    I did this hike 31 years ago and it was spectacular! I'll be 71 in a couple of weeks and doubt I would ever be able to do so again so I greatly enjoyed hiking along with you.! GREAT video! Thank you.

      WOW!! 31 years ago?! That's awesome.. I imagine Zion was much less crowded back then compared to these days.
      I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thx for watching!

      @@conorkcarroll Yes, the hike and the whole park was significantly less crowded and no permits were need for Angel's Landing. My first Zion visit was in 1982 (no Angel's Landing hike that time) and it was even less crowded then. People have really discovered this gem in the years since. Thanks again for sharing the video!

    Gorgeous park and trails - It’s great that you filmed a hike in real time. Love it. Since the camera has no peripheral vision though, I was hoping you’d angle it off to the side once in a while and above you so we could see how high the rock walls were in front of you. Really gives you a good idea of how crowded the trails are- what time of day was this, so I can avoid it? 🫤

    • @conorkcarroll
      @conorkcarroll  9 місяців тому

      We started the trail I believe around 9am.. definitely the earlier you start the less crowded it will be! But depending what time of the year it is if you have to take the shuttle from the visitor center you can only leave as early as the shuttle starts running. As for elevation gain it's about 1,800ft!

    • @judyclark8653
      @judyclark8653 9 місяців тому

      @@conorkcarrollYeah, I’d be more inclined to start at dawn, but I’ll check the shuttle times - even the first one is probably crowded. So many foreign accents - wish US citizens had priority like they’re doing in, I think, Michigan with state residents. I could probably only get up to that Scott’s overlook, if that! Thanks!

    Thank you for being quiet where the owls were - a lot of people either didn’t see the 2 signs that were in your face or couldn’t read or were narcicists that just couldn’t stop talking

      My pleasure, gotta respect the owls!!

    • @Apetetrek
      @Apetetrek 4 місяці тому

      humans are also entitled to be where the owls nest,tired of alll this save the enviroment stuff,the landscape is in constant flux.hence the terrain being so eroded and wildlife comes and goes.but they manage to live there a lot easier than humans can,and if noise pisses them off they move,people who live in noisy citys cant do the same.

      Such a hardship for you to be quiet for 100 yards …dont imagine you heard the spectacular canyon wren calls then…your loss.

    I`m planning this hike and I`ve done intensive research on it. Never thought I`d find a POV so close to reality. However, seeing the traffic and the people doing it, I strongly believe it`s a disaster waiting to happen. Kids should not be there and definitely more chains, specially if some hard restrictions won`t take place. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for this incredible video. I'm guessing it`s a continuous footage, so only 1 hr to the top?

    • @conorkcarroll
      @conorkcarroll  2 місяці тому +1

      It's practically the entire way up, I'd say it's closer to an hour and a half to the top (45 mins to Scouts Lookout, another 45 to the top of Angels Landing). I missed a few parts trying to conserve GoPro battery. Have a great time when you go! You'll love it

    I’ll be doing Angels Landing next week and I have the after 12pm permit. Does the ranger checking permits at the bottom let you proceed if you’re there before the scheduled start time?

    • @conorkcarroll
      @conorkcarroll  8 місяців тому

      How much earlier before 12pm are you wanting to go? The first time we did Angels Landing we were a bit late and they didn't have a problem with it.. so maybe you can get lucky. But to be honest I don't know 😐

  • @connerhuff
    @connerhuff 9 місяців тому

    I'm thinking about going out there at the end of May. But now there's a lottery? Is it too late? I'm afraid of it being too crowded.

    • @conorkcarroll
      @conorkcarroll  9 місяців тому

      You should go! Check out Angels Landing on Recreation.gov if you're going in May there is a day before lottery so you apply one day before you want to go hike. If you're going for a few days you'll have more chances to get it. We've gone twice and got it both times but it's not guaranteed

    very dangerous of your wife , the way her walking poles are secured to her back..should definitely have left them behind, like you did...they stick way out past her body and on a narrow ledge she can accidentally bump them against some one and that person would b past tense Way to clunky.....Otherwise a very good video of the trail...
