@daniel Taylor. Yes, l agree too. You have to raise your leg higher because the scooter is leaning away from you which makes you tired much faster. Standing to the side and the bike kicks back and you aren't prepared for it
I was raised in a family of motorcyclists, with friends who were motorcyclists, on motorcycles that had kickstart only. Not until UA-cam did I ever see anyone kneel on the seat or stand to one side to start a bike. It's hard to imagine a more precarious way to kickstart a bike, much less avoid kickbacks and losing your balance.
The ones that leave their foot on the kicker for an extra second or two after it hits...they’re the ones thats never been flipped backwards from a harley kicker lol.
You do know that on big twins the kick starter disengages at the bottom of the stroke, if you kick it thru, right? The guys who get kicked back are the ones who don't kick it all the way thru or let up on it to soon...
Hank Gureski I stand corrected. Preciate it. Good info. If I’d know that back in the late 80’s when i had my 74 XLCH my knee probably wouldn’t have got bent backwards.

all great bikes in US and Japan. Great custom scenes. Sadly in Germany not many old harley engines. And if yes very expensive and hard to chop because of legal reasons
whats with them not running any air filters, yea less drag going in but that will suck dirt and sand from that front tire and wear that poor engine out early
most of the times these are custom bikes which don't get started that often so for starting it's easier with no ait filter on them. But for riding them you should put them on
Well them old Harley-Davidson bikes back then was LUCKY 🍀 TO get 30,000 miles before they needed an overhaul this is no joke the tolerances were so loose they had to redesign their motors to last back then they were the most unreliable motorbikes you could buy so the rice burners taught them a lesson on tighter tolerances how it gave you longer lasting engines that last and don’t leave oil puddles everywhere that’s a fact ask any old Harley Rider.
@@firstnamelastname9603 i seriously doubt this claim. Like, SERIOUSLY doubt your "perfect bores". The advent of filters was for a reason, and unless you make so much power that the motor is trying to vacuum in that air filter, you need it. There is no downside to running one, their main purpose being keeping dirt and dust out of the motor. The amount of boneheads on the internet is staggering.
For the same reason they have no rear suspension, tiny fuel tanks, thick front wheels or no electrics: because these bikes are just for show, it doesn't matter how they ride.

The Harley motor was designed to run on roughly 35psi oil pressure at highway speeds. And around 7psi at idle (1000rpm) With that being said I think the last guy in this video could still set his idle alittle lower. All in the name of sounding cool no matter what the expense...lol
I was thinking the same thing. My first four Harley’s were all Iron head Sportsters. My right knee was always sore. When ever I would walk, or I should say limp into a bar, people would ask me what year Sportster do I ride. Great times for sure.

Most modern low end carburetor motorcycles still have kickstarters included. They make great bases for custom projects.
