Always be prepared to ship items. One of my biggest weaknesses was shipping when I did ebay. It bit me a few times. Make sure you have boxes, filler, tape, envelopes etc. etc. and you will be good!
Thank you so much I was losing money when I was shipping my sold items. Now after watching your video a couple of times I understand. Thank you so much for making it easy.
After watching this a second time along with a couple of others, it’s starting to make more sense. Thank you for taking the time to post these teaching videos.
I've been reselling about a year now. Learning how shipping works was one of those things that really improved my ability to make money. One of my best thrift store scores was a thermal label printer that looked like it'd never been used, still in the original box and with all the cords still sealed in their little baggies.
The first time I came across a thermal printer in the wild....I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT WAS. lol I couldn't imagine why any one would need one. Little did I know...
One thing the local post office workers told me is that for an item to go as a "package" as opposed to a "letter" was the 3/4-inch thickness. I sell a lot of flat items like collectible magazines, comic books, etc, that often go in envelopes. They advised me to insert a couple pieces of cardboard to make it over 3/4 inch thick without adding much weight.
As a Postal Employee I can confirm this. The reason it matters is I believe tracking for a flat (magazine)/letter is a fixed rate; usually around $8-$9, as it's not based on weight but putting tracking on something that doesn't normally come with tracking. So making it thicker to qualify it as a package could reduce shipping costs. This is my understanding as a Carrier, a Clerk would be able to give you a more specific on prices for a letter/flat. To my understanding the only options for tracking on letters/flats is Certified which needs a signature for $8 or a small envelope that has a tracking number on it and you put your letter in the envelope, which costs around $9.
@@madmax8620 tracking for a letter is more expensive. You’re paying a flat rate of $8-$9 as a letter for tracking even if it’s going down the street. Making it a package can make it cheaper to ship by almost half the price.
It's really not. You might make a mistake or two along the way. I know I have...more than a few. But, in the end, shipping can absolutely be mastered. You've got this!
@@prod1kgado I completely understand. I'm still working to come up with shipping scenarios that make it more and more clear to people just like you. I really do want to help.
Most helpful video I’ve found so far. I just got an assortment of boxes, my scale, a box resizer tool and have about 30 items drafted ready to go minus inputting shipping because I’m so lost on what to put. This helped me a lot! I might just get those drafts published soon. Thank you
Thank you for teaching this - shipping can be a little daunting especially when you are new to all of this. I really appreciate all the information you have shared in this video, it's super helpful!
Finally I have time to watch this video. I saw your notification this morning but I couldn’t watch it. Hopefully it’s not to late to support your channel. I did hit 👍🏼 before watching. This is the video I have been waiting for Scott! Thank you so much for explaining step by step & showing us. It’s very understandable. I’m grateful I found your channel! I noticed your videos are loaded with so much great information. When summer starts (4 more weeks of school) for me I plan to watch all your videos. Hard part is to take that leap & start on eBay. Hope you & Melody will have a wonderful week!
It absolutely helps when you watch the videos. Most importantly, it tells me that the videos are helpful. My goal is to help people. So, thank you for watching and commenting!
My husband and I are planning to start selling on eBay. We already have a lot of items to sell. I'm going through your videos and I feel a lot less intimidated. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with this newb! Your videos are amazing!
LOL I'm still learning to edit videos. I admit, sound production in a video is an art that I haven't mastered. I'd have better luck standing on my head, underwater, and stacking greasy BB's.
Scott, thank you for all the help you give to us! I was told at the post office I could not use one of my shipping labels (printed on my thermal printer) because the box was for “priority mail” so I took it back home and repacked it in a plain box (that I had to buy). I am still struggling with the shipping thing but you are helping so much with that!! Thx
My 16 year old son has wanted to start selling and since he’s a minor I’ve been the one to be the head of this endeavor and I’ve been a little overwhelmed thinking about how we will do this but your video made me feel so much more at ease! Thank you so much for having the links to the wireless label printer and all of that!
I own a brick and motor store and want to expand sales using ebay ,but have been scared too because I didn`t understand shipping . You have helped me and I thank you.
There is a UA-cam video on using the flat rate envelopes for many 1 lb plus clothing. Folding and creasing to make kind of a box. I've actually fit an XL Orvis sweatshirt in one. Even the legal size envelope would have saved about 5 bucks on the Carhartt jacket.
I've seen the videos. I've even used the envelopes a bit. They are absolutely an option. I haven't had success getting jackets that size in them without breaking them. I know that others can.
Thank you for this very informative video!! I just sold my 1st item on e-bay in less than 36 hours. Your videos have helped me through my 1st sale!!! Thank you!!!
Oh my goodness! Your videos are helping soooo much, I can't believe it but I sold another item today. I listed 12 items on Tuesday and 2 have sold already. Now I question myself did I sell too low? I did the comps to the best of my ability and feel comfortable that they were priced within reason. Maybe this is just beginner's luck??? I've order supplies from your link, so thank you for posting that information. Starting out small with baby steps. I watch as many of your videos that I can, they are so informative and your a great teacher. Thank you!
Your videos have been so helpful. My husband and I are starting up slowly and all of these questions are running through my head! You have been so very helpful. Glad I found your channel!
My husband and I just washed our first UA-cam video of you. We used to sell on eBay, but felt like we needed to brush up on all the ends and outs for selling tips for 2023. Boy I’m so glad I choose you. Your step by step instructions are great. Also you are very practical. Thank you, Steve and Jewell
Thank you for your videos! Its been a long time since I've sold on Ebay and you’ve given me the incentive to start again. The shipping looks easier than it use to be since you can go thru eBay . Found your instructions are easy to follow and understand .
I just found your channel-it’s like a breath of fresh air! You take a very complex and overwhelming subject(s) and boil it down in easy to understand concepts/terms. Thank you!!
Helpful video, thanks. Shipping is still a bit confusing for those who are new to this. You know what your doing , you know all that package sizes, weights what goes to what. But appreciate you taking the time to make the video and make Shipping a bit more realistic
I just found your channel today by watching the play back on the Nurse Flipper! I subscribed to you today! I love how you are simplifying all the processes we need to know as new sellers!! Keep doing them please, I love your easy going demeanor and motivating comments! Thank you to you and your wife🌹 Janet
You are so helpful! Thank you. I have been a thrift shopper since I was 18. I am now 70, and starting to think about reselling my collections. My niche is vintage pottery, glass, artwork, lamps, many of which are fragile. I'm dreading the shipping step because of this. I know I have to get it together eventually. All your tips are appreciated, indeed!
You can do it! The trick to shipping odd stuff is to have your packaging worked out beforehand and have it on hand. My son sells a lot of vintage tech and he has boxes that work perfectly. Shipping an 8 pounds IBM Model M keyboard isn't much harder than shipping a t-shirt when you have everything here.
Great video! I'm wanting to sell items on eBay, but my biggest question is how to set pricing. I work in e-commerce, and we ship on our client's FedEx or UPS accounts, so having to worry about boxes and shipping prices is not important. I'm going to check out your other video "Shipping is Confusing" to see what content you have there.
I arrive at pricing by looking for some info on ebay. First, I'll search for the item to see if there are active listings. I take note of how many are listed. Second, I'll filter the search results by SOLD. I compare how many are sold to the number listed. This gives me a sell-through rate. The higher the sell-through rate, the faster i can hope to sell it. Also, I look to see the range of prices the item sold for. I adjust my price considering the condition of mine and how long I'm willing to wait to sell it.
@@TheChaChingKing Thanks. I guess I was too vague in the word "pricing", because I meant the shipping cost. I would assume that using USPS and their flat rate cartons, most of that is pre-determined. I know that UPS and FedEx use Dimensional Shipping, which can cost a lot for a large package, even if it's light-weight.
You’ve helped me so much, I’ve been selling for 3 months now & the only thing I get dinged on is shipping rates, I was so confused, I just printed the label they bought..I had no idea, until I started watching how to do it right. Thank you!
I just found your channel & subscribed. I appreciate you being so willing to share your knowledge. We have sold before, but are getting into it more seriously now. Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
One thing you didn't mention was putting the date on the label or changing the date if the package is prepared the day before you actually take it to the post office
Thank you for making this video. This makes it so much easier to understand. I am still learning and trying to learn as much as I can before I jump in. Thank you and Melody for making it look fun.
Thank you so much! I'm still working on creating helpful videos. I'd like to believe I get just a little bit better with every one. Your feedback makes me feel like I'm heading in the right direction.
I work full time and help my husband once I'm home take care of the bills house and our 3 pets. I love buying and the idea of selling for more income but have lil spare time.
That's exactly what eBay has provided for us. It more than covered the difference between my retirement income and what I was making when working full-time.
I'm already a subscriber. This is the 2nd video that I've watched of yours. I haven't been involved with eBay since before the pandemic but I'm now treating it as a full time business. This video was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much for creating this channel, I am finally getting started. I only have 7 items listed so far but I am looking forward to success with EBay and online selling. You make it look relatively easy. 😊😊
I appreciate you being here. Remember, everything seems easy once you know how to do it. :-) You'll get better and better at the entire process as you go. You've listed 7! That's 7 more than some will ever do.
Hi Scot! I know you posted this forever ago - but I am TRYING to get started and going back finding helpful videos that address my weak points. Hoping it will actually happen in my lifetime!! You canNOT imagine how helpful this video is for me - as well as all of your videos. I just HAVE TO see a step by step - then I'm good to go. You are the best!! Thank you to the moon and back. (Don't give up on me!!)
It’s easy to tell you have teaching in your portfolio. You are absolutely excellent teaching us how to do things on eBay. Thank you for giving us your time and talent.
I really appreciate you condensing all this information in easy to follow video. You were also very entertaining to watch. I will definitely watch more of your videos! I really hope I can get the hang of this because it's been a very frustrating experience so far.
I know it can be frustrating. Melody and I were talking this morning about how things always seem easy once you know what you're doing. But until you do...it can be tough. I am still working to try and make it easier for any one that I can.
I’ve been struggling with finances for a long time and I don’t have a 9-5 job. I work as a contractor delivering food but I try to save up little by little if I can. My main goal for 2024 isn’t to just make a quick buck because it seems “easy” and I know that’s not the case. I can tell it takes hard work but doesn’t have to be hard if you know what you’re doing. I just want to learn how to make good income online selling things everyone can enjoy and make a good living for myself and my family. Seeing you make this process look the way it does just motivates me to want to give this lifestyle a chance. I am a bit frightened about making mistakes and losing money I don’t have but I’m glad that you are hear to help giving great advice and tips for beginners.
Ebay is tremendous at doing exactly what you are describing. Start with things you already have and aren't terribly expensive. Build experience. A thousand dollars a month is a very, very realistic goal part-time. We make much more without cranking out tons of listings. You can do this.
I really appreciate that. It has definitely been a sharp learning curve for me since I started this having no idea which side of the camera to stand in front of.
I want to start a small business and resale was my first option to make my own business and this is really a helpful video so knowledgeable and a lot of ideas specially shipping ideas. The only thing makes me doubt is how to start and find a best product to sale and what people really needs.
The best product is always the key. You not only have to know what it is, but you have to have access to the item at a price that will allow you to make a profit. That's why I suggest staying with things you are familiar with and, preferably, already have. It's a definite learning curve.
Great video! I have been searching for a Ebay shipping video that shows how to set up formatting of shipping options with Ebay. This seems right up your alley! There has to be easier to set up than what I have done. For example I would love the drop down menu of shipping options to be customized for my most common choices without have to spend so much time searching for it.
Very helpful video. Just getting started reselling on EBAY and shipping is very confusing so this is very helpful. Going to start watching more of your content.
Just shipped my first fragile sale and used alot of bubble wrap and stuffed extra paper around it. Took me a while to figure out how to print my shipping label but finally got it and taped onto box and took to post office. I think the thermal label maker is a great idea and tool. Will invest in on next. Thank you. Plan to look back at all your videos to learn more.
If you find something I haven't covered, or haven't covered well enough, don't hesitate to let me know. Congrats on the sale! The process get easier with each cha-ching!
My post office in my small town is awesome. If I ever have to go in to Waco to ship, they treat me like I'm a bother. So. I just make sure I take mine to my own post office.
Very helpful information - love your humbled sense of humor. Shipping on EBay is a learning curve, I just started educating myself on the best way to handle it…. 🇨🇦🍁
Your video was so informative. Shipping has me intimidated and has held me back from making my first listing. I believe I understand the process better, and am ready to give it a try🤞🏻
Shipping definitely is the most intimidating part of all of this. But it gets better after you ship the very first one. You'll learn more from that than you could a hundred videos
Hi Scot, I love your videos! I find them so helpful, I used to sell clothes on eBay years ago, and I'm just now starting to sell again. I know that the platform has changed quite a bit since I was on it last. Im having trouble calculating shipping in my new listings. Do you have any videos on how to do that?? thanks so much, Denni :)
I've touched on it, but the shipping costs change so rapidly that it's tough to be specific AND accurate. If you're struggling, focus on getting accurate weights and measurements and then use calculated shipping.
@@TheChaChingKing it's honest feedback as we say . Most of all the other videos are just folks bragging on how much they have sold which I'm happy for them but my sales are somewhat pitiful so I need good honest advice and you give just that. I am now a subscriber. Thank you very much.
Thank you. I recently lost most of my profit with the cost of shipping a belt. I used a small flat rate box but decided to use the flat rate for buyer on the listing. Uggghhh! Now you taught me to weigh the items and put in the dimensions when listing an items so this doesn’t happen again. I guess my misconception was thinking buyers won’t pay a flat rate box shipping cost when they are already paying for the item at the asking price. I’m a newbie so I’m still learning. 😊
So bracelet of the weight of the belt it would've been cheaper to do it by weight rather than by size of th3 box ? I'm new as well and I'm confused about this and other things ah , thank you
Thank you for you videos. I'm gonna start trying to sell on ebay but it's intimidating and your the first person I've seen break down the shipping process. Keep up the good work.
Hey Scott, thank you for all your great info. Question though, what is a regional A box for? How do you use it? I've always seen it but never knew anything about it so I never considered it. Help!!
It ships at a flat rate based on distance instead of weight. I think it is the 2 pound rate regardless of how much it weighs. So, if I had something that weighed 7 pounds shipping to Hawaii and it would fit in the Regional Rate A box, it would be far cheaper than just shipping in at the regular weight. Does that make sense? It's not always cheaper, but really can be.
I'm wondering if I misinterpreted something. With the Carhartt jacket, you made a change with the box size and adjusted the shipping weight, correct? The larger box was cheaper than the smaller one or did I really misunderstand this example? :) Thank you! ~Jules
I probably just wasn't clear. It just would not fit in the smaller box. So, I cut out all of that trying to keep the length of the video watchable. But, it just wouldn't go in the smaller box, at all. The bigger box seemed cheaper because it weighed one pound less than my estimate.
@@TheChaChingKing Next question: When you create a listing, are you entering shipping weight for a more accurate amount or just guesstimating at the approximate cost?
Most of the time, we know the shipping weight just from experience. The rest we make an educated guess. For example, i know if an item fits in my 12x9 ziplock, it will fit in either my poly mailer or the priority padddd flat rate. So, ultimately, on those items i only need to know if it's under or over a pound. If I really can't estimate it, I weigh it.
I tried answering it below. I think it's just a matter of a poor edit on my part. I think because I knew what I was doing that I just didn't pick up on the inconsistent flow of information
Gosh. Every video I just loVe and appreciate your attitude, your approach and have grown quite fond of your voice and smile to boot! Thank you for being here and doing this, you’ve already helped me soooooo much! 😅🙃🤪😄
Ive watched this video 3x and will probably watch it another 3. Its very helpful. My main issue right now and choosing the price for shipping on my listings. I saw you last video where you talk about different weights and pricing, but how do you know how much its going to weigh ahead of time, if you dont know which box you are using. Also, do the flat rate boxes always have the same price for their assigned size? Thank you Scot for all the help. Because of your channel, I am actually taking the plunge of starting my resale journey.
You are so kind! I truly appreciate it. I know a lot of the weights just from experience. But you can always weigh the item and add some for the box and packing. It won't be exact, but it will probably be very close. There are two types of flat rate USPS boxes. The true flat rate ones, like the padded flat rate and the medium flat rate, have a specific charge regardless of where they are going or how much they weigh. The Regional Rate A & B boxes charge 2 pounds and 5 pounds respectively. So, they vary some depending on where they are going. So, if you have an item under 15 pounds that fits in a Regional Rate A box, it'll get charged at the 2 pound rate. And, above all else, it WILL get easier with more experience. Don't be afraid to make a mistake. I still make mistakes. But I'm smarter with every one.
@@TheChaChingKing I am shipping fine jewelry and want my business name removed for security reasons. I edited the Shipping from Address to just my name, but the business name still shows on the shipping label. Do you or anyone on here know how to remove it? Thanks.
@TheChaChingKing wow... that truly made absolutely NO sense... 2lb , 5lb, 15lb=2lb ?? What? There is so much unexplained there and I wish I could understand it...
Thanks Scott you are awesome. I am going to be starting up again next week after a two year stay in the hospital. I love all of your tips and great advice that you give online. You are a great guy with a lot of morals and we could all learn a lot from you. Wish me luck as I jump back into the pool next week. I’ll be watching your videos for more good stuff. Thanks again my friend.
My goodness, that's quite a long stay. I hope you're well. This is absolutely a business you can build around your abilities and needs. Good luck as you get going! You can do this.
Hey Scott! I've been noticing that you and other resellers are not printing out packing labels. Is there a particular reason why you chose not to place one in your packages? (Still learning what is needed and what isn't!) Thanks~Wendy, fellow Texas Reseller
Good observation! I have never included a packing label unless I've been asked to. One of the worst reasons in the world to do, or not do, something is because that's what you've always done. Lol. But it isn't the only reason. While it might eventually happen, it has never caused an issue for me. Despite thousands of sales, it's just never come up. So, I don't include a packing slip.
@@TheChaChingKing I place a packing slip in every package, I will also write a "Thank You" note on the slip and sign it as well...takes a little more time but I find buyers really like getting a written note of thanks. The shipping slip also serves as a insurance if the package ever become damaged in the mail (has never happened) so that the shipping service knows who shipped it and where it was going..
I have been on eBay for many years, but plan to make a new start in 2023. This video has been very helpful, along with all your others. Thanks, I appreciate your help.
Hi Scot! Thank you for the video. At what point do you decide to refund shipping overcharge to the customer? I've heard people say if there is a $10 difference but I've refunded a customer for $5 before. I never want anyone to think I'm trying to make my "fortune" off overcharging for shipping. Thanks!
For me, it's more about the percentage to the overall sale. Like the example in the video. The overcharge was close to 5% of the overall sale. If it had been a $1,200 item, I probably wouldn't have refunded anything if the overcharge was $6.
Hey Scott, I have to say you create great learning videos. So helpful! Question - when creating your shipping fee, how do you build that price? My items are? Or do you truly just guess and learn as you go? This is the part of the process that keeps boggling my mind? Thank you for any help!!!
I have 2 videos that talk about shipping. The first one covers some of the costs more in depth. But, keeping it short, if it's under 8 ounces, I ship it first class for about $4.99. Between 8 ounces and 16 ounces, I charge $5.99. If it's over a pound but fits in a USPS padded flat rate envelope, I charge $8.99. If it doesn't fit in the padded flat rate, I usually aim for the Regional Rate A box and charge $11.99. I'm not trying to get them exact, just close enough to be fair. Does that help? Thanks so much for the kind words!!!
I too have struggled with this for the past YEAR!! Why it has to be so complicated I don’t know. But I’m finally getting it after watching great teaching videos like this one!
@@janetlandry-lucey5386 I really appreciate that. More than anything, I want the videos to be helpful. And I'm not done trying to come up with a video that simplifies the process as much as possible. As I think of ways to present that, I'll put out more content on this topic.
eBay is the worst-selling platform for customer support for the seller. All the customer's agents are from India or other countries it is hard to speak with them, and the auto or AI eBay system is bad... I don't recommend it at all, now they have increased the fee starting at 13%, and Facebook is 5%, and many others.
I could not disagree more. I've had great customer support from eBay. I've tried Facebook marketplace and it just didn't work for me. But if it's working for you, awesome. I hope you have continued success with it.
Should know that Americans ain’t good in computer science and IT as Indians, Amazon’s customer agents too are also Indians same applies to Apple and other companies
@@luxomoore6711 Just if you want to offer shipping. Not for local sales or pick-up. It's just only 5% in comparison with eBay which is 13.5%. Amazon is 10% but you need to pay $40 a month. I know that you can avoid that but I don't know how.
Happy to find you I been out if all this about five years this has been a real eye opener sense I thinkibg in to restarting eBay now thst I’m resettled after my move thank you
Great video! Thank you for sharing this. I’m in the beginning stages of reselling and I’ve already set up an area in my shed which is very similar to what you have. Yours is a great example and I’m gonna use it.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I am new to Ebay and this is my biggest challenge. I still have lots of questions regarding using Ebay shipping labels versus USPS labels, how to estimate when posting, does package still deliver to buyer if you didn’t pay enough with postage, etc. I’ll be looking through your videos for more info. Thanks so much!!
Sir love u soo soo much from india I was huge confused about all things like how they works on eBay cause I am new here but after lot of search finally I got the right person thanks a lot sir❤
LOL...I HATE shipping china. That said, I have shipped it. Every piece I had that I had the original packing material arrived safely. So, obviously, use the original packing if you have it. If not, put thin cardboard between each piece. Stack like pieces together. Use a well-fitted box around those. Put that in a larger box surrounded by packing peanuts. I have always double boxed every piece of china I've ever shipped. Because it's such a pain to ship, I only pick up pieces that are relatively expensive...enough to warrant my time. I hope that helps!
Liked and subscribed. You seem like the nicest person and sell with integrity. Thank you for your help as I start this journey. I truly appreciate you!!
Thank you, sir I have learned a great deal from you. I am just getting my eBay store going and I literally look to your videos for guidance. Thank you again!
Allow yourself as much grace as you do fear and you will be fine. I've made every mistake there is to make. I learn from them and move on. You've got this.
I'm so thankful for your content ... Your delivery and tone definitely gives me confidence. I appreciate all your work. I no longer feel lost. Thank you
Yes, you need to get it to the post office. They are not automatically notified that it needs to be picked up. You can arrange for pick up, too. But I live so rural that that is not an option.
Such an incredible video displayed. Most UA-camrs fail to be so effective and efficient at once. Your videos provide both at a high degree. I inquire about a couple things things 1. Everything works even in Canada right? I assume the shipping costs to the US will just be more 2. When you pay for the shipping label, one it allows you to print the label, but it also becomes your "ticket" so that Ebay ships it for you. So essentially, you don't have to be doing too much? 3. How do I know which shipping deal I should go with? Thank you very much
1. Canada has access to some of the same international services. That said, I personally think Canada gets some of the highest shipping costs...just judging from how much it costs a Canadian to buy from me. 2. Once the buyer pays for an item, I buy and print the shipping label from the funds that they have paid. The cost is based on the weight and dimensions of the item combined with the shipping distance. You get a very healthy discount on shipping through eBay. And all I have to do is either have the package picked up or drop it off at our post office. 3. As long as you have packed it well and haven't committed to an expedited shipping method, use the one that is most cost effective. Even when I give buyers the option of paying for a faster service, very few don't choose the least expensive. Thank you SO much for the kind words. :-)
I'm just starting to sell on Ebay, and researching the best and quick method to be able to dispatch items, I found your video very useful! Thank you, you have a new subscriber! :-)
Poshmark is definitely easier. It's more expensive for lower cost items because there are fewer choices. But, shipping gets easier with every single package
Not many ppl can teach effectively but you were born to teach! I’m new to reselling and decided to do calculated shipping so I learn about how much it costs. I’m guessing you can use whichever box you prefer because you have a set rate, correct? Since I use calc ship, I need to enter dimensions of my package when I list the item? And I couldn’t ship it in a box w different dimensions, right?
If you use calculated shipping, it's really important to have accurate size and weights. And, you can only use Priority Boxes to ship via Priority. Other than that, it's up to you. :-) Thank you SO much for the kind words. They mean more to me than you could possibly know.
Always be prepared to ship items. One of my biggest weaknesses was shipping when I did ebay. It bit me a few times. Make sure you have boxes, filler, tape, envelopes etc. etc. and you will be good!
Very true!
Or just take it into the local po and they will have everything ready to go..
@ZestySoul Its 10x more expensive to do it that way. I buy shipping supplies in bulk. So my shipping cost overall is much lower

Interesting tidbit that I did not know. THANKS!
Ha! Now my wife can "Eat My Shorts Man" 🤣😂 She gripped at me and said I was a hoarder for keeping foam padding😊
But WHY do you want to change your letter into a "package "?? What is the purpose of it?!?
@@madmax8620 tracking for a letter is more expensive. You’re paying a flat rate of $8-$9 as a letter for tracking even if it’s going down the street. Making it a package can make it cheaper to ship by almost half the price.
This video opened my eyes that shipping isn’t as bad and scary as I thought.
It's really not. You might make a mistake or two along the way. I know I have...more than a few. But, in the end, shipping can absolutely be mastered. You've got this!

Most helpful video I’ve found so far. I just got an assortment of boxes, my scale, a box resizer tool and have about 30 items drafted ready to go minus inputting shipping because I’m so lost on what to put. This helped me a lot! I might just get those drafts published soon. Thank you

My husband and I are planning to start selling on eBay. We already have a lot of items to sell. I'm going through your videos and I feel a lot less intimidated. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with this newb! Your videos are amazing!
You can do it! eBay has been an absolutely incredible supplementary income for us. I hope it will be for you as well.

LOL I'm still learning to edit videos. I admit, sound production in a video is an art that I haven't mastered. I'd have better luck standing on my head, underwater, and stacking greasy BB's.
@TheChaChingKing Yo, how do you find the time to reply to all your comments? You must have like a million things going on.
Thx
Ah....yep...you can ONLY use the USPS Priority Supplies to ship via Priority mail. I guarantee you aren't the only one who's ever done that.
My 16 year old son has wanted to start selling and since he’s a minor I’ve been the one to be the head of this endeavor and I’ve been a little overwhelmed thinking about how we will do this but your video made me feel so much more at ease!
I know that others can.

dark ages ended. happy shopping
Thank you!

You deserve all the credit for putting so much effort in your videos..🤙
I need to make that video. You couldn't make custom shipping policies when I made this one. But you can now.

@@TheChaChingKing ok, ill try that. thanks

It'll get easier. That said, I'm still learning, too. Sounds like you're well on your way!
Like any new endeavor, there is a learning process. But it gets easier with every single package. You can do this.
@@TheChaChingKing Yes that makes sense! Thank you so much for clarifying.
I’m just getting started. I have a lot of different products from household items to car parts. I’m really hoping to make a go at this
Pick the inexpensive and easiest to ship things first. Build up a little experience. But, you can do this. You can.
I'm wondering if I misinterpreted something. With the Carhartt jacket, you made a change with the box size and adjusted the shipping weight, correct? The larger box was cheaper than the smaller one or did I really misunderstand this example? :) Thank you! ~Jules
I was wondering the same thing...
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the encouraging words.
@@TheChaChingKing I mean every word, your videos are extremely helpful.

And thank you for the kind words!
Thank you so much!
Hi, I just found your video. I am absolutely encouraged to start selling. Thank you so much for being so down to earth.
If I can do this...you can do this.
Love how you come across very easy to listen to you hi from the UK

eBay is the worst-selling platform for customer support for the seller.
What platforms do you recommend for selling. I know a lot of people that have bad issues with seller support with eBay
Should know that Americans ain’t good in computer science and IT as Indians, Amazon’s customer agents too are also Indians same applies to Apple and other companies
Facebook has a fee?
@@luxomoore6711 Just if you want to offer shipping. Not for local sales or pick-up. It's just only 5% in comparison with eBay which is 13.5%. Amazon is 10% but you need to pay $40 a month. I know that you can avoid that but I don't know how.

I still have lots of questions regarding using Ebay shipping labels versus USPS labels, how to estimate when posting, does package still deliver to buyer if you didn’t pay enough with postage, etc. I’ll be looking through your videos for more info. Thanks so much!!
I will continue to make shipping videos. I know that for a lot of people it's the biggest hurdle.
A really good tutorial! This was one of the things that was making me worry but with this tutorial I got inspired to continue forward!
You can do it!
Sir love u soo soo much from india
I was huge confused about all things like how they works on eBay cause I am new here but after lot of search finally I got the right person thanks a lot sir❤
Namaste! I truly, truly appreciate that! I hope that some of my videos prove helpful to you.
"Cha-Ching!"-love it. Been selling on ebay since 2002 but I'm always looking for "new efficiencies." Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thanks for watching!
Can you suggest how you would ship a set of china place settings?
LOL...I HATE shipping china. That said, I have shipped it. Every piece I had that I had the original packing material arrived safely. So, obviously, use the original packing if you have it. If not, put thin cardboard between each piece. Stack like pieces together. Use a well-fitted box around those. Put that in a larger box surrounded by packing peanuts. I have always double boxed every piece of china I've ever shipped. Because it's such a pain to ship, I only pick up pieces that are relatively expensive...enough to warrant my time. I hope that helps!
Great to have your nice check list of supplies when starting out...thanks!
Liked and subscribed. You seem like the nicest person and sell with integrity. Thank you for your help as I start this journey. I truly appreciate you!!
I appreciate the encouragement so much. So much. I want these videos to be helpful and hopeful. So, your comment means a lot.
Thank you, sir I have learned a great deal from you. I am just getting my eBay store going and I literally look to your videos for guidance. Thank you again!
I really appreciate the encouragement!
Omg..thank you so much for the insight about this , I'm a little scared about all of this but I'm excited to get started
Allow yourself as much grace as you do fear and you will be fine. I've made every mistake there is to make. I learn from them and move on. You've got this.
I'm so thankful for your content
... Your delivery and tone definitely gives me confidence. I appreciate all your work. I no longer feel lost. Thank you
That's very encouraging to hear. Thank you so much.
Very good video! I just wanted to know what do I do after I press purchase shipping label. Like do i have to give my item to a post office?
Yes, you need to get it to the post office. They are not automatically notified that it needs to be picked up. You can arrange for pick up, too. But I live so rural that that is not an option.
@@TheChaChingKing thanks!
🤦♂
I am new to Ebay and I sure appreciate you sharing your wisdom.
Thank you so much
Such an incredible video displayed. Most UA-camrs fail to be so effective and efficient at once. Your videos provide both at a high degree. I inquire about a couple things things
1. Everything works even in Canada right? I assume the shipping costs to the US will just be more
I have enjoyed all of your videos. When I need help I check your videos first.
Thank you so much. My whole goal is to make helpful videos
I'm just starting, your videos are a Godsend!

I'm just starting to sell on Ebay, and researching the best and quick method to be able to dispatch items, I found your video very useful! Thank you, you have a new subscriber! :-)
I really appreciate that. Thank you.
wow, you have the best selling video i've seen so far , thank you sir for sharing !!
I truly appreciate that. Truly.
thank you. I am thinking about starting an eBay store, I am scared about shipping I do sell on Poshmark I wanted to do more platforms
Poshmark is definitely easier. It's more expensive for lower cost items because there are fewer choices.
But, shipping gets easier with every single package
So glad I found you thru Rachel. Your heart of a teacher shines through. I appreciated what I learned new from this video
Rachel has helped a lot of youtube people. I'm very grateful to be one of them.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Thank you SO much for the kind words. They mean more to me than you could possibly know.
Found you on The Nurse Flipper, found your video very helpful and subscribed to learn more. thank you!
