake was metal as hell. The gore was fantastic
I'm glad you said that tidbit about the Xena and Hercules connection it was always one of my favorite shows and I had no idea they were related but looking back it does seem very similar in some ways
Evil Dead is the greatest franchise of all time!! I can't wait for the new game!!
Did you ever play "Fistfull of Boomstick" on ps2? I fuckin loved that game.
Evil Dead II is the greatest Horror film of all time in my opinion. From start to finish it is absolutely insane.
I’m still deeply saddened that the show has ended!
Good stuff, the audio mix was veryyyy noticeable however. Regardless, love what you guys do. Keep it up.
The Evil Dead is my favorite movie of all time
For my 10th birthday I went to spend the weekend with my older cousin.
They left out one of the best evil dead movies, My Name is Bruce.
THANK YOU for doing Monster Madness again! I was SO SAD when you shelved it. Now my October is complete! ;)
