I feel like this song(Magic Man) , Barracuda and Crazy on You are the Heart hat trick.... they have all such great intros and are really classic rock and roll in every sense of the word.... their later stuff is good but a bit more poppy and these 3 songs will always be at the top of my list.
This is the song that each member gets a moment to shine. Each guitar is a different player, which is why it sounds that way; even the synth gets a moment. Most of the tracks have a story behind them. They weren't afraid to play.
Another 🔥🔥🔥🔥 song by the great Ann & Nancy and the attributing band members. Ann was performing a few weeks ago may be yet. She is definitely one of the greatest singers ever.
Heart are rock legends! Definitely check out "Alone" and "These Dreams" The latter song Nancy Wilson does lead vocals. And Ann's vocals will blow you away in Alone! Cheers!
Heart basically had two careers. One, in the mid-late 70's when they did rock and folksy stuff and were a fairly big band. Oh, and big time Led Zeppelin hero worshippers. They have several Zeppelin covers. The one of Stairway to Heaven is maybe one of the best covers ever made. This song is from that period. Then they sort of fell off the map for a few years in the early 80's and came back with basically just the two sisters. And in the early to late 80's and did power ballads. In the 70's, Ann, the singer, wrote the songs. In the 80's they hired writers to write the songs and "sexxxed" themselves up with their look. The sister's HATED doing the new outfits but the record company insisted. And for about 5 years they were one of the biggest groups on the planet. The number of hit songs they have from the 80's is pretty astounding. They are still floating around and doing the occasional concert. You really need to do some of their stuff from the 80's period. I think you will really like their sound from then. The Wilson sisters are from Seattle but Ann moved to I think Vancouver to start her music career with her bf I think. Nancy followed her there a year or two later and joined her band. They did a lot of the local clubs in Canada and did a lot of Zeppelin covers until they had a hit played on the radio. Forget which song. It might have been this one. Then I think they came back to the states. They had an excellent biography about 20 years ago that explained all this. This song is about Ann talking to her mother from Canada and explaining to her mom about her new bf and why she won't come back home.
Actually the band changed their name to Heart before Nancy joined them. The founder of Heart left the U.S. to avoid the Vietnam draft. Ann met him in Seattle where he was originally from too. He had snuck back to Seattle from Vancouver to visit his family. Ann followed him to Vancouver and Nancy joined later, like you said. The song Dream Boat Annie was Heart's 1st breakout hit in Canada.
They did more than power ballads in the 80s. The title track from Bad Animals is one of the best heavy tunes they ever did. If Looks Could Kill, The Night, and Wild Child are great hard rockers too. Their record company seemed to release too many power ballads as single, but Heart was still putting out heavy stuff them too.
@@rwcoving True. Was generalizing. I was wondering. What period of Heart did you like better? It's a toss up for me. I really like about 5 songs from the early period but I like more songs from the later period.
Backstory (mine)- I grew up heavy into R&B, Funk. A little bit of exposure to the classic rock of the 60's & 70's. Here I was, 16 yrs old, a junior in high school. Now I had heard this song before but never truly listened to it. One day I did. And there was no turning back! Heart's Magic Man was my introduction into Rock n Roll. There was 2 versions of it on the radio stations. The album version was what I heard the first time. Whenever I heard a shorter edited version of it over the airwaves I was offended. It would skip over the guitar solos before Ann chimed back in for the conclusion. I truly loved the longer album version ( played in this video) because it would highlight/ showcase/ put the spotlight on ( as if Ann and Nancy were introducing to the listener ) the talents of each of the individual band members of the band. It literally changed the way I listened to music from that moment forward. That is why to this day some 40 + years later, I have little tolerance for this autotune pop dominated era we are in. I crave REAL talented vocalists, with REAL masters of their REAL instruments.
Ann and Nancy wrote this song, It was inspired by Ann's boyfriend at the time Mike Fisher, Heart's manager whose brother Roger Fisher was lead guitarist. They had moved from Seattle to Vancouver for the guys in the band to avoid the draft for Vietnam.
Heart - Magic Man ...They are from Seattle. Ann fell in love with the band's manager Michael Fisher, a draft dodger. Their father was a Marine and the sisters moved to Canada. The following is copied and pasted. ---> Ann Wilson: It’s absolutely my leaving home song. My mother wasn’t all too sure that the best thing for me was to-even though I was already 21, she wasn’t sure that I should be jumping into this full-time sexual cohabitational relationship with somebody in a whole other country [Ann moved from Seattle, Washington, to Vancouver, B.C. with Fisher]. And she was calling me, going, ‘What are you up to? C’mon, I don’t know if you should be going this. Come on back! Be careful, give it some thought!’ And I was just like, ‘Nope, nope, I’m gone! I’m in!’ And it was love at first sight that lasted for about eight years! But “Magic Man” was definitely written about the spell that I was under and my conversations with my mother about it at the time.
Fisher was not a draft dodger. The American Government falsely told him he had been drafted when his draft number had not been picked, just like they did to thousands of Young Men in that time period. So they left, and don't blame them at all.
Youve barely scratched the surface on Heart sso maaaaany great songs by them. Crazy on you live is a must as is Alone and these dreams to name but a few. I last saw them last yeaar and they still sound amazing Great reaction as usual
Crazy On You is their very best. Some people are going to tell you about a live version. Don’t do it for the first listen. The original album version is absolutely fantastic. You’ll love it.
❤😊 Another one of my absolute favorite bands!! I love your reactions!! ❤ It's so cool that their music stands the test of time!! (I guess I do too since I was in high school when this album came out!! 😲) In addition to all the other songs in the comments, all fantastic their first #1 Billboard hit was "These Dreams". Beautiful song and Nancy sings the lead! 😮😅 Luv you guys!! 😊❤❤
Heart moved from Seattle Washington to Vancouver Canada because Ann Wilson's boyfriend Michael Fisher, the band's manager at the time, was living in Canada to avoid the military draft in 1973.
in 1976 I saw them live at the Electric Rodeo concert with REO Speed-wagon, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Renaissance, Nils Lofgrin and a few other acts. ONE OF THE BEST EVER!!!
Awesome Reaction 👍 Fun Fact: In Heart's early, pre-breakout days playing in the Vancouver club scene, their passion and skill for playing Led Zeppelin cover songs earned them the nickname "Little Led Zeppelin." Can you imagine what an honor it was for them to be chosen to perform "Stairway To Heaven" for the 3 surviving members of ZEP at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors Led Zeppelin concert? Especially with Jason Bonham, son of original ZEP drummer, the late John Bonham, on drums! That uniquely arranged performance was breathtaking! The reactions of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones caught on camera were priceless! 🤘
Great reaction Sam and Phil! I've listened to a lot of powerful female rock 'n' roll singers. Before most of them singing today were born, there was Heart and Ann Wilson.
Love Heart and your reactions to these wonderful woman.. A Banger for sure... Would love to see you react to some Joan Jett in the Backhearts (Do You Want To Touch Me There... for one)
I remember when Alone was on radio in Portugal. Pretty much every radio station broadcasted that song every hour. After a couple of weeks another song, with a more rocking sound had the same broadcast time ( sorry, I can't remember the name). Some three or four months later, no more Heart songs were taking the airwaves. Many people thought the band was extinct.
Easily Heart's best song. If you like the "haunting" vibe of this one you should also do Heartless. One of Heart's most underrated songs despite being on their greatest hits album.
Super Groovy Reactions! This tune reminds me of "Steven Tyler" I was just learning boys were more than, bikes, baseball & fights. Lol Steven Tyler was my first crush ever. This tune was him, for me anyways. Peace On Ya
This was the first song I'd heard from Heart, and needless to say, it blew, and still, blows me away! Roger Fisher is the lead guitarist, and he's off the chain! Let alone Ann Wilson's vocals!
Crazy on you, might be there best song, but this one is a close number 2. I would do the studio version first, then watch the live later, so you get to hear them like everybody else got to hear them the first time.
I remember when this album came out. The critics liked Ann and Nancy Wilson, but they described the guitar players as "Led Zeppelin rejects". I laughed so hard I fell off my chair!
This band is so versatile yet everyone only reacts to this, Barracuda and Stairway to Heaven. So much other great music to show the range of their talent. Check out songs from Dog & Butterfly.
More Heart : - Crazy On You - If Looks Could Kill - Nothing At All - Never - What About Love - These Dreams - Alone - All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You
Heart is always better live. However I have seen some live videos that for some reason someone played the studio version audio over the video and it looks like they're lip syncing. Definitely not the case. I saw them live back in '76 or '77.
You should check out "COOK WITH FIRE" (its not about cooking), "Sing Child," (not about children singing), "White Lightning and Wine", (this is about drinking)😅 and "Mistral Wind"(not about wind). This is a good start...your gonna love these.😁🩷 I grew up in the same city as Ann and Nancy and I'm a Heart freak. I even partied with the drummer once in 1979. Funny story...I went to a house party and they weren't having a party. Mike Derosier answered the door and said there was no party, I turned to leave and he invited me in to chat. He did it because he needed a person to vent to about Roger Fisher getting fired from the band that day. He seemed stunned and shocked by it. I knew of Heart but I didn't know who he was and wasn't sure if he was lying at first. I checked out his picture later and it was him. We chatted for a few hours and then I went home. Their early albums 'Little Queen" and 'Dreamboat Annie' are the only ones I really dig. The later stuff was always too commercial and putting on a front for me.
Heart back in the day is always great. The only point of contention is why in the world would you take a giant dump on the back end of this song with those horrible, now very dated, keyboards. Other than that’s it’s great.
One of the greatest vocalists of the last century!
A true legend!
Still my favorite female vocalist
I feel like this song(Magic Man) , Barracuda and Crazy on You are the Heart hat trick.... they have all such great intros and are really classic rock and roll in every sense of the word.... their later stuff is good but a bit more poppy and these 3 songs will always be at the top of my list.

So glad you're listening to more Heart! "Alone" is another great song from them ❤
Coming next!
Alone might be the worst song they put out.
Cheers!
These dreams will show the other sister vocals! It’s fabulous
True, but i think "Treat me well" is a better song to show her vocals.
If you get a chance watch the full live version of Magic Man, the musicians playing this are a trip.
I remember this playing all the time in the barracks when it came out.
Saw them in concert back in 1977. Good times.

I think her new squeeze was the guitarist back then..
Dog and Butterfly a great ballad off this album and Crazy on You a great song.
Can NEVER go wrong with Heart. Legends!!
Straight On To You is a banger. Love Heart
I bought this album back in the 80s U.K.. my favourite and most listened to, Heart are so gifted ❤
Early Heart is my favorite. Recommend Crazy on You next, and for something lighter - Dreamboat Annie
Backstory (mine)-
I grew up heavy into R&B, Funk.

Straight On For You is a super popular funky song you'll love.
There’s a live version of this, from that period of course, with extended guitars and synthesizer you’ll love!
I really love that part of the song with the Minimoog synthesizer. Especially when it gets into that low register coming up here 9:48 to here 10:00
Crazy on You is another Heart banger!
If you wanna hear Ann Wilson go bonkers you gotta try Crazy On You
I love Heart and this song. It came out when I was in high school.
Heart had some bangers. Alone is badass
Cruising around in 1976 in my Chevy van with Dreamboat Annie 8 track blasting Away!
Don't know how many nights I listened to their "Little Queen" album just chilling out.

Love you 2. Especially the Canada connection. Look forward to your reactions
"Magic Man": one of my favs!
Crazy on you is my favorite by heart. Try it she diffently takes her voice everywhere. 😊
❤❤❤❤ great great great great band❤❤❤❤
Crazy On You is their very best. Some people are going to tell you about a live version. Don’t do it for the first listen. The original album version is absolutely fantastic. You’ll love it.
…..1975 “Dreamboat Annie” track 8 off the album (Sing Child) 🙏🏻
Rock/Funk with Ann Wilson flute solo 🔥❤️
❤😊 Another one of my absolute favorite bands!! I love your reactions!! ❤ It's so cool that their music stands the test of time!! (I guess I do too since I was in high school when this album came out!! 😲) In addition to all the other songs in the comments, all fantastic their first #1 Billboard hit was "These Dreams". The whole album of Dream Boat Annie was awesome !
My favorite Heart Song ❤
Heart moved from Seattle Washington to Vancouver Canada because Ann Wilson's boyfriend Michael Fisher, the band's manager at the time, was living in Canada to avoid the military draft in 1973.
oh yeah! lets do this! enjoy!
Finish off the beginning years with Crazy On You and then Dreamboat Annie!!
such a great song
..."Class of 76"...He's a Magic Man Momma...He's Got the Magic Hands...
Great reaction! Sam, please just stand up one time. 😍
Black on Black 2. Awesome vocals and very powerful
"Magic Man" my personal favorite from the "Dreamboat Annie" Album. And for me personally, coming in at second is "Sing Child".
in 1976 I saw them live at the Electric Rodeo concert with REO Speed-wagon, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Renaissance, Nils Lofgrin and a few other acts. ONE OF THE BEST EVER!!!

🤘
Do "Straight on for You" it's a popular song and was a hit but you don't see many reactors do that one for some reason.
Same album, try "Crazy on you". Brilliant song!
Great reaction Sam and Phil! I've listened to a lot of powerful female rock 'n' roll singers. Before most of them singing today were born, there was Heart and Ann Wilson.
Nobody ever reacts to their softer folksy songs like "Dog and Butterfly" and "Dreamboat Annie". Hope you get a chance to listen to those one day.
Love Heart and your reactions to these wonderful woman.. A Banger for sure... Would love to see you react to some Joan Jett in the Backhearts (Do You Want To Touch Me There... for one)

IMO this is Heart’s masterpiece ❤
Listen to Dream of the Archer. Ann's note at the end is mindblowing . . .
You need to watch the videos!!!
Easily Heart's best song. If you like the "haunting" vibe of this one you should also do Heartless. One of Heart's most underrated songs despite being on their greatest hits album.
love heart
Its hard to believe that Majic Man was released in Canada a year before being released in the USA. June of 1975 in Canada and June of 1976 in the USA.
Remember, when this song came out, most people were, well, high?😄
Super Groovy Reactions! This tune reminds me of "Steven Tyler" I was just learning boys were more than, bikes, baseball & fights. Lol Steven Tyler was my first crush ever. This tune was him, for me anyways. Peace On Ya

Crazy on you, might be there best song, but this one is a close number 2. I would do the studio version first, then watch the live later, so you get to hear them like everybody else got to hear them the first time.
One of those songs that are made for headphones. If the song went for thirty minutes I'd be even happier.
I remember when this album came out. The critics liked Ann and Nancy Wilson, but they described the guitar players as "Led Zeppelin rejects". I laughed so hard I fell off my chair!
I am 62 heard this bombshell back when I was 15 never gets old
Alone Video a Must.
I saw heart in a night club before they became famous. This was they song they played that made a heart fan for life
I love watching the two of you do reactions - and these Heart ones are great!
More to come!
“Mistral Wind”
Been awhile since I listened to the studio version, live is just so much better
Another great reaction as always! You guys are perfect
You're the best!
This band is so versatile yet everyone only reacts to this, Barracuda and Stairway to Heaven. So much other great music to show the range of their talent. Check out songs from Dog & Butterfly.
Crazy On You is their best song in my opinion. Studio version.
Love this song, another one of their greatest hits. Also check out: Crazy on You, Straight On, Dog And The Butterfly & Dreamboat Annie.
More Heart :
- Crazy On You
- If Looks Could Kill
- Nothing At All
- Never
- What About Love
- These Dreams
- Alone
- All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You
I saw Cheap Trick open for Heart back in the 90s. Heart should have opened the show. Cheap Trick blew Heart away. Both are groups I totally enjoy.
Heart is always better live. However I have seen some live videos that for some reason someone played the studio version audio over the video and it looks like they're lip syncing. Definitely not the case. I saw them live back in '76 or '77.
To have some fun with this album try playing ALL the Dreamboat Annie songs one after the other.
Do heart ALONE or who do you run too
Dreams is a good one showcasing Nancy singing. Check it out
Try Dreamboat Annie too!
Well she didn't scream like a hyena but she did screech like an F-35 falling out of the sky.
My 1st ex-wife was 8 years younger than me, so does that make me her "magic man"? LOL 😜The entire album of Dreamboat Annie is great.
SO THE 2 HUGE HITS 💯 OFF THIS DEBUT ALBUM ( DREAMBOAT ANNIE ) PHIL AND SAM ARE : THIS AND CRAZY ON YOU 😊 IT'S THE WILSON'S AND THE FISHER'S
There's a live performance from 1978 of "Crazy on You" that I highly recommend.
It reminds me of when I saw them in '77.
Please try Blue Guitar
Put Seattle on the map
YOU GOTTA DO , "ALONE" (LIVE) , AND , "WHAT ABOUT LOVE" (LIVE) , AND FOCUS ON ANN WILSON'S , INCREDIBLE LEAD VOCALS !

Please react to Heart song All I want to do is make love to you!The official video. Also Heart song Alone! Both great songs!
