Tips for the abyss bar buff drink, even if you’re in a solo lobby you can “disband party” to reset the “special drink” so you can get the buff you want for that run.
Couple things I've learned, putting an engi's platforms up over doretta during heartstone missions will stop the rocks from falling on it, saving ammo from not having to shoot them. Also engi + driller during rival operations you can build a little staircase up over the caretaker giving driller a perfect place to drop satchel charges on it's head to hit all 4 glowing weak points for MASSIVE DAMAGE lol
one more thing about dotty: at 4th phase you don't actually need to destroy the whole laser-shooting crystal, just its firing tip, just like you don't need to destroy a whole radiactive crystal, just its core and you can also do it with terrain-destructive weapons (Lead Storm minigun, Thunderhead autocannon, Hurricane rocket system, Bulldog revolver, ArmsKore coilgun, sticky grenade, cluster grenade, Deepcore grenade launcher, Experimental Plasma Charger with Thin Containment Unit mod or a satchel charge)
Also one of the many mistake I saw engineers made during the phase 2 of ommoran, is placing the platform too low, the rocks have aoe damage, so if the platform is too low, doretta will get damaged by the aoe. Also periodically patch the holes made by the rocks in the platform
You can stand on the side of doretta and repair her when the rocks drop. (works (real)). In any case, make sure you're not on top of doretta during the second phase, no matter if you're confident that you can destroy all the rocks. it might suddenly turn out that your teammate that just ran out of ammo did more damage than you expected, and you're getting stoned. Or your weapon overheats, you're out of ammo, frozen, whatever. I don't remember a mission where nobody died on top of her during phase 2, lol. When a driller goes above the caretaker, i think it's the only instance in the co-op nature of deep rock where it's appropriate to have a player get a resupply pod all for himself up there. The sheer speed with which the C4 takes down all 4 weakspots is just worth it. You just have to be careful to not have the appendages tear a hole below the resup. When it falls, it slides through the caretaker all the way down to the bottom of it's model, making it almost unretrievable.
One tip I have is that the resupply pods can be used to dig out stuff directly above the spot you placed it. Stuff like Aquarqs or eggs can sometimes be directly above you in the ceiling and can be pretty time consuming to get to because of how the terrain generated. You're probably gonna need to resupply anyways so put that free tunnel the pod will make to good use.
1:50 you can also bounce off any bugs that have a solid hitbox like praetorians and oppressors. Saved me from death at least once, also it's really funny to juke their attacks by just jumping over them. Whenever the twins are in their invulnerable phase I always jump on their backs. It def works and I always jump on dreads even in haz5. Im not sure if I ever jumped on a bulk detonator though, (they usually target you if you get to close) I will keep that one in mind

Another way to cancel fall damage, specifically as the scout, is to use your grappel hook, if it is attached to something, regardless of if it has started to pull you yet, you take no fall damage. I know most people know this already, especially scout mains, but it is worth repeating.
casually if a whole team is down in one spot, player1 can use iron will, revive player2 and get red sugar/resup player2 then revives player3 without taking any damage, and player3 can revive the last downed dwarf
I just started playing this game a week ago and im having a blast. Everyone ive come across are respectful and nice, and I have yet to encounter any form of toxicity. One of my friends recently moved to NY and im just super pumped to show him this game when get gets his internet set-up.

Great tips! This game really is special and there are a lot of unknown things that the game doesn't tell you and this will help new players out a lot! One thing I wanted to add was that you can freeze flying enemies to kill them instantly and if you fully light robots on fire then it kills them instantly.
For this tip 4:10, be sure to deposit the secondary objective first, as the secondary objective do not count if you extracting with secondary objective in your pocket.

1:00 also; with driller you can dig below you while falling and then grab the ledge created by digging to cancel out your fall. But this is something really hard to do and even with practice I only get it half the time, so it should be used in emergencies where you are already falling In the same vein of nitra xp not going away when calling a pod, please ask before taking two supplies or calling a supply in the first place. and dont take one if you still have over 50% ammo
The other day I started a haz 4 dreadnought solo and was joined 7 minutes in by two greenbeards. After literally two minutes of being in the game one of them called in a resupply and they BOTH double dipped, leaving me with no ammo. I just aborted the mission.

Some more stuff that breaks fall damage: Snow - Cancels fall damage completely Landing on bugs such as praetorians, oppressors, dreadnoughts, and bulk detonators (This is actually doable if the bulk is following someone else) - Cancels fall damage completely Goo (From goo sacks and the green goo that spawns on the floor) - Reduces fall damage If you're running RJ250 on engi, shoot the ground right before hitting will reset your momentum and eliminate fall damage the same way special powder does Getting grabbed midair by a stingtail (Rare but I've been saved by this before) You can also grab onto those flying bugs that you can fly around on in midair by holding E the same way you can with a zipline or pipeline when falling Lastly, gunner ziplines Disconnection protection (Reduces fall damage if you fall off a zipline) actually grants its buff permanently until you down, and reduces all fall damage until then.
The nitra/resupply relationship is important. I try to explain that during missions when i sense the host is trying to keep a nitra surplus in the end game.
One thing that would have been great to mention for fall dmg if you're playing driller, sometimes drilling straight down actually saves you from fall dmg, as you might mantle the ledge of the hole. Tbh idk what inputs even count to mantling as you can do it without holding jump by just pressing forward against a ledge.
Another fall damage tip is that you can land on large enemies like praetorians and you bounce off them like a fellow dwarfs head, stopping your fall altogether!
good video bro this helps ppl who don't necessarily have friends to wade them thru the shallows of haz3-4 to haz5. DON'T PLAY HAZARD 5 TILL YOU PLAYED 4 MAN TEAMS!!!!! Really gotta watch each other's backs to catch us slippin, only tip I would add. Stay rockin and stonin!
If your gunner and using explosive guns you can shoot down red sugar from the roof by shooting it + you can also instantly break the crystals that fire lazers at the drill if you use a explosive gun and hit the point where the lazers come out :)
Another is when you're joining a lobby, dont press any buttons. Let the host press it. And vice versa. If you're the host, ask the lobby if they're ready before pressing any buttons. We don't want any unfinished events (calling drop pod) or dying to dreadnoughts or swarms without harvesting extra nitras (by popping dreadnought eggs or picking up eggs).
yes, this is the biggest dwarf etiquette tip that EVERYONE needs to know. it's very rude to call buttons unprompted, but i don't blame a new player if they do. they probably just don't know that yet. so if they do, just politely explain to them that some people don't like that.
This is the shit that passes me off most. I constantly get greenbeards who don't communicate nor do they ready check nor do they read chat. I have literally said "don't start x" as the host and they went and started it Massive pet peeve of mine.
one tip I once saw but never see mentioned (and nobody does it sadly) is.. sink empty ammo pods. Just hack into their base a bit, it creates a hole under them. instantly and from a distance makes clear that the pod is spent and it does no longer obstruct your view/bullets
When removing lithophage spikes, try to foam as much of it as you can before you start vacuuming to get fewer infected spawns. Also start vacuuming at the hardest to reach spots, working out to the sections that are easier to retreat from so you are less likely to be overwhelmed and trapped.
deep rock truly knows how to hit our primal instincts of becoming dwarf, going into cave, shooting spiders, mining, getting drunk, and Saying ROCK AND STONE.
Be sure that if, as an engineer, you create a platform near a steeply angled wall that there's enough room for a scout to actually fit on top. Adding another platform to the edge to space it further out will create more headroom (sometimes, for really steep slopes, it may even take a third). Becoming familiar with how scout works really helps get good at platforming for them. In general I pretty much platform everything that a scout might want to mine as soon as I see it, as I generally am more limited by ammo for my guns than my platforms. The platform gun has a very good range, though you'll need to practice to account for the drop.
one tip i can give you for everyone is the quick stash technique (or whatever they call it; really) the way to use it is, when close to molly, or any ore deposits, quickly spam E then 1 then 2 (AKA: your primary and secondary weapon) . rinse and reapeat till your "rust bucket" is empty. of and congratz on your 1k subscriber! rock and stone!
I thought I wouldn’t find anything useful in this vid, but some of the fundamentals listed here were still helpful to refresh. I sometimes ignore the “r?” With randoms when they’re new and doing stupid shit like attacking a Tyrant weed after all mission objectives are met. If they fuck around for too long I’ll just hit the return button on Molly without asking. Can’t be kicked once the drop pod has been called.
I didn't know about the sending r in the chat since I only play with friends and so we're always in a voice call, also it's class specific to the scout but the grappling hook can be used to avoid fall damage if you grapple onto the ground, it's very useful if you need to get down safely from mining minerals near the roof in some of the more open areas especially during point extraction
The gunner also has a reduce fall damage thing as an option.. the wiki says its bugged and lasts until you are downed so permanent fall damage reduction with engies platforms and tunnel rat you can fall a really long way and if you are scout well i think you got fall damage immunity.
Fun fact goo also absorbs fall damage but somehow always on fungus bogs when its salvage operation i find goobomers on the celling of hole the rusty pod made that which we need to refill etc
Melee attackers can't reach you on top of the refinery in the on-site refinery missions. You can climb up the angled support arm, so only need to get that high )say, with platforms) or a gunner can put a zipline up to it (or over it). I find this is a good place for engineers to set up their turrets. Can drop down to help repair pipelines without difficulty. Keep an eye out for ranged attackers and deal with them fast, though!
4:12 Technical/speed player here, you actually do need to deposit the minerals, someone has tested (I forget who) and posted a video about it using equal counts of minerals for both tests. it may only be around 40-80 experience that your losing, but it can add up!
For console players you have to bind the chat button in the settings and it WILL be binded to double right stick on Xbox im not sure if it is the same for PlayStation Rock and Stone!
When in multiplayer you can jump on top of friends to bounce off and negate fall damage, but is kinda situational, maybe scout mining cieling ore, or a firend teying to get down from a cliff
One other tip: Don’t be afraid to join public lobbies if you are new. This community is super friendly and is more focused on having fun than winning. Don’t feel like you are burdening your team if you get downed a lot. Saving green beards(new players) and showing them the ropes is some of the most fun grey beards will have.
It now has an increased min recharge time that rivals the old 2x slayer stout bug. And slayer stout still exists in the game for basically constant berserk during a mission.
If you have access just update to the new beta build for season 4 and put the upgrades in yourself. I will clarify it’s not as powerful as the slayer stout one used to be but it’s at least available every mission consistently now AND slayer stout can still make it more powerful.
greenbeard here, I genuinely thought that people pressing 'r' was like a mistake or something. My dumbass was like "oh iguess its common to rebind chat to 't' for some reason and they keep misinputting when wanting to reload." So thanks for that tip.
Hey as engineer if you place a platform and then jump to it and place another on top of it before hitting the ground your fall damage is completely mitigated
Woah!! The tip about earning passive buffs by unlocking loadouts.. I had no idea!!! Thankyou!! Im a very green beard. Started yesterday, so this is perfect for me. Best tips vid if found! After finishing the vid I have a couple of questions. Best way to find secondary objectives like gunk seeds? I did a mission and didn't see a single seed but my teammates were finding them. Also, how do you get the currency for buff beer?
If you’re on pc I recommend the brighter objects mod! It will make the secondary objectives glow pretty bright so they are easier to spot! The beer currency is called a barley bulb and there is usually one or two per mission to be found. They look like littler red lightbulbs on a stick! Rock n stone!
You can use resupply drops to knock down eggs or big minerals in the ceiling as well as crushing enemies (or fellow dwarves) with massive damage. Lootbugs crawl toward loose gold and nitra chunks to eat them, so be sure to either keep them away from your stuff or leave some out to lure them off the ceiling and walls.
Oh yeah you can spam the jump button (or remap it to your scroll wheel to always hit clambers when you jump). It's been known DRG has some slightly temperamental jump mechanics.
In solo bosco has infinite ammo for thier machine gun. So if you are in a tight spot with no ammo and not enough nitra to call in a resupply. You can just kite the enemies around and wait for bosco to wittle them down. Be warned this may take a while.

Another fall damage tip is that you can land on large enemies like praetorians and you bounce off them like a fellow dwarfs head, stopping your fall altogether!
sure i didnt learn anything new but this was fairly captivating during dinner
I can't believe it...I have over 500 hours in DRG and consider myself a greybeard BUT I did not know of the waypoint option...amazing...
Very helpful advice I’ll be sure to show it to my greenbeard friends
Another fall damage thing is to grapple the floor as scout, if you time it right you’ll just glide to the floor
good video bro this helps ppl who don't necessarily have friends to wade them thru the shallows of haz3-4 to haz5. DON'T PLAY HAZARD 5 TILL YOU PLAYED 4 MAN TEAMS!!!!! Really gotta watch each other's backs to catch us slippin, only tip I would add. Stay rockin and stonin!
Came back forget to comment. The first tip is really good! Go on the e key like crasy and never worked really. Thank you. Good video!
5:47 perfectly timed advertisement, get that bread!
It's not just teammates that can break your fall, many larger bugs such as praetorians have the same effect.
I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD ZOOM OUT!
Big quality of life feature lol!
A personal tip from me for console gamers is turn on open chat in DRG, it's under control in the option/settings menu
If your gunner and using explosive guns you can shoot down red sugar from the roof by shooting it + you can also instantly break the crystals that fire lazers at the drill if you use a explosive gun and hit the point where the lazers come out :)
I learned the first fact the hard way after backpedaling into a ditch after 40 minutes when the drop pod was a minute away from arriving
The beers actually stack multiplicatively and therefore Red Rock increases 30% and then 30% on that 130% for a total of 169%. Nice.
I don’t think so lol
I have literally said "don't start x" as the host and they went and started it
Massive pet peeve of mine.
Does it have to be the host? I’ve always thought that anyone can press button/start event as long as everyone has agreed
@@BiggieBows1752 It doesn't have to be; it's just polite to let the host handle it.
@@BiggieBows1752if in doubt, just ping it till the host does it
one tip I once saw but never see mentioned (and nobody does it sadly) is.. sink empty ammo pods. Just hack into their base a bit, it creates a hole under them. instantly and from a distance makes clear that the pod is spent and it does no longer obstruct your view/bullets
I included that in my follow up to this video! It’s very nice when people do it!
@@brandinorules nice, just started watching that (in fact, went back to edit my comment because you mentioned it :))
Sheeesh under 1k to 5k in that little time??
Thats really impressive, deserved with this quality vid
Thank you :)
4 months later and you have my sub. Thanks a bunch.
I knew all these tips one thing I didn't know was that you can filter the server list by pressing one of the words at the top
1:33 you can fall on most enemies and it will also remove fall dmg
Only big ones*
Generally not modt in numbers haha
Lootbug is unfortunately not an enemy. Learned that the hard way
Aye look at you go!!! Not at 1k yet when you posted it. I'm watching it now and you are up to over 6k!!! Keep grinding, love the content!
When removing lithophage spikes, try to foam as much of it as you can before you start vacuuming to get fewer infected spawns. Also start vacuuming at the hardest to reach spots, working out to the sections that are easier to retreat from so you are less likely to be overwhelmed and trapped.
I have 212 hours played and still learned some new things! Rock and Stone! Great video.
Real Nice video, I'm not a green beard but I still didn't knew these tips
Check out the advanced tips version too it’s even better!
the holding e instead of spamming it will likely save my dwarf quite a few times :D and i had no idea i could place waypoints with the pointer
epically those dwarves that are playing with high ping!
deep rock truly knows how to hit our primal instincts of becoming dwarf, going into cave, shooting spiders, mining, getting drunk, and Saying ROCK AND STONE.
The platform gun has a very good range, though you'll need to practice to account for the drop.
one tip i can give you for everyone is the quick stash technique (or whatever they call it; really)
the way to use it is, when close to molly, or any ore deposits, quickly spam E then 1 then 2 (AKA: your primary and secondary weapon) . rinse and reapeat till your "rust bucket" is empty.
of and congratz on your 1k subscriber!
rock and stone!
Good tip I just figured out how to do that like a week ago! Thanks! Rock n stone to da bone!
it looks pretty stupid, but it is very efficient.
Did i hear a Rock And Stone?
i guess there are different ways to do it. Using the pickaxe works as well, so does scrolling through your weapons with the mosuewheel.
Rock n stone
Nice vid, mate. Very informative. I learned a lot. Subscribed.
You can also use hover boots to break fall damage.
Good tips! I didn't know about the hold E to grab.
Hope you get to a higher point on your youtube journey fellow dwarf, Rock and Stone!
Thanks :) rock n stone!
If you shoot the ground with scouts grappling hook it negates fall damage too.
Dude I was 70 hours into the game when I found out thanks to you that when you purchase all Armor Upgrades you get +5 Health.
Four weeks ago you were less than a thousand, look at you growing man!
Yeah it’s crazy I can’t believe how many people are watching!
i had no idea about that waypoint one thank you
Glad to help!
The gunner also has a reduce fall damage thing as an option.. the wiki says its bugged and lasts until you are downed so permanent fall damage reduction with engies platforms and tunnel rat you can fall a really long way and if you are scout well i think you got fall damage immunity.
And don't forget to "Stick together!". The single best tip for completing difficult missions.
Fun fact goo also absorbs fall damage but somehow always on fungus bogs when its salvage operation i find goobomers on the celling of hole the rusty pod made that which we need to refill etc
1:59 One you missed here is that you can also bounce off of large enemies such as Praetorians, Oppressors, Dreadnoughts, and Bulks.
In the escort mission the gunner can shoot the tips of the beamers with the minigun to stop them.
For console players you have to bind the chat button in the settings and it WILL be binded to double right stick on Xbox im not sure if it is the same for PlayStation
Rock and Stone!
Same on playstation.
When in multiplayer you can jump on top of friends to bounce off and negate fall damage, but is kinda situational, maybe scout mining cieling ore, or a firend teying to get down from a cliff
I’m already experianced but I’m still gonna watch
congrats on 1k also thanks for the tips , they have helped me go from haz 3 player to haz 4
Karl is simply mining the core of Hoxxes currently with his own pick
Advanced tips video just posted! Karl would be proud
good vid. didn't know holding e.
idk if you mentioned and i mist it, but grappling straight down with scout gives 0 fall damage
Congrats on 1k subs. Rock And Stone!
Thank you I just hit it within the hour!! Thanks to everybody for the support! Rock n stone!
@@brandinorules It was 996 when I started watching the vid c:
I remember surviving a huge fall by drilling downwards, but now I'm not so sure if I just landed on something soft
It was likely the "grabbing the edge of the pit" mechanic.
I actually didn’t know unlocking all the upgrade paths in the armour section increased health… I’ve been playing for a year…
Mans doesn’t know about the new pickaxe upgrade for season 4. You need to try it, it’s goated.
Ooh I didn’t know they were adding a new one what does it do?
It now has an increased min recharge time that rivals the old 2x slayer stout bug. And slayer stout still exists in the game for basically constant berserk during a mission.
Wait WHAT, where can i read something about it? Steam page or discord server?
Interesting I’ll test that out
Greybeard approved tips here👍🏻 ;)
Good content, good quality. GG; i will watch some others soon. +1 sub from france bro.
Lootbugs actually give a 1.5x multiplier to all gold and nitra eaten, so let em feast if you're the lootbug murderin type
Let them eat it, then kill them. Bonus ore never hurt.
I frequently play on haz 3 when solo cuz its my chill difficulty.
Any large bug like a praetorian or oppressor will stop fall damage similar to jumping on a teammates head
subscribing as a greenbeard
Speedrun to becoming a Greybeard early is playing Haz 5 but actually doing very well.
