    Still relevant - the "just put preasure on and avoid being hit in the face by the lid"-trick completely saved my bacon yesterday :)

    If I could give you a million likes - I would. That technique to pop the lid is so brilliant in its simplicity. Thanks for sharing, that has made my day.

    Gday Gash.. received the larger diameter seal for the fermzilla lid.. sorted.. held 10 psi all night long.. happy camper now..
    your tip on removing the lid with a tad of gas does the trick too... keep up the good work mate.. cheers

    Great tip on the lid is stuck. Will be doing that way from now onwards. Glad I did a test brew had issues with leaking lid, and also from spunding valve ball lock part.
    A new duotight ball lock disconnect solved that issue. I like the fact its one less part too less to go wrong and far more compact (KL20756)
    Cheers

    it might be necessary to lube under the o ring because there are two sides to it, you can feel that by rolling the ring between your fingers you will notice it "flipping" It may be why it leaks sometimes and reseating with all that lube you put on solves it. I learned the hard way that overtighting offers no benefit in sealing since the seal is made between the flanges. thanks for all your real world demonstrations much better than the manufactures squeaky clean demos 😃

    Just got my firmzilla and had a leak around the top cap.
    Took the seal off an used fine sandpaper on the welded seams where the seal sits as there was a very small step in the seam ......... no more leaks!!

      Same here, got a leak in top cap. Its not a big step in seem, but it will never seal properly if there is one. i used a fine nail-file, and was careful :-)

    I posted about the magnet idea on one of your videos and posted about it on the FB homebrew page. Though I will drag the magnet down the side so the hops don’t float in the wort and are fully submerged, they can then be taken out again by just dragging the magnet back up the side again. Being able to take the hops out is useful if your doing an early dry hop for biotransformation, don’t want to leave the hops in for too long and your not under any time pressure to get the wort off the hops and into a keg.

      G'day Keith not really trying to talk people into getting one, just trying to help the people not panic if they get a small leak. Cheers mate!!

    Another way to drop hop is to remove the gas post, insert a funnel and tip hops in.. not personally a fan of the magnet method as the off gassing during fermentation drives off some of those aromatics..

    The magnet is a good idea for dry hopping

    Just brewed into my new fermzilla. Everything seems to be screwed on tight. I attached a sounding valve and left it closed. Gravity has dropped .015 points so far but there's no reading on the gauge attached to the spending valve - guess I have a leak somewhere?

    Hey mate great video! So got a question, my fermentation fridge shat itself. Can't find another fridge that'll fit the fermzilla. Got any ideas or recommendations?

    Please remind me what the two cleaners are that you use all the time. You put in two scoops of one and one scoop of another. Thanks.

      2 scoops was Sodium Percarbonate, and the single was a generic PBW, though I often use Tricleanium which is sugar soap, the single one was just to add some soap to break down any oils or grease, the sodium percarbonate chews up organic matter. Cheers!

    Have you fermented under pressure? If so, how does that impact transferring the beer directly? I’m sure you have to relieve the overall pressure build up but is foaming an issue since the beer is carbonated? Any tips? Thanks!

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому

      You need to keep everything roughly the same pressure especially the receiving keg, it just has to be a touch under of course for transfer, but go slow for the first 5 litres at least then you can speed it up a bit, once the dip tube is well and truly covered. Cheers mate. I rarely carb in the fermzilla, but no reason not too. Cheers!

    Does having a magnet in the beer have any affect on the brew?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork

      You can get plastic covered magnets like you use in starters, ie. Stir bars Cheers!

    Hey mate, when you say a "tad" of pressure, what are we thinking? I don't want to add too much a blow the lid hahaha

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  3 роки тому +1

      I don’t do anything much over 10psi, but 5 psi is probably more than enough, start low, see how you go! Cheers!
