Some more excellent hard rocking songs from Heart are "Straight On", "Heartless", "Kick It Out", and "Even It Up". On the lighter side you have "Dog and Butterfly" and "Dreamboat Annie". You might want to go for something lighter, like "Dog and Butterfly", just to get a sense of the versatility of the group. They could kill it just as well with 'soft rock'. Attention Andy and all!! Just connected (on-line) with original Heart Drummer "Michael Derosier" whom performed on Magic Man, Barracuda, Crazy On You, etc. He has a classic Heart tribute " Heart to Heart'. Perhaps can get him to comment hear. As a fellow drummer always found him particularly funky. Always loved his grooves.
Unfortunately, Michael was not the drummer for either "Magic Man" (that was Dave Wilson) or "Crazy On You" (that was Kat Hendrikse). Derosier only played on "White Lighting and Wine" and "Sing Child" on the Dreamboat Annie album as a session player like the two previously mentioned, and Duris Maxwell on "How Deep it Goes". Now, he did become a full time member after the album was done, along with Howard Leese on guitar, keyboards, string arrangements, and everything else.
@@joeldf6859 Glad you told me that before putingt my foot in my mouth when interacting with him again, lol. Damn. Will have to do some resesrch in the future. Just assumed he was the guy for all their early material. Did he perform on the Dog & Butterfly album if so he got seriously funky on " Straight on to You".
Guys, this is one instance where you have to listen to the whole album, Dreamboat Annie(1976), their debut and arguably one of the best debuts of all time(even though Boston's is hard to beat) to realize how great a singer Ann Wilson is. Besides the songs, lyrics and musicianship on this album, the highlight is Wilson's voice. The 10 songs here range from hard rockers(Bangers, a term that I don't personally care for) like Magic Man, Crazy On You, White Lightning & Wine and Sing Child to soft, mellow songs. Songs like How Deep It Goes, (Love Me Like Music) I'll Be Your Song and Soul Of The Sea, not to mention the 3 part Dreamboat Annie. This album is like a clinic for vocalists and Roger Fisher's electric and Nancy Wilson's acoustic guitars are exceptional and raise it to a even higher level.
Straight On is probably the next one in my opinion but honestly if you have not seen Ann And Nancy's cover of Stairway To Heaven at The Kennedy Center Honors it is a must. One of the best covers ever.
When I was 16 I took a girl to a heart concert. At the time, I was big into Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, etc so, I wasn't looking forward to much and they flat out blew me away. I've been a diehard fan ever since. Not only did they play an awesome show, but added a few zeppelin covers in the encore that were pretty much spot on. This song is a great example of their writing. They absolutely deserve to be considered up there with the best. Great reaction!
"Dream Of The Archer" has Anne's longest note sustain, and "Sing Child" has a EVH breakdown in the middle. "Soul Of The Sea" has a funk breakdown vocally. The first two album are all good.
If they do "Dream Of the Archer", they have to start off with "Sylvan Song". Can't do one without the other. Kind of like "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions".
@@michlkwitz Hard to imagine one without the other. Sylvan Song followed by Dream of the Archer is like taking a Transporter to Middle-earth. I would buy that ticket :)
Straight On is my favorite Heart song ever. They went more commercial in the 80’s under the instruction of management and they didn’t not like there own music but its still very good. More 80’s style music over rock n roll but well worth the listen
I don't know anymore what it takes to get an "S" with you guys, if this isn't one, nothing is! I think you started handing out esses so much in the beginning that you just don't want to give them out anymore.
Musical tastes change over time so I believe it's a stylistic choice to rate between an A+ and an S. I'm hoping the guys do a Revival Tour in 5 years where they reevaluate their A+ songs (at least one A+ rating) and their S songs.
An S should be a song that cannot be surpassed. It is a work of brilliance that sets it apart from good and even great songs. It's beyond reproach. Barracuda is a great song. Magic Man is a masterpiece.
There are many songs that are worth experiencing from Heart. Some are bangers, some are truly heartfelt and genuine but there is really ONLY ONE you HAVE to experience for sure... MISTRAL WIND is an amazing song that just has it all!!!! No poll needed here.
Waited a long time for this one. This song is not only my favorite Heart songs but in the top 3 three of all my favorites. While you guys gave it an A+, IMO, this is without a doubt S tier.

I love me some Wilson sisters, this one is such a banger. That Mini Moog Synth, is so tasty! Ann's vocals are so sublime and sexy. Great reaction Gents!
I've enjoyed your reactions, especially to this group since I think they are criminally underrated. My recommendation for your next tune from them is Mistral Wind. It might be the best song in their entire catalog which is saying something. Roger Fisher's guitar work and riffing is at it's peak, Nancy's acousic is incredible, the drumming is incredible, and Ann's vocals are an absolute force of nature. Especially if you like the classic, heavy, deep, dark music you will love Mistral Wind.
Some of the pics from my 2nd row seat at the Heart concert, fall 1978. My roommate gave me his big telephoto SLR and told me to take some pics. Barely zoomed at all or else would have just seen a blurry eye, lol. And before the show, Nancy was being interviewed by the campus radio station, in the basement of my dorm. Me and like 2 other guys downstairs to see what was up. When the interview was over and Nancy came out, her nervous agent opened a briefcase and threw about 100 autographed pics of the band up into the air, thinking he'd have to distract us so Nancy could safely be whisked to the waiting limo. Too funny. Just a couple chill dudes wanting to say hello. Kept one of the group pics, it's in the album. imgur.com/gallery/Coii1Mz
That's Track One on their debut LP, guys. For more Heart, "Love Alive" is a nice, complex tune and both "Cook With Fire" and "Rockin' Heaven Down" are total bangers.

Coming from someone who grew up listening to Heart, was madly in love with both singers, and has mad respect for their talents, the next song you need to hit is one of my favorites....Straight On.
Ballad, not banger, but Ann Wilson’s vocal on “Alone” must be heard to be believed.
Unplugged, acoustic version from The Road Home tour is masterclass!
Agree
Totally agree!
'Who Will You Run To' is one I really liked.
I like the Offical Video of that song.
While i agree its a good song A&A are not into 80's music
5:10 "this is fuckin' incredible"...... my exact reaction the first time I heard it.
Yes, yes, yes! Magic Man by Heart!!! 😺
No WAY they would have that instrumental break in ANY song today. No way. That is what is missing today.
LOVE ALIVE by Heart"live 1978" version..Ann opens song with a breathtaking flute solo
Minstrel Wind is maybe their most underrated song
I agree, but it's Mistral Wind
The live version is incredible. Ann's vocals are epic. On Heart Greatest Hits
Imagine being a junior in high school and having music like this - amazing times. Thanks for showing Heart the respect they deserve.❤
I would welcome a full Dreamboat Annie reaction.
Definitely "Love Alive". And make sure to turn up the subwoofers.
Straight On is probably the next one in my opinion but honestly if you have not seen Ann And Nancy's cover of Stairway To Heaven at The Kennedy Center Honors it is a must. One of the best covers ever.
They reacted to it already.
@@michlkwitz I agree, so make sure to give them a comment on that as well.
@@michlkwitz Totally agree. And Dream of the Archer was the song that initially grabbed me and pulled me into the rest of their music.
@@michlkwitz Hard to imagine one without the other. Sylvan Song followed by Dream of the Archer is like taking a Transporter to Middle-earth. I would buy that ticket :)
@@michlkwitz absolutely? Like buicuits and gravy
“I need this for an intro every time i walk into a room.” 😆 Seriously your best line in any of your videos.
Alex and Andy PLEASE react to "Tom Petty - Runnin Down A Dream Live" ❤️❤️
Even It Up, Rockin’ Heaven Down, Little Queen, Kick It Out, Love Alive.
Give Howard Leese some credit here as well. He has been Paul Rogers guitar player for years & is in the recent incarnations of Bad Company.
also great that he covers the synth and doubles the guitar. Really added a lot.
"I forgot it was _that_ good." My sentiments exactly.
This and "Crazy On You" are a perfect pair for Valentine's Day.
Such a great band vocals and instruments. Cant wait until you guys get to The Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin with Heart as the performers.
Agree. This one should be an S. Their best song by a country mile.
Musical tastes change over time so I believe it's a stylistic choice to rate between an A+ and an S. I'm hoping the guys do a Revival Tour in 5 years where they reevaluate their A+ songs (at least one A+ rating) and their S songs.
@@nocakeforsusan8701 Great idea!
No poll needed here.
that is there S tier song for sure!
Next song? You've heard some bangers, now explore the tender side... "Dreamboat Annie" or "Dog and Butterfly". Ann's voice was made for all of it!
"Bebe Le Strange" is my favorite Heart deep track.
Waited a long time for this one. This song is not only my favorite Heart songs but in the top 3 three of all my favorites. While you guys gave it an A+, IMO, this is without a doubt S tier.
One of the all time GREAT debut albums. Check out the inner cover pictures. Yumm
Joni Mitchell needs some love. “Help Me” would be good.
I second "Help Me".
As good as “Barracuda” and “Crazy On You” are, this one is much more creative
Straight On is a banger. I'd like to ask for some Jackson Browne- Doctor My Eyes with the great Leland Sklar on bass.
Jesse Ed Davis on lead guitar...
Seen him so many times. Out here in colorado! Got front row -center seats because my then-boyfriend off & on for over 30 years is a computer wizard & got tickets a few hours before the show! He is so good! He's got his own channel right now with live performances of everything. I like to add "SKY BLUE & BLACK". Saw him in Telluride CO google it the most beautiful place on earth! Also Red Rocks Amphitheater -best concert natural bowl in the USA.
"I need this to be the intro every time I walk into the room." Priceless!
Give the Atlanta Rhythm Section a listen. Champagne Jam is my favorite.
Hear hear. ARS has a boatload of sauce!
Spooky, Imaginary Lover, So Into You are all great songs.
@@kbusby4824 Loved to rock out to Large Time
Also....
I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight ...longest title, best advice all in one song.
YES YES YES , Spooky ,,, So into you , Imaginary Lover , YOU guys will LOVE THESE Songs, I Promise ,, SOOO much 70s GOLD
"Little Queen," "Straight On," "Kick it Out."
Kick it out is a good rocker
Straight On - hands down.
That's Track One on their debut LP, guys. For more Heart, "Love Alive" is a nice, complex tune and both "Cook With Fire" and "Rockin' Heaven Down" are total bangers.
What I love about Ann Wilson is you understand every single word from her..her voice is incredible and Nancy is just as good.. My favorite female artists by far!! The band...they deserve just as much I'd a shout out!!
As mentioned several times, Heart at Kennedy honors singing, no DOING Zeppelin's Stair Way to Heaven. Goose Bump stuff!
"MISTRAL WIND" for sure!!! masterpiece.
"Straight On"
Anyone remember how very few women rockers there were during this time?? I love Heart!!
Well I would recommend "little queen" or "straight on", "kick it out" or for more mellow feel "dog and butterfly"
Roger masters that guitar like it’s a willful horse. The girls singing together sound like the Sirens calling the lost sailors.
Heart Straight on to you, Heartless
White-Lightning and Wine + Sing Child Sing.... Outrageous songs you will not hear on the radio... these girls can sing....
GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING A&A FAMILY!!!
