A life sentence does last for the rest of your life. You just don’t necessarily spend all of the sentence in prison. People given a life sentence are on license in the community for the rest of their life if they’re ever released.
@thomasadams696 You don't get a life sentence for petty crime. The families of the victims shouldn't fear the perpetrator being released. It is cruel to the family of the victim, and it endangers the public.
Why do killers have rights? The poor victim doesn't have any.. Everything is focused on the perpertrator never the victim. The whole system is a joke! Life should mean Life ...
Does it stop killings or put off killers in eg the USA or anywhere else in the world?. No it doesn't. Taking the life of a killer isn't going to stop killers is it?
I think it should be different categories. I think life should be 25-30 years. Then a sentence of natural life means you will die of natural causes while imprisoned.
Lifers are not released early. They can only be paroled once their minimum tariff has been served. And they are released on licence, meaning they can be returned to prison at any time to complete their sentence, even without committing a further offence.
Life prisoners are released on licence, meaning they can be returned to prison even without committing a further offence at any time to serve out their sentence.
I get the things the woman was saying but i hate how its always about Women and Childrens saftey what about men? she says theres no women interaction in prison? hang on theres women prisons too? what about the crimes and murders they have commited? some probabaly killed men. This isnt a 1 gender thing at all. and i hate she makes it out that way
Calling even 25 years a life sentence is absurd and misleading. Why it make a whole life or extended sentence with a set number of years without parole the sentence and stick to it to the very last second. That way, victims of their families know exactly what term the criminal will serve.
There's nothing democratic about the UK, not even close. You're a subject not a citizen, doff you cap and mumble "mustn't grumble". There's a good lad.
Because if paroled, the prisoner is still subject to parole conditions (.eg. 'on license') for life. They can be recalled at any time, subject to a variety of lifelong restrictions on their liberty.
Maddeley grouping Lucy Letby with Rose West is going to look very odd in a few years, and Janus faced Richard will doubtless lead the chorus of media twunts asking how it ever was a court deemed her guilty, as if buttter wouldn't melt.
you don't call a green jumper a red jumper so you don't call it life when its 25 years yet a 2-3 year old riding a bicycle on a public road somehow thats legal weather theres an adult present or on another bicycle behind or in front of them is irrelevant it should be ilegal end of story...........
well its down to the courts to decide on it really,All depends on what crimes people have done,Never really agree with people doing less than half their sentence then be let out early,People done really bad,Worse crimes ever,Should be life in Jail really,Doing something like 120 years,Means if they still alive 120 years later,Then they can be released,Less likely any one would live that long,Means they be in Jail till they die before sentence is even over,They spending the rest of there time in their grave,People done a crime,They be doing time their crime
There comes a point when the prisoner will be too old to present a threat to the public and so it is safe to release them at that stage providing they have served a good part of their sentence.
If a killer refuses to say where the victims body is they should never be let out and have restricted privileges while locked up.
If they don’t get life don’t call it that. My idea of a life sentence is you don’t come out until you die

Life should mean life
If it doesn't actually mean life, the judges should stop using the word life.
It should be life for life you take a life you pay with yours
So say if YOU have a brother or sister who take a life will you want your sibling to lose there's then?.
@@thomasoflaherty3520 Yes I would want that 110%. Not a shudder of doubt either.

Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent
We need to bring back capital punishment, it's needed now more than ever! There are horrendous crimes taking place where life in prison is not enough!

You would of had to of gotten the person who did the crime without a doubt in that situation
@@ravens-crypt Yes, of course, I agree! It would have to be without a reasonable doubt, with overwhelming evidence!
@@_Phoenix3 On many occasions that has not happened has it?.
Of course it should mean life, no ifs no buts. The UK has let you and your daughter down Doreen
"Should life mean life when it comes to a prison sentence?"
THE ANSWER IS YES, OBVIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BE SOFT!!!
He should stay inside. No way out.

Great opinion. Jesus.
With life expectancy of 80 years, a life sentence should be at least a 100 years.
Life should be life iam not going to comment further

if life doesn't men life what's the point in the sentence?
Why can't the " Citizens " be consulted , have a vote ! It's called " Democracy "

Yes it should
I thought life always meant life...I did not realize that there is a lot of softness in the UK justice system, Jesus Christ.
If life doesn't mean life, why call it that?
Fudgenomics
Because it could be. It is life - with the potential for release upon meeting criteria as deemed by Parole Board.
@@mattmaciver7981 Then that is not life, that is conditional life.
@abstract33 it is life. Full life term is what you are advocating and surely that should be reserved for only the most heinous of crimes.

Yes
Life should be life ,my father was murdered, but his killer was out after a few years.
I'm so sorry to hear that! After committing such a horrific crime a few years is ridiculously unacceptable.
Da of course
No such thing as 100 percent safety anyway, a little leniency towards prisoners who are reformed is commendable
Prisons are full so they had to let prisoners go free..kaliyugam.

Not the case, there are some down right evil people out there, age is simply a number to them
