Please remember that this isn’t just a tourist town! Many many of us reside here and it’s our beach all year round, PLEASE PLEASE KEEP OUR BEACHES AND BEACH WATER CLEAN 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 there are trash cans all around set up for YOU to put your trash in not me!!! Just bring a small trash bag down with you and when finished sunning you can drop your own trash in the cans. We would so appreciate it ♥️

I always throw my trash out in those receptacles when I visit MB. I respect all the beaches that I visit, and I visit Myrtle Beach a lot too. I have plans to come back often this year. All I ask for is sunny warm weather.

I'm an overnight security guard/pool guy. We're glad you're here, we want you to have fun, but I was born and raised here, don't get so drunk you can't function, and don't get an attitude with security, 9 out of 10 if you're cool with us we'll give you some great pointers and look out for ya a little extra, I personally don't want you to get in trouble but there's only so much talking I can do before I gotta call somebody, I mean I live here after all, you think I don't understand the urge to party? Oh yeah, pick up behind yourselves, also, if you get in a pool and your eyes burn, it's WAY more likely that the PH is high NOT the Chlorine, just fun fact from the pool boy.

Another don't you should have is DON'T drop your guard out here, especially if you are a female. Myrtle Beach has one of the highest sex trafficking rates in the state of South Carolina. DON'T...please don't get drunk and start wandering the streets by yourself or without something to protect yourself with.

I blindly traveled to MB this past June for a week, it was my first visit to SC. We arrived just as the Country Music Festival was starting. We had no idea is was going on. Still had tons of fun. Beach wasn't packed during the day. Mostly stayed in our hotel room at night to avoid the rough and rowdy, which was fine we needed to rest after all the sun and sand. Days it rained we went to Ripleys believe it or not and another day went to the Aquarium.

Horry County is still one of the lowest-paying counties in the nation. People make more money driving Uber and Lyft that is why it's a staff shortage because those workers are doing gig work and not resort work any longer. Also, some resorts need to invest in fixing up properties. It's shameful for some rooms to look like the Brady Bunch era, especially with all that money those resorts make in summer.

Went to Myrtle Beach last summer. All the hotels charged ridiculous prices. As much as 800 a night. They hurt the shows because people cant afford those prices and leave early or don't visit. We would not have gone if we knew the gouging going on. Cheaper hotels miles away were booked . They lost revenue to the 5 shows food and other attractions that we would have purchased. We turned around and went back to Florida and stayed in a hotel on the ocean for a LOT less ! We wont be back.

We heard a lot about Mrytle Beach so we were so excited to go. We got tired of going to servierville, TN, pigeon forge, Gatlinburg. Which is 30 minutes away from where I live.
Once we got to myrtle beach we regret it so bad.
We could get a nice Luxury cabin in pigeon forge for less.
      Own Jacuzzi, own swimming pool.
I will never ever go again.
The locals are rude af with tourists even walking around.
I am not racist but we were the minority there no other race but African American.
I have never ever met rude ppl like them, no respect at all. Always trying to look for a God damn reason to start a fight.
We were waiting for our turn to cross the street with the had sign which literally says on the sign to not cross and the black family behind us starting saying, " fucking move, fucking move or I will move you" if they wanted to cross they could literally could we weren't blocking anything. We were 3 ppl and rhey were 6.
Walking down the street looks like a bunch of prostitutes and guys just going around with loud music and been rude.
      Worst experience ever.
If you want to have a good time with your family and been treated nice come to Gatlinburg or pigeon forge, TN

I stay at Ocean Annie’s it’s 20 minutes from North Myrtle beach and away from Broadway. If you book months in advance you will find good deals.
They also have bedroom suits if you need extra beds. I paid about 1900$ for 6 nights.
If you book close to your arrival date ( if it’s in the summer months) it’s going to be way more expensive. I paid about 1k for 3 nights last year at Ocean Annie’s for a regular two beds.
I got smart and booked early. I always make sure it’s fully refundable up to 2 weeks before the date.
Ocean Annie’s is also directly on the beach. When you walk out the back of the building you literally are walking right into sand. The room we stayed in was clean, but the room we booked wasn’t the same room we got.. the maintenance man said that they use newly refurnished apartments they have in the building and put up pictures for the rooms to make them more appealing. But the room was still nice and clean I was amazed that their wasn’t any sand in the floors from previous guests. I saw the house cleaners all the time cleaning rooms too. We had a great ocean view.
They have two pools and 2 hot tubes. The hot tubes are at the inside pool which is right by the door you walk out of to go to the beach. The hot tubes was little too hot for me but my friend enjoyed them.
The lazy river they have I do not recommend. It’s too small and too narrow.

DONT hang out with locals you dont know, we will steal your stuff. DONT buy any local drugs, have over a dozen friends that have died since middle school from laced drugs. DONT walk near roads, theres ALOT of Drunk Drivers, have many friends dead from being hit by cars.

If you want to go to the beach ( Myrtle Beach State Park) and you have 4+ in your family, it might actually be cheaper to purchase a season's pass, if you plan on visiting a few days. The state park has hiking trails, educational things for the kids, clean bathrooms, a souvenir shop ( with snacks)...a pier for fishing, and the only time I have seen crowds ( maybe) is on the weekends. When in Myrtle Beach, I pay more attention to the drivers over the traffic lights. When crossing kings highway don't count on drivers to stop at a red light or stop sign. It's better to cross when you don't see any cars. I learned to cross near a corner of a side street to be sure there were no cars comming down the side street that might take the corner and hit you. I saw so many foolish accidents around traffic lights there. Fun place to be though. You can actually buy beer n wine coolers at 3am on a Sunday!🤣

The surf fishing law is total bull shit. Almost every surf fisherman I know is on the beach before the sun comes up which is 2-3 hours before said swimmers are even thinking about waking up. If a fisherman is already in a spot go around them there is a ton of beach for you to sit on don’t be an asshole. Most surf guys are only out for 4-5 hours to fish the most effective tide you can swim somewhere else.

    • @MG-fn9xw
      @MG-fn9xw 2 роки тому

You don’t mention the fact that your line begins to slowly move parallel to the shore increasing the width of your fishing endeavor on one of the most popular beaches in eastern US. Not to mention the bait your using is attracting natural predators, the predators are already out there, the guys standing in the surf fishing are just luring them in when there’s literally thousands of children around. Another thing you don’t mention is that there are multiple piers made JUST FOR FISHERMEN. Go to a beach that isn’t a MAJOR tourist attraction buddy. You sound half ignorant considering there are piers just for ppl like you. And if you don’t want to fish the pier, get a cheap boat an hit the inlets, unless you are just a cheap scape wanting to complain. It’s frustrating when there’s about 4 ppl lined up with fishing rods on a highly popular beach. Go to the pier or go somewhere like edisto or find a hidden area

Also don't laugh too loud. Back in the eighties the owner of the company my friend worked for treated his staff to a weekend in Myrtle beach. My friend had to finish a project so he flew down to MB with the boss later. He met up with the staff around 10:00 at a bar. The group then moved to another place. On the way they were stopped by the police just as my friend burst out laughing from a joke. He was arrested for drunk and disorderly and put in the drunk tank for a few hours. He hadn't had a drink yet by the way. He told me he didn't mind so much getting arrested, but he was really pissed about being the only sober person in the truck tank.

I was stationed in Myrtle Beach from 1984 - 1990 at the old base. A friend of mine from the shop was downtown drinking one weekend during the summer. He was drunk, but smart enough to realize he shouldn't drive back to base. He left his car parked downtown and started walking down Business 17 towards the Air Force Base. He got all the way back to a point where he was about 100 yards from turning up into the main gate when a Myrtle Beach cop pulled over to ask him why he was walking along the road at 3:00am. When he told the cop what the deal was....the asshole arrested him for public intoxication. He was SO PISSED OFF over it....when he got into court in front of the judge he told him this whole event did nothing but make him a drunk driver from that point forward. The whole thing finally got thrown out after they realized he was serious and the whole thing was BS! The police were HORRIBLE during the 80's towards anyone in the military. The community cried and complained when the base was finally put on the closure list, because financially it hurt the community for a while until they recovered. One of the many reasons listed for closing Myrtle Beach AFB was the lack of community support and the treatment by the community towards active duty members.
