As others have commented, Aidus will bring you right up to date with where the band is now. They have experimented with a lot of different sounds while staying true to the folk metal sound. This one is a very old sound for them. One of my favourite bands, not just for the sound but also for their dedication to this very niche cultural sound - if a modern reimagination can be cultural. Inas Mona was the school for the druids in Wales that the Romans destroyed as part of their war against the Celts.

Outstanding! This is pure Simone at her best! The vocals are astounding and the music is complex and heavy. I also like the scale that it is written in - yes, definitely Middle-Eastern. I absolutely love the visuals. Anything associated with astronomy turns my head!

Such an incredible debut from Simone, and SO hugely anticipated! When she started teasing a new project on Instagram I hardly dared to dream it would actually be a solo album. And Aeterna sounds SO epic! Arjen and Simone did a live together right after the release and described it as a song to “marry” Epica and Ayreon’s fans. It’s so dramatic and atmospheric, I can almost picture it being the song in a trailer for a Disney space musical. It completely sets the stage for the album. Absolutely LOVE the epic choir element too-dunno if you caught it, but it’s all just Simone and John Jaycee’s layered vocals. There will be another single coming out before the full album release, and it’s their favorite song on the album, but they didn’t reveal which one it is. They also said there are some secret special guests beyond those currently listed-including a cello player, so maybe we’ll be getting an Apocalyptica feature??

Hello again Bill and thanks for more VOB! They (almost) always put their own stamp on covers and their enthusiasm is always a joy to watch! Unfortunately, they got so much nonsensical crap in their home country for being only a cover band, that they haven't performed any of their usual gems in the multiple shows they've done since returning home from the US. I'm hoping that they will bring a few out for Glastonbury and London this summer! (Their encore for their Oakland show was an awesome version of Chop Suey!)

This guy had so much talent, it's incredible. If he'd have someone putting the songs in a more accessible structure, he'd likely be one of the biggest artists in rock. But it's a joy to listen to his music as he simply had no limitations - free can do whatever comes out if his mind, which is amazing. That's the real advantage of living in our day and age. Talents have a chance to get seen and heard. We just need to get rid of all that social media noise, all those narcissists dragging all the attention to them, with meaningless, superficial, kind dumb content. I'm glad he got more exposure thanks to Ayreon. How many talents on UA-cam and Instagram only get a hundred or a few thousand likes and followers, while narcissists posting selfies and paid promotion get millions. I hope the crazy influencer crap breaks down, so people with real talent, petite with real content will finally be able to be heard, and to shine, without all the mind numbing noise of nonsense
