Horry County is still one of the lowest-paying counties in the nation. Ocean Annie’s is also directly on the beach. When you walk out the back of the building you literally are walking right into sand. The room we stayed in was clean, but the room we booked wasn’t the same room we got.. the maintenance man said that they use newly refurnished apartments they have in the building and put up pictures for the rooms to make them more appealing. But the room was still nice and clean I was amazed that their wasn’t any sand in the floors from previous guests. I saw the house cleaners all the time cleaning rooms too. We had a great ocean view. They have two pools and 2 hot tubes. The hot tubes are at the inside pool which is right by the door you walk out of to go to the beach. The hot tubes was little too hot for me but my friend enjoyed them. The lazy river they have I do not recommend. It’s too small and too narrow.
Stay away. Save your money, health, sanity and needless risk of crime, disease, accidents, traffic jams, tourist tax...(Don't do anything in Myrtle beach.)
This is my 3rd year coming down. I just love it there so much. every time so far I've woke up right before sunrise and watch the sunrise over the ocean. It's the most peaceful place ever at the moment. One day I hope to live there.
As someone that Grew up in MB and the area from 93-2014.. DONT go inland from the strip past 10 p.m. DONT Leave your house during one of the bike weeks or mustang week. DONT hang out with locals you dont know, we will steal your stuff. DONT buy any local drugs, have over a dozen friends that have died since middle school from laced drugs. DONT walk near roads, theres ALOT of Drunk Drivers, have many friends dead from being hit by cars. Honestly, if you can afford to, DONT Myrtle Beach.. Garden City is much nicer and safer. Go to Brookgreen, its gorgeous. Go to huntington state park, it beautiful and has a castle.
As a member of the mustang community I can say that we are not there to hurt or bother anyone. It's just a bunch of mustang nerds that will do anything to help anyone 💯❤️
Went to Myrtle beach in 1950 with my grandmother. Very few on the beach and the town was tiny. There were trees on the shore and the sand was beautiful.
If you want to go to the beach ( Myrtle Beach State Park) and you have 4+ in your family, it might actually be cheaper to purchase a season's pass, if you plan on visiting a few days. The state park has hiking trails, educational things for the kids, clean bathrooms, a souvenir shop ( with snacks)...a pier for fishing, and the only time I have seen crowds ( maybe) is on the weekends. You won't be disappointed.
When in Myrtle Beach, I pay more attention to the drivers over the traffic lights. When crossing kings highway don't count on drivers to stop at a red light or stop sign. It's better to cross when you don't see any cars. I learned to cross near a corner of a side street to be sure there were no cars comming down the side street that might take the corner and hit you. I saw so many foolish accidents around traffic lights there. Fun place to be though. You can actually buy beer n wine coolers at 3am on a Sunday!🤣
I am from SC and my husband grew up around MB. It use to be an amazing place to go. No longer. It's nasty, drugs and sex trafficking. So sad. Wish they would make it great again.
You're not wrong about that. I've routinely gone tanning at a tanning salon for a few years straight, but yet after a day on a dolphin boat and the beach, I got sun poisoning!
Biggest tip ever. You have no business being on the boulevard after 10pm especially on the south avenue. Back streets off the boulevard, Chester, Flag, Withers,Yaupon, are all no go’s.
In the mid Eighties, I visited Myrtle Beach. It was during both Shriner AND Biker week! Talk about BUSY! I remember seeing a Shriner hanging onto his Fez on the back of a Harley Davidson on Ocean Blvd. at 1 AM on Saturday...
.... I've been living here for over 30 years... the beaches are great....I've lived in Hawaii, gulf coast, and west coast... I must say these are nice beaches for families and walking... not surfing.... food is awesome if you look for the locally owned restaurants... lots of golfing and nightlife... if drinking is your thing... dont do that in myrtle... go to Wilmington, NC they have great pub crawls in the classic downtown
The sand and length of the beaches of Hawaii are inferior to Myrtle beach... Hawaiian sunsets are the best in the world though... If you want the worst of both go to the go to the Gulf of Mexico... And I have actually lived many years in Waipahu, Myrtle Beach, and Gulf Port... So I speak out of experience
Does anyone remember Magic Harbor in Surfside that opened in 1954 and closed in 1994 was a British Themed Amusement Park that once had the World's largest Ferris Wheel, kind of a Pre Skywheel. There's 2 campgrounds located there now about 4 miles south of Myrtle Beach on old US 17,there might be a Light House Magic Harbor sign still there. It was located where Pirateland and Lakewood Campgrounds are now.You might want to check it out.It bite the dust like the Pavilion and Hardrock but it lasted for 40 years much longer than the Hardrock. It was also nicknamed Tragic Park,a stagecoach tipped over killing one injuring several others,in 1974,a 13 year old lady was nearly decapitated standing up on the Rollercoaster and died from injuries,in 1976,a disgruntled employee robben and murdered the owner and his son.
Know it well. We stay at Pirateland and you could walk from Pirateland to the Majic Harbor on a path in 5 minutes. We started going in 1984 and if I remember right Hugo was it's demise. I don't remember going back after that. It wasn't a huge amusement park but it was nice. There are a lot of old pictures on the internet of it. Every once in a while on eBay there is a park map for sale. Usually expensive.
I remember going there as a kid..my uncle lived next door at Oceanside Village..back in the 70's! I went "ice" skating there..but it wasn't ice..lol..felt like plastic🤷♀️..I didn't know about all that either! I'm trying to remember a lazy pool park that was so awesome back in the day..had to be somewhere down on that end...you would start at the top & slowly float down getting stuck in the wading pools until another float would come & push you out..I was so young I can't remember. I live here now..moved down as soon as I turned 21...lol!
Beautiful, peaceful, and much fun to do. I have been going down there for 30 years. Some places I miss no longer. My favorite spot was Pavilion and Attic ballroom dancing in MB. Good old day. I'm planning to move out of NYC my hometown.
Lived in Mrytle Beach for one year.If your planning a vacation i wouldn't choose Mrytle Beach. Couldn't wait for my lease was up. Very high in crime especially during spring break and the town was dirty and had alot of homeless.Plus they've had a few people dissappear during spring break. So don't send your kids alone.
I was say the Don'ts are don't go there as it has the 3rd worst crime in the country and Don't move their as their minimum wage is still a little over $7 and hour which lowers all wages in the state.
For anyone wondering about the holes laws. Let’s put this in prospective. We had a kid die here in Ocean County NJ this summer when he dug a hole almost 8 feet deep and it caved in on him.
I have one, make sure you don't drive a car in bad mechanical condition especially on the strip where the traffic moves at a snail's pace because it will overheat very quick and you will cause traffic to come to a halt and some people get really mad due to it. I've seen more than my share of fights in the road due to it.
As a kid I remember my family being able to bring one of those single person blue and red rafts in the ocean - had to be inflated. When I went back as an adult, the lifeguard said we can't use those in the ocean. Do they only allow body boards with a wrist strap now? If so, why?
You never want to use inflatable in ocean. Couple years ago I saw a nice calm spot in ocean. Went out to just float. Within 5 min. I was almost out of site of my family. Fought like hell to paddle back in. Seemed like forever. I'm a strong swimmer. I made it in, but spiked a big fever that nite. Called emts. They said typical for all the adrenalin in my system. Now I rarely go in above my waist. No rafts.
After years of this being a go-to place for us, there is NOTHING in MB anymore that makes going there worth the aggravation of dealing with long waits, iffy service, junky stores and arrogant-inconsiderate-entitled people.
(NOT NEW), BUT very important: Stay OFF the dunes, also illegal. Do NOT pick the sea oats, illegal. Do NOT disturb or touch sea turtle nests or eggs, illegal both state & federally. Don't ever swim or surf within 500 feet from any pier, obviously extremely dangerous. AND PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO TIP YOUR RESTAURANT AND BAR STAFF (More than 10% is definitely appreciated). DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!!!
I live 25 miles from MB and work in MB. If you are a female DO NOT go out by yourself at night and even during the day park close to the building particularly under cameras if possible. MB is not safe anywhere. If you think you are being followed drive to a cop/EMS, and have someone on the phone. If you are being followed on foot find a store employee do not go to your car yourself. Keep you kids with you!
What are some of the resorts or hotels to stay away from as far as cleanliness? I plan on visiting Conway to check out coastal Carolina with my son in the very near future we’ve stayed at some pretty bad hotels in the past I had to scrub down the whole room before we could even lay your head on the pillow to sleep
The surf fishing law is total bull shit. Almost every surf fisherman I know is on the beach before the sun comes up which is 2-3 hours before said swimmers are even thinking about waking up. If a fisherman is already in a spot go around them there is a ton of beach for you to sit on don’t be an asshole. Most surf guys are only out for 4-5 hours to fish the most effective tide you can swim somewhere else.
You don’t mention the fact that your line begins to slowly move parallel to the shore increasing the width of your fishing endeavor on one of the most popular beaches in eastern US. Not to mention the bait your using is attracting natural predators, the predators are already out there, the guys standing in the surf fishing are just luring them in when there’s literally thousands of children around. Another thing you don’t mention is that there are multiple piers made JUST FOR FISHERMEN. Go to a beach that isn’t a MAJOR tourist attraction buddy. You sound half ignorant considering there are piers just for ppl like you. And if you don’t want to fish the pier, get a cheap boat an hit the inlets, unless you are just a cheap scape wanting to complain. It’s frustrating when there’s about 4 ppl lined up with fishing rods on a highly popular beach. Go to the pier or go somewhere like edisto or find a hidden area
Thanks for this Video of Dont's, However was wondering if there is a rule about your own Umbrellas and Tents on beach this summer? Thanks so much! Have an Awesome Summer!
Don't tell anyone you birthday or exact city where you live,it's people with devices that spit out your bank account information and they will rob your account. THIS SAVED ME THIS WEEKEND. The devices look like phone charger but has led read out and blinks off #s
We lived for 12 years in Conway, (suburb of Myrtle Beach). Hated the traffic and 5 minute traffic lights on 501. 18 miles from job at the beach could take an hour because of God awful traffic. Housing prices are ridiculous for a small home and a spit of land. moved to little Marion about 50 miles inland. No such thing as a traffic jam. 😊
@@snausages43 there was a free concert tonight with a good band right off of main street. There is free movie night at the park once a month and twice a month there's a farmer's market downtown. Its not a lot but it's more than enough if you want a quiet life.

I'll take your answer on the air.
if you want a place to stay that while crowded not too crowded id recommend ocean lakes family campground . it has its own pool and ist too far from the city, just north of it. its about an hour or two to get to there on foot and like maybe 2, 3 minutes by car
Myrtle Beach used to be a beautiful place but it's becoming overcrowded and the traffic is getting bad. They have a serious problem with homeless people coming from different states to squat and beg Tourist for money.
@@Rabid_Turtle there's a lot more homelessness than you think and the reason why you don't see much of it is because they living in these new abandoned construction area and people's backyards.
Also don't laugh too loud. Back in the eighties the owner of the company my friend worked for treated his staff to a weekend in Myrtle beach. My friend had to finish a project so he flew down to MB with the boss later. He met up with the staff around 10:00 at a bar. The group then moved to another place. On the way they were stopped by the police just as my friend burst out laughing from a joke. He was arrested for drunk and disorderly and put in the drunk tank for a few hours. He hadn't had a drink yet by the way. He told me he didn't mind so much getting arrested, but he was really pissed about being the only sober person in the truck tank.
I was stationed in Myrtle Beach from 1984 - 1990 at the old base. A friend of mine from the shop was downtown drinking one weekend during the summer. He was drunk, but smart enough to realize he shouldn't drive back to base. He left his car parked downtown and started walking down Business 17 towards the Air Force Base. He got all the way back to a point where he was about 100 yards from turning up into the main gate when a Myrtle Beach cop pulled over to ask him why he was walking along the road at 3:00am. When he told the cop what the deal was....the asshole arrested him for public intoxication. He was SO PISSED OFF over it....when he got into court in front of the judge he told him this whole event did nothing but make him a drunk driver from that point forward. The whole thing finally got thrown out after they realized he was serious and the whole thing was BS! The police were HORRIBLE during the 80's towards anyone in the military. The community cried and complained when the base was finally put on the closure list, because financially it hurt the community for a while until they recovered. One of the many reasons listed for closing Myrtle Beach AFB was the lack of community support and the treatment by the community towards active duty members.
You have to fill in the holes you dig for the baby sea turtles also ! When they hatch they crawl out to the ocean as do the momma turtles crawl up to the dunes from the water to lay there eggs. Either way a hole could kill the baby’s they have enough other predators to worry about. The mothers can get stuck in a hole and that would also be bad. 😀please fill in your holes!
Come to Panama City Beach, Destin and Fort Walton Beach instead. Much better and alot cleaner and no long waiting anywhere. Still have the stupid trucks though.
We come down every year for the past 10 years now and it used to be the most affordable vacation as we are from New England and everything here is so expensive, but we have noticed in the past 2 years everything seems to have doubled if not tripled in price. From food, to renting a boat(was $450 for 8 hours every year until last year same company we always use was raised to $1,000 for 8 hours just allowed in the inter coastal and they told that it wasn’t Covid related because they were extremely busy all thru Covid he basically told us he could raise the prices so he did and now our favorite activity is off the table), to hotels all of it has gotten so expensive so do you have any secrets on how to save money and still have a fun, great trip? Would love to see a video about that. Very happy to have found your channel ✌🏻
Glad to know the name. We were at Pawleys lsst weekend and drove to MB to check it out. I laughed so hard at those stupid trucks, oh my word, hilarious. Good to know what they're called.
I'm a local from Little River. I absolutely agree that booking a hotel farther inland or simply a fair distance outside Myrtle Beach is a much better means to visit the SC coast than staying in MB.
I live off 3rd ave south. I do not go out after dark. If I go to the beach at all I only go to MB State Park or Huntington beach state park. Only camping families go there. Thugs don't go camping.
This might common knowledge to some but for me however not so much…. While at the beach, are the beach chairs first come first serve? Do you need to have your own? Do you rent them?
Most people bring their own chairs. Any chairs that you see open on the beach that are not for personal use are always for rent and you usually pay through the lifeguard.

My grandfather bought Second row lot in garden city in the 1940s, for $100, he did not buy on ocean front because it was $150.
@@watermonster9978 lol!!!
Damn, I went for a few days during bike week and went specifically for mustang week in the same year and didn't have problems like that :(
As a member of the mustang community I can say that we are not there to hurt or bother anyone. It's just a bunch of mustang nerds that will do anything to help anyone 💯❤️
What about North Myrtle Beach?
Does the state park have a boat launch ??
@@casimirkotarba5186 unfortunately no
You make it look sound way better than it is.
Want to make it great again Get rid of the MAGAts
It's the #1 crime city in SC. People go missing there and never found!
GOSH !
A SHAME too !
I had so much fun in the
70'S and 80's
Definitely Don't forget the Sunscreen!!!
A bad sunburn on day one of a week's vacation at Myrtle Beach makes for a rough rest of the week
Can’t just be out vibin?
@@zachlangable it’s incredibly dangerous, MB has one of the highest trafficking rates in the country.
Great video! Can't wait to go back this summer!
NOTHING can touch an Hawaiian beach ...NOTHING
The sand and length of the beaches of Hawaii are inferior to Myrtle beach... Hawaiian sunsets are the best in the world though... If you want the worst of both go to the go to the Gulf of Mexico... And I have actually lived many years in Waipahu, Myrtle Beach, and Gulf Port... So I speak out of experience
@@rieriec.36 Well if you want country fun it can. You know like walking laughing making fun of tourist kind of fun then yes.

I didn’t know all that , can’t you do a video about it for us
Yeah we use to skate in there in the late 80s
I grew up in MB and was about 4 when it closed. I had asked my parents a few years later and it was due to a kid dying on a ride there ='(
Beautiful, peaceful, and much fun to do. I have been going down there for 30 years. Some places I miss no longer. My favorite spot was Pavilion and Attic ballroom dancing in MB. Good old day. I'm planning to move out of NYC my hometown.
Watch yourself on the back Street behind Ocean Blvd near down town
The waist crossing the beach. That's why I would find accommodations south of Garden City Pier.
I grew up on the grand strand and this stuff is so spot on!
Deep hole law is because the sea turtles can get stuck in them when coming up to lay eggs.
ALSO MAKE SURE TO DO RESEARCH ON THE PLACES YOU’RE STAYING AT
For anyone wondering about the holes laws. Let’s put this in prospective. We had a kid die here in Ocean County NJ this summer when he dug a hole almost 8 feet deep and it caved in on him.
Besides being a hazard to humans they are a hazard to sea turtles that may come to the beach to lay eggs or the hatchlings may fall into the holes.
Sounds like he win the Darwin award and did us all a favor

Thank you for the advice on the s squatted trucks
ICYMI... North Carolina and Virginia have both made squatted trucks illegal to drive on the streets.
I'm from sc and I love all of your videos keep them coming
I remember it used to rain alot in Myrtle Beach and we quit going.
I love Myrtle Beach! Was there in 2018. Would love to live there!
In my experience, none of this is unjustly enforced. Good people in mb 👌
Can't wait to get there this summer to relax with my family,,,,‼️🤪
I have one, make sure you don't drive a car in bad mechanical condition especially on the strip where the traffic moves at a snail's pace because it will overheat very quick and you will cause traffic to come to a halt and some people get really mad due to it. I've seen more than my share of fights in the road due to it.
As a kid I remember my family being able to bring one of those single person blue and red rafts in the ocean - had to be inflated. When I went back as an adult, the lifeguard said we can't use those in the ocean. Do they only allow body boards with a wrist strap now? If so, why?
Never heard that and live here
You never want to use inflatable in ocean. No rafts.
Yeah I remember to the blue and red rafts they were fun

After years of this being a go-to place for us, there is NOTHING in MB anymore that makes going there worth the aggravation of dealing with long waits, iffy service, junky stores and arrogant-inconsiderate-entitled people.

(NOT NEW), BUT very important:
Stay OFF the dunes, also illegal.
Never feed the seagulls!!!!!!

Is the Georgetown Light house/sea shell cruise worth a visit?
Thanks for this Video of Dont's, However was wondering if there is a rule about your own Umbrellas and Tents on beach this summer? Thanks so much! Have an Awesome Summer!

This is kinda helpful since I’m going soon
The holes on the beach being filled in are not for the people, they are because sea turtles get stuck in those holes.

Well said Mr. Myrtle.
I concur to be up early! You're at the beach!! No time to sleep!
