She's actually terrifying, and I'm so, so down for it. Bungie is taking all the best parts of their recent villain writing, and mixing it with the sheer presence oryx had... THIS is a villain.
Oh, I'm not worried about your worm, or the something far, far worse beyond your worm. I'm worried about the number of steps I'm going to have to complete to turn your essence into a gun, and then the crazy platforming and hoops I'm going to have to go through to get your catalyst.

Keep in mind that she is the actual killer of Cayde. She made the wish with Riven. Uldren was wandering the Reef and wished to save the fanatic and hence Riven resurrected him as the first scorn. And then the barons and Uldren killed Cayde...
I have a theory that it can all be traced down to us who had killed crota which caused Oryx to come to Sol and wouldnt have taken Riven and decimated the dreaming city. Us killing Oryx caused Savathûn to go into hiding and soon figuring out how to take oryxs power to well take. Riven wouldnt have been able to manipulate Uldren (especially without maras voice and body) which got him locked into the PoE and ended up killing cayde. It seems like a stretch but after thinking about it we set off that chain reaction just because of killing Crota.

She’s got a point though. We don’t know the Darkness, save through voices and giant black objects. Yet still it was enough to take down Rasputin and lose our foothold on several planets. We have killed powerful Hive gods and other beings sure but the Darkness is something else. Something that will take far more than a fireteam with powerful guns to shoot at until it is dead like a Strike or a Raid boss.
I like how during these dialogues in season of the lost, Savathun told us her plan going into Witch Queen but we were all to stupid to see it.
This is one of the best monologues in the entire franchise imo. Very well done
After hearing this dialogue a second time I realize that when she says "Look down at that little gun in your hand and tell me: what do you think you're gonna do with that thing?"
She's speaking about the absolute and overwhelming power of the entity behind the Black Fleet and the Darkness, will guns be enough of a solution to stop such absolutes?
Will we accept the end of the universe, or are we gonna stand defiant to the forces of creation?
I cannot say for sure what is gonna happen, but I can say for sure that Guardians make their own fate and our desire to exist has led us to survive impossible odds, we'll find a way :)

Whatever she's referring to, it's equivalent if not greater than the traveler in power. Not the darkness, nor any of its champions.
Which raises an interesting question, could we, as guardians, best our own traveler in a fight?

I was holding the thorn while she said if that tiny gun can kill her which I’m pretty sure it can considering it’s a weapon of sorrow which is literally a god killer and can even fully kill a guardian

I can’t wait to turn you into an artifact just like everyone else.

Guns will do nothing against the pyramids, yet alone the entity. I think people who don't read the lore like The Last Days on Kraken Mare, or Ashers notes during arrivals or how Rasputin used literally every single weapon in his arsenal that spanned the entire solar system and was more than simple lasers during the collapse and failed to even *damage* a single pyramid. And the Entity? Well that's a whole nother level.
@@roberttheronin9803 In the end, we're still gonna win because of the ultimate paracausal force: plot armor. You expect at the very end of the Destiny franchise that Bungie is gonna be like "Oh well, your Guardian is dead lol." We've never faced a threat that was actually capable of permanently ending us, no matter how many times Bungie was like "Hey guys this is the real threat this time."
@@dysmaruuramsyd3233 They could do it. They very much could do it since its the end of a saga and we start playing as a new guardian in the new saga. There is also the possibility of us surviving but losing because we aren't capable of doing shit but surviving. We are strong, sure, but maybe that strength is only enough to delay the inevitable and we have to escape the solar system, like I said.

At this point, im convinced that we are not going to be able to kill Savathun, and that she’ll become a universal constant, synonymous with cunning and ignorance, succeeding where Oryx failed. I think she’s gonna haunt us, right up until the final battle.
I think so too. I cant wait for all these cringe Cayde lovers in the comments and "macho-bravado-men" who think that a gun is all they need and that they are soley responsible for all their great achievements to get a taste of how it feels to lose 3 DLCs in a row to the point we have to run from the solar system.
@@roberttheronin9803 We've killed Savathûn's brother, two nieces, two nephews, great niece, her nephew's baby mama, her god's brother, and her pet machine-god with guns. It's safe to assume we're pretty good at killing god's with bullets at this point.
@@dysmaruuramsyd3233 uhuhuh, except everyone but Oryx and Crota were fake gods, we needed Crotas own sword to even damage him and for Oryx we had to jump through so many hoops only for him to escape and then we had to rinse repeat and even then we killed him with the Light he stole from the ogres and not bombs. Do you just not read what I say or are you that fucking ballsy and think that Bungie will always let you win and kill anyone?
@@roberttheronin9803 They will, don't worry. We'll win with "space-magic" just like every other fight we've won. Bungie isn't exactly good at power-scaling.
@@dysmaruuramsyd3233 No, we will lose, horribly, terribly, maybe not gameplay wise but def storywise, I fully expect half the cast to be dead by the time the Saga ends. Petra, Amanda, Ikora, Ana, Hawthorne, Banshee, Mithrax, Saint and more. From the way you speak, Im not sure if you understand what Scripted events mean. Power scaling means nothing when Bungie can literally make a cutscene of people getting cut down. Or make it so that even if you kill the raid boss there is another cutscene that shows the enemy winning anyway. We didnt exactly win anythint in Forsaken. We only lost. Shadowkeep? We met with the Darkness and did what? Talk to it? Beyond Light. Same deal. What did we accomplish except eliminating a crazy eliksni and even then she is probably not dead and will return. We have not been winning since Forsaken. Only steadily losing and trying to hold ground. The last 3 DLCs will give us major losses. I guaran-fucking-tee you.
We won't win. Because Bungie will not let us win. We will survive

To be a bit more clear (while wholeheartedly agreeing with Evelyn), Savathun isn't asking if you can kill her. She specifically said to look past her, past her worm, what's the ultimate power behind her? *The Darkness.* What do you think your gun is going to do against a literal force of nature?
