I wish I saw your video before starting to prep my car. I followed other methods that I didnt like Yours is perfect ! Your videos are a blessing. Thank you so much for taking the time to create these
For my PPG envirobase system it would be around $250 for materials if I used EC550 for the clear. If you went to your local jobber they would charge a bit more to mix it up for you and the gallon kit of EC550 is around $600. I believe he is on the sikkens scheme so pricing would be different.
If you watch the video you see how much it costs, the tools he uses and the paint. The cheapest paint is around $200 a gallon for one car that's the way it is. If the viewers don't understand all that they don't need to be painting cars it's not easy.
As a car customizer and painter who restores specialty cars you did an outstanding job on this NSX, i had the liberty of doing an inspection on an identical NSX two years ago and the bumper and hood also did not match and my client passed on the car. What lots of guys end up doing on these older collectible cars are quick shoddy repairs then they cover it with PPF which makes it even harder to see and know whats under the PPF if it is even original or not. Once again Brian outstanding content as always and this color is not easy to get right but from seeing this car outside it came out bang on perfect. FYI I also use the same IWATA for clearcoats best gun ever if your going after that flat final finish with less sanding and buff.
Thanks for those words! You definitely have to keep your standards at a high level working on these cars. In my mind I try and think of every possibility that can go wrong and correct it before hand. It’s been working so far. Thanks for the love
I don't think I've ever seen you clear a car that took forever. Is it the gun that makes you move that slow? It came out great ! Great match on the paint ! 👍👍
What the HECK!!!! WOW!!!! dude this is one of the hardest tri coats to get right and you NAILED IT. Would you ever consider going up to 800 grit for base coat / blend panels? Very good job 🎉
@@PaintSociety try 800 your next video... I use to use 800 and I'm probably going to go back to it. It makes that first coat of base look like absolute glass.
@@PaintSociety and absolutely man once again you nailed it. I really hope your being paid what your worth there man your skill is worth 50-75 an hour all day long. Not many painters could match this tri coat yellow
Nice video. I have a question in regards to body filler and primer. On my 66 Mustang I performed some minor body work and used Evercoat Z-Grip filler. My issue is that the filler is showing through my epoxy primer. I have put on 3 coats but you can still see the shadows. No raised surface just a shadow. I will eventually be spraying with a 2K urethane primer/surfacer before color. Should I worry about the body filler bleed through or do you think the 2K urethane and color will cover them?
My dream car😍 this was the first super car I saw in person with this color I remember being at the dealership as a kid trying to get in and the car salesman looked at me like why did you touch it. Loved this car ever since
Brian thanks for another great vid. On my paint job I was getting flakes of paint coming up from the masking foil around my paint area during spraying clear coat. The flakes were of the sealer and base I just sprayed. Do you know why that happens?
Would you recommend using the UV putty for filling set screw drill holes? Holes made when bonding a fiberglass flare to a steel panel? I have problems with the holes dipping when the sun is strong.
S.O.S. I ran out of basecoat before I had full coverage on a crown vic front bumper and sidemolding. It will be days before I can finish, and clearcoat it. Any suggestions ? God bless !
That looks great. I notice that you don't quote costs or prices for the work. Just out of curiosity if I wanted this done to a car I owned what should I expect to pay.
Hi, I'm from the UK and new to your channel and need recommendations on buying a durable clear lacquer. I need a product which is scratch resistant to minimise the chances of getting stone chips. Glasurit 923-447 was the direction I was pointed in but nowhere in the UK is selling that product, let alone the hardener or thinner which accompanies it. Other brands such as Deltron and Sikkens have been mentioned but I have no clue what's guaranteed to work besides the product I can not get a hold of.
I noticed that you paint a lot of cars with the panels still on. How well does that paint/clear the edges of the panels as it wraps around towards the backside? Is there a time when you pull all panels off and paint them separate from the chassis? Would love to hear your take!
Do primer/sealer colors effect the Basecoat finish? For example, RED basecoat applied on top of white, grey, black, red primers? Would the RED basecoat results come out lighter or darker based on primer/sealer color?
It is an amazing abrasive system, I switched over 2 years ago and haven't looked back:) I only wish they had dust extraction holes in their 3in discs, doing it manually with a hole puncher is a pain!
my gosh man, the level of skill is astounding. What can I do to find someone of your skill to paint my Integra? Bringing my car to south FL on a trailer would not be out of the question. Not anytime soon but someday in the near future hopefully. The last paint job was not a very good one, and I want so badly for it to have a proper quality job done. I'm not opposed to learning to paint a few small pieces, but wouldn't really trust myself to do the body work on the whole car.

@robertornelas2663 Do you just adjust off of the prime variant from your mixing scheme? I recently switched my shop over to Envirobase and matching has gotten extremely good but yellows and Mazda 46v are still a righteous pain!

can you use that putty to fix door edges or hood edges?, my car has 2 repaints and there is some door edge damage and hood edge damage, Thanks for the video
there seems to be a lot of paint at the edges so that is why I think they are damage, so maybe I will have to sand down the edge or something, if you have any video on this please share the link
I'm having difficulty getting my block sanding on every section of the car even/level throughout the entire car. Meaning this ... I block sand each section using guide coats and proper blocks, technique , etc. , But when I complete one section then move onto the next, I repeat and that section also comes out great , but then when I compare to the section I just did right next to this one, it's not even, level with each other. I'm not talking inches, not even centimeters, but I am a very detailed ocd prrson, and I'm talking milimetrrs.... Not necessarily enough difference to where a normal person would be able to tell, but enough of a variance where someone like me would be able to detect if looking extremely closely. Do u happen to have any advice or suggestions on how to remedy this or is this an unavoiadable thing
Hey Brian i just painted my car in garage i have NO expirience in painting it end up with few nibs and orange peel so i sand it with 1500grit 2000grit buffed it with 3D compound and clear still look dull any idea why??? Thank men i love your chanel..
Quick question did you tape and paint the black color on the bumper the same day you painted the yellow due to drying it on a high temperature in the booth Or it was the next day
I still do not understand how to match the colour with door when you blend the front end. When you look at the side , the front quarter panel should be different colour with door?
I've been watching a lot of your videos and I think I'm ready to tackle a DIY at home paint job, but the thing I keep getting stuck at is trying to figure out an air compressor. Yes but not a lot of paint was coming out but I noticed that same thing while editing haha
