Top reaction, Sabaton history channel is always entertaining AND educational. Been following the band since 2005 now. Saw them live for the first time back then at a small festival in Andernach, Germany.
Thank you, my friend! I agree with your remarks on their history channel- no other band, be it metal or not, does anything like that! Seeing them in a small festival must be incredible! 🤘❤️🤘
@@BemusingBill Yes, it was ;) Afterwards we had a beer with them next to the stage. The two guitarists from back then left the band in 2012 (but all in a friendly spirit, as they say).
People in history circles like to make fun of the french for surrendering so quickly but they underestimate the power of the blitzkrieg after months of fighting a "phoney war" on the western front Rommel is one of the few nazis i appreciate his story is a interesting one but he still has his bad moments
Rommel was not a "Nazi" ( National Socialist ), he was not even a member of the party. He may (initially) have had a positive attitude towards aspects of the regime and Hitler in particular, but he probably never really engaged with the ideology. Just as he was an excellent military tactician, he was politically naive (I think he, like many Germans, ignored the dark side of the regime). In 1943(!) Rommel is said to have suggested in a personal conversation with Hitler that making a Jew Gauleiter would enhance Germany's reputation abroad, to which Hitler replied "My dear Rommel, you have understood nothing of what I want". What you can accuse him and other staff officers (those who were not members of the party) of is that they allowed themselves to be used by Hitler and the National Socialists because they saw themselves as "apolitical", at least that was the most common "excuse" (with a few exceptions, such as Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord, who would even have been prepared to let the Reichswehr shoot at the "Nazis").
No comments yet? Wow! I love the Sabaton History stuff. Thank you, sir! Evidently our little orange girl decided she doesn't like all this war stuff...? THAT WAS SO GREAT! Also...I got 10 points at the end, because I DID "sacrifice my musical career" (sigh), for my ex-husband and, and then when he left, for my kids. On the other hand, I also did NOT kill myself, because I DID have the kids to take care of, after he left. Plus, by that time, I WAS involved in music once again, but I never did get to go to Juilliard. Ah well... Thanks for the reaction, Bill. Loved it!
Thank you for the comment and for sharing your story, my friend! Life is a zig zag- rarely does it go in a straight line. My favorite movie of all time is It's a Wonderful Life. Probably because I can relate to George Baily and how his life pulled him away from his dreams. By the way, our little girl is across from the Iron Maiden poster- only one of her ponytails can be seen on the far left of the screen 😁
@@BemusingBill Yes..."It's a Wonderful Life" -- one of my all-time faves, as well. "Princess Bride" passed it up, when it came out. 😀 I have now spotted that ponytail! Thank you!

Yes, very true. I don't know if there was a movie made about Rommel but sounds like it would be a good story to see onscreen.
