Spoken like a true saleman, 10 pros & 0 cons. I've spoken to real people who moved here and their huge cons are traffic, crowds everywhere doing everything, biker week, golfers, beach goers, etc all associated with tourism which is only a 4-5 month imposition. Stay west of the intercoastal waterway and you're all set. Btw, I love MB & have been coming here since 1976!
Love this. Retired from northern Vermont... Canadian border northern Vermont. Although beautiful , it’s very cold and expensive! So glad to be here at The Grand Strand. Great weather, great taxes, kind people and so much to do. It’s a two day trip hone, but that’s not too, too bad. Definitely worth it.
Hey Jeremy, I enjoyed the video, I am 49 years old and I am also from Reading, PA. Go Red Knights. Anyhow, I been living in Maine for 22 years now. Granted we own near 50 acres, our property taxes are about $5000 a year. I live within a three mile radius of everything I need, so it works. Myrtle Beach does sound nice. Maybe in 10 years I can convince the wife to consider downsizing to there. Sand as opposed to snow sounds like a nice trade off to me.
We travel to Myrtle a lot because of family but we decided against retiring there because of the over developing and traffic. Nice to visit but I couldn't live there!
Jeremy, thanks for the fun video! I have fond memories of camping on the beach with the family in the 60s. Now that I am in my 60s maybe it would be fun to spend my retirement back at the beach? We use to collect fossilized shark teeth on the beach but I understand these have been gone for decades.
That is so cool! It is nice to hear that some things remain the same. I have wonderful childhood memories of South Carolina. Playing baseball in little league, and meeting Mickey Mantel and Bobby Richardson. Fishing in the Santee Cooper with Spanish Moss and water moccasins.
Where are the flood areas? Do they have any flood problems during hurricanes and other lesser storms? Do you have to buy flood insurance? How much.? Do they have the Homestead Exemption in Horry County? I like the area and thinking of retiring there. Nice area. Vacation there numerous times over the last 40 years. Love the golf courses.
Hey! Thanks for asking! I actually did a whole live video the other week on new construction communities as well as have a pros/cons video coming soon! Check out the live video from2 weeks ago.
Just do us all a favor and don't move here and continue to vote for politicians that want to spend spend spend. It never fails. Folks move from up north and then want us to change to the way you did it back home where the taxes are crazy high.
@@chip2407 I agree and what blows my mind, is "these so-called intelligent" yanks move to flee the high taxes, the regulations, and the politicians from UP NORTH and damn if they don't come down here and start votiing in the same sick LIBERAL TYPES that they fled from up North! That's what I would say is STUPID! And they try to label us Southern Folks as being the Idiots! Don't destroy the South like it is in the NORTH!
@@claudedalton8970 THANK YOU. I’m starting to notice all these northerners coming down and complaining about how republican it is. Why else is it so affordable and relaxed? Don’t California our south! Stay up there if you love it so much to keep voting that way.
Traffic in the tourist areas can be a little heavy at times. The same is true of the restaurants in that area. But if you go to the local spots, it's really not that bad. As for the bugs, yes, we have those and also humidity, but that is true of everywhere in the south.
@@jeremyblanton We are planning a vacation but the choices of places to stay is overwhelming. Do you have a video on Places to Stay? I did a search but could not find one.
@@deborahrabine9956 There definitely are a lot of choices in the area. The big thing to first decide is whether you want to be in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, or the southern end of the area. Once you figure that out, then you can pick places that fit your budget. In the northern end of the beach, people like North Beach Plantation, Ocean Creek, or Kingston Plantation. As you head south some, another great option is Dunes Village Resort.
Great video Jeremy! I dream of retiring to Myrtle Beach every day haha! The ONLY con I see is the traffic, but that is an easy trade off for all the Pro's of Myrtle Beach! Question: I keep hearing about how bad the crime is getting in Myrtle. Is this true/accurate, or are these stories overblown? Comments on the food: My family and I make it a point to have a meal at River City Burger every time we visit! We love that place!! Any way, thanks again for the great video! We LOVE Myrtle Beach and can't wait to visit again in about 5 weeks!!
crime is brought by the tourist market. They come to play, misbehave many of them, and do things they hope to not get caught for. They get caught, tourist area's, always bring heightened crimes around the tourist. Those can attract opportunistic people to make a buck, play, or bring their unsavory behaviors. The local residents the crime is low.

Keep South Carolina red for the love of God....seriously. Keep the south red. Don’t let it slip to the northern libs who vote the same thing they fled. It’s a parasite.

No! You can still find shark teeth down the beach! It's one of my son's favorite things to do!
