I honestly believe that the phrase "rock and stone" carries more than 50% of the influence of this game I can't think of any other game that can link two strangers together with just 3 words
I remember I ended a mission before one particular player was finished, and they kept saying insults in the text chat, but they were all colorful in-character dwarvish insults. “Ya yellow-livered tree hugger!” and the like. Even when people are annoyed at you, they’ll often somehow be in good spirits about it.
Forgot to count all the lobbies "Meta only +75 levels only". If there is a game with level progression, there is always forms a cast of elitist meta-players who will kick you the picosecond you appear in lobby.
As much as I love helldivers 2 I feel it has yet to come even close to what the deep rock community has achieved for themselves. In my 600 hours of playing deep rock I have only ran into 1 persons who was a complete dick. But in helldivers I expect to be shot before entering the drop ship or kicked for not doing what the host deems the correct way to play I’m not saying it’s 100% of the time but at least a good 30-40% of the times
Keep in mind that it took DRG 5-6 years to culminate the community that it has now. In the case of Helldivers it has the potential to grow, flourish but also iron out a lot of unsaid etiquette when in missions. Not disagreeing with what you are saying mind, I've had my fair share of matches where things went south fast.
Yeah, contrary to many other games. High-level/veteran players in DRG are usually nice and helpful. Most dickheads tend to be greenbeards who don’t understand the game very well yet.

This guy nails it. Deep Rock Galactic has given me so many epic moments that have, for a few minutes, bonded me to a bunch of complete strangers, mere voices in my headphones. - That moment when you're all running for the drop pod in a desperate firefight, the music pounding in your ears, and you see someone go down...then the whole team works together to get to their downed comrade and make sure he gets home. - When the shells litter the ground around the refueling drop pod as your puny team tries to hold back the swarms of enemies coming at you from all sides in a salvage mission. - Taking up a sniper position as a Scout and covering the guy struggling to carry Doretta's head back to the landing zone. - Throwing up a shield to protect your buddies during as two ton dreadnought bears down on you. It's hard to pin down what makes the magic in all of these moments but it's a mix of superior gameplay, epic music, great voiceacting, visceral sound, and kind, helpful players.
im glad people are still making these types of videos. brings me back to when i wasnt able to play this game, and i just watched loads of content for it. good times
darktide has incredibly good gameplay. People point to the negative reviews but the skill ceiling in it is way higher than anything DRG will ever achieve. DRG gets a lot of mileage out of the generated caves making missions feel fresh, but it still has some holes in its gameplay fundamentals that will never have it hit the heights of Tide gameplay.
A friend of mine who have recently deceased not too long ago had recommended this game to me at first I was optimistic. Wasn’t sure if I really cared for it but I gave it a try and here I am hundreds of hours in one of the best games that I’ve ever played and I will continue to play in his memory ROCK&STONE
I personally love all phrases, and that's one of DRG brick's. LOOK, INNO PEARL HERE, I SMELL BECON, HELP ME YOU BASTARD, IS IT A BLOODY TARGET ON MY BACK OR WHAT??? THIS WAY!! WE ARE UNBREAKABLE! FOR ROCK AND STONE
God damn that ending hit me hard for some reason... im not sure why, but i genuinely teared up with how amazingly well you put it. I love this game so much - Rock and Stone, everyone!
11:24 This game really can't decide whether or not its a live service. It receives notable updates, but doesn't demand you stick with it 24/7 (especially with the season reactivation thing coming up very soon).
I'll remember getting DRG around the time Octoberfest event was live, this was my first ever purchased game at the time. I've never experienced a community that is so friendly, funny, crazy, positive and Inspirational as the DRG community. I'll hope this game legacy and community will continue to thrive for many years to come! *Rock and Stone everyone!*
I have 1,200 hours in DRG. One of my absolute favorite things about it is it's time efficiency, I love queing a mission when I need to charge my airpods or if I need a breather from my treadmill or I need my food to heat up. Ive had days where Ive finished 3 missions in under an hour and didn't sweat a drop doing so. It's a timeless game I never get sick of
the key points that kept me playing for 1400h is that DRG blends pefectly coop horde shooter, engaging platformer and traversal (sometimes modeling the terrain to your advantage), perks to tinker with for hours on end (there a no bad builds, no matter what people on the internet tell you), the possibility to mod the shit out of your lobby and still play with 4 people, all that wrapped with good humor and a good community to go along with. what is there not to like about this game?
1500h in game and i can say that no other coop game can come close to DRG. What set this game apart from other games is that it is fps but you need to think like you play chess. Also in many situations you need to make split second decisions. One wrong move or stupid action and you all die and the mission is over. You need to be good in killing bugs, how you move in space around you and how you can use space around you in your and your team advantage. Complex and fun game for sure. Rock & Stone! ❤️
why is drg so good? because every aspect of it is well done and fun. and the devs respect your time and your wallet and your progression and even your fun (non cheat mods can be EASILY instaled)
I'm a lvl 79 Admirable Admiral of Super Earth. I bought DRG yesterday. Still grasping for the basics, but I'm having a good time so far! (Although the game is kinda challenging from a beginner's perspective since I couldn't extract from most missions)
DRG has a better foundation currently than other coop games that die within months because they lack needed features that would be added after their battlepass is finished, the game lets you learn and refine your skill over time that is more visible compared to coop games that sometimes let the players with the highest level weapon win, and that base game without the seasons has carried the game mostly to this day, its just that the base game and endgame content has felt ignored mostly for seasons instead that I go through within a month, hopefully rogue core will provide a good future, also DRG survivor feels meh with all the overclocks mostly being stat upgrades also
I feel that it’s the community that really makes the game good, people wanna drink beer and shoot things. The simple “we’re rich” happens in low levels without a high level person saying we ping this item until we get yelled at it just happens
This touches on pretty much everything I love about DRG and why I've put almost 3k hours into it. There's been more time with everything unlocked than without and the game doesn't get dull. It's also astonishing how I've only had about 7 toxic interactions in the over 3 years I've put into this game. The quality of the community reflects the quality of the game. Rock and Stone miner! Well done!
I've spent a ton of money buying this game for many friends over the years, and every single time I play with them the first time, I tell them that it doesn't matter what class they play as. The only thing that matters is that they understand that the V key / right stick press is THE most important key to use in the game, because as well all know: if you don't rock and stone, you ain't comin' home!
Game companies should learn that when you commit resources to actually making a game the community wants you get rewarded big time. I honestly can’t believe why game companies refuse to do away with mainly micro-transaction based cosmetics and paid updates. Make a game that people want to play, people buy the game, people love they game, they buy skins. It’s not that hard
people buy skins even now though. the problem with the current Big Company Gamung oandscape, is that their models work. why would they need to put effort, when they can just sell skins/gacha stuff for absolurd prices, and people will still buy it. in gamung industry and the like, people vote with their wallets, and that vote has already been made
@@GEB_Rosee_PPS you missed my point tho, I’m saying it takes virtually the same amount of effort for both paths, only difference being that at the end of it you’re either left with a good game that people will talk about for years and years (and with that comes a loyal fanbase for your next game) or you’re left with a mediocre game that no one will play anymore so you have to make another mediocre game so you can keep making money. “Their models work” so does making a good game, you’re saying that as if those shitty models make more money for less effort which is not true. They make more money for less effort UPFRONT, but in the long run they lose reputation, they never build a strong employee base, and they will eventually die out because of it. My whole point is that game companies who choose to make mediocre games to turn a quick profit are morons, if they focussed on building a good business instead of looking for quick cash they would make way more in the long run. Yes “people buy skins even now”, but it doesn’t change the fact that these companies should still be trying to make good games, sure if people stopped buying overpriced skins it would help, but it shouldn’t be a problem even now if true artists were calling the shots instead of moronic marketing people who can only value short term gains.
Didn’t expect to love this game as much as i did. almost have 200 hours on it now and it really is just a great co-op shooter. the combat and traversing the caves is just so unique
2:29 strongly disease on this one! As a Engineer main myself i can tell doesn't have alot of weakness. I think they are a jack-of-all-traits and perfect for solo and your turret should be a secondary objective (mostly i rock solo turret with quick builds and while rocking the shotgun i pick the turret blast). I think they are the filler/ancor/complemention role to other classes characters the most. The worst thing about him though is the fact that hes hard to manage
Your inclusion of the fan-made music for the game is just the perfect highlight for the video. There is no other coop game like DRG (Helldivers sure does try, good for them). I wish you mentioned it somewhere that those songs were fan-made though, they deserve their own shoutout and it's another testament to how good the game is, and how closely tied the developers and the fans of this community are. Rock and Stone you beautiful dwarves!
At one point I didn't even know DRG existed, never heard of it, never heard anyone mention it. I was just browsing through Game Pass and its cover art caught my eye, I took a look at it and thought "Huh... This looks pretty interesting". I am now addicted to committing war crimes against filthy Xenos
Most games are forcing you to either spend more time grinding or spend more money to grind faster. DRG just lets you have fun at your own pace without giving options of wasting more money on grinding faster. And i didn't see any game using a lot of fun mechanics when your team is idling at base. DRG, aside from only playing with physics, like kicking barrels, also lets you drop a minimum of your ingame currency for drinking with different outcomes or football or prop hunt or dancing. Like hell, why wouldn't some coop games put more things for people to chill out at. Like some ball game, board game, rock paper scissors. Oh yeah, because companies think developing it is wasting their money.
Many thanks for the support, it is much appreciated!

It's always nice stumbling over small channels like this, especially if you've made videos yourself
im glad people are still making these types of videos. brings me back to when i wasnt able to play this game, and i just watched loads of content for it. good times
Same, finally able to buy the game now
Same, when I bought it my pc was only able to do 2 FPS and lots of colourful glitches
Darktide is at least a lot better than it was on launch, but no game can compare to DRG still
Indeed, DRG is in a class all its own.
darktide has incredibly good gameplay.
@@Joeggurnaut546 the only thing i can think of is the lack of difficulties above haz 5, because haz 5 does get pretty easy after a while
Darktide at launch? That's really low bar right there mate
@@desko2041 I guess you are really happy with the new season then)
The Dallas AHHHH will always get me laughing when I dont expect it.
The blue collar humor of the dwarves and mission control had me laughing. It has a fun charm. Also the movie Easter Eggs not sure everyone gets
...and Helldivers tried but nothing beats ROCK. AND. STONE!!!!!
This game is a cozy, safe space. It feels like being home everytime I play
Deep Rock is straight up just the best online live service game right now. I hold every other game to this game's standards
couldn't have said it better myself. ROCK AND STONE BROTHER
Not a live a service game, actually
No servers
12:16 its a way of encouragement a way of celebration a way to express your satisfaction a way of greeting one another
A friend of mine who have recently deceased not too long ago had recommended this game to me at first I was optimistic. Wasn’t sure if I really cared for it but I gave it a try and here I am hundreds of hours in one of the best games that I’ve ever played and I will continue to play in his memory
ROCK&STONE
I personally love all phrases, and that's one of DRG brick's. LOOK, INNO PEARL HERE, I SMELL BECON, HELP ME YOU BASTARD, IS IT A BLOODY TARGET ON MY BACK OR WHAT??? THIS WAY!! WE ARE UNBREAKABLE! FOR ROCK AND STONE
I can't feel my beard, HEEEEEEEELP
“Rocking is more legal than stoning”
God damn that ending hit me hard for some reason... im not sure why, but i genuinely teared up with how amazingly well you put it.
I love this game so much - Rock and Stone, everyone!
11:24 This game really can't decide whether or not its a live service. It receives notable updates, but doesn't demand you stick with it 24/7 (especially with the season reactivation thing coming up very soon).
The game is also takes literally less than 4 GB of space (truly dwarf-sized)
The game was built to have a sense of comradery and the addition of the laser pointer allow seamless communication without the need of chat/mic.
We're rich
I'll remember getting DRG around the time Octoberfest event was live, this was my first ever purchased game at the time. I've never experienced a community that is so friendly, funny, crazy, positive and Inspirational as the DRG community. I'll hope this game legacy and community will continue to thrive for many years to come!
*Rock and Stone everyone!*
01:15 If I could describe drg with just two words, it would be 'rock' and 'stooone'.
ROCK AND STONE MAKES ALL OF US BROS
You know what. Only the fiest 15 seconds have earned you a like
I respect your punctuality
What do you mean?
Did I hear a rock and stone?
Nice! Rock Raiders music. Amazing
if you dont ROCK and STONE you aint comin home
why is drg so good? because every aspect of it is well done and fun.
and the devs respect your time and your wallet and your progression
and even your fun (non cheat mods can be EASILY instaled)
It's my favorite shooter. Helldivers was really fun, hell, probably still is. But drg is the one I still play.
I'm a lvl 79 Admirable Admiral of Super Earth. I bought DRG yesterday. Still grasping for the basics, but I'm having a good time so far! (Although the game is kinda challenging from a beginner's perspective since I couldn't extract from most missions)
FOR ROCK AND STONE!
ROCK AND STONE OR YOUR NOT COMING HOME
Rock and stone you beautiful dwarf!
when i play drg i feel like the game is made by a friend for friends
3:58
Engineer "KA-BOOM"
Scout "Get down Mr. President"
DRG has a better foundation currently than other coop games that die within months because they lack needed features that would be added after their battlepass is finished, the game lets you learn and refine your skill over time that is more visible compared to coop games that sometimes let the players with the highest level weapon win, and that base game without the seasons has carried the game mostly to this day, its just that the base game and endgame content has felt ignored mostly for seasons instead that I go through within a month, hopefully rogue core will provide a good future, also DRG survivor feels meh with all the overclocks mostly being stat upgrades also
we fight for rock and stone!
Rock And Stone
Damn my man really got Shiki No Uta playing. Love it ❤️❤️
I feel that it’s the community that really makes the game good, people wanna drink beer and shoot things.
Well done!
hearing rock raiders music here was like a jumpscare.
Most helpful community
6:31 bro must be stalking me because this is the most accurate description of how i found this game
ROCK AND STONE
ROCK AND STONE FOR FUCKING EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
You forgot the phrase "Leave no dwarf behind!"
One of the best videos i watched this week. keep it up!!!
The Helldivers 2 is like DRG, because it has the same concept and core gameplay
I've spent a ton of money buying this game for many friends over the years, and every single time I play with them the first time, I tell them that it doesn't matter what class they play as. The only thing that matters is that they understand that the V key / right stick press is THE most important key to use in the game, because as well all know: if you don't rock and stone, you ain't comin' home!
You should make a lot more videos like this man, this was QUALITY
Keep up the work, would love to see you in a couple years on my recomended again
Many thanks!
3:57 Oh my god that scout just mr. presidented your hyperprop
Short answer: its actually fun and giving the players more than what they paid for :D
Still the biggest mystery to me why DRG is not always in the Steam top 5 charts.
The Rock Raiders music was soooo good.
for rock and stone
Rock and Stone, to the bone!
Amazing video! Vids like these makes me love the game even more
I've been down in the caves for 7 years and I still cannot Rock n'Stone enough.
Best co-op and funnest grind you'll ever find. Period
Rock and stone brother
10 seconds in, sad the video is over already but it was a great essay, you’ve earned my sub!
i have played this game so much that i say the lines of what the dwarves say when im in public
11:30 totally true , you forgot to mention about recuperable seasons, i never saw a game that give to u such thing
Didn’t expect to love this game as much as i did. almost have 200 hours on it now and it really is just a great co-op shooter. the combat and traversing the caves is just so unique
Rock and Stone FROM THE HEART. DRG became part of my top ten games of all time, in record time
ROCK AND STONE. Glad to find this game and this greatest community ever. Its now not just a game for me, its part of my soul
Is that Lego Rock Raiders OST I hear in the background? XD @4:00
You BET it is!
so true
MANY thanks for giving this a watch. Big fan of your work in DRG as well.
That Lego Rock Raiders Soundtrack
Amazing vid keep on going , you earned my sub
Much appreciated :)
I would need 4 words to describe it.
FOR ROCK AND STONE!
We complete every mission for one reason... For Carl!
Oh yeah, because companies think developing it is wasting their money.
and just recently Wind Rose the gods of Dwarf Metal have released an amazing banger of an anthem for DRG called unsurprisingly Rock and Stone
if you dont rock and stone, you aint coming home
