      @@nelakroyd532 Oh yes, look at the sanitized, scripted coverage of the settlement; whatever the legal advice was, and whatever actions he (or more accurately the Queen) took, he's guilty. Not admitting the guilt as part of the settlement isn't the same as being found "not guilty." Just the opposite, in fact. As in all cases, these non-admissions just allow the media to keep cashing in and the fans to keep dreaming.

    I think so much good has come from her original interview with Andrew in 2019, and will continue to do good for victims, because it raises so many important questions about what to do when the accused says they are innocent. Is he lying? A very important point made by a lawyer says he would not have settled if he could prove the photo was fake. The photo was real. His settling is an admission of guilt and he should be held more accountable for that. This is a very important case and conversation. How is it decided Andrew is lying or not?

      The reality is he shagged a 17 year old. It’s immoral but it’s not a crime in the UK. Had it not been for the interview, or more specifically, his conduct in that interview he would have been fine. Had he come out and said in that interview ‘my association with Epstein was completely wrong, and my behaviour with this girl was immoral and a terrible lapse of judgement and behaviour’ the likelihood is that he would have been forgiven. It was his utter hubris that was brought to light in that interview that destroyed him.

    Richard, Emily is neither responsible for Prince Andrew's words, or actions. That you appeared to shift all the blame on to Emily, when none belongs to her, says a lot about you. Are you in the habit of blaming people for your words and actions: particularly those you call you out?

    • @TheMouse-gc9ft
      @TheMouse-gc9ft 4 місяці тому +5

      I think it’s pretty significant in the history of journalism, because it represents a change in technique. Instead of hammering your interviewee, you just let them stick their foot in their own mouth. Also Andrew’s failure wasn’t what he did, it’s how he seemed un remorseful . It’s just a very different type of interview

    • @ddjr6673
      @ddjr6673 3 місяці тому

      @@TheMouse-gc9ftI agree with you very significant and yes… you don’t have to keep hectoring someone, in cross examination in court sometimes you lead the person to the trap, and just let them talk and talk rather than butting in all the time. So yes - a different type of interview for sure

    Emily Maitlisshould not have made herself the story or be endorsing her "character" appearing in films. Journalists are NOT the story. This was no Woodward and Bernstein investigation and great "reveal". It was a single, pre-arranged tv interview and lawyers weren't present.! I'm not excusing Andrew's actions or life choices - whatever they may have been - but I fear he was misled agreeing to this interview. I saw the interview when it first aired (before any reaction from elsewhere) and, honestly, didn't think it was the car crash it's been made out to be. I think Emily Maitlis hung him out to dry and has been living off it ever since.
