- Today i take a couple of Rump Roast cuts and cook them in the slow cooker, I then make a gravy from the remaining drippings. In this video I freeze dry both and reconstitute for a taste test. Amazing
When I rehydrate beef I use a beef stock cube in the rehydration water, helps to bring back a bit more flavour.
Great videos btw, subbed.
I just bought a f d . Thank you.. learning, watching as much as I can
Congratulations!
Ha! I'm watching this in my dining room next to my freeze dryer and I heard the freeze dryer beep in this video and I thought it was mine! 🤦♀️🤣😅
YUM-O! John this looks so friggen delish!!! 🤤 I don't have a freeze-dryer yet and I'm saving up but good lord your vids make me want one RIGHT NOW!
All science and freeze drying aside, you are an experienced cook, as far as I can see, taking basic ingredients and creating delicious looking, wholesome comfort foods. If there is ever a shtf event, we should meet, and open a soup kitchen. Thank you for another awsome vid. Still waiting on my units. Paitently. Lol.
i have had nothing but trouble with them.good product the worse customer service they are thieves.
Wow, if experienced means bachelor that needs to cook thank you! LOL
ashy, what kind of problems are you having? I always appreciate your comments
You should try Italian beef, and peppercinis 🤟🤐😎
You need a side of your freeze dried mashed potatoes with this!!
Oh Yes
Thanks John looks good.
That will be something I do. I wonder if you could have used the excess water from beef to start your gravy rehydrate? Might hold on to a bit more of the beefy goodness. :)
Thanks Greg, my Roast had plenty of flavor
@@JohnInBibs I have no doubt on the taste. I will be trying this out. I'd just seen a few videos that would reconstitute using beef broth and happened to notice that the rehydration on the beef looked like beef broth again. LOL Just call my beef greedy. LOL
;)
Looks yummy!
Thank you 😋
Looks pretty good!
Love your videos
Thank You!
Did you make gravy with just adding flour?corn starch? or made a rue with butter and flour?
I brought the beef stock to a boil, I made a slurry of cornstarch and cold water, poured the slurry into the stock and continued boiling until it reached the consistency I like. I could have used flour the same way
I did steaks, hamburgers and turkey and those soaked up the water like a sponge. I reconstituted the steak and burger in a marinade solution and they were wonderful!! Can't wait till spring when I can try some of these wonderful things you are doing!!
Great idea!
Did you make hamburger Patties?
@@Bee-Kind-Baker Yes, hamburgers, and I am doing more today. Sometimes I want a burger and don't want to thaw some out and then I have a full pound of burger to deal with so with Freeze drying them I can reconstitute and have an individual burger for a meal. I love it!
Can flat cut corned beef be freeze dried ? I know it can be a fatty cut of meat I can find any information on this.
Do you keep the gravy separate and add it in with your beef package to store for individual servings?
Yes, that is the way to do it. Rehydrate the gravy separately
thank you. will do. 😊
Why not freeze-dry the beef and gravy together, or reconstitute them together?
because the beef requires more water than the gravy, If I did them together I would end up with watery gravy instead of the nice thick gravy. The way I like it ;o)
hay dude,i just wanted to let you know harvest wright made things great
by sending me a new premier pump and a oil less pump to compare side by
side.ill let you know who wins.p.s.the ceo told me the oil less pump has
a 50% breakdown/failure rate....
I knew they would make it right, great news
How did you get them to send you both pumps to compare? Which did better? We have an oilless on order. Did not know it had that bad of a track record!
Strain the broth
sos
shit on a shingle.
